Mexitacos has officially become one of my favorite local spots. After an outstanding first and second visit, I came back again, and they proved the experiences aren't a fluke. I've had the steak fajitas, grilled shrimp, Quesadilla and beef tacos over my visits, and everything has been consistently fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. The steak fajitas are still the standout and remain some of the best I've ever had--perfectly seasoned, tender, and served sizzling with all the traditional accompaniments. The service has been exceptional on our visits. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely seems to care that you enjoy your meal. The restaurant itself is clean, welcoming, and has a fun atmosphere that makes you want to stay a while. Consistency is what separates a good restaurant from a great one, and Mexitacos delivered another five-star experience. Great Place!! Stopped here for lunch as I met the owner at a food show. The staff is very friendly. I placed my order and waited inside. I took a few pictures as I was very intrigued on how beautiful it was . Got my food and ate in right in my car!! Could not wait ! Great presentation ! Came upon this place by Yelp reviews. This restaurant is located in a strip mall so there is plenty of parking. Walked in and got seated quickly, decor is of a typical Mexican restaurant. husband and I started with mixed nachos oh so good! I had the mixed fajitas and my husband had the Snapper Veracruzano. New Jersey is a treasure trove for good and cheap Mexican food. We discovered this restaurant thanks to the trusty yelp app when nearby Deninos had an hour wait. They accommodated our party of 6 easily on a Friday evening. Next time this restaurant will be our go to from the start. Mexitacos has delicious steak dishes including the ribeye my son had as well as the combination ny steak with chicken enchiladas platter I enjoyed. Both were priced very reasonably in the mid $20's. A couple of friends enjoyed the mixed fajita and it looked and smelled delicious. A must try next time for us. Mexitacos features byob, friendly service and a nice environment as well. This was my first time visiting this place. The food was decent overall. I ordered a steak burrito--while the meat was flavorful, it had very few beans, and the tortilla was a bit too thick, which made it hard to really enjoy the filling. The staff were very friendly, my waitress was very attentive and kind! & the restaurant looked beautiful. However, the food was not good. I ordered a carne asada chimichanga which tasted very...frozen like? The beans did not taste fresh, it tasted like it came straight from a can and had no seasoning. The rice was also flavorless and reminded me of minute made rice. The beef did not have a preferable taste. We were served salsa and chips as well which I would give a 1/10. The salsa tasted like straight marinara sauce. Not sure if they had run out that night but we were served marinara sauce instead of salsa. The chips were not good either. I'm not sure if they were made fresh but the texture and taste wasn't very good, maybe a bit undercooked. As for the plantains, they came out hot which was nice but it didn't have that soft texture throughout the bites I was hoping for. Very glad I gave this place another chance. The first time we were there, only about 10 tables were occupied, but it still took 20 minutes for our food to come out. This time I went earlier in the day and my order was out within five minutes. The seatbacks or the chairs are beautiful. I like that there were free refills on the drinks. I like that very thin, nacho chips and salsa were served almost immediately as well as the drinks. They were spicy and sweet, and very crunchy. I would recommend these wings to anyone who is a wing fan! As for the shrimp tacos and enchilada, they were both very mediocre. The shrimp taco was lacking flavor, and the enchilada did not have enough cheese. As well, the steak was over cooked and a bit chewy. They have outdoor seating, but it is very small, and you are basically in a parking lot. People love Mexitacos because it's always busy wether it's take out or dine in. They are very generous with their protein in each dish. I don't find it to be authentic Mexican, but more Americanized Mexican. I wish they had a dish with mole sauce on the menu as I love a good mole sauce. Some dishes come with a weird cheese sauce on top, and I'd skip those dishes or replace it with their delicious green sauce. My favorite dishes I had thus far are the steak enchiladas and the steak chimichanga both topped with green sauce. The green sauce here is DELICIOUS! I also had the mixed fajitas platter. The meat had a lot flavor in the fajitas. I just wish it came with more sour cream and Pico de gallo. The only dish I didn't like here was the chicken burrito. It tasted more like an American sandwich wrap. It didn't have much flavor, and it wasn't even properly wrapped. I asked for it to be topped with Chipotle sauce, and they gave it to me on the side. The Chipotle sauce was good, but it had more flavor at other Mexican places. Maybe that was an off day. The rice and beans here are really good. The salsa they serve with the chips is horrible! With the word "taco" in their name, you would expect their tacos to be the highlight of their menu. However, I was a bit disappointed. I got a Shrimp taco, Blackened Tuna taco, and Mahi Mahi taco. I wanted juicy, flavorful, seafood tacos, but what I got were bland, conservatively portioned, little tacos. They did not taste fresh, the fish was overcooked, and there was not enough meat. I would not recommend the seafood here, but I tried my girlfriend's Skirt Steak Chimichanga and it was good. The guacamole was okay. It could have used a bit more seasoning. We also shared a Horchata, which we both enjoyed. The chips and salsa were free, but I just had to note that it tasted like they took a can of tomato sauce and seasoned it... but it was free. The service was at least good and the space was clean and vibrant. The decor is a bit gimmicky, but fun. As long as you don't get seafood, this place is okay, but my food was not good read more

I found the refried beans a bit too watery for my liking, although the flavor was spot on. I am so impressed with Mexitacos! I've only had their food for takeout but wow is it delicious and the portions are generous. I get the vegetable fajitas and the assortment of veggies is so great. It comes with white rice & black beans but I substitute red rice & pinto beans because pinto is THE bean. The cheese on top is bangin'. The grilled asparagus side is also a must-have.
