First timer here at Ally's Comfort Cafe, Too. It feels like going to your neighbors for breakfast. Here they did some things well and others decent. This place is clearly loved by the locals as it was packed pretty early in the morning. We got there and just waiting a couple minutes before we were sat. The lobby was quite warm so maybe a fan could be installed. It is sparingly decorated with a cozy feeling. Their corn beef hash breakfast place was delicious and had a great crust with it. The others were okay: french toast, bagel. The usual breakfast suspects. It's a great place to to go to for some neighborhood no fuss cooking but nothing out of this world. Customer service was friendly. read more

UPDATE: After a long time of not coming here, I was finally able to come back for breakfast with my gf and her daughter. The first thing I noticed is that the name has changed to "About Time Cafe" due to new ownership. Luckily, that was the only major change I noticed. I was happy to see that the same nice ambiance, staff, and food are all still there. We started off with some coffee. My gf ordered the country fried steak that she knows and loves. My gf's daughter had some chocolate chip pancakes with eggs and bacon, which she really enjoyed. One thing to note, the pancakes are pretty big, so one may be enough for children, specially if accompanied with sides. I had the funfetti pancakes, which were the stars of the show. The order came with 2 large warm and fluffy pancakes with a sweet cream and sprinkles. The sweet cream reminded me a bit of the one used in red velvet cake. Overall, we all had a great time and we look forward to coming back soon. read more

Mmm! Took my sister for some breakfast here. I ordered their veggie burger and it was great!!! I also ordered one of their mixed juices which also turned out perfect- not too sweet or light; just right. Their service as well was great, waitress was kind and quick. Explained the menu and answered all our questions. Definitely recommend this place for some breakfast! read more

first time trying their food and I can say I wasn't disappointed in the slightest bit. I had an omelette with wheat bread and a waffle on the side. even though there was no syrup or jelly in the bag when I picked it up it was still good without the added condiments. will be returning soon for sure! read more

Great food for a great price, very nice staff and the food was so yummy, also VERY ACCESIBLE for people with wheelchair or strollers, is hard to find a restaurant that has the space or table for special accommodations. Now they have this little cool corner with table games (great idea) but truth is you won't get a chance to play them since food gets there SUPER FAST , loved it, the only downside is their short schedule for my opinion (7-2pm) since Im not a morning/day person, but for this restaurant I would make the effort. so glad to find with tryoutmybiz , will definitely come back with family read more

Great food, generous portions and friendly service. This place definitely satisfies that "diner food" craving & delivers the classics. It seems like everyone here is "a regular" and understandably so. I ordered the "It Takes Two" combo and was blown away by the giant pancakes that came with my meal. They were literally the size of the plate! Crispy on the outside and delightfully moist on the inside. My eggs were a little over but overall, the food here is pretty good. Oh and plot twist, they also serve beer, wine & cocktails! Overall, I would definitely recommend this place and I'll probably add this to my "quick breakfast" list of restaurants. read more

New name...... Not so new menu. This location use to be Alleys Cafe Too and has recently changed owners and names. Well known for their pancakes and homemade corned beef, nothing has changed there. When entering the diner, you find yourself exactly where a diner would lead you. A huge display case of desserts occupies your first sight, a pay counter to the left and the hostess stand to the right. Seating while you wait is a wooden bench tucked behind the hostess stand and with the back to the window. Usually there's a wait, and if more than 1 party is already waiting, you're left to stand in the middle of the small entrance room or outside in the sun. The food is food. It mostly comes out hot ans fast. However, I get a bit skeptical if I order an appetizer of bacon and its sitting in front of me 3 mins later. That's not even possible that it's cooked to order. Which leads me to believe it's sitting pre cooked under heat lamps or I always end up with someone else's food. Another thing to note is the grits. Just gross! They are made with sugar and milk. It's not your typical southern style. Being that the menu doesn't state this, it's a huge blind side. The coffee can be hit or miss and it's hard to continuously get a refill. The owner is against carafes on the table so service can slow that down. Overall, there are worse places and better places for breakfast in the area. But if you're not to picky (the menu is a typical selection of breakfast entrees), the food is good and affordable. I personally favor omlettes over pancakes and tend to choose Long Island Cafe just around the corner instead. read more

I am a very local patron and as well a 25 year restaurant consultant /Chef and to say it this place wont last another 2 months thats why ally sold it not that her concept is any better?!? oh yeah she has no clue and her Mother was a dictator. We try to patronize I live 2 blocks away and on our last visit not only the food vile it was under temperature and outdated oh and the sauce was worse than wallpaper i know the restaurant has issues when the cook/ chef is at Sams club every day... I guess the Pizza guy saw the writing on the wall after what 2 weeks and yes i tried both as you tried to resurrect this piece of crap place when you want to be a real restaurant contact me or lets see numbers and not Pizza numbers as those ovens haven't been making money in years.... I applaud your efforts yet after another 6 attempts id rather eat at MacDonald- whats the lease numbers as obviously no good will read more

