We also had the best server at the restaurant "Blake" everything about our dinner was that of a Michelin Star. Outstanding restaurant with excellent service. Was able to celebrate my wife's birthday at the bar. Which is in the main room and more festive. The manager had come to offer my wife and I champagne. A wonderful gesture and much appreciated. We started with the bread service. My wife ordered the chicken paillard and I ordered the the pork chop. Both were excellent. We ended with the raspberry tart which was exceptional. This was the 2nd year in a row we celebrated my wife birthday here. I finally made it to River Pointe! Nothing short of great. Food, service, ambiance. A real triple threat. Matthew and staff were on top of their game. Very attentive & helpful with suggestions. Absolutely incredible spot, you need to try this place if you haven't already! They have great martini deal at the bar as well. Service was knowledgeable, friendly and gave great recommendations when it came to drink pairings. Came here for an anniversary dinner and started off with oysters (best I've had) and the beets. I got the Champignon Gratiné and it was so fluffy, light and flavorful (you would think with all the cream/ butter it would be heavier). Dessert was delicious. Been here a couple of times for dinner, first on a Saturday then mid week. FOOD: Very good both times (though the Tuna Tartare a bit watery the second time). Drinks are good but very overpriced (even the mocktail was $18!). SERVICE: Staff very professional across the board but some came across as snotty. Our waiter tossed our check on the table the second time we came without saying a word though we were friendly and had no issues, not sure what that was about. ATMOSPHERE: Really love the decor - kudos to whoever designed. Very classy coastal. Main issue is the deafening volume. Thought would be better mid-week but just as bad. I have excellent hearing and still struggled to hear some people - a friend whose hearing is not great could hardly hear anyone. Back room was not as overwhelming but still very loud. We started with an Old Fashioned and a Metropolitan. For apps we ordered the tuna tartar with little pieces of orange and homemade crackers. Super delicious, fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and great taste. We also ordered the bread servuce, and strawberry and burrata salad. For dinner, we ordered the steak and frites and the black bass over fingerline potatoes. We ordered a side of peas, bacon, and onions. Everything was just delicious. Portions were perfect. To end the evening, we shared a brownie sundae with brown butter ice cream. You could taste the nutty flavor of the brown butter. Great combination together. Starting with the good, Ambiance and decor was good, service was ok even tho was Monday night and restaurant was party empty. charging $9 for bread and butter, that should be a hint, Menu very hard to understand and server did not know how to explain plates either. Vast options of drinks but food not so much, extremely pricey for what they offer, ordered 2 different plates and food was just meh, again very pricey and below average quality. Cocktails were good, so maybe for drinks is a nice place. Definitely will not go back as there's a lot of better options close by. read more

We love River Point Inn and return again and again for the fabulous menu, decor and exemplary service! We always start with the bread service and radishes, (such a nice touch) and the best jumbo shrimp cocktail, beautifully presented! Then we couldn't wait to have the fish and chips special, as delicious as we anticipated! The cocktails, the seiection of deserts, all perfect. The bartenders are so friendly, kind & attentive and their martini menu is chef's kiss! For dinner we enjoyed the tuna tartare with citrus (omfg delicious), escargot which were perfect and so plump, steak frites & the lasagna. I never ever order lasagna out but did because of the reviews and we both agreed -- that dish took the cake! Absolute #1. River Pointe Inn is a fabulous restaurant in Rumson. The service is excellent with highly knowledgeable and attentive staff. The bread service is 9 dollars for 2 baguettes. I enjoyed the spinach salad as I thought each ingredient paired well together. The dressing with the bacon, goat cheese, spinach and the apple really made for a nice blend of sweet and salty. The mashed potatoes weee delicious with a nice crust on the top with a buttery flavor. The burger was good with tasty fries but I feel like I played the safe option for dinner. I will be back and I'll have to try something that isn't a hamburger. Nonetheless, I would recommend this place. read more

