Great atmosphere, but unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired. We asked if one of the TVs could be changed to the Jets preseason game. The bartender--a muscular, gym-bro type who already seemed completely uninterested in serving us--responded, "Nobody cares about that." Really? We're in New Jersey! No matter how much bad luck the Jets have had over the years, they have some of the most loyal fans around. They stick with their team no matter what. But this really isn't about the Jets. When customers are buying drinks and food and make a simple request, responding with "Nobody cares about that" is rude, dismissive, and completely unnecessary. Unfortunately, we've had poor service from this particular bartender every time we've been there. It has often felt like unless you fit a certain look--particularly the cute blondes at the bar--you don't get the same level of attention. But tonight's blatant disrespect was something I couldn't ignore. There are way too many places where I can spend my Friday night and my money to be made to feel like I'm bothering someone by simply asking a question. Probably our last time at JakeaBob's, which is disappointing because the atmosphere itself is great. But good atmosphere doesn't make up for being treated poorly. Nobody cares? Such a lovely summer spot! It is completely outdoors so choose your seating wisely on a hot day. Our original table ended up being directly in the sun and our server had no problem allowing us to move. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. Our food was fresh and delicious. Always loved this place, but have not visited since the latest renovations. Was a great please where you could get a table on a pier over the water and that was perfect. I took my daughter there for her 23rd birthday and she got the Ahi Poké bowl. Fish was in tiny bits and not enough. Also bowl was seriously salty. Too much soy sauce. I got the grilled shrimp wedge. Presentation was awesome but shrimp was cold and they over did the balsamic glaze, too sweet. On a slow Monday afternoon I came with a friend at 4:45 on June 15th. (We come often) we were only acknowledged when first sat down. We place our drinks and app order but that was it. We waited over 45 minutes for an employee to see if we wanted a refill on drinks or if we wanted our main meals. They never asked us but we Watched them great and take care of everyone on the opposite side of the bar and around us. The bartender at service was told not to serve the cherries because they were "disgusting" but my friend and I watched her still put them in a cocktail for a table. The Tuna poke tower was just amazing! I love how the chef fuses in the guacamole versus there being plain avocado and a touch of tortilla chips on the side. I never had it this way before but OMG it works!! I felt like a hog eating lunch that day! On another note great beer selection and drink menu. Awesome views. The bartenders are nice. My friends and I went here to get some apps before checking into our airbnb. We were welcomed by the hostess to sit whenever we would like. We went to the bar area for some people to get drinks and order our apps. Some friends went to get drinks but were rudely approached by bartenders even though we were new to the area and not told otherwise. Only our friends of age went to get a drink from the bar, but we were rudely asked to leave because not everyone had an id that was in that area even though they were not consuming alcoholic beverages. There was unnecessary attitude even though we left instantly without even arguing. The tone of the bartender was unsettling. she was very rude and quick to tell us to get out even though we were welcomed by the hostess. There was no reason for the attitude especially because we were willing to leave the bar area without question. I met up with some friends on a Saturday night in the summer and the place was packed. We were told it would be a 90 min wait for a table of 5. Fortunately, the waiting time was about half of that. While we waited, we hung out around the bar and there wasn't much room to linger. The views of the New York skyline were breathtaking and this place is the perfect setting for a beautiful summer night! I had the calamari and New Jersey lobster rolls. The calamari was tender and tasty. The rolls were small but good. They weren't loaded with mayo and came with chips that were very salty. I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my parents and girlfriend. It was a nice day, and we wanted to eat some food outside by the beach and water. This spot was great. You could really feel the breeze and also enjoy the sun. We all tried different meals for our lunch. I went with the burger and fries, which was a hit. The burger was delicious; very juicy and cooked well. The fries were a nice side companion. I tried some of the grilled chicken wrap and it was pretty good as well. I enjoy a wrap every so often and this place makes them well. The chicken was really tasty. My parents enjoyed their meals as well. Went there last night for dinner with family. Food was great as usual. Saw a parking spot right in front of the place. Did a quick "K" turn and wiggled my way in. For a Saturday night, we got seated immediately. A "Win Win" situation on both parking and seating. Probably will never happen again. Service was awesome, our waitress was constantly stopping by to check on us and get what we needed. Food was cook correctly and was hot. Only complaint was from my eldest son and it was his hot honey chicken wings had plenty of honey but the hot was missing. They were still good though. It's a great place at the beach but changes had occurred since we were last there, 2 years ago. They got rid of the pier so there's no more dining over the water. A large sand dune is now in place which doesn't allow guest to view the water at the lower levels as before. Restaurant is seasonal so once summer is over, they close pretty much right after. There's either music or an activity, or both, every night in the bar area. A place to try and enjoy. read more

First, location... This is the cutest little spot. I was visiting from NY and my SIL brought us here cause I said outdoors on the water. This totally fit the bill. Views were beautiful, and fans and umbrellas provided a comfortable eating experience. The drinks were strong and flavorful. Had I not been driving, trust me more damage would have happened there. The food was great. So good in fact we dug in before thinking about pictures. The crab cakes were delicious. I got the crab and shrimp combo and it was so much better and more filling than I expected! While I did not stick my fingers in anyone else's food, everyone at our table loved what they got and the waitress was so helpful at setting us up and serving us with a great attitude. read more

