Been here a few times and I always walk out very satisfied when I'm finished. I would recommend the pot of clams - the clams are big and the broth and bread can turn this into a full meal. I got the lobster roll on special on my last trip. I'm always a little let down by lobster rolls as they typically are small and leave me wanting more. Came here after a 9 mile MTB trail ride at Hartshorne Woods Park. The yelp reviews looked good, and we were able to make reservations on Open Table. When we got there, as I walked in, I was filled with amazement. The decor of this place was great. Exposed brick walls, cool furniture. We were seated upstairs. Seems we entered this town during the off season (03012025). My buddy ordered this steak dish for the table. Small pieces of steak with a crispy onion topping. Stopped by Atlantic House while in the area and it was a nice experience. On a nice summers day the second floor seating with the windows opened out is quite refreshing and a vibe. The menu seems solid American. For apps we got the fried cheese curds and it was great! The breading was just right and not too much. You can't really mess up cheese curds. The chipotle sauce is a good combo to pair it with. For mains we got the crab cake sandwich which I thought was tasty but it broke apart too easily. If the texture was more firm it would be easier to eat. Nevertheless a good meal. We also got the fried buffalo chicken wrap which we thought was better of the two. Both mains came with a side of salad and this is where it went from a good meal to ok. The salad was drenched in salad dressing, it was like the whole bottle was used. I recommend you ask for dressing on the side. The service was slow. It was practically a one man team. And the food came out longer than expected despite the limited numbers of guests. We led with Aurelia's salad which was shareable and fresh- candied pecans and raisin's added to the appeal. My orange honey glazed salmon was very good, over a brown rice, red quinoa accompaniment. Atlantic House is such a great little spot along First Ave in Atlantic Highlands! The interior is cute with a nautical themed that feels very modern and upscale. A good friend and I went here a few weeks ago for a girls night dinner. It was such a cozy spot with great service and good food. I was amazed by the pear martini. I had two !! We finally had the chance to visit this restaurant on Friday night (off season). Parked right on the street with no issues. We did make a reservation, even though not mandatory, we were glad we did because it was a little busy, not crowded and we sat at a standard table, not a tabletop. The tabletops were in the middle of the floor (on both 1st & 2nd floor) and we preferred the standard table. When you enter on the 1st floor, there is a bar with seating around the room and a few tabletops. We were led upstairs where there was another small bar and standard tables and tabletops. I will note that the tables and chairs for the standard tables were that kind of metal Warehouse feel. It does have a nice open feel with all the windows (which were closed due to being in October). When the hostess sat us, it took about 5-6 minutes for someone to greet us and it was a man (Sorry don't remember his name and on the check was the name Emily) and he asked us if anybody got to us yet and we told him no and he said I'll take care of you. Which he did!.... there was another waitress who attended to a few other tables directly next to us who didn't even acknowledge us for the entire stay we were there, which I thought was a little unprofessional, but it didn't affect our experience. He was very attentive and we were very happy with his service! We started with the coconut shrimp, which was crunchy, delicious and the Thai chili sauce gave an nice kick. I ordered the burger and fries and my husband ordered the double smashburger. Both burgers were absolutely delicious! Very nice thickness and they melted in your mouth with the brioche bun. They both came with fries. Off of a special menu, I ordered the PB& J Skrewball old fashioned- which I ended up having two of them because it was so smooth and delicious made by our server!!! My husband ordered the Peanut Butter Cup martini and he had two of them and he said they were strong and delicious, also made by our server. I came here in winter on a Friday night around 8:00pm with a reservation and they had a full house. The ambiance is rustic and modern, with low lighting. Our server was knowledgeable and was able to recommend drinks and items off their menu for us since it was our first visit. Now for the food. Okay so I felt the dishes We tried were a tad bit heavy on the salt. Our appetizer was "pot of clams" and the broth was salty and spicy, the clams were fresh so that helped. Next, the main courses; we had the "Grilled Bone-in Chop". The description made us think of 'comfort food' since it served with turnip mashed potatoes, spiced Apple chutney so we gave it a try. The Chutney was okay, but the mashed potatoes could have had a hint of cheese to contrast with the pork chop and apple flavors. We ordered the warm brownie for dessert and it was average. This was a very pleasant end to the week. The Millennial Chum and I ended up here for a quasi-dinner last Friday night, at her recommendation. I've passed through Atlantic Highlands before (I think mostly en route to Sandy Hook), but this was my first time in the downtown area. We found street parking about a block or two away pretty quickly, and were immediately seated near the door upon entering despite not having a reservation (to be fair, it was more high-top, informal seating in the bar area, which tends to fill up after the interior dining area does, but still). Huge points in their favor - as we were being seated, the hostess gave us directions to the bathroom. That is literally the first time I've encountered that, and it's a great idea. I don't know why other places don't implement that immediately so you don't have customers awkwardly wandering around looking for it, momentarily distracting other staff for assistance. I wasn't too hungry, having accidentally eaten some heavy Mexican food earlier in the day, so we opted for nothing but apps - cheese curds, thai chili chicken wings and brussels sprouts. I concentrated almost exclusively on the curds, though i sampled one or two wings and thought they were fine (I'm not a huge wing person so don't rely too heavily on me in that regard - love eating meat off ribs, hate eating meat off wings). The curds were very good. I don't know that I've sampled a ton of them and honestly most were probably consumed at a Chili's, but like almost any bar app, it usually comes down to how heavy they are on the frying. These were fried perfectly, not overdone, and weren't greasy as a result. The Millennial Chum was perfectly content on the other side of the table, munching happily on the brussels. I've learned through time and experience that she can be pretty high maintenance when it comes to that particular appetizer, so if she's signing off on them, that's a solid endorsement. It seemed important to sample a naughty beverage to usher in the weekend, and I went with the strawberry mule. Delicious, and I ended up having a second one. Perfect mix of flavor with the zest of ginger beer. I really don't understand why mules aren't always flavored, but they can be dangerous. These were definitely on the boozier side, but thankfully I wasn't the one driving for a while. Also in a full circle moment? Despite basically toddling to the bathroom, I located it immediately with no assistance because we'd been given those directions. I really can't get over that and don't want to. We both really liked our waiter, who was very nice and attentive. I don't recall any service issues or long wait times for anything (though I find time can be a relative concept once you've consumed at least one strong cocktail). He kind of reminded me of Jamie from the Progressive commercials. And despite it being Friday evening down the shore with a solid crowd in there, the acoustics were excellent in the sense that we never had an issue hearing each other, etc. Very solid experience, and at the very least I'm coming back for a strawberry mule reunion. read more

My girlfriend and I were invited by her folks to join them, that they had had such a good time, they wanted to go again. They had gone the night before. They didn't even wait 24 hours to return. That's how good it is. We shared nachos that I ate which was unusual for me. They were sensational. We also had the steak bites. A+. After growing up in Atlantic Highlands, this is the best restaurant addition in 27 years! It has the best spicy marg in town (and in Monmouth county in my opinion). We have been here twice now and have tried shishito peppers, the house kettle chips (which have bleu cheese fondue), the fish tacos and the (shocker - gluten free!) brownie - and NONE disappoint. I cannot wait to come back and try the steak bites as well as the fish of the day. I've been visiting family in Atlantic Highlands since I was a kid and there has never been anything like Atlantic House. It's a cute, modern, open air restaurant and bar that was an necessary addition to Atlantic Highlands. I have been here twice now, first coming with my aunt and cousin the first time and then again with my cousin and her friends the second time. Both times I ordered the mango jalapeño rita which was a spicy & sweet margarita concoction with a mango puree. We have tried several food items including the battered cod fish tacos, shishito peppers, house kettle chips with blue cheese fondue, as well as the gluten free brownie. Everything was delicious. I really want to come back and try the burger next time. Both times we sat in the upstairs sections. The first visit, we were on the upstairs balcony. It was a beautiful summer evening so it was a great spot to enjoy drinks and appetizers with a view of the quaint 1st Ave of Atlantic Highlands. The next visit was more crowded but an equally nice evening so we grabbed spots at the upstairs bar. Since it was so nice out, the doors and windows to the upstairs and balcony were all opened which made for a nice breezy atmosphere. There are lots of TVs upstairs as well which would make it perfect for watching a game. There are a number of weekly specials as well. Happy Hour is Tuesday-Friday from 4pm-7pm and includes $2 off all draft beers, $4 well drinks, and $5 wines. Tuesday's special of course is Taco Tuesdays with half off all tacos & $5 margaritas. Wednesday you can get a burger and 16oz draft beer for $15. Thursday offers half price cheese and $5 house wine. And during Sunday brunch, they have $3 Miller Lite & Yuengling on draft, $4 mimosas & $5 Bloody Mary's. Now those are brunch drink prices that I can get behind. Just a note that they're closed Mondays. I especially love the style of the restaurant. It's a modern, beauty look and nothing I've ever seen before in Atlantic Highlands. Came into this beautiful restaurant over the July 4th weekend. Saw this place being built months prior and was excited to see what they would be offering. The restaurant is beautiful, tasteful with modern accents and trendy flare. The upstairs has an open deck, but I didn't get a chance to go up there. The place was busy but we were able to get a 4-top relatively quick. I do wish the tables were a bit bigger because we ordered a spread and didn't have any room to spare. The service was good, though we waited a bit for our drinks. Our appetizers showed up before our drinks. The food is excellent, the steak bites were delicious and juicy, my party wanted more onions but I thought it was fine. The wings were something else, smokey and crisp and the blue cheese was creamy too. The kettle chips were some of the best, would have liked them more tossed in the sauce as the top had it all. The pretzel sticks were good and that mustard was superb. So creamy and tangy. But 4 sticks? C'mon. The scotch egg was good, I wanted more seasoning on the sausage and a bigger egg. Everything is the right size so you don't fill up before the entree. Moving on to entrees, the majority of the group ordered burgers as the other selections weren't too appealing to us. The burgers looked juicy and were well seasoned, cooked to their requested temp and the fries were crispy and airy. We ordered one beyond meat burger and yes, it tastes like beef. Incredible. I ordered the Coq Au Vin and I have to say I was a bit let down. I expected some more punchy flavors. The wine reduction didn't really come out and chicken needed more seasoning. The skin wasn't crispy either. Overall, it's worth stopping in for the variety of the menu as they pull from various cuisines. The drinks and apps were the stars here.
