Penne Vodka and Steak and Eggs

Did not expect how good their food was going to be. We got their Penne Vodka and Steak and Eggs and everything came out perfectly. I forgot how they named their cheescake but it was like a combination of a cheescake and a creme brulee and it was amazing. A burnt melting cheesecake in your mouth is something else. Jesus, our server, was amazing. Knows what he does. Does everything in a very efficient way. Atmosphere was nice. Perfect set up for a brunch. If you can't think about a place to eat around the area, this can be one of them!

Group of 4 on a Sunday in early November. Made a reservation the morning of--though it might not have been necessary. To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to how busy it got as it didn't get loud enough to disrupt our conversation (which is a huge plus). The inside is so cute! They dimmed the lights when they brought out a sparkler birthday treat which made it feel very special. They have a great menu with lots of options from sweet to savory and an exquisite drink menu. (Be mindful this restaurant is BYOB. My party wasn't drinking so the extensive coffee flavors and lemonades were a huge hit.) My husband ordered the steak and eggs and said it was great. I had the pancake taco trio (three pancakes with strawberries, bananas, Nutella drizzle, and whipped topping) which was delicious!! Our friends also ordered the steak and eggs and the strawberry pancakes. Everyone loved their food! Although I'm not much of a coffee drinker, I had to try the s'mores iced coffee--and it tasted as delightful as it looked! If you're looking for a picture perfect brunch with great tasting food, this is the place!

I was in the area and decided to have lunch here. The restaurant is big and nicely decorated. Our server was friendly and checked in often. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich. I really enjoyed the flavors and was happy with my choice. My husband had the Mimi's pulled chicken sandwiches, he enjoyed his meal. I would return again.

I was staying at a local hotel and their restaurant was closed for breakfast. We decided to get Uber Eats and decided on this restaurant. To start with our breakfast had a long hair in it which was disgusting. The toast was burnt to a crisp, the bacon was burnt to a crisp and stuck together. My daughter got the big breakfast with 2 eggs over easy (there was no option for Sunny Side Up). They ended up sending her 4 eggs, I guess just including the ones that ended up being completely cooked through and were wrong? We ordered a mac and cheese which was terrible, pretty much just pasta with cheese melted on top, to add insult to injury they only offered a large mac and cheese and you had to select extra large for an additional $6 because there was no other option. The Belgium waffles could only be ordered without powdered sugar or without whipped cream. I requested without powdered sugar, because my daughter loves whipped cream, it came with neither. The waffles were very plain and undercooked. I sent a message regarding this to Uber Eats, but was only reimbursed for the Waffles. We wasted almost $130 on the worst breakfast I've ever had. I don't understand how a breakfast place could ruin breakfast so bad. I can't believe someone noticed how blackened the toast was and didn't think to throw it out and toast it correctly.

That sweet boy Ryan left me very satisfied after my meal! Premium service, and an even better ambiance. Proud of this place.

I've been to Elli's Backyard quite a few times now, and every single visit has been amazing. I always try something new alongside my go-to -- the Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap -- because it's absolutely DIVINE. The Caesar dressing is incredibly fresh (I haven't asked, but I swear it has to be homemade!). Here's what we tried this time: Corn Nuggets - 9/10 Exactly what you'd want from a corn nugget! Fried to perfection with a soft, flavorful inside. The maple syrup on the side added a really nice sweet-savory balance. Penne Vodka - 8/10 One of the better penne vodka dishes I've had in a while. The flavor was spot on! I would have loved just a bit more sauce, but overall, delicious. Onion Rings - 10/10 PERFECTION. The batter was crispy, and the onion wasn't too thick or chewy like some places. These are easily the best I've had and are now going into my regular order. Mango Lemonade - Super refreshing and not overly sweet. A great drink to pair with any meal. The server we had was a very nice younger man and he was extremely attentive as well. The decor was beautiful and they recently must have put up their halloween / fall decor which was also very nice.

Went on Valentines night. First time there. Food portions and taste is outstanding! Will definitely go back!