Last night we went out to celebrate my wife's birthday. Usually, when I note a birthday on a reservation, it tends to get overlooked but not this time. From the moment we walked in and gave our name, we were greeted with a warm "Happy Birthday" and genuine interest in whose birthday we were celebrating. The service was exceptional from start to finish from the hostess, to our server, to the sommelier. The food was fantastic, but what truly stood out was the level of service. We decided to try this one next as a treat to celebrate both of our birthdays. I knew this one was a bit more pricey but expected more decadence or a more upscale feel. We ended up underwhelmed, disappointed and hungry. Also not sure why this restaurant is classified as French. Our $35 lasagna was a small hunk of cheese. Her $21 drink was watery. Our waitress was very nice and the bar area looks very nice. If I ever returned I'd go to the bar for a $14 martini. It was $21 because we sat at a table. We opted not to go for a $21 dessert. I've dined here over a dozen times this year and have found it not only to be consistent, but also innovative Superb we'll trained staff, great ambiance and spectacular cocktails all come together to support the absolutely delicious food selections Most recently, the sensational team of Ian and Caitlin provided us with a perfect meal situated in the new outdoor garden, which I must say was thoughtfully designed to be as visually appealing as well as functional We had our standard cocktail ( the salt air) what a drink! The gem salad .. so crisp and fresh as well as the tuna tartare which I found to be a no BS tartare. It's not disguised by over flavoring, not cut with avacado just simply hand cut sup quality tuna presented on ice. Perfectly fresh and light The Friday special of bouillabaisse is absolutely second to none! I've had this dish in numerous restaurants yet this one stole my heart. Served piping hot . I went in a Friday afternoon when a friend was visiting from NYC. We came to listen to one of my favorite Jazz singers. We sat at the bar for lunch and drinks. We started with drinks at the bar, where we learned more about the restaurant from the bartender. Then, we transitioned to our table, and that's when we really began to appreciate everything. Wonderful last minute lunch at River Pointe Inn last Saturday. This place never disappoints. I love the warm inviting interior which is only matched by their service. I usually go for their burger but was encouraged by our server to try the chicken salad sandwich which was generous and delicious. We finished with the creme brulee (which had that perfect satisfying crackling top) and the decadent chocolate cake (which looked imposing and yet we devoured it in its entirety). Excellent from start to finish. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the River Pointe Inn. Ambiance inside was amazing, and there is also a small and super cute outdoor area. We were promptly seated and welcomed with a happy anniversary card and a complimentary champagne toast! Our waitress was attentive, knowledgeable and amazing the entire night - she never missed a beat or need. She even educated me on the fact that there are 2 ways to make a French martini :) We enjoyed the berries & cream appetizer and bread service. Our entrees came out at the perfect time - not right on top of the appetizer. Steak Frites and Beef Bourguignon were delicious and cooked to perfection. We ended the night with the cheesecake, and the staff surprised us with a candle for our anniversary. This is the first time in a long time that I've been truly "wowed" when dining out. Almost every restaurant now in Monmouth county is a copy of one another: burrata, ribeye, spicy rigatoni - rinse and repeat. River Pointe Inn is perfection - and I don't use that word lightly. The craft cocktail menu is truly unique (best martini I've ever had), and the food menu is perfectly balanced. Each and every item we tried was better than the next, and I love how they're getting all their oysters local in NJ. The only thing that surpassed the cocktails and the food was the service. For some reason we hadn't yet been to the River Pointe Inn until last night. It was worth the wait and we will not wait to go back. From entry to exit the entire experience was wonderful. We enjoyed the French onion soup and Chèvre appetizer and had the Moules Frites and Steak Frites for our mains, both of which were cooked and presented to perfection. The crème Brûlée was absolutely one of the best I've ever had. Our server was Lauren, and she was on top of everything and attentive with a great sense of humor. After a week of sub-20 degree weather the atmosphere was just what we needed. Warm and cozy. I know it can seem pricey, but with this level of service and quality it's worth it. I went to River Pointe Inn with a few girl friends for dinner and we all had such a pleasant experience! Two of us got cocktails (delicious) and two shared a bottle of wine. The sommelier came over to our table to tell us about the bottle, exchange some funny stories, and share some of his extensive knowledge of wine with us.
