Tried this establishment tucked away in a residential area of Union Beach for the first time.It was a Monday night and not that busy. Rob,the bartender was real pro at his job and seemed to be well liked by all in attendance. I read that they were TAPPED as the best burger in Monmouth County... My girl and I went with the Ader burger with the onions & mushrooms... As said in the movie Pulp Fiction... "Now that is one tasty burger" After living in Matawan for the past 15 years. Four of us went there on 7/16/20. I understand it was during a pandemic. We went there at 4:00 and sat in the back. No one else was in this back area which was good. The first server, who was wearing a mask, came and took our drink order- four seltzers with lime. A second server (who was our server for the rest of the time) brought out the seltzers and was not wearing a mask. She said she forgot to put it on and was going to get it. I did not drink the seltzer and asked for another one. (The other three people drank the ones given to them.) I ordered a black and blue burger no Cajun spice medium well and said I didn't want it burnt but no pink inside. We were told we could have onion rings, but not advised that there was an additional charge for them. I always feel that an additional charge should be mentioned so that the person can have the option of accepting it or not. Three of us had onion rings. The fourth person had a bean burger and a Greek salad. I only ate the onion rings and they were very good. I did not eat the burger because it was completely pink inside. Later on when I asked for a box, she said I could have sent it back. I did not want people handling my food any more than necessary and the blue cheese was already melted. I thought I would cook it more when I got home, but wound up throwing it out so $13.45 was expensive for a few onion rings. The bill came to $69 before tip. The guy who had the Greek salad said the bill was expensive for what we had and his Greek salad was skimpy ($8.95). The other couple had been there before. We had not been there before. Overall this was not a good experience. I know it is a hard time for restaurants so I offer this as constructive criticism in the hopes that they will get it right in the future. I love Aders. Best little tavern in town. Great atmosphere and great friendly staff. Rob the bartender is fantastic. He always knows what I'm drinking and starts pouring our drinks before we sit down. Food has always been good. Love the French Onion Soup, pizza and appetizers. They have steak and eggs breakfast on Sundays which is a hit with many. My only complaint is recently the French Onion Soup which I look forward to didn't seem the same. It tasted more of canned soup and recently waited almost an hour for an appetizer at the bar, but they were short staffed. First time here and it was absolutely lovely. We got a salad and a burger. Got the lava fries also just to try, everything was great. Our server was nice enough. My wife, her sister and I had dinner on Friday night at Ader's. We sat in the dining room up to the left of the bar. We had drinks, cheesy chips and salsa, salads, and fish n chips. You get to hear what's going on in the community and catch up on the gossip... We usually like this place, especially their burgers and cheese steaks. However, I recently ordered a Guinness and it was very off smelling and tasting, kinda rancid. I don't think they keep the draft beer lines clean, which a good pub must do every few weeks. I have travelled all over the US and have been to Ireland. I know what a Guinness should taste like. I didn't complain, but ordered a draft yeungling next. This too had a funk odor but not nearly as bad as the Guinness. Stick with the bottled beer, hope the owner sees this and fixes, four star otherwise.. read more

The first time I went into Ader's was with a group of volunteers who was helping rebuild our home during Hurricane Sandy's aftermath. The owner herself, in a show of gratitude to the volunteers, gave us all complimentary dessert and said thank you. It was a very nice touch and I said to myself I'd definitely be back. Now I'm a regular. Best Burgers EVAH Juicy, fresh, hand-pressed meat. No frozen patties here. They accommodate special needs people like me who like to change their burgers into their own creations. I always get the "Black and Blue" with BBQ sauce and bacon added. Yum. Don't believe me? Come try them out on a Tuesday which is half-priced burger day. You won't be disappointed. Their 'real drinks' are excellent, their summer mojito is refreshing and crisp, for Saint Paddy's Day they had a green sangria which was funky, delicious and light. Their beers are always ice cold. The crowd has a TON of regulars of ALL ages. The bartenders will remember you if you come in more than once. By the third time my beer was on the bar when I walked in. They have a ton of seating and so many TVs that you can pretty much watch any game you want to. They cater and you can host parties there too. This past weekend I ordered the pizza for the first time. Thin crust and delicious. I love their wings. Their chili is hearty and HOT. They have specials pretty much every day and every holiday. I don't know why all these negative reviews just stopped in for a couple of Bloody Mary's and a dirty martini and ended up getting a shepherds pie and chili both of which were phenomenal. But what really stole the show for me was the amazing Bloody Mary. Seriously $4.50 for the most delicious Bloody Mary I've ever had in my life. Tasted like homemade not that mix crap. I can honestly and wholeheartedly say this place wowed me beyond belief. And everybody and I mean EVERYBODY was as friendly as can be I can't wait to come back for their Sunday steak eggs and bloody Mary's for $14.95. What an amazing place. Me and my boyfriend went today for veteran's day. They did a 15% veteran discount which was awesome. Super comfy hometown atmosphere, even first timers will fit right in! Bartender was extremely attentive and friendly. Burgers are AMAZING and Kelly fries are a must have. Richie Moe is a sweetheart and invites you into the Ader's family with open arms. My family and I visited Ader's Tavern on last Sunday evening! I was excited to try top burger in Monmouth County! Loved the local atmosphere! We sat down quickly and we offered drinks! There was only one person working the bar and tables and he looked exhausted! We ordered the 2 of us Ader's burger and another person ordered a different burger. The fries were 100% better than the burger. All the burgers looked preformed and had been precooked. I have no idea why the waiter/bar keep and probably the cook asked us how we would like the burger???? The burgers were very dry, buns were dry and a bit stale (no not grilled or heated) the onions were tasty! Thank God the beer was refreshing but one elder person got a beer without a glass. How NJ.com ranked Ader's over Barnacle Bill's freshly made and grilled juicy burger with local brews is way beyond me! Will go to Anchor Inn next time! read more

Heard about this place on nj.com where they said they have the best burgers in Monmouth County. First time here so we came for 1/2 price burgers. I think there was only one server on because she was running around like crazy. She was very attentive on drinks though. Food took a really long time. Our burgers ended up being overlooked. We wanted med rare but they came out well done. I didn't want to ask them to recook it because I was starving. I would try this place again in hopes I could really try their burgers the way I like them. I think they weren't expecting it to be busy (it was a nice day out). Where do you start with a place like Aders? The staff? the food? I don't know where but it's all fantastic. The staff is always friendly polite and yes some actually remember my drink without me telling them what I want. The daily specials are really good. The chef makes alot of excellent dishes. Yes he's not a cook. He's an artist. Burgers are best hands down no matter what the press says. Atmosphere is enjoyable enough to bring the kids. Adorable place, excellent food and service. Music was SO loud we couldn't even have a conversation or order our drinks.