I ordered breakfast and the food was great! I was eyeing the dishes around me and they all looked amazing. They give a good amount of food...almost too much to consume in one setting. The ambience & customer service was good. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

We were looking to get away from the crowds at the shore for dinner and Elli's Backyard was the perfect choice. Very friendly staff, timely service, and great food. Very clean. Appetizer: The Firecracker Cauliflower lived up to our high expectations with just the right amount of heat to not overpower. Main Course: The wife had the Pulled Chicken Sandwich, which was a nice variation of teh pulled pork sandwich. The French Fries were on point. I had the Wok Seared Salmon. Nice sized portion and very tasty. Dessert: The Bread Pudding was spectacular and a very large portion. Highly recommend getting this if it is available (it was a special the day we were there). Overall: What's not to like? Great service, great food and nice setting. No doubt we will be back.

Iced coffee flight and big breakfast.

Attentive Service who know the menu and ingredients as well as the drink specials and beers. The wine list is well rounded and concentrated to a carefully selected list. The beer offerings however are limited and they only offered one IPA Craft option. Could use more attention here. Servers could have a little more enthusiasm as some of ours were a bit sedate. Dinners were a tad delayed coming out, but nothing horrible. The Menu was assembled well and had some interesting options for starters which we did not partake in; the Raw Bar oysters are very fresh and cleaned well. Our salad we shared was good and could have been shared by 3-4 people as it was plentiful and $23, which was on par for most of the starter menu. The Strip Steak is prepared with a minimalist approach allowing the natural flavor of the beef to shine. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and with a beautiful aged nuttiness. A simple Rosemary sprig on top and you have a delicious meal. The Crispy Halibut was another dish that was well worth it. Delicately cooked fish in a beautiful sauce accompanied by some Bok Choy and Mushroom sauté. Impressive. Ending with Dessert, the S'mores Skillet rounded everything out. Overall easily could be 5 stars but subtle things subtracted just enough to land at a 4. Nonetheless; highly recommended!

We chose Nicholas Barrel & Roost based on the menu and an almost 4 star rating on Yelp with over…read more500 reviews. The halibut caught my eye immediately; I'm a sucker for a perfectly prepared piece of halibut or a great pork chop, and since my partner doesn't eat meat it made for an easy share. Earlier in the day, a couple of women at our hotel bar mentioned the chef had trained at Jean-Georges in Manhattan, which only added to our anticipation. It wasn't until we got back to the hotel after dinner and did a little reading that we learned just how decorated Harary really is; his Restaurant Nicholas held Zagat's top spot in New Jersey for 15 consecutive years and earned a 4-star New York Times review. That context made our middling meal sting just a little more. We started with the bread service and the beet salad. The bread itself was baked beautifully, but the butter and ricotta accompanying it were completely flavorless. My partner and I are not salt-at-the-table people; we trust that seasoning happened in the kitchen. This was the first time in recent memory that we actually reached for the salt shaker. Not a great sign. The beet salad should have been a showstopper. Beets, when done right, can carry an entire dish on their own. Instead, they were buried under an avalanche of arugula. Don't get me wrong, arugula is one of my favorite greens; that peppery bite and beautiful texture are hard to beat, but here it was doing all the heavy lifting while the beets sat underneath doing nothing. We'd eaten most of the salad before we even noticed the sunflower seeds and a smear of mascarpone hiding on the bottom of the bowl. That mascarpone, gently flaked on top with the seeds scattered over it to catch in the folds, could have made this dish genuinely memorable. The gorgeous candy-striped radishes were a lovely visual touch, but they were raw, undressed slices with no seasoning, no acid, no pickling. Beautiful to look at; an afterthought to eat. The whole salad felt that way, honestly. For our main, we shared the Panko Crusted Halibut with bok choy and smoked shallot velouté. The sauce was the star; the smoke level was dialed in perfectly, present in all the right ways without overpowering everything else. The wild mushrooms were lovely, but the dish needed something to break up the texture. The bok choy brought good flavor, but it mirrored the mushrooms so closely that each bite started to blur together. Something crispy, something sharp, would have elevated the whole thing considerably. The fish itself was cooked well; firm, flakey, and not dried out. The panko crust was gorgeous to look at but could have been crispier. Based on its beautiful golden color, it looked like it had more crunch than it actually delivered. The cocktails were a genuine highlight. An old fashioned made with 1792 and a Black Manhattan, both well-crafted and the clearest bright spots of the evening. The three people behind the bar were another highlight. Expedient, attentive, never rushing anyone, and willing to make easy conversation without being intrusive. That is exactly what you want from people working a good bar. The ambiance, though, was confusing. The space seemed to pull in two directions at once; it wanted to feel upscale but also like a sports bar, and it never fully committed to either. Three small TVs tucked into the corners would have been fine. The oversized screen mounted prominently on the wall was intrusive and clashed hard with any sense of elevated dining. The music was classic rock, which I enjoy, but it read as wrong for the room and was a tad too loud. The music for this type of setting should be something to just add some ambiance, not for people to shout-sing too like you've had too many beers at a dive karaoke bar, which I love by the way, this was just not that kind of place. Those same women from the hotel bar had also warned us it could get loud and obnoxious in there. We figured we'd take our chances. We probably should have listened. With the legacy behind this place, the potential is clearly there. The bar staff gets it. Now the kitchen and the room just need to catch up.

