We met my nephew and his family on a visit to my home state, New Jersey. The food was good. Of course I had pork roll and cheese on a good old hard roll. They were short staffed and a bit in the weeds. It was Labor Day and many of their summer help had returned to school. Food - was decent. I had a cheeseburger. The bun was twice the size of the burger. It wasn't seasoned. It wasn't handmade. It was in the obvious shape of a frozen patty. I'd definitely get something else IF I dared to venture in here again. Service - good, nothing over the top. The view is what earned this place the stars. I decided to go to the bathroom before we left. I wish I hadn't. It was ABSOLUTELY VILE. V. I. L. E. Someone had left the seat up...and there you could witness the remnants of someone blowout. Absolutely disgusting. No paper towels. I've literally used gas station bathrooms that were cleaner than this place. Of all things you can't keep the bathroom clean? What a cute breakfast spot in Atlantic Highlands. My friend and I stopped in before our Henry Hudson hike and sat outside overlooking the marina. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She immediately brought us two coffees and we placed our order. The coffee was steaming hot just the way I like it. lol You really can't beat this place for the view and prices. I had the two egg breakfast and it was delicious and very affordable. My friend had the Bacon egg and cheese sandwich which she enjoyed very much. Everything was fresh and prepared perfectly. I was a big Sissy's fan, but I have lost some of my enthusiasm for it and probably won't be back until they open the outdoor seating again. Twice now we've been eating our lunch there when a worker has begun mopping the floor so all we could smell was the cleaning fluids. Nothing out of the ordinary like a spill, etc was happening - they apparently just decided that washing the floor with strong smelling detergent in a small restaurant full of diners was a good idea. That should be done before and after the day' s dining schedule. It definitely interfered with enjoying our food, which is generally good unfancy standard breakfast and lunch fare. Once we can sit outside we'll probably be back but they really should consider a change in how they do their cleaning. read more

Very pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this place is. Tucked away not far from the ferry. An eatery with a view of the water. We were a family of 14 with last minute plans and called to see if they can help us get a table for breakfast. Yes they could accommodate us on this beautiful Sunday. Table was set and ready waiting for us and we had a fabulous view of the water. The service was great with our large gang. The food was fresh and delicious. We ordered breakfast and lunch dishes. You can be a healthy eater here or have fun and say calories don't count on Sunday. Either way your meal will be great. My go to beverage is always unsweetened ice tea, which they served in large mason jars. Definitely worth the trip to the harbor. It was such a nice day eating outside. Yesterday morning (9/10/22) my husband and I were biking south from Aberdeen on the Henry Hudson bike trail. Our intention was to eat breakfast in Sea Bright. We made a restroom stop at the Atlantic Highlands Marina and saw this restaurant (Sissy's) there that was open and served served breakfast. I was famished, and my husband didn't realize that Sea Bright was another 30 min away. So I said let's just eat at Sissy's since it was already 11am and we didn't have anything more than a piece of fruit before driving out to the trail head in Aberdeen. We're not locals, so that was a disadvantage because we didn't realize that there's really only one proper way to enter the establishment. We entered through the patio side, and had to walk past a very crowded and bustling lunch counter. The servers were running to and fro between the kitchen and the outdoor dining area under the roof, and it was difficult to know who was in charge of seating. There were a lot of empty tables inside, but then there were other people that were just getting up and paying and leaving. I managed to catch one server's attention, and she told me the line began at the front door. Again, my husband and I did not realize this because we were parking our bikes at the side railing next to the dock. As I went toward the front door, I saw a notebook on the table with names written down and I figured that was the tracking book for seating. No hostess was there, so I wrote my name down (my husband was still outside locking up our bikes). Then one of the servers saw me doing this and shouted "I'll do that!" and I told her I already wrote down my name. Then a woman and her 2 young adult daughters walked in from the front door and was wondering who to sign in with. I told her there was a book on the table, so she too wrote her name down. Just after that, a young lady who appeared to work there came over and asked who was first. I told her I was next, and then she proceeded to tell me that it was going to be another 20 minutes wait time. I was not wanting to wait that long, so I asked if I could sit at the counter (which was completely empty) and she said it would be the same amount of time. She explained that they were shorthanded and only had 4 servers working. I was so disgusted and disappointed I just decided to leave. I went outside and told my husband the deal, and he said what about talking to the manager? I asked him how much further away Sea Bright was, and that's when he told me it was another 30 min. So I decided to give talking to the manager a shot. When I went inside, I encountered one of the servers that I talked to earlier, and she again explained how short handed they were and that she was already waiting on several tables. I asked to speak with the manager, and she reluctantly went and got Sissy (who was in the kitchen). I told Sissy my story, and while I was telling her what happened, that server mentioned that they tell everyone 20 min wait time (but it could be sooner) because they don't want to get "yelled at". She said some people will come in and just hang out after eating. I was kind of shocked at the yelling part and I don't have control over how long it takes for tables to be turned , but Sissy assured me that we would be waited on right away and she seated me at a table across from the counter. Two coffees were served immediately, menus given to us, and 2 really delicious breakfasts were on the table in front of us in less than 5 minutes! Sissy did not return to our table again, but I want her to know that I greatly appreciated her willingness to accommodate, and to keep in mind that you never know who might walk into your restaurant for a meal. It could be an editor from Food and Wine Magazine, or any NYC chef or celebrity. Yelling at your servers, if that's even true, not really a good policy. Just as you published (in several places) that cash is king for paying customers, you may want to consider putting a sign up that gently reminds customers that you want them to enjoy their meals, but afterwards they need to go outside and walk off that meal and enjoy the view outdoors so you can bring more customers in. read more

The locals tell me that this is a go to breakfast and lunch place more than a dinner one. The action starts very early in the morning when the "Sea Streak", a commuter ferry, goes to and from Highlands to New York City every day. I assume the trip takes about 45 minutes one way. So it's the commuters who pack this place prior to boarding the ferry. We were down at the docks and decided to have a quick bite to eat but it was neither breakfast nor lunch. That's OK we had dinner there. We weren't that hungry. I ordered a burger, medium, w/bacon & mushrooms on bleu cheese. Fries accompanied the burger. Curly fries would have been extra. B ordered a cheeseburger w/the works. Erin was our server. Very nice waitress. The interior was nicely decorated as marine deco. My burger was cooked well-done. Oh well, I ate it anyway. read more

We recently moved to the area right before the pandemic. Wanted to check out a nice breakfast place for Father's Day. We found this place on yelp and decided to pop in. They have a large outdoor eating area with views of the Marina and water. The staff was friendly and efficient. There was a little bit of the wait due to Father's Day and outdoor seating only but we still only waited about 15 min. I had the western omelette and substituted fruit for the home fries. The food was great and price was on point. They are cash only but have an atm inside. This place will now be our go to breakfast joint. Can't wait to come back and try their lunch menu. read more