Great Tiki bar vibe with really good food. Music has been the draw for us and the food is the bonus. Completely outdoors literally on the water with views of NY in the distance. If you get a table over the water there is a small fan and an umbrella by each table, a definite plus on a hot day. Start with a specialty drink or one of the many beers offered on draft, can or bottle. Crab cake sandwich is great and taste very fresh. Think they are grilled not fried. The house made chips are a great addition, a hard choice because the fries are really good too. The rack of ribs in a blueberry bbq sauce sounds strange but is a must try. Set beautifully on the Raritan Bay, this outdoor bar/restaurant is a fun spot to come any time of the day. With rows of tables and blue umbrellas on a pier that juts out in to the water and a covered bar area this place gives you a warm, tropical feeling. Came here with family for lunch on a Friday and the place was pretty packed and I can see why. After ordering some drinks we ordered a couple of apps to start, the 1999 Wings tossed in a house made honey & hot sauce glaze and the Buffalo Shrimp. Both of these apps were good and didn't disappoint. The sauce on the wings was unique and had good flavor while the same could be said for the 6 decent sized shrimp. For our mains we had the JakeaBob Burger with bacon, lettuce tomato and crispy fried onions and also the NJ Lobster Rolls, served with house made potato chips. The burgers were very tasty and the lobster rolls, although I like them better Connecticut Style with just butter and lemon, were good but different. Not a lot of mayo which was good but topped with sort of a pickled, corn salsa which I wasn't too crazy about. Again, good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Overall, I'd definitely recommend coming here. The service is good, the food is good, if not great, there's a nice drink menu and the atmosphere and views can't be beat. read more

The drink menu here is extremely impressive - they really made it impossible to choose. Great deals on beer buckets as well. I stopped in with a big group for lunch. We started with the nachos and wings. The wings were some of the crispiest and sauciest I've ever had and the nachos were amazing too. I got a wedge salad as my entree which comes with a skewer of shrimp that was packed with flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. This is an awesome spot for a summer lunch or drink. Always excited when they open for the season! I was able to make it out for my first rum bucket if the summer. Local summer is always a nice time to visit. It's wonderful to eat on the water and everything always comes out so quickly. The shrimp and clams are a must. We got the buffalo shrimp and really enjoyed it. The nights are fun with live music and I love to catch golden hour here. Definitely a wonderful spot to visit and have locally. read more

I went to Jakeabobs Bay again yesterday for the first time since the pandemic. This place opens only for the summer and closes this Monday Labor Day. It is unfortunate that they are only allowed to operate until Labor Day because this place is truly a gem. They have a really nice Tiki bar and a sit down outdoor restaurant on a pier. It is all outdoors so they are at the mercy of the weather too. However every time I have been there I have had a great time and a good meal. Cold beer and their food items are really good. If you can't get there this weekend then be sure to visit next season. read more

I visited Jakeabob's Bay for the first time for a sweet lunch date with a good friend for a catch up session. The greeting was warm & friendly from the reception ladies , as well as our server. Stopped by for the first time on a Saturday evening. The wait was about 45min to an hour for a table for two. After waiting we were given a nice table for two on the water. It got pretty chilly but we were able to purchase a sweatshirt for $35 to be more comfortable. Being it was so busy and they had just recently reopened for the season service was a little spotty. We ordered our drinks, an appetizer, and burgers but our appetizer arrived before the drinks... the server stopped by to see how our buffalo wings were and we let her know they were good but we were missing our drinks. She apologized and quickly brought them to the table. I overheard employees saying the kitchen was backed up and it's understandable since the kitchen is a small trailer outside on the patio. The wings were pretty good just a little too saucy. We both had the Jakeabob 1/2 lb burger cooked medium rare. It's served with American cheeee, bacon, onion strings, lettuce, tomato, and pickles served with a side of crispy fries for $12 The burgers were big and juicy and we both enjoyed them. We really enjoyed this restaurant... primarily for the wonderful setting on the water. It really was lovely. They had a lively bar area and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Welp used to love it here. Was there the night before the 4th of july, the town does their fireworks. We werent told until being there for quite awhile that we would have to leave our table because theyre all reserved for 6:00 reservations. Ok I get it... so we order items to share, ask for side plates. We were literally told WE HAVE NO PLATES AVAILABLE.this is because they were set at empty tables for all the reservations that werent happening for another hour and a half. I am still a payin customer at 430 so to tell me you cant get me a plate this early is unprofessional and moronic. Dropped $240 bucks to be felt like a second rate customer. Great cocktails! Couldn't eat anything because it started POURING and the literal only place with cover from the rain was the bar. Rain is unpredictable of course, but when I'm with my 5&6 year old, we just need a place to stand to not get soaked. To get told we can't stand near the bar, that my kids would have to stand in the rain to be able to stay, is pretty crappy. The police are not coming to ticket you in the pouring rain. Be decent people and make exceptions for exceptional situations. It only rained for a few minutes and we would have stayed and had a great dinner but instead we had to run to the car while it was still pouring and just go home because we were soaked. read more

So we've been to JakeaBob's Bay several times. Each time we've been more and more impressed with the food and the service. Having a meal that close to the shore, with a beautiful breeze is in and of itself wonderful, but the food? It is the best I've ever tasted. I had the jakeabob's burger and it was amazing! My wife had the shrimp wedge salad and that was remarkable as well. Our server Katlin was attentive as well as pleasant and friendly. In short it was a phenomenal experience. If you haven't been there you're missing a great dining experience! Although we'll be back again this summer, I can't wait until next year when the ocean view returns!!!! read more
