Birthday cake - A rectangular birthday cake with white frosting, decorated with pink roses and green leaves, and a message written in red icing.

8am I forgot to order my 94 year old moms birthday cake. she is in rehab from a appendix bursting I want to have a cake for her and the staff at the rehabilitation facility I walked into Abbates bakery and askied if there was any way possible to make me a giant cake for her and the staff. Answer: no problem we can have it in two hours. mom's 94 birthday was a success thanks to the friendly and wonderful staff at Abbates bakery. everyone loved the cake it was completely devoured by everyone. I have been going there for twenty years awesome baked good. thank you so much.

First, let me say that we love the pastries here! Our face are the apple turnovers and cinnamon buns. I would give 5 stars for that. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the carrot cake. I ordered it early in the week for yesterday-my husbands birthday- and when I called in the am to make sure it was ready, it was not ready but could have it done in 10 min. The cake looked beautiful but when we cut into last night, it was mostly cream cheese filling and frosting! Super thick layers of cream cheese/frosting. Hardly any carrot cake. It looked like they baked one huge 7 in round and unevenly cut the slabs and then just loaded it with the cream cheese filling. Take a look at the photo. We were extremely disappointed.

These were delicious - A box contains croissants topped with powdered sugar, a cannoli with chocolate chips, and other pastries with cream filling, inside a bakery box.

#1 review for 100 December challenge When in Jersy have to have a cannoli and maybe even a sfogliatelle. These were a special treat before we left delivered from this amazing bakery that has a rich history and deep Italian roots. The Abbate family from Cisini a small town in Sicily started their 1st bakery in Brooklyn NY in 1976.The Abbate family moved to another location in Brooklyn and finally found their 3rd brick and mortar in Matawan. NJ home since 2000. 46 years of quality baked goods is evident in the delicate crust in the sfogliatelle and perfectly sweetened creme inside. Besides their wide variety of pastries and cakes, they also sell cannoli kits in case you want to create your own in small& large sizes . Pizza dough is also sold which I found interesting on their website .I make my own but love that that is available, too. Next time in Matawan, will definitely be making a return visit.

Food and service are great, this time I purchased bread and brownies on Easter Sunday, long long line and the employees expertly and efficiently moved the line, waited 35 min to get to counter and it's worth the wait, nice signage from a place in my history Bayridge Brooklyn, lived on Bayridge av right down the block!

A little something for dessert...

DeMARCO'S has been a local favorite for 50 years, and it's easy to see why! This family-owned…read moreItalian market truly does it all -- and does it well. They have a legendary deli counter loaded with subs, wraps, cheeses, soups, sauces, and their famous fresh-baked bread. The butcher counter is top-notch -- and you've got to try the chicken cutlets, they're some of the best around. Their fresh mozzarella is made daily, and the baked goods (bread, pastries, cookies) are always fresh and impossible to resist. They even have a well-stocked pantry section with all the Italian essentials -- from jars of their own house-made sauce to Antonio's pasta and more. You can even grab Nasto's ice cream for dessert! One of my favorite things about DeMARCO'S is their family dinners, which feed 4-6 people and make weeknights so much easier. I tried the Sunday Sauce Family Dinner and it absolutely did not disappoint -- hearty, homemade, and full of that comforting Italian flavor. And if you're hosting a gathering or event, their catering menu is enormous -- seriously one of the biggest and most impressive I've ever seen. Whatever you need, they've got it covered. DeMARCO'S is one of those places that feels like home -- friendly service, fresh ingredients, and food made with care. Congratulations to this Aberdeen staple on 50 delicious years... and here's to many more!

I had the latter recently and a last minute Yelp search led me to Main Street Donuts! I called and spoke with a very helpful and patient person on their team that helped me with the perfect platter and additional donut order for my event of about 50. I was already on cloud 9 that we had this additional sweet treat added to the night when I got a call from the owner who asked what kind of event they would be for and if we would like our company logo added to them - a perfect bonus! The donuts were ready on time, they were a HIT and I now have a favorite sweet treat spot. If you are a donut fan, make the stop in. Whether you are looking for trays for a party or event, or just a single sweet treat, you'll love it. The space is actually massive, and has plenty of space if you want to stay and snack. Enjoy!

Unfortunately, the person behind the counter (owner? manager? hard to tell) was deep in a personal conversation. I stood there waiting, trying to be patient. After about thirty seconds, he looked over and said, "I'll be right with you." Fair enough, except he went right back to chatting, laughing, and completely ignoring the customers standing there. My wife sat down while I kept waiting, watching the same scene play out. No rush, no acknowledgment, just a full-on conversation while I stood there like an unpaid extra in someone else's coffee break. After another half minute, I gave up. Said "this is stupid" and walked out. First visit, last visit. Plenty of donut shops in this world where customers aren't invisible.
