For the past two summers, I had seen loads of pictures for The Seafarer Bar and all of its marina-side glory. Well, I was finally able to check it out recently with a friend, and we both immediately fell in love with the place. The bar was at the end of a long parking lot and offered several different areas. There was a tented space with picnic tables, a sand-covered lagoon with couches and firepits, a pier with loads of dining tables, a small space for their frequent live music, a giant bar, and many other lounge chairs scattered about. The bar offered a variety of beers, wines, cocktails, and even mocktails. My Aperol Spritz was robust and well-balanced. We also ordered food from Cuts & Catch, which was a food truck and grill near the entrance to the bar. Their menu supposedly changes often, but they focus on both surf and turf items. When we arrived around 7:30 pm on a Saturday evening, a majority of the menu was already sold out. In some ways, that helped ease the selection process, but it also meant that a few of the things that had appealed to us (chicken kebabs, for instance) were no longer an option. We each ended up getting an order of the Fried Fish Tacos and shared a Shrimp Cocktail. The tacos were served in portions of three. The small corn tortillas were wrapped around large pieces of crispy, flaky fish tenders and a cabbage slaw. We both thought they looked basic, but they tasted phenomenal! The raw bar dish included five jumbo shrimp with a side of cocktail sauce. The shellfish were plumb and very fresh. We were still a bit hungry after these items, especially since we had spent the day at the beach, so we also shared an order of fries for the ride home; the thin, crisp fries were perfectly salted and simply delicious. The live music and views of the sunsetting over the marina made for a lovely atmosphere, and the excellent food and drinks made the experience that much better. We cannot wait to return! read more

Been here plenty of times, all different times, all different days, all different situations..most of the times I've brought my kids and was with friends who had there kids as well and have had a great time , always one of my favorite places to go and have brought plenty of people here for the first time and always recommend it. went over this past weekend and am so turned off by the way we were treated, we got there around 2pm and it was fairly empty I was with my husband 2 other couples and a total of 6 six kids (2 of which are under 1 year old) then a 5 year old, 3 year olds and a 2 year old. we were made to feel so uncomfortable and out of place that we left after an hour and half when we all planned to stay for well over that. We got there and were maybe one of 4 parties, we were using a picnic table and some chairs having drinks, our kids were playing with sand toys in between us and everytime someone moved from the chair this man would come and take the chair away (started out with 2 tables & 8 chairs, then he ended up Moving a hole table and 4 chairs away) we didn't mind we just moved to the teepee and the picnic table, the security guard came over and asked us to keep the kids sand toys under the teepee said the "owner said so" , if you've been here you know that the teepee is not roomy enough for kids to play with sand toys but we just said ok, moved all the toys & went about our day, we ended up moving all our stuff and just using the teepee A little while later my 11 months old small dinosaur toy (a squishy bath toy) was outside of the teepee and this man walked over and moved it and said you need to keep the toys out of the walk way.... It was in the sand not in the walk way , I said ok no problem sorry about that and went about our day, music started playing and it got more crowded, with an older crowd, so we understood the chair and the toy situation a little more (which they could of just said , we have a band playing and expecting a lot of people and we woulda understood) so the kids were into the music and wanted to see it and went under the tent and they were dancing and watching the band, for a good amount of time, I would 100% not complain if any of the kids were being annoying (understandably I know kids can be assholes lmao) the security guard came over and said "the owner said no kids under the tent" It's usually a VERY kid friendly place and I've never been made to feel so uncomfortable, we were with a good amount of people and definitely woulda got a lot of drinks and food at some point, our kids weren't being annoying they were playing by us and watching the band. I hate how mad this made me because I usually love this place so much, I even had to ask the bartender if it was new owners because I've never experienced this before and it makes me not want to go back which sucks read more

Seafarer is quickly becoming one of my favorite places at the shore. Its a wide open space with beautiful views, and plenty of seating options. From couches in the sand to tables on the deck to Adirondack chairs around a fire pit to tables under an enclosure, there's never a problem finding a place to relax. The venue is huge so it never feels crowded. There's always live music with no cover charge. Drink selection is limited but I never have a problem finding something I like. For food they have Cuts and Catch on premises which serves up delicious and unique surf and turf options like grilled oysters with wagyu, and soft shell crab tacos. Seafarer is the type of place that's made for summer time fun and relaxation. Kid and dog friendly as well. read more

It's a great atmosphere with a fun vibe. If you like food trucks then it's fine for dining, but I prefer to just go for a cocktail or two. The service is hit or miss. Depends on who is behind the bar. But it's a fun place. read more

Perfect spot to sip on a drink with your toes in the sand. Beautiful view and a great vibe. We kept my toddler entertained with the ping pong table and we got to listen to an awesome band. Drinks are a little pricey, but considering there is no cover charge for live music, we were happy to enjoy a few beverages. Will definitely be back to finish off another beach day! read more

Such a fun sandbar for the summer months. They always have something on the calendar and golden hour is gorgeous here.