Me and my boyfriend went out to eat at the About Time Cafe and Craft Pizza about an hour before they closed. Service was super friendly and they made sure to make us feel at home and like we had no need to rush. The pizza and pancakes were delicious! And as you can see pretty big portions. The decor in the cafe is charming and totally not your regular cafe. I loved it and would recommend everyone to go here! read more

The staff is nice but the food underwhelming. Asked them for recommendations of their most popular. They said chicken and waffles and breakfast BLT. Both were ok at best. Eggs overcooked and waffle flavorless and not crisp. It was worth a shot based on reviews but found it disappointing. But very nice and friendly people. read more

We make a special trip here just for their breakfast BLT, it's that good! Their service is usually excellent too and their prices are pretty reasonable. Their two-for-one alcoholic beverages at brunch time are nothing to write home about but what else would you really expect from a diner? Overall, a family favorite! read more

Prefab country fried Osb steak. Good scrambled egg Butter for the bagel. I'm pretty sure it wasn't butter not from cow that is. When I make country fried steak I tenderize round steak batter is flour with seasonings so good you wouldn't want to cover it pasty gravey. I'm not a fan of osb meat. If you want to relive your school cafeteria have the chicken fried steak here. read more

4 stars is only because of great service. Food is average or below and I wouldn't leave more than 3 stars. Egg Benedict didn't like at all. Pancake is below average. Coffee is bad. Posted price on Yelp supposed to be cheap $ but in reality it's $$$- I paid for 2 breakfast with coffee and orange juices $48 including tip. Way too many better& cheaper places. I wish all of them had same service as this one read more

Urgh South Florida there are at least 3 things that you just can't get right and once again you failed me on Biscuits and Gravy. (BBQ & Mexican food are the other two in case you're wondering) I'm a spoiled Midwesterner who was served homemade biscuits and gravy practically every weekend. When I walked into Ally's one weekend I was excited to see that B's & G's was one of the specials so I knew I had to order it! As soon as the waitress brought the plate I knew I was in trouble. I took one bite and immediately regretted it. I have no idea what you served me in the white soup that you call gravy, but it wasn't sausage. And that wasn't gravy smothered over rocks of bread on my plate. I also ordered a side of grits, because again almost every Midwesterner was served grits with breakfast where I'm from and you don't see them on the menu often down here. Plus you really can't mess up grits. But don't worry Ally's did. It was more like overly soupy cream of wheat not a thick stick to the spoon texture like grits. I don't knock them so much on the grits, because it's not a common breakfast item for everybody but biscuits and gravy?!? Come on! You would think the waitress would notice that I took maybe a total of 3 bites out of the whole order and offer to get me something else or ask what's wrong. Nope, she buzzed by the table barely allowing us to ask for butter for my parent's pancakes. She came back with butter, dropped the check and never saw here again, The hostess/woman at the counter and buss boy were very friendly. Our waitress was a little too fake friendly and too busy to be bothered with our table. Obviously because my whole meal sat pretty much untouched in front of me. But the place had a comfy home cooked meal feel to it which increased my hopes for quality breakfast only to be thoroughly let down. If you're not from around here and you're use to food with flavor, I recommend staying away. You probably will be better off going to Denny's. read more

I travel for work so I have seen a lot of nice little breakfast places. I try to only eat at small, single owned places. Ok so here's the good. 1. Coffee Ok so here's the bad. 1. Most everything else. I'll go into detail. The food is not fresh. I had the breakfast bowl and a side of biscuits and gravy. The gravy is canned (they cube up some kind of meat to make it look homemade). The biscuit was frozen or old, not fresh at all. The breakfast bowl was dry. And came out too hot. Had to wait to eat it. Not enough flavor either. The service was meh. Two other tables in here and I feel like I was ignored. Overall just not that into this place. read more

I ordered take out through a delivery service so I have not been to the actual restaurant yet, but I will. The food was amazing. It has been a long time since I've had well seasoned grits that were the right consistency and scrambled eggs that still appetizing after the delivery. Everything was so good! Actually got silverware, and napkins which is SUPER rare these days. I would order from them again but now I want to dine in as well. read more