Sometimes you just need a cold beer and a bite, and Triumph delivered on both fronts. The space itself sets the tone nicely. Raw wood beams, big glass garage door-style windows flooding the room with light, and a mix of modern and rustic that somehow manages to feel like both at once. Green plants are positioned throughout, around the bar and seating areas, adding just the right amount of warmth throughout. The space is generous too; a large bar anchors the room with plenty of big tables spread throughout. It could clearly handle a crowd. It's the kind of place that makes you want to settle in. The service matched the vibe. Our bartender was attentive from the start, and at one point a second bartender passing by stopped to check if we needed to place an order. When we told him we were already taken care of, he smiled and moved on. Small moment, but it says something about the culture of a place. I started with the Baltic Porter, a solid pint, dark and roasty with that smoothness the style calls for. Good, but it was the second beer that really got my attention. I noticed the bartender working a hand pump and knew right then I'd be having their Pub Ale next. That's the real deal right there; a true cask pour is a rarity, and this one showed why it's worth seeking out. The ale was alive in a way you just don't get from a CO2 tap, soft carbonation with layers of flavor that opened up as it warmed slightly in the glass. It was genuinely awesome. For food we kept it light, a couple of snacks to set ourselves up for the rest of the evening. My partner had the falafel; fresh, nicely seasoned, with real crunch and plenty of accoutrements to keep things interesting. It was exactly the kind of bite that tides you over without weighing you down. I went with a special: Weisswurst. It was juicy and flavorful; served on a nice bun with mustard and the expected trimmings. My only gripe was the portion size, could've used just a bit more sausage. The real surprise was the side of housemade chips, which were exceptional. The kind of thing you find yourself reaching for long after you've finished everything else. Unfortunately, we arrived just as a band was packing up, but according to the schedule posted on the wall, they have live music quite a few days a week. All in all Triumph was the perfect setup for our little mid-winter getaway.

Second time that I visit Triumph Brewery. The first time was mostly drinks and last night was for…read moredinner and drinks and to listen to live music. The place is really pretty and has two floors and a really nice vibe. The music was really great. It was this kind of sexy lounging jazzy type of music. The trumpet player was really good. The band's name was Red123 and I am a fan. We sat and ordered food at the bar and our bartender was great. The other two guys were equally as nice and personable. Now the negative. Although it's considered a brewery, they do not have flights. So keep this in mind when you do visit. I ended up have the Czech dark beer, which was good. It was a large amount as well. My friend had one of the Pilsners and it was pretty good as well. The food for me wasn't that great. I ordered baked oysters with breadcrumbs and bacon on top and it was to be shared with my friend. Unfortunately, the oysters were not cooked thoroughly because they were still kind of slimy and soft and not hot and they did not taste baked. I was OK with it because I do eat raw oysters, but she does not eat raw fish so she didn't have any. I also ordered a Cubano sandwich listed as containing braised pulled pork, Swiss cheese and ham with Bavarian mustard with thinly sliced pickles on the side. I ate half sandwich and it tasted ok. However, for the second half of the sandwich, I decided that I just wanted to eat the insides and not eat the bread. Unfortunately, the pulled pork that was in the sandwich was tasteless and very dry. I do cook roast pork as well as pulled so I know what it's supposed to taste like. I did not notice it at first because the dressing on the bread masked the bland taste of the pork. I did not continue to eat the pork and only ate a piece of the ham and the cheese. I do plan to go back for the vibe and music and if hungry, will try a different dish.