The Highlands is a highly (all puns intended) underrated portion of the Garden State. Summer is the obvious vibe, but there's something about early autumn that just hit different. On an unrelated note, the foodtruck by the bar was insanely good. Super friendly service to boot. read more

We had a great happy hour at the Seafarer Bar. This has to be one of my favorite chill spots in the Highlands. You can't beat the view, vibes and bbq from the Local Smoke food truck. The air is beautiful coming off the bay. The weather is devine this autumn day, the beer is local, and the food is from local smoke bbq. What's new here, is a tent that has 8-10 well-spaced tables. Lovely, lovely spot. We were there for a gorgeous Friday night happy hour. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Limited drink menu, but we're not fancy. PBRs, IPA and an aperol spritz did the trick. So many seating options. Food truck snacks were delicious. The smoked bacon poppers were the best, get 2 orders. Prices for drinks and food reasonable for the shore. Loved that the crowd was mixed couples, families, kids, pups! Great music and a perfect sunset made for a pretty awesome night. read more

Used to love this place. Recommended it to all my friends. Had the unfortunate experience of coming here on a Tuesday afternoon? When they apparently have a Baby Time or something? I went in the late afternoon to relax with a drink and some cool music and instead it was like being plopped in the middle of a song-a-long at Mommy and Me. An all-outdoor bar with a tropical and colorful setup, dogs are allowed in the Skipper's dog patio. The patio is covered by a tent and includes the craft beer bar. You can also order at the main bar for cocktails and the food truck for a meal, but dogs must stay on the patio, so take a friend with you to help at the bar. The doggie area has picnic tables and a cozy lounge area with Mexican blankets and our bartender brought Brie a bowl of water. My husband and I eloped and had a party at the Seafarer to celebrate with our loved ones and it was truly magical! Local Smoke BBQ was phenomenal and everyone raved about the food. Communication with Local Smoke was equally as great! With the venue, Harrison was there for me every step of the way and I feel like I miss him now that planning is done, lol. What a cool spot! Now, we went on a random Thursday with 2 kids so it was hardly busy, but I definitely want to come back when they have live music. The view can't be beat, fire pits, hammocks, benches, plenty of space and just a fun overall vibe. They have one food truck which we didn't try, maybe add another? I love the selection of local beers and even a solid light beer (Shiner Light). The bartender was incredibly friendly and we felt welcome right away. For right now I can't say a whole lot because my 16 month old threw a tantrum and we left, but what a cool, chill spot that I can't wait to come back and give it a go in the evening. My favorite place to come over the summer, I get a cocktail, a pulled pork sandwich and feel like I'm on vacation 15 minutes from home. Excellent gathering spot. Little pricey, but hands down the best fish tacos in highlands, and I've eaten them everywhere. Beer choices are veritable, often from local breweries, or microbrews from around the country, which is hard to find in this little clam town. The view is spectacular and the ambiance matches. Bring your dog to the dog friendly area of the restaurant or come with friends and huddle around the fireplace and watch the kite surfers as the sun sets. If you plan on going here make sure you call wayyy ahead of time to ensure they're open. Called around 6:00 p.m. on a Sunday to see if they had any slots open, no answer. I checked their website and it said that they were open, so I took a chance anyway and drove about an hour with family to try it out after hearing some good reviews. Their hours are marked as being open from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Got there about 7:00 p.m. and the place was closed. There was no sign nor social media postings about an early closure. I understand that things pop up, but most businesses that care about clientele at least advise their customers of an early closure. read more

Went last year several times and always had a nice time. Wonderful location on the water in the Highlands. Recently went back this year. The atmosphere is still great. Prices on drinks have gone up. A draft beer from the beer truck, in a medium plastic cup was $9.00. And the beer was flat! I think they were having problems with air in the lines. The food truck chef needs big time help! There were only 3 items on the menu, and it read: hamburger, chicken and pig. thats it. and when we ordered chicken he said it was a 2 hour wait . . . seriously. A hamburger with no sides, chips or french fries is $15.00. When questioning the chef we got major tude as well. Great location but they need to get their act together, especially the food truck. If your listening, know what you are; you're a food truck, not fine dining. read more