Super cute spot in Plantation near the sawgrass. Located in a little shopping plaza, not hard to find. The walls are brightly lit with funky colors and a bunch of adorable wall art. Menu is super simple, but a lot of options, just different variations. I got the farmers omelet, which was 3 eggs, onions, peppers, home fries,and cheddar cheese and your choice of meat. Between sausage, ham and bacon, I went with the sausage. Omelet was super chunky, sausage had a really flavorful taste, and the potatoes inside gave it a nice twist! Robin our server suggested us to deep fry the home fries on the side. So I got regular home fries inside my omelette and tried the fried ones on the side. So glad we did because they were delish! They were so crispy on the outside! One thing I will suggest changing is the coffee. Little bland and tart, I had two different pots (first was warm, second was steaming). I didn't ask for my coffee to be changed but both pots tasted the same. Either way, really enjoyed our breakfast and would defiantly come back. read more

We stopped in here while visiting my son in Sunrise. We ordered breakfast which was very good and cooked perfectly. The food came out very quickly and the waitress and staff very friendly. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped back in the following day and again ordered breakfast this time with a mimosa for me. My wife didn't want OJ with champagne so the waitress offered a splash of cranberry juice. Perfect. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back when visiting in Sunrise. read more

The waitress did not deserve a 20 percent tip. She did not even serve 5 percent. And the parking is non existent. I had to park in a garage and walk down a roadway with no sidewalks to get to the place after dropping my wife and daughter off. I don't understand how people have given this place an average of four stars. Don't waste your money.

Ally's comfort Café has been a staple in Northwest Davie forever. *Now, Ally, moved away a little while ago and new owners took over. They kept the same recipes which made us hopeful that things would pretty much remain the same. But little by little all of the staff that had been there for years started leaving. I think there's only a couple of the longtime staff left. We'll get back to the staff in a moment. My wife and I go to Ally's every Saturday morning. We go there have a great breakfast and then go to the Publix next-door to do our weekly shopping. There's obviously going to be hiccups when new owners take over a restaurant. We totally understand this. But some things are just not improving. They open at 8 AM on Saturdays. But, between 8 and 9 AM there's only one waitress and one bus boy this didn't always used to be the case. They used to have the full staff and someone at the door to take names. He would also help out by getting you drinks or more coffee if you needed it. It worked really well for the small family restaurant. The new owners took over and at some point they decided they only needed limited staff between 8 and 9 AM on Saturdays. And of course, every Saturday my wife and I go in there. It gets packed and the waitress is running around like her head is cut off and the busboy is overwhelmed. This isn't a one time thing it has been constant since they made the staffing change. It's completely unfair to the waitress and busboy and it's also a complete turn off to patrons who have to wait sometimes up to 10 or 15 minutes just for the poor waitress to come and take their order this morning. A couple waited 20 minutes before their order was taken. Also, the owner/manager doesn't get there until almost 9 herself, which means there's no management in the restaurant to help with the register or put out "fires." It. Is. Not. Working. Ally's has been known for their specials for years. They always have amazing special pancakes and special French toast. It's one of the main reasons we still go there. It's our little weekly treat. Lately the specials have been very monotonous. Some sort of jelly put on some French toast or some sort of cream put on a pancake. Not real imaginative for instance, today was banana cream and chocolate pancakes. It was a dollop of banana cream on a chocolate pancake that had little taste. One could've added some fresh bananas, or maybe some whipped cream on top of that. Meanwhile, the special pancakes and special French toast are often made wrong by the staff. This happened this morning. It took them twice to get the pancakes right and three times to get the French toast, right. Again, this is not a one time occur occurrence. We never complain. But we were surprised to still see those items on the bill and not discounted at all, but that's OK. The thing that really drove me to write this review, is that I waited for more than 10 minutes to speak to the owner/manager on our way out. I thought the best way to handle our dissatisfaction would be to speak to her personally. She disappeared into the kitchen, and even after the waitress went to tell her we were waiting to speak with her, she was nowhere to be found. No I understand things come up in the kitchen, but she could've at least came out and said hey I know you're here, I'm dealing with a problem, I'll be right back. But we waited and waited and waited and nothing despite all of the above, that's what irked me the most. I will say this. The food is still very good. And the waitresses and buses are amazing. None of this is their fault. They should all be paid more in dealing with a kitchen that can't get right and an owner that can't seem to figure out good customer service. We will certainly give them another chance, it's part of our routine. But after biting my tongue, I had to let everyone know what was happening at one of our favorite spots in Broward County.

The server that my fiance had last time (I didn't catch his name) also remembered him and stopped by our table to say hello. The prices here are a bit higher for a breakfast cafe, but once you taste everything you'll understand why. It's clear that all the food and drinks use fresh ingredients, and the staff takes pride in it!
