Love this place, the turkey burgers and fries are so good. I tried chicken Caesar wrap this time and it was good, nothing outstanding. It's a burger shop so go for the burger(beef or turner). They also make a nice milkshake. The vibe is a cool diner style, great for eating there or take out. The staff is friendly, they forgot a part of my order, and offered me free delivery or pickup coupon. 2 burgers, chicken finger, chicken Caesar wrap, and 2 fries came to $52. Was able to feed 4 of us. read more

What a fun little burger joint! The staff are super polite and friendly, the restaurant has a fun old fashioned diner feel and is decorated with a life-sized Marilyn Monroe and Elvis, and there are a couple arcade games as well. I got the Swiss mushroom burger and waffle fries and they were delicious! Once you order just have a seat and they'll bring it to your table. The burger was nice and hot and delicious! The mushrooms are fresh...not canned, and they waffle fries are well seasoned and crispy. Overall super solid, if you're in the area you should definitely pop in. read more

Very Disappointed. We were so hungry when we stopped in and were looking to eat a good big burger with fries. Unfortunately, it was not as tasty and flavorful as we expected. We paid $29 for a cheeseburger, a bacon blue burger, one order of sweet potato fries, and one drink. Many of their drinks were out, and the diet coke was way to syrupy. The burgers were not seasoned at all and lacked taste. The buns were NOT freshly baked buns (as they claimed), but instead hard and stale. The sweet potato fries were good, but they gave very little in the order. Paying $5.50 for fries should've given us more. I love to support local businesses, but am having great trouble supporting this. read more

Good burger joint... 30 different burgers on the daily menu. Apparently this place has had many reincarnations over the years. Inside looks like a old time diner maybe. Stopped in for a lunchtime takeout. But they do have several tables/booths & a few high tops scattered about. For her a bacon cheeseburger. And I chose the #5. That's called a Trenton burger. Grilled pork roll, with melted American cheese & ketchup on a baked deli roll. We opted to split a side order of those disco fries. Yum. :) No waiter service here. Just place your order at the counter and they give you one of those buzzers. Food came out pretty quick. It was still warm when I got home. Sometimes you just have that craving. If you do, check this place out. read more

We just moved to the area and couldn't wait to try this place, and we are really glad that we did. The food is fantastic and they really nailed the 50s-60s burger joint vibe. My wife and I both had the Trenton Burger with fries and both raved about how good it was. Very fresh, quality burgers. The black and white shake was also very very good. We will definitely be new regulars and can't wait to try some of their other options like their wraps and cheesesteaks. read more

Really just wish I had consistency from this place. A week ago Friday I ordered burger and fries and it was perfection. Decided to order today and it was the opposite. Besides the fries being crispy the burger was just a sloppy mess. The bun was soggy from way too much sauce, I asked for sautéed onions last week they were caramelized and delicious today they were cut super thick and were raw basically I even got the outer skin that I bit into that they didn't bother to take off the onion which totally threw me off. I went on our local Aberdeen group to shout this place out and now I'm sitting here regretting it honestly . Why can't they just have the same standards each and every time they send out an order. Just disappointed today read more

Under new management and it's fantastic. We came for the burgers and wound up loving that and much more. The onion rings (def w the dipping sauce) are great and the Cajun fries are great! The bacon royal burger was good, but the cheesesteak was amazing. Last but not least, the funnel cake fries for dessert were out of this world! And..of course the shakes. Great service and great food. Will definitely be going back again (and again)! read more

Great service the people behind the counter were very kind and helpful. The food came out fresh and great. The atmosphere was very nice.

Been here numerous times in the past, but this was my first return since the pandemic. I placed a large order for my group of 5 to pick-up and it was done right on time within 15-20 minutes. We got a variety of burgers, fries, and of course large milkshakes. Everything turned out well. My only complaint is that for the price, you don't get that many fries at all. If you're looking for a place with a large selection of burgers/fries and generous sized milkshakes, then this is your spot. read more

The Burger Shop and More - a variety of food items on a table - Burgers Near Me - Matawan, New Jersey

Best spot for burgers in central Jersey. They have a wide variety of burger styles and flavors, including vegetarian options. Entering the burger shop is like time traveling to the 1950s. The interior design is a marvel. Elvis, Johnny Cash, Marilyn Monroe, etc.. The owner took care to evoke nostalgia for a simpler time. Add to that place is impeccably clean, and the staff is friendly. read more

Have come to The Burger Shop on multiple occasions and I feel this is a decent place to stop at! My first time walking in I was greeted by great staff who were happily helping with our decisions for lunch. Taking a look around i also will say it had a great vibe inside seeming like an old burger joint. I had a plain cheese burger nothing on it just cheese, lettuce, ketchup, I wanted to get the real taste for the patty and to my surprise i felt it was actually a bland patty not too much flavor but a good char and well cooked burger. Being disappointed I can back to try there hot dogs this time and it's a whole different story, the hot dogs had a crisp snap to them with fresh bread and a flavorful chili and cheese i couldn't get enough! I 100% recommend there chili cheese dog as i will be coming back for that often, decent prices as well definitely worth a try! read more

I recently visited the burger shop and was treated to one of the best milkshakes I've ever had and a fantastic teriyaki chicken burger. The onion rings were also amazing. My friend and I came to get a quick meal before going to work out and it. Was. Phenomenal!! 15/10 we got a burger and a Oreo shake, burger was juicy and flavorful! The shake was thick and creamy and so good! They were very sweet and kind! Absolutely great service. I believe a guy named Andrew helped us! And the place was clean and the ambiance is very dinner, the atmosphere was nice and light. read more

lovely experience, great customer service by Andrew. Delicious burger and milk shake.

