On our anniversary trip we had a wonderful experience here. We did a bit of research before crossing the border and so glad that we did. This restaurant was perfect for our night of celebration. She enjoyed the rotini (not pictured), and I had the rack of lamb. We were both very pleased with the meal and the attention of the staff. We highly recommend this establishment for a date night or gathering of friends.

Held a group work meeting there and had a great time in a private room. The food choices were wide selection and the wine list was adequate with some good value selections. The appearance from outside makes you question but once inside I liked the historic feel. Not until I needed a restroom break did I feel like I needed to explore and once I did wow. There is an actual mill here! Check out the photo. I highly recommend this restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive without being rushed. Make reservations though. It is a bit isolated and back up options might be a drive away.

This place was so close to having a 5* review from me. Located in the heart of Aberfoyle in Puslinch, this mill is an affordable option for fine dining with cozy country charm just as they market it. Rather dim lighting throughout the restaurant as early as 5:30 p.m. First off, we chose sautéed shrimp with olive oil, parsley, garlic, and baguette. The shrimps were perfectly done and the toppings all complimented well it. I really like how it was simply not shrimps alone and almost like a light meal in itself. The prime rib is their usual weekend evening feature and it is apparently limited and by 6:30 p.m. today, they already ran out of it. It was overall well done and the parsley and asparagus further added to the taste. Instead of rice, they had a sizeable portion of mash potato that was not creamy or chunky, but rather smooth. My Atlantic char was rather moist and again the parsley and asparagus were both a lovely addition to my entree. The rice was lean and drier than what I am used to, so hopefully that only means less carbs. The yellow peppercorn sauce added more colours to the plating and presentation rather than actual taste though. Definitely a meal with good value. However, as it is in a smaller town, I do not think that the manager/owner is very friendly or hospitable to people outside of the town or non-Caucasians as every other diner besides us were white. The manager/owner regularly circulated around the restaurant making small talk to almost every guest, but us. Twice, he spent several minutes at every table that was in the same dining room as my beau and I, but he only came to our table once to ask us if everything else was ok at the very end of our dinner. Coincidence, I think not. If he bothered to catch up with the locals and everyone else then it would be nice (and obviously within his means) to be greeted with more than just "Hope you enjoyed your dinner." This subtle difference is enough for me to enjoy this dinner, because of the quality food, but not come back another time. Our server was an older gentleman and although he had adequate service for a fine dining place, he would rather attend to other tables before ours even though we were seated right next to the back kitchen and service area... once or twice is fine, but he did it again at the bill and this along with the manager's subtle difference in friendliness towards us makes us think that they see us as second rate, compared to regulars or local Caucasians. By no means were they rude, but that is what we felt. So overall great place for local Caucasians. You get an additional personal catching up and/or welcome from the manager/owner, too! ;) I rather go back to Bellefountaine Inn for their dinner though if I am ever back west in this area. They had great tasting food AND they made us feel welcomed and like VIPs, too! For a $100 meal for two, they should really have treated us like honoured guests even if we are obviously not locals or regulars.

All dishes are very tasty and freshly house made! The salmon is well cooked with mixed veggies. The flourless chocolate cake is delicious and we shared one slice. All tables are fully booked for new year celebrations so we will come back sometime next year!

I have been to this restaurant a few times in the past and haven't had the opportunity to write a review until now. This one is a catch up review. This restaurant is located in Guelph near Brock Road and love its décor accented heavily with wood coupled with exceptional service. All my visits have been during late afternoon lunches and all of them have been business related. My favorite dish is the Almond Crusted Salmon. The portions of the food here are huge and so was this dish. The crust was near crispy and the salmon soft and delicious. This restaurant has several other signature dishes that are raved by the locals and they are right. The service is courteous and prompt. I seldom miss a visit to this restaurant when I am in the Guelph, Ontario area.

What a nice place for a family brunch to celebrate a birthday. The food was spectacular, the view is relaxing, and the service was top notch. I cant say enough good things about this place. Everyone enjoyed the menu from Maple Salmon to Eggs Benedict, fresh fruit, lamb, prime rib, veggies, pasta, omelets to order, and the list goes on.

Highly recommend the salmon, best I've ever had.

To be honest, it was a little hard to figure out where the restaurant was cuz there are three different restaurants in the building, so I went through the front door and then found the entrance. I decided to sit at a table rather than at the bar, and I'm glad I did. My waitress, Sadia was awesome! He was attentive, made great suggestions. And was very very gracious. I started off with fried calamari, which was a little bit underdone, but still very tasty. Tasty. Next up was a side Caesar salad, which was very good and on point, on to the main course which was the steak frittes which was cooked perfectly. I also had dessert, which was the lemon tart and that was the perfect capper for a meal. Bottom line? This was one of the most delightful meals I have had, perfectly paced, well cooked, and served with a smile. I will definitely be going back anytime. I am definitely coming back to this restaurant when I'm in the area!

For appetizers, the Baked Pecan Crusted Brie was also lacking, it sounded nice on the menu but came out very plain and was only a few tiny pieces of Brie (I thought it was come out as a small wheel). I understand keeping the food menu tightly local, but when it comes to cocktails, folks just want what they want. Borealis has some opportunity here. They don't carry any of the most popular beers, wines, whiskey, gins, or vodka. They insist on taking that choice away and they've made a conscious decision to do so. Aside from making the simple task of ordering your favorite beverage a time consuming task, the end result is mediocre. We couldn't even order a pina colada because it isn't local? The food was generally good with some hits and misses. I do like the fact the the food menu is local themed, but it takes execution to make an impact. We had children and adults in our party so the opinions were mixed. The appetizers were good, notably the prosciutto feta flatbread and soup of the day hit a positive note. Duck satay was mixed but I personally found it tender and flavorful. The crowd was 50/50 on entree's. The fish & chips, confit duck, and lamb garnered positive feedback, others did not. Steak frites was an disappointment. Gray, flavorless, and overcooked. The buttermilk fried "Ontario" chicken was viewed as over-breaded with a thick burnt crust and dry throughout. And the slaw it is paired with was watery and old rather than crisp and fresh. The steelhead trout was overcooked, dry, lacking flavor. The accompanying barley risotto was overwhelming and overpowered the delicate nature of steelhead trout. Ambiance was ok and somewhat modern but some found being seated in the lower dining room at what seemed like a picnic table to be off putting. Service was good and staff was friendly. To be honest, many locals really like Borealis. But for me, as an open minded foodie, they have some opportunities around execution and preparation as well as expanding certain offerings at the bar. And let's be honest--bar happiness equals margin and profit.

On the Wagon: Tastes just as described, though I think this one had dried lemon instead of candied ginger. A nice sipper, especially if you enjoy ginger drinks. 3 Sisters Salad: I love a Mendocino Farms Quinoa Kale salad (which I would order over most delicious junk food options), but this is likely my second favorite salad. The dressing is light and flavorful, slightly sweet, ever so slightly tangy. The puffed wild rice provided an excellent texture, very similar to crunchy quinoa. The chickpeas and corn added a savory and sweet mildly chewy texture. We added the trout and it was excellent on its own. Crispy skin, perfectly cooked and salted.
