There's usually a crowd of locals there who either ignore you or let you jump in on the conversation. Once again, we used Yelp to find a place for lunch, and were not disappointed. Our bartender/server, James was personable and delivered our food quickly. It was a slow, rainy Thursday at 12;30PM so the place was almost empty. There was a lunch special ($2 off all burgers) and we went with the Black and Bleu Smash Burger as well as the BBQ Bacon Smash Burger. Both were excellent and came with fries that were hot and crispy. The beer selection is fairly good and I went with a 007XX from Carton Brewing (just up the road). The place is basically a road house (Nic's Hometown Tavern) with very little ambiance, but was welcoming. Hey Burger seems to be an additional tag. One step up from a dive bar and I can imagine that it gets pretty busy later in the day. If in the area, I will stop in again! read more

Don't be put off by the 'roadhouse' vibe of the place, the staff and folks hanging around the bar were quite welcoming. Terrific smash type burger-nice sear from the flat top, with those crinkly, burnt edges that define this style burger. Is that Old Bay on the fries? It works! read more

A fifth star for being in a dive bar... Saw an article recently about Hey Burger online. If you're looking for this place, they are located inside of Nic's Hometown Tavern. That said, I came in earlier today right after they opened. For her, #1 smash burger. That had some kind of special sauce, pickle, cheese and onion. I chose the Brunch smash burger. That one had a fried egg and added pork roll. Or you can add bacon instead. They were both very good. Prices are about $15-17 each. For what it's worth, there are more than just burgers on the menu. And yes I had a cold one at the bar while waiting for my order. Glad I found this place. :) read more

Hey Burger is the only place in town where you can get delicious food late night - Kitchen is open until midnight. The wings are delicious and The Burger, Tornado Potato, Mac and Cheese Bites are also delicious. Vinny who runs the kitchen is a great guy. Awesome place for a burger! But it's definitely not cheap. A burger meal is around $12-15. I've only tried the #1 smash burger and fries... thought the fries were nice and crispy. Burger is like a mix of shake shack and in and out depending on what kind you get - the burger sauce is delish. This has definitely become our new burger spot and has replaced our diner run. George Motz would be proud of this Burger joint. The smash burgers are done perfect. Great smash, a web of delicious meat smothered in cheese and sauce and served with a soft potato bun and fresh pickles and lettuce. The burger blew me away and it is amazing how simple it is. I will go back. I will share with my family. I will take pictures. The onion chips are amazing as well and a brilliant idea. No more onion slipping completely our of the ring! They were very crispy and seasoned very well. The side of sauce that comes with them was a bit salty for me but they went well with the cheese sauce and with the side of burger sauce I asked for. Went to Nic's a couple of times for some burgers and a beer with friends. I have to admit that the owner of Hey Burger is a friend of mine but with that being said up front, ya gotta try the food! Impossible to find...why? Because it's inside a bar. So this little gem is hidden inside a bar called nics tavern. It was worth making all those jug handle u turns til we found it. The Burgers are pretty good. They give you two smash style pattys on the burger and whatever you want in it. We ordered the nachos which were decent and the wings were just ok but the burger's definitely made up for it. The food is a little on the pricey side for the area. A burger and fries is almost $20. There's a bar side and few high tables to sit at. Good selection of beer on tap. You can play lotto all day. You can also take home some canned and bottled beer from here as well. Nice atmosphere. Ok. I'm always on the lookout for a good burger. After a long, hard day it's one of my comfort foods. I have been interested in Hey Burger after reading some reviews. I wanted to try it. I went on Door Dash on one of those days and finally decided to try Hey Burger. This was my experience. The burger is really good. They use quality meats and season them well, which a lot of places don't. The "smash" was a nice touch. The burger was very satisfying. Had a ton of flavor and the sauce compliments it perfectly. I also ordered the potato tower. As a delivery, this did not translate well for delivery. It arrived soggy and inedible. I tried to revive it in my air fryer but even that didn't do the job. So, my suggestion is avoid the tornado potatoes if you are getting delivery. They might be perfect served in the restaurant but did not travel well on delivery. The fries did. Ask for a side of burger sauce, they complimented each other deliciously. This is not a cheap meal for burgers and fries. For two of us it was close to $50. That's a lot for burgers and fries, for two people, especially when the potato tower was almost $8 dollars. And it wasn't good for delivery. But it's a good burger. Ranks higher than most burger restaurants in our area. Only Hearthly Burger, Ce La Vie, Barnacle Bill's or Shake Shack are in their league. Go for the burgers. Avoid the tornado tower if it's delivery and enjoy. read more

I love this bar! You can tell when you walk in that this is a local "dive" bar (in a very good way) reminiscent of the bars we went to and had a great time at in the 80s. The beer is ice cold! The servers are friendly! They have Quick Draw! They have a jukebox! They have TVs with sports on! They have carry out! With all that being said, I never thought to order food; until I did! Get the burger! It is one of the best I've ever eaten. Right up there with Barnacle Bills in Rumson. It was done perfectly; juicy and delicious. The bacon was crisp (as I requested). The bun was soft and absorbed all the juiciness! The fries were crispy and perfectly salted. If your looking for something else, the Nashville chicken was delicious as were the wings. Their chicken selections are made with the breast meat and were also cooked perfectly. Their food really surprised me because the place looks just like a regular local bar. No frills. But one of my favorite places to go to in Monmouth County. Shout out to Mike, Mark, and Jimmy who kept the ice cold beers coming and did it with a smile and some friendly conversation. read more

But nonetheless really good burger and fries. I got the smash burger, i thought it was a bit pricey but I'm dumbass and didn't read the menu properly online and didn't realize the burger came with fries so I ordered a whole extra basket lol.
