Had a good time at Alternate Ending! We didn't have a res on a Saturday night but they were able to accommodate our party of 5. The place was packed with families and a lot of people by the bar watching World Cup games. The sourdough pizza was delicious. We also ordered the pretzel bites and boneless wings, which were also great. I forgot the beer I drank but it was an IPA and it very smooth!

This place quickly became my fiance's favorite after trying it for the first time recently-my family loves this place, mainly my dad for the beer but the food and atmosphere is great! We are even considering it as an option for our wedding/engagement party. We got a few appetizers-nachos, hummus & pita and the pretzel bites, then split the Ribeye Cheesesteak. He has never been a beer person and has now went back twice to get a case of several of their beers as he's so excited to share them now with my dad! I have never had a long wait time, every person is so accommodating and the staff is very friendly.

A great brewery. Has Talula's inside, so you can delicious Detroit style pizza. They have gift cards as well if you need a holiday gift. Only downfall is there is no outside area.

Great place to bring your furry loved one. We sat outside. It was a great night to be dining outside. I ordered the French onion soup which was delicious and seasoned very well. For dinner I ordered the double smashed La Pat La Frieda burgers with bacon.. it comes with a side of crispy shoestring fries. Enjoyed every bite!!! Did a flight of beer. Settled with the Dads Issues IPA. Loved it!! Service was on point!! They are having a smashing event called the Brewery Derby, Saturday May3. We will be back!! I recommend AE beer!!

They brew their own beers and ciders here. Everything here was good. They have different specials everyday. Today when we went there specials was a cali or a veggie burger and get a beer for free. I ordered a cowboys from hell burger. I asked for the aioli on the side bc it was made with some habanero peppers. And it was fine for me. I just spread it on my burger as I was eating it. The fries were cooked perfectly. I also love the fact that the kitchen is open bc I do love to watch people prepare my food. They brew and sell cans or beer and cider here and the cans so super cute and from what I tasted, I can tell the drinks are good. 10/10......would come back. Would recommend.

Beers have definitely gotten better here. We had two juicy IPAs and both were great. For dinner we had two Detroit style pizzas - Basic B*tch (mozz, mascarpone, squash, caramelized onions, pumpkin spice candied bacon) and You've Got Kale (vodka sauce, creamed kale, vegan pepperoni, mozz, pickled cherry pepper). Much to my husband's surprise - he (and I) liked the vegan pie best!

Total Unconsciousness and Chuckleheads. Yes, half pour for Total Unconsciousness because of the 10% ABV.

Alternate Ending, it's been awhile. The beer menu is scaled down, the food menu is scaled down, portion size is scaled down, foot traffic is down and the To-go beer selection is scaled down. What's up? Ambiance is same but with less attendance. The service is always the best. We ordered apps, namely, Curds your Way, Crispy Cauliflower Bites and the Heritage Meatballs. The Curds, dipped in batter, fried and served with our choice of sauce, classic marinara. Crispy, squishy, squeaky and good! The Heritage Meatballs, served in marinara with a dallop of lemon ricotta, were a bit dense and dry. Double dipping into the marinara was a must. Sadly, the Crispy Cauliflower Bites with Honey Sesame Sauce was anything but crispy. Swimming in sauce, any crispness was decimated, leaving soggy cauliflower, reminiscent of a "steam in a bag" frozen sauced veggies. It was an experience with an alternate ending. Adios!

First and foremost the entire staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating! A very homey and comfortable environment that is set by the staff! I've had Detroit style pizza before, not of this caliber. The dough is amazing, and accompanied by quality toppings makes it a home-run pie. Wings were great, super meaty and tons of flavor. Cheese steak was very good, despite being a tad dry for some bites! Awesome place for food, beverages, and fun!

What an amazing spot!!! So many pizza choices and their beer is fantastic!! We were able to get a table near the bar so the wait time to be seated was null!! Our server was awesome! He recommended some great beer that I loved, wanted to take a six pack but they were out of it because it was so popular. I'll definitely be back! If you're in the area you need to stop in. I recommend you get there early as seating fills up so fast but now I know why!

