Food presentation is well above average. The competition is intense in this neighborhood, so any missteps would instantly put them out of business. The dining area is pleasant but cramped. If you dine in, you can grab a small dish of nachos and make use of the salsa bar. Here you're more likely to run into staff who only hablan Español. I love me some Abelardo's! This time I tried the Adobada burrito. It was lunch rush and I was on my lunch break so I got it togo. The service was awesome and very friendly. I do enjoy exploring the menu and trying new items. Most of the time I enjoy the meal. But today was not a hit for me. The adobada meat wasn't great, real tough and grisly. Also it was a big mess. You know those little places you drive by all the time but never go into? This is one of those places for me, so when a buddy suggested we try it I jumped at the chance. I entered with low expectations and it's probably a good thing I did. VERY small dining area with 8 monitors for the menu. It was overwhelming so I just asked for a chicken burrito with beans and rice. He upsold me to the #7 which is two beef or chicken burritos with sides of beans and rice. I also ordered a fountain drink, and because I didn't specify a size he entered a large, which I assume is sales 101 in the fast food industry. Well played. The gentleman taking orders was doing so for the drive through as well as walk up so when I thought he was talking to me...he wasn't. When I made light of it when he WAS talking to me, he didn't crack a smile at all. A few minutes later they called my order: "Number seven, two chicken burritos!" but when I bit into my burritos they were beef...well, mostly refried beans, but there was some beef too. Small little place with a lot of offerings. I order the same thing and every time eat too fast to remember to take a photo. I order the 5 Mexican carnitas tacos and haven't ever been disappointed. I like to go into the establishment so I can grab a selection of fixins from the salsa bar. Staff could be a bit more welcoming but I've never had an interaction that led to a bad experience. The food was so delicious, but gave me food poisoning. The drive thru was quick and they got out like order before we got to the window.

This Abelardo's is my go to place when I want fast food but not too fast because they prepare everything fresh. The drive thru is a little tricky for those with a manual car because of the incline so prepare for that. I have a hard time not ordering anything but their Beef Fajita Burrito because they are so good and large. It could last for two meals. But the other day I ordered their Super Fries and was not disappointed. You get a layer of fries then several layers of sauces, guacamole, salsa then it is topped off with el carne beef. Talk about several meals in one. I live relatively close by, have tried other locations, but still believe this is the best location. I can't tell you how many times I have checked in here, but I have returned here dozens of times. Abelardo's is great food. This location however, should be leveled for more dry cleaner parking space. They have mop handles securing the front doorway shut. The drive thru is so dilapidated that it resembles a war torn, back alley in the Middle East. Pot holes are so big that you could swim laps in them. The drive thru window is about 8' in the air and the curb sticks out about 2' so bring a long reaching, hook tool to properly retrieve your order from the employee in the window. The order taker doesn't speak, he or she will simply grunt noises that I haven't fully deciphered yet. And when you get home and tear open your food bag, It's like Christmas seeing what you actually got. It's never what you ordered but it's definitely of Mexican cuisine descent. Do yourself a favor and don't even make eye contact with this location. Go to the 84th and Park Dr. location. It's like 2 miles away and 1000% cleaner, friendlier and the dining area is actually used for dining, not a janitors closet. read more

Abelardo's!!! Well I've been to many of their locations. I remember back in the day when the north 90th st was the only one. With as many locations they have now speaks volumes! When you want pretty darn good Mexican that's authentic Abelardo's does the job. Went tonight and had the Carnitas plate. Very good portion of Carnitas. Opted for all beans and no rice. The pico can leave you a bit heavy on the onion breath but the guacamole is always pretty good. I've tried about everything they have to offer. Tacos are good. The chorizo burrito is awesome for breakfast. Open 24hrs so you can always get it when the craving hits. There are places on south 24th that are better but I give Abelardo's 4 stars because of the consistency and availability due to so many locations and being 24 hrs. Boom! If you're coming here for top-notch Mexican food or a fantastic sit down experience you need to stop. Go to the drive thru. Get a burrito. Save yourself some time. I've been a fan of Abelardos for about 5 years at minimum. There's some things they do amazingly well, and there's other things they simply cannot. That said, I will help you navigate the menu in a few simple steps: Burritos, Quesadillas, Stoner Food (Taquitos, Super Fries.etc) I haven't had a single burrito on their menu I haven't liked. Breakfast or Dinner burrito. If you're here, you're probably here because it's 1am and you haven't eaten all day or you're trying to sober up. That's what this establishment does exceedingly well at, especially with it's drive thru. (Don't Drink and Drive.) If you expect a well kept and clean indoor sit down, you won't get that. If you're expecting a taco that's better than taco bell, you won't get that. If you expecting a lot of frills and substitutions, good luck. This is an establishment that is better enjoyed for what it does well rather than berating it for what it does not. It's no secret that this establishment has became a staple around Omaha and is expanding quickly, so it's not going to be disappearing anytime soon. You know a place is bad when it brings you back onto yelp. I ordered a burrito and enchilada combo, the enchilada was a chicken enchilada and was brutal. Pieces of rotisserie chicken sliding around in a whole bunch of sauce and tortilla immediately fell apart. There was sprinkle cheese and lettuce on it too. I took my first bite of my carne asada burrito, it was cold. So I just guessed that it was the guac that was cold. One-liner: Do you like the D'Leon's franchise in Lincoln? You'll probably like this then. Best aspect: Cheap, 24-hour mexican food. Worst aspect: Location Abelardo's is off the beaten path a bit, right off 108th and L St. This place is almost a spitting image of D'Leon's, the 24-hour mexican food chain in Lincoln that is popular among the college-aged crowd. There is one big difference though. D'Leon's uses the much preferred (at least to this reviewer) shredded beef in their fried tacos, as opposed to ground beef. This isn't a deal breaker though, as I do like ground beef tacos as well. I had the two-taco plate, which came presented exactly as D'Leon's presents theirs too- 2 crispy fried tacos with cheese and seasoned ground beef, a bed of shredded lettuce, spanish rice and a huge dollop of cheese-covered refried beans. Also included were two cups of a spicy taco sauce. Also nearly identical to the flavor of D'Leon's, for those of you who have had that. The price of the plate was $5.89, which is very reasonable. I'm a big guy, and was satisfied after the meal. Multiple locations around town would give this 5 stars for me, but if you are out in the 'burbs, or wanna take a quick hop off the interstate (L street east exit), it would behoove you. read more