I can be very hard to please when dining out. I'm often disappointed. Therefore, I was not prepared at all for the religious experience I had when I bit into the first onion ring. It was the best onion ring I've ever had. I asked them to fry them a little darker than usual and they obliged me. I had a BBQ burger and it was perfect, I have no notes. It was juicy, the bbq sauce was tangy and went very well with the fried onion strings, bacon, and cheddar. Then there was the strawberry milkshake I saved for the end of my meal. It was wonderful. I was super pleased. I hope they can live up to the expectations for next time, because there will definitely be a next time. read more

My husband and I absolutely love this place! We have been ordering from here since we got married 5 years ago and they have been consistently solid. Being that we have been regularly ordering I can say wholeheartedly every burger is great. The only one I don't like is the pot roast burger. That's just my opinion. Outside of that everything from the shakes to the chili fries are fantastic. Order your go to burger and you will be happy and maybe take a nap cause they are huge. read more

So delicious. Second time I've eaten from this restaurant and both times I've loved it, and everyone I was with. Onion rings are good and come with a chipotle kind of sauce. Burgers are pretty big, and toppings are so good. The menu is awesome, i love all the toppings on the different burgers they also have veggie options, chicken, fish and milkshakes. I had the veggie one this time and it was packed with flavor. Multigrain Bun on mine was very good and they use different buns depending on the burger (which I like!). I picked up our order and the women behind the counter were very friendly and took every single thing out of the bag and double checked the order The only negative I could say is that although the jersey fries are delicious, they don't come with many. Def need to order more next time! read more

Delicious! Have re-visisted a few times in the last months. I have been getting the #1 with grilled onions, with a side of cheese fries. Good service, good food. Rating a 4 because it is sort of pricey for a local burger shop, I feel the sandwich's should at least come with regular fries or offer some sort of "meal deal". Sauces are good and home made. Also they used to have amazing potato buns for their burgers, but now it seems to be some hard bread that isn't good. Please bring back the potato buns!! read more

This is a cute little place with the right burger vibe. Everyone working there was super nice. The food on the menu are not exactly healthy conscious. So if you are looking to save on calories then this is the wrong place (though they have one salad to cater to that type of crowd). Prices are super reasonable. The prices for the burger are worth exactly how much they are. They have a huge variety between hot dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken, wraps and all types of fries. I got the basic cheeseburger (it came with L/T/Sautéed onion/mayo/pickles). I took my pickles off. You can just taste how fresh the ingredients are. The fries were not the "fake/frozen" type. Everything was super yummy. I wanted to try the funnel fries but didn't have any room... NEXT time! This is definitely one of those places you'll crave wanting to go back for !! read more

Burgers tasted decent and the place itself gave me a retro vibes. Would recommend the burgers for sure.

This was our second time ordering from here and the first time was my sandwich was pretty good. I got the pot roast burger the first time and it was very tasty. My husband wasn't a huge fan of his first burger. He said it was dry and over cooked. We tried it again today and I got just a regular cheeseburger. It was so well done it was crispy lol. My husbands burger was the same though the chili saved it a little bit he said. The funnel cake fries are sooo yummy! But that's it. I wouldn't get another burger from here again but I would totally get those funnel cake fries again. If you're looking for a burger place, skip this one. read more

It's okay. It's nearby. It was open. It was fresh but undercooked meat. You're not gonna get an earth shattering meal here. It's fresh, clean food but awfully greasy and I really was disappointed that my patty was undercooked. I'm not sure I'll go again but if you come here you'll get a pretty standard burger. I can't really muster up much more of a review. It's just average. read more

So far, so good. I've only been here once but I had a good time and enjoyed my burger. They have a very expansive menu of burger options and they also serve a variety of other boardwalk/snack bar foods. I didn't get to try them but they have funnel cake Fries. Definitely on my next visit! The burger was hearty and stacked well. I opted for a traditional BBQ Bacon combo. It was what I expected and hoped for. The fries were OK. Tasty but I eat fries like a madman and the thick cut fries didn't do it as well for me. I quickly found myself pacing to preserve the fries. I know, I'm a beast. The atmosphere was one of my favorite parts. It gave off a 1950's drive thru-diner-fast food type of feel. Similar to a Johnny Rockets but with their own unique way of presentation. See pics. Overall, it's a local place for what I believe has good burgers across the board. There are so so so many different choices I'll have to be brave and venture out of my comfort zone next time! read more

The burger shop always dependable to leave me quite full and decently satisfied! I have been to the burger shop about 4 times now and I have tried about two of their sandwiches and both times they were quite filling but not he best burger I've ever had. I want to blame this on myself because both burgers came with a lot of toppings! Such as peppers, onions, chipotle sauce and the regular lettuce be tomatoes and cheese but this typically causes my bread to get to soggy and I become uninterested! I believe this place is great but i would definitely go back and try something different maybe the classic burger this time to taste how the actually party taste and not just all the toppings this time ! They also offer a plethora of fries and those are deeelicous!!! I love their waffle fries, their disco fries (which are fries loaded with cheese and gravy) and their loaded bacon and cheese fries! They also have tater tots and seasoned fries a believe! This place is always busy so calling ahead is advised! They do have milkshakes which I didn't have myself but my cousin did attest that they were pretty good overall the place is cool! You definitely get that 60s dinner vibe when your there as well as great service because the owner/ manager is extremely attentive !! read more
