Sat at the bar & ordered the grilled shrimp app. Mistakenly the bartender thought I ordered a different shrimp dish so I had to wait a little bit for it - NP, things happen. Very disappointed by our recent visit to Ader's Tavern, it was a quiet Sunday evening and our party of 4 decided to go for Patty Melts for a light dinner. Very friendly workers greeted us, very talkative but the bread was burnt and the burgers were very small. The bartender did say he was sorry for our burnt offering and he would have the cook replace the bread.We should have sent them back and asked for a redo but we didn't, that's on us. We will go again and be more vocal if this happens again. read more

This is a local hole in the wall place that caters mostly to neighborhood locals. The food was ok but the service was terrible. It was our first time there and we had an issue when someone hit my car in there lot. The owner i spoke to could care less "Not my problem that my cameras do not work" Do not recommend - take your business elsewhere. read more

First time here, went with friends last night on a Thursday at 5:40. There was no one sitting at tables in the upper section. We got our drinks right away then waited at least 25 minutes for waiter to come back to take our order. Food doesn't come out until after 6:30. I had pub burger, the ratio of burger to oversized roll was ridiculous, my husband asked for toasted rye bread for his sandwich and it was cold. By now the place was busy because of trivia night so we had to wait again a very long time for the check. Didn't get out of there until after 7:30. We will not be back read more

I heard of this place from a friend who mentioned Aders having one of the best burgers in NJ. I decided to give them a try since they weren't too far from home, but didn't expect much, by judging the place from the exterior. This is hole in the wall pub with mostly regulars, and I'm guessing the isolated location is the reason the secrets not out of the bag yet. Their burgers are AWESOME. They're huge and extremely reasonably priced, which made me appreciate them more. Fries were ok, but the burger was the Diamond in the rough. Been here about 10x so far and I've never been disappointed. Fries are OK, and chicken fingers are decent, but the best thing I've had is certainly their burgers. I've tried a few varieties, but my fav is the cheese/mushrooms/onions. You can't beat it for the price. Plus, the beers on tap and the service are great! Def give this place a shot. Aders is definitely a hometown dive bar with pretty good burgers and beer. The owners are very personable and a couple of friendly characters who makes everyone feel welcome. This place is filled with regulars and non-regulars who stop in for a quick beer and end up staying for a bite to eat. The menu is pretty extensive, and they even do "Steak and Eggs" with either a bloody Mary or a Guinness that comes with the meal, on Sunday mornings! Well, they did the last time we were there, it's been a while. And you can't beat the price!! They have not raised the prices to exorbitantly as others around them. I'm a big fan of Ader's Tavern! It's a very well run pub/eatery with terrific staff, excellent surroundings, good food, and fare pricing. You can get breakfast lunch or dinner and it will be consistently good. Daily and weekly specials and an interesting mix of cultural diversity on the menu. There is lots of room in this seemingly small place and there is an open air covered deck and a back yard area great for private events and BBQs. Private party rates are fare and the owner is very interested in seeing that your party is a success. I held a giant New Year party there is Year with over 85 guest and a live band and the place still had more room. This may become a New Year tradition, we shall see. Overall if you are in Union Beach you must have an Ader's Burger. Definitely drop in for lunch or dinner. Have a beer and you'll see this place is a hidden gem. read more

UNION BEACH: a local bar and restaurant, Ader's Tavern has a varied menu with an Italian flair. We sat outside in their cute covered deck and had a really good meal. Brie was offered a water bowl and on this hot day, it was nice to be in the shade. Brie also checked out the Union Beach waterfront, which was so pretty and has a great view of NYC. Dogs are not allowed on the beach or walkway, but there is a sidewalk parallel to it where they are allowed. read more

After it was heated it was decent tasting. The bangers and mash were nothing special. Mashed potatoes were lacking flavor, sausage was okay but a little dry. Summary, followed by full review: The service was nonexistent, the food, outside of the fries and chili, was bad (greasy & incredibly dry burgers), and it took forever to get our food - 3 burgers and an order of fried shrimp somehow took close to an hour. This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The four of us went here today and arrived around 6:15 PM. We sat down and a waitress appeared a little later to take our orders. She started to walk away after three of us ordered our entrees. We ordered three appetizers to start: the Chili, the Pretzel Sticks, and the Eggplant Fries. Our waitress told us that she would have to check with the kitchen for the eggplant fries, and she told us they were out of them. Around 6:40, we finally got our appetizers, and the Pretzel Sticks had no cheddar cheese sauce - our waitress appeared a few minutes later, and we asked about the sauce, and she stated that there was no cheese sauce. They were tasty, but we would have never ordered the pretzels if we had known that. The chili was good, however. For dinner, we ordered 3 burgers and the fried shrimp. We also ordered a side of Cheddar Bacon Fries. We did not get our food until almost an hour later. Our orders were the Ader's Burger (well done), the My Favorite Burger (well done), and the Cluck & Moo Burger (rare). This part of the meal was just perplexing - today I learned that it is possible for a burger to be dry and insanely greasy at the same time. The burgers were beyond well done - even the one that was ordered rare. The Cluck & Moo Burger is supposed to have a fried egg on top, but instead it was scrambled, severely scrambled. The fried shrimp was dripping with grease - and it was also very tough. The fries were good - they were incredibly hot, they tasted like they just came out of the fryer, which makes us think they totally forgot about us. The service was horrible - the waitress didn't ask us how our food was, and she only appeared a few times throughout the meal. She never stopped by to tell us why our food was taking so long - after she delivered the burgers (but not the shrimp!) she told us "Oh there's that large party over there" After trying to eat the food, we decided to not eat these incredibly greasy things any more, and sat there for a few minutes, hoping our waitress would appear to ask us how the food was. That never happened. We started to stand up, stretch, and look like we were ready to go, when suddenly, someone appeared! Then we requested our bill, saw the outrageous price ($90 for 3 burgers, some fried shrimp, and 2 appetizers!), paid, and left to go eat some food at home. PROS: The fries were decent. The chili was good CONS: The service - it was nonexistent The burgers - they were drier than the desert and incredibly greasy at the same time, and all of them were as hard as hockey pucks The fried shrimp - incredibly greasy It took 45 minutes to get our dinner - burgers and shrimp should never take that long. read more

I had the pub burger with cheese (medium) and my buddy had the California burger ( medium rare).. and we ordered a side of Ader's Fries- comes with chipotle mayo. 1. Fries were awesome!! Big , crisp and the sauce had a really nice kick!!! They also gave generous portions. 2. The Burgers were Fantastic!! Both cooked perfectly! Juicy and tasty!! My wife and I along with my 9 year old son came here because of a restaurant.com coupon. I wouldn't go back with him again, since it's a bar basically, but we had the coupon and decided to stick it out at one of the tables. This place is obviously coming back from hurricane Sandy and has many construction things in the works, but my wife and I were happy to give back with a visit to this local place and were not disappointed with the food. If you go, you must have the french onion soup, I think it's the best I've ever had. Pretty sure she added Marsala wine to it, but it was wonderful. I forget the name of the burger I ordered, but it had fried onions, cheese and bacon. This thing was the biggest burger I had ever gotten anywhere in the area and awesome. My wife got the fish and chips and was equally happy. Nice portions and great food, but you're going into a local bar, not a restaurant. The bartender Cheryl came and introduced herself, shook my hand. She was very nice. I ordered a burger and Kelly fries and her recommendation and it was amazing.