Came to order dinner to go for the family, $50 later, received a Kids taco meal that was suppose to be a soft taco, asked for chips and cheese as the side. Received a hard shell taco in a box, saturated in grease along with the chips and very minimal cheese sitting in the bottom of the box, my child would not eat it. Menudo that appeared to be days old, tripe was dark in color and dirty, broth was very greasy and tasted blah, tostada was poorly made, had a heaping pile of lettuce on top of it, with the beans that just peeled off the tortilla, and asked for 2 jalapeños and only received one. The only edible item was the taquitos the was 4 for 5.99. I generally frequent a lot of Mexican restaurants but this was by far the worse I have had and I can't say I will ever return. This review is ONLY for the Abelardo's at 5044 S 108th. After perusing Yelp for Mexican food, Abelardo's (as a chain) got me excited. I have lived in and eaten Mexican from Florida to Texas to California, and I am picky about my Mexican. I thought I found the perfect place in Omaha. I know there are higher-rated Abelardo's around town, but I chose this one because it was near my route of travel from A to B. Walking in the door and seeing the place (ambience, menu, etc.) got me really excited. However, that quickly turned to dismay. - Carne asada torta: the bread was old and stale, and the contents of the sandwich were very minimal. Not much between the bread, and the meat was salty. I asked for not lettuce or pico, but it came with lettuce. - Chips/queso: the chips were greasy and the queso was good, but VERY watery. - 2 carne asada burritos w/ rice, beans (#18??): good, but the meat was very salty - Quality of service: the guy at the counter seemed less than friendly. Also, I ordered a large drink but got a medium...which indicates lack of attention to detail and means I have to have my ordered made correct. Also, he had a bad habit of saying "is that all?" within a millisecond of anything...which means I kept having to say "I would also like ___". Dude, just shut up and actively listen, then ask if I'm done if I pause for 2+ seconds. It was literally Me: I'd like a number eightee... Him: Is that all? Me: No, I'd like a number eighteen with a large Pibb Xtra, and... Him: Is that all? Me: No, and also a carne asada torta with no... Him: Is that all? Me: a carne asada sorta with no lettuce or pico, and... Him: Is that all? Me: No lettuce or pico, and a medium Pibb Xtra. Also... Him: Is that all? Food was good, I ordered a few fried tacos and horchata. I was surprised at how good the horchata was! My only complaint is that the service sucked. The cashier didn't greet me at all or even ask if i wanted a receipt, i just stood there looking stupid because I was waiting for her to say something, like "thanks" or "you're good to go". Let me start off by saying I am an Arizona born and raised native and as such nothing is more delicious to me then Mexican food. I recently decided to become a Nebraska citizen but was told by family and friends that I would never be able to find the kind of Mexican food I knew and loved. With that said, I love this place is reminds me so much of some of the good food I loved in AZ. I have been here all of nine days and been to two of the locations for this establishment and was extremely satisfied every time I went. I've eaten here 3 times so far (many, many more to come), and the food is an easy 5 stars. The carne asada burrito is extremely tasty. The churros are a nice dessert as well. Food is very inexpensive, fast, and yummy. This place is open 24 hours. I believe they serve breakfast burritos all day, but I have yet to try one. We ate inside here once, though, and the cashier was not very friendly at all, hence only the 4-star rating. My recommendation is to just use their drive-thru. My go to hole in the wall when I'm out and about near 108th and L. I used to go to this location a lot more when I worked nearby, so I was more than happy to return to my old chomping grounds the other night when I was in the area. All the Abelardo's have the same menu and basically are all equally delicious, at least considering my personal experience. Like the others, this location is open 24 hours and even has a tiny dining room for those times you'd prefer to eat inside. I ordered the California burrito for the first time on my most recent visit. Think carne asada and french fries (plus whatever else they typically throw in for fillings) wrapped up neatly in a tortilla. Add in your favorite salsa or two from the salsa bar and we're in business. I was practically starving by the time I had my first bite, but it was glorious. Abelardo's always manages to fill my belly with deliciousness. I mean I've even happily missed Husker games to smash a couple tacos from here.