My husband and I stumbled upon their "Beer and Burger" Wednesday purely by chance. We're in the middle of renovations for our bathrooms and kitchen. Hunting for tiles, cabinets, and everything else has left us exhausted and starving. Cooking dinner was the absolute last thing we wanted to do. We probably should have prepared some food beforehand, but to be honest, we were drained and that is the last thing we would want to do. Knowing my husband's fervor for beer, he suggested Alternate Ending. We both craved burgers, and lucky for us, their Wednesday special was a burger and beer for just $20! They have a wide selection of beers to choose from, and the burgers come in a variety of options, including a vegan patty and a Hawaiian pulled pork option. We went for the pulled pork and the classic cheeseburger. Both were incredibly juicy and cooked exactly how we like them. They came with a mountain of fries. Fun fact: This place used to be the Matawan movie theater. They even have a two tables with the original movie theater seats as a fun throwback. They also have a dedicated area for families with young children, complete with a movie screen to keep them entertained and give parents some peace of mind. And if beer isn't your thing, they also serve wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks. Parking is super easy too, with a giant lot shared by them and other nearby stores. No

Ask the Community - Alternate Ending Beer Co.

How is food served. I thought NJ breweries could not have kitchens?

They have a kitchen. They cook everything on site. Whatever the state requires them to have to have a kitchen and a brewery they have.

    Do you allow dogs?

We do allow dogs on our outdoor patio and inside our igloos, as long as they are leashed, trained, and remain with their owners at all times. We only allow service animals inside the taproom. The patio should open soon for spring - please call ahead…

Do you have gluten free options?

Yes we do! All of our GF options are noted on our menu, which you can find on our website (www.aebeer.com).

I was actually surprising my son with a Ralph's ice after a baseball game before our long ride home and mentioned how we would always get an ice after Denino's and I look up to see them three doors down. I'm so glad I went in. A chef taking an apple break and the three girls at the front welcomed me in. They along with another customer (Staten Island transplant) said I would not be disappointed. I immediately ordered five pies, uncut and underdone to take on my way. Huge shout out to the pizza maker for knowing exactly what I wanted and making it all to perfection. When we finally got home, we broke out the chicken, bacon ranch (ranch on side and added after heating) and a plain. Oh my gosh, just like I remembered, the crust, the sauce, just the right amount of cheese. Absolutely EPIC! The other three pies (plain, pepperoni, meatball) have gone into the deep freeze (after being completely cooled and re-wrapped outside the cardboard box) and will be savored for another day. Most likely the weekend, who am I kidding? Thank you for a trip down memory lane. And thank you for the friendly hospitality! Do yourself a favor and have yourself a taste of greatness. When I picked up my order I asked for just a side scoop of ricotta cheese and explained why. The young girl at the register didn't know what to do. I told the manager that I asked for no ricotta cheese in the calzone but just on the side and explained again to him. He simply walked away! I was like you are charging me $2.00 for a tiny scoop of ricotta cheese when it wasn't in the calzone??? I did not ask for "extra" ricotta cheese. If I did, then the extra charge is justifiable. The calzone and the other items I ordered were very good but I have to say, it put a very bad taste in my mouth. I apologized to the two girls at the register that I would have preferred to have put that $2.00 in the tip jug but was so angry. I know it was not their fault but I said it loud enough hoping the manager heard me. I'm not sure if I will go back there and find it funny over a scoop of ricotta but it's just the principle of the situation.

What I didn't expect was a full lineup of elevated, abundant, and reasonably priced dinner specials that turned my quick stop into a full-on feast. This place is absolutely not just a pizzeria. I started with the stuffed zucchini appetizer--so fresh and flavorful--and the pork osso buco, which was tender, comforting, and honestly restaurant-quality. From there I tasted the Tuscan haddock, the chicken balsamico, and the pappardelle... every single dish was delicious. Portions are generous too, so come hungry. I left stuffed in the best way. The bar pie? Amazing. Thin, crispy, full of flavor--exactly the kind of pie that deserves attention. Dave Portnoy, you need to get down to Matawan for this one. There is also an area for private gatherings. Another fun surprise: they carry L&B Spumoni by the quart and Nasto's gelato, which is such a treat to see on the menu. If you're in the area, definitely come for the bar pie--but stay for dinner. You'll love it just as much as I did.
