    Birthday cake

8am I forgot to order my 94 year old moms birthday cake. she is in rehab from a appendix bursting I want to have a cake for her and the staff at the rehabilitation facility I walked into Abbates bakery and askied if there was any way possible to make me a giant cake for her and the staff. Answer: no problem we can have it in two hours. mom's 94 birthday was a success thanks to the friendly and wonderful staff at Abbates bakery. everyone loved the cake it was completely devoured by everyone. I have been going there for twenty years awesome baked good. thank you so much.

First, let me say that we love the pastries here! Our face are the apple turnovers and cinnamon buns. I would give 5 stars for that. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the carrot cake. I ordered it early in the week for yesterday-my husbands birthday- and when I called in the am to make sure it was ready, it was not ready but could have it done in 10 min. The cake looked beautiful but when we cut into last night, it was mostly cream cheese filling and frosting! Super thick layers of cream cheese/frosting. Hardly any carrot cake. It looked like they baked one huge 7 in round and unevenly cut the slabs and then just loaded it with the cream cheese filling. Take a look at the photo. We were extremely disappointed.

#1 review for 100 December challenge When in Jersy have to have a cannoli and maybe even a sfogliatelle. These were a special treat before we left delivered from this amazing bakery that has a rich history and deep Italian roots. The Abbate family from Cisini a small town in Sicily started their 1st bakery in Brooklyn NY in 1976.The Abbate family moved to another location in Brooklyn and finally found their 3rd brick and mortar in Matawan. NJ home since 2000. 46 years of quality baked goods is evident in the delicate crust in the sfogliatelle and perfectly sweetened creme inside. Besides their wide variety of pastries and cakes, they also sell cannoli kits in case you want to create your own in small& large sizes . Pizza dough is also sold which I found interesting on their website .I make my own but love that that is available, too. Next time in Matawan, will definitely be making a return visit.

Food and service are great, this time I purchased bread and brownies on Easter Sunday, long long line and the employees expertly and efficiently moved the line, waited 35 min to get to counter and it's worth the wait, nice signage from a place in my history Bayridge Brooklyn, lived on Bayridge av right down the block!

    A little something for dessert...

I hail from Brookly where we have the best Italian bakeries you have ever been graced. When I moved here to New Jersey, I wasn't so sure I would ever find another bakery like the ones from Brooklyn. I was so heartbroken. There will never be bakeries as good as the ones in Brooklyn. Well, I can always admit when I am wrong and enter Abbate Bakery. This family owned Italian bakery originated from Brooklyn. They opened this bakery in Matawan, NJ and we can now save travel time and all the money from tolls and come here. Talk about the convenience! As you walk into the bakery, you can't help but smell all the wonderful aromas of their pastries. This wonderful Italian bakery has cookies, custom cakes, cheesecakes, pies, croissants, biscottis, savory breads, rolls, and the list goes on. Whenever I am in the neighborhood, I will always stop in to pick several items. On average, I get two bags/boxes of treats: one to give to my family and friends and another goodie bag to keep which is usually their biscottis. Their original biscottis are out of this world but I also enjoy chocolate chip with hazelnut biscottis. The place has all sorts of adorable gifts to add to your baked goods, as well. You can purchase mugs and adorable saucers to go with the mugs, coffee bean bags, and cute stuffed animals to add to a gift box to give as a gift. The employees there are exceptionally knowledgeable and polite and always go above and beyond to accomodate you. One of my biggest pet peeves is the cleanliness. If the place is filthy but the food is fabulous, to be honest, I would not spend my money at that type of establishment. My fear is if they can't even clean and tidy up the place, they don't have pride. This place may be small but it is extremely tidy and organized. I checked to see if there's any stickiness around and thankfully there are none. Found my bakery and I no longer have to go back to Brooklyn just to get them. Score!!! Doing my happy dance!

I decided I wanted to treat myself to a little cake. I usually visit a local bakery for cakes, mini desserts, and cannolis. It's generally pretty good, although it can be a bit hit or miss depending on what you order. While searching online for bakeries nearby, this place came up with stellar reviews. I was surprised to see it was only about an 11-minute drive from my house, so I decided to make the trip. The bakery was set up much like a classic neighborhood bakery, with beautiful cakes displayed along one side and cases filled with mini desserts, pastries, cookies, and cannolis. While chatting with the staff, I mentioned the bakery I usually go to. That's when they told me that bakery actually gets its cakes from Normandie. I found that fascinating because I had always assumed every bakery made its own cakes from scratch. Suddenly, a lot made sense. I had originally planned on buying a small birthday cake, but since it was only for two people, I decided to put together an assortment of mini desserts instead. I picked up tiramisu, carrot cake, lemon cake, and several other mini cakes. Every single one was outstanding. Not one dessert missed the mark. The carrot cake was moist, the tiramisu was perfectly balanced, and the lemon cake was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, high-quality, and thoughtfully made. The minis were slightly smaller than the ones I'm used to buying elsewhere, but honestly, they were the perfect size. Now that I know where those cakes are actually coming from, I'll happily make the extra 11-minute drive and buy directly from the source. This will absolutely be my new go-to bakery for birthdays, special occasions, and hostess gifts. A wonderful birthday discovery that turned into finding my new favorite bakery.

I had the latter recently and a last minute Yelp search led me to Main Street Donuts! I called and spoke with a very helpful and patient person on their team that helped me with the perfect platter and additional donut order for my event of about 50. I was already on cloud 9 that we had this additional sweet treat added to the night when I got a call from the owner who asked what kind of event they would be for and if we would like our company logo added to them - a perfect bonus! The donuts were ready on time, they were a HIT and I now have a favorite sweet treat spot. If you are a donut fan, make the stop in.
