ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS: Harborside Grill is an American-style restaurant with a nice covered outdoor patio that allows leashed dogs! A staple in town, they have a big selection of food and drinks and a friendly staff. Take a walk around town and down to the marina when you're done.

By chance we came across Harborside Grill looking for some late lunch / snack after visiting Sandy Hook National Park. It's a welcoming restaurant with a decent menu and good service. The pretzel loafs are really delicious! We had some Rigatoni Bolognese and Buffalo Chicken Wraps, we really enjoyed our stay and will be back whenever we'll make it to this area. A superb decor adds to the experience

Check for 2 adults and 1 child- very reasonable prices.

We came for dinner unexpectedly as we had to recharge our electric car nearby. What a lovely surprise! We just wanted a low key family friendly place for a quick dinner but the food was exceptional and very well priced.

This establishment is exceptionally generous!! From the portions of food, to the wait staff, to management to helping the furloughed employees, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I went because my husband is active duty coast guard and harbor side offered a free meal to government employees. Although my husband is deployed at the moment, they still took in me and my three children with open arms. Our waitress was so kind to my children. She even walked my son to the bathroom so I can eat. . The manager came by to say thanks for our service. The food was delicious. We will be returning as paying customers one day. We promise. We will pay it forward.

    Time for dinner!

We finally had dinner at Harborside Grill after passing this place on various ocassions at the expense of the Wine Bar and Gaslight which are at close proximity. It was a hot summer evening and we decided to sit in their outdoor space which takes the form of a roomy covered porch, cooled by ceiling fans. We chose a table facing and having views to 1st Avenue and parking lot; an excellent choice if it was not for the distraction of having to shoo away flies! The service during our visit was lacking, there were extended period of time between orders without visible serving staff around. The food was also disappointing. I had Chardonnay Steamed Mussels as an appetizer which were quite good, however could not enjoy it to the fullest since no bread was place on table to enjoy the sauce that accompanied them. For my entree, I had the Asian Tuna, a dish that was well presented and tuna cooked to my liking, however it was drowned in sauces and sides that diminished the dish; way too much going on! We passed on dessert and will probably pass on this restaurant next time!

Ordered to-go last week. I got the penne vodka which was pretty good but it wasn't super flavorful. I added blackened chicken, but it was really blackened. We also ordered bread and we got small rolls which weren't exactly fresh. Would order/go again, but I'm not in a rush to do so.

Had to write this review as soon as possible. I LOVED my first experience at Harborside Grill. The ambiance is adorable and the main drag in Atlantic Highlands is great. The inside was both cozy and modern. Our waitress was wonderful and made us feel really welcome. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with arugula and pesto - it was wonderful! The perfect portion and so well cooked. Everyone I was with absolutely loved their meals. Prince was very reasonable also. Wish I lived closer because this would for sure be a regular place for me!

First time here, summertime, weekday w/friends. There is off-street parking. Harborside Grill has had their ups & downs ratings in the past. We sat at the bar and were promptly greeted by a very friendly Katie. After looking through the menus, we noticed two patrons eating a bar pie. Wow, I thought that looks great, so all of us ordered pizza ....not too original but it proved to be a great choice. I had a local brewed IPA, also a good pick. We enjoyed various conversation amongst ourselves which eventually included Katie. Overall it was a pleasant first impression. The Wine Bar is directly above this establishment and is owned by same owner. Also there is alfresco dining. Lots of TVs.

Food is delicious. I would say it's like middle level expensive but not terrible. The place is super comfortable too and has great service.

It was early Sunday night and the bar was full but the dining area wasn't so we stayed in the bar. Service was excellent, the bartender came around and made sure we were comfortable, handed us menus and brought water. She told us the specials and shortly after our server came by. I was a bit disappointed at the lack of seafood on the menu. My picky girlfriend would have enjoyed some flounder or scallops but they only had a seared salmon and blacked shrimp. The Mrs. Got a burger and it was adequate, nothing to write home about. I got the chicken parm and it was ample and terrific. The tomato sauce was stellar! Sadly I wanted the scallops with risotto. This place has potential, the service is great, the atmosphere is fantastic, plus I know the chef has the chops from visiting his last place, the red store in Navasink. We'll be back but I'll be sure to check for seafood offerings before I go.

We ordered the fish tacos, birria tacos, and kettle-style potato chips--and every plate came out looking as good as it tasted. The fish tacos were beautifully assembled, piled high with crisp, fresh slaw that added the perfect crunch to the tender, flaky fish underneath. Light, clean, and balanced. The birria tacos were the star of the table. Rich, deeply seasoned meat tucked into perfectly griddled shells, served with a savory dipping broth that takes each bite to another level. Messy in the best way possible--and completely worth it. Even the kettle-style potato chips stood out. Thick-cut, golden, and topped with just the right amount of flavor to make them more than just a side--they held their own next to the tacos. The overall experience ties everything together: polished yet relaxed atmosphere, attentive service, and dishes that clearly have intention behind them. It's the kind of place where you can tell care is put into both the food and the experience. Atlantic House isn't just a good meal--it's a spot you'll want to come back to, and one I'd recommend without hesitation.

It always looked like such a cool place, and I had been really interested in checking it out. I finally made it there the other day, after a brief afternoon at a local beach. When we arrived around 6:30 pm on that Friday evening, we could see that the back deck was very full and that the parking lot was also close to capacity. We were able to, thankfully, grab a spot and walked over to the restaurant, climbing the stairs to the second floor where we met the hostess. We were told that the wait for outdoor seating was 40-minutes, while indoors was 30-minutes. Glancing around, the inside dining room was casual and nautically-themed. The tables and bar were bustling. The balcony was just as busy, but offered live music, so we determined that it would be worth waiting the additional time and added our name to the list. In the meantime, we decided to hang by the outdoor bar but were unable find a spot. Thankfully, a duo was vacating one of the few high-top tables in the bar section, which were first-come, first-serve. We grabbed that table and settled in to watch the beautiful sunset over the boats docked in the harbor. The staff and the few patrons we encountered during our visit were all very friendly, which only emphasized the laidback vibe of the waterside venue. The food, however, was mediocre at best. When our dinner was delivered, we did not receive any silverware, so we had to grab that from the bar, which was also from where we had placed our order. I had requested the Pan-Seared Salmon, which was well-cooked and served with thin stalks of asparagus, dry jasmine rice, and a huge amount of buttery garlic herb sauce. It made sense that the fish was served in a bowl, because there was so much greasy butter that it would have leaked all over if it was on a flat plate. Thankfully, the bartender had given me a few side plates, so I was able to move my food out of the oily bowl. My friend also had some issues with her meal. Her cup of New England Clam Chowder was flavorful, but watery and mostly broth. Her Fried Flounder Sandwich was heavily breaded and served with an unripe tomato and mushy, oily fries. From a beverage perspective, they had surprisingly interesting cocktails, but I was thrilled to see my favorite beer, Kane Head High, on tap. We simply loved the view, live acoustic tunes from P.D. Brody, and the overall relaxing atmosphere. However, we felt that the food could have been better executed. The menu offered all kinds of seafood and higher-end bar food, but the preparation left something to be desired.
