I called and spoke with a very helpful and patient person on their team that helped me with the perfect platter and additional donut order for my event of about 50. I was already on cloud 9 that we had this additional sweet treat added to the night when I got a call from the owner who asked what kind of event they would be for and if we would like our company logo added to them - a perfect bonus! Stopped in with my wife to try this place for the first time. Looked around, smelled good, had potential. Unfortunately, the person behind the counter (owner? manager? hard to tell) was deep in a personal conversation. I stood there waiting, trying to be patient. After about thirty seconds, he looked over and said, "I'll be right with you." Fair enough, except he went right back to chatting, laughing, and completely ignoring the customers standing there. My wife sat down while I kept waiting, watching the same scene play out. Wow, these donuts were great. The mini donuts looked good too, but I didn't try any. I liked that the ones that are traditionally "stuffed" are cut in half and the filling added. They have lots of different donut bases, so its not just the same donut over and over with a different frosting or topping. Everything was super tasty, and lasted a few days longer than I expected before getting stale. The owner making the donuts was super friendly, and the girl explaining how the system worked was also very nice. They have a few tables to eat right there, but not many. A dozen donuts didn't take long to wait for at all. Parking is street only, but I got a spot right out front. Overall, just fantastic. read more

Let me tell you what a beautiful display of mini donuts I got from Main Street Dinuts in Matawan! I love this place and the owner is wonderful. I ordered the tray and it was everything and more than expected. When my Pickleball ladies saw it at our dinner they all oohed and aahed and then dove in. Everyone got to pick a favorite. Full disclosure, I am not a fan of fried food, thus donuts are not my go to. As a side note, I felt terrible to learn about the attacks from a Holmdel man aimed at the store as I fully support everyone. I wish the store well and long term success. I was gifted some donuts the other day. For me, they are way too sweet and I can immediately feel the oil, which means they are too oily. I can appreciate the effort that goes into them. Are two stars a fair assessment ? probably not as I really don't have anything to compare to as I never order donuts say from Dunkin. If I think back to Entenmanns (sp?) donuts, they were very good, not oily at all. I give two stars because I at least want people to read my review. Main Street donuts was a very nice experience for my girlfriend and I. We saw it advertised on a placemat at a diner and decided to give it a try. The place is small inside but there is some seating and they have all of the donuts laid out and had no problems answering our questions about what certain donuts contained. We had the maple bacon donut, the eclair, the apple fritter, the cheese danish donut, payday donut, and the samoa donut. They were all amazing and fresh as they make it right in front of you and my personal favorite was the maple bacon. They have so many options it is hard to choose because they all look so good. I would say the overall experience was great. The owner was very nice and friendly. Product was displayed well my only complaint was pricing. I'm still unsure how much everything cost but I personally paid 10$ for 3 donuts. As for the donuts; Not greasy and in my opinion perfectly sized. 2/3 flavors were great. 1) Samoas were balanced. Not to sweet and every flavor came through. 2) Coconut Cream Pie was sliced in half to hold filling (sandwich style) and whip topping, toasted coconut, and glaze was drizzled on top. Aesthetically, beautiful but slightly messy. 3) Black and White was unfortunately BAD ... the chocolate was harder but pliable like you would expect with a traditional black and white cookie. First time visiting this shop, and I must say I am quite impressed. My girlfriend was talking about how much she and her family loved their donuts but I always keep my expectations reasonable as to not be disappointed or overhyped. Parking was very easy as you can either choose the large lot behind the building or on the main street in front. When walking in, you grab a small clipboard from the wall. On it, there's a sheet that has all their donut types listed and a blank line for you to write your quantity. And handily there is a display with all their available donut types! Once you're finished you bring it up to the register where you hand them the sheet and pay. The owner was working that day and he was very kind, he gave us his name and told us some funny stories while making our donuts in front of us. He even gave us an extra donut from order he had messed up earlier free of charge! In total we paid about $30 The donuts were very delicious, we waited to eat the donuts until we got home. I popped my apple fritter in the microwave for about 15-30 seconds and I cannot stress how good it was warm. Will absolutely be visiting again when I'm next in town! read more

It was a miracle to start off that I was able to park in front of the store - yeah - that was about all the excitement and good news that I would get...... After a very confusing line of people ordering and what the menu is........waited 27 mins for 6 donuts wow.......they would be fresh and hot for that long - right? Nope - they were cold and very dense cake-like donuts. Not for me - no idea why you would open in such an awkward spot with such a big double store front to serve cold donuts - don't get it at all.......I could probably get a box from Duck in Middletown and they would still be hot by the time I drove to your location in Matawan. There are bakeries within a mile of you with 100% better donuts. I am giving 2 stars due to the friendly staff and for the apology of the wait / you have been open for months though - grace period is over! read more

Went on day2 and most people were sympathetic while waiting for their order though there were a few grumpy ones who weren't so patient...their loss as far as I'm concerned. The dozen we ordered were all incredibly good. The payday and pumpkin donuts were our favorites, though I'd re-order any of the ones that we got. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with the Donuts. We are big on Duck Donuts but also like to support local businesses and Main Street Donuts is also closer to our home so we decided to give them a try. Most of the reviews were positive so we were hopeful. Duck Donuts isn't exactly cheap either so I did fully expect to pay somewhere around $30 for a custom dozen. I'm OK with paying that once in a while if the Donuts truly are fresh and delicious and beyond a normal frosted donut. That wasn't the case with Main Street though. While they do have a decent selection of custom donuts to choose from, the pictures on the website and even their display donuts look way different than what we recieved. The donuts looked way smaller, not fresh (cold even) and some barely had any toppings. The pudding tasted weird that was in the Blackout Donut and some of the other fillings, like jelly and mouse, did not taste fresh. I also agree with others that the prices arent really posted where you can see them and ordering is a bit confusing unless they explain it to you. It wasn't busy at the time we went in but we still waited about 15-20 mins so I can imagine how long it takes with many in the store ordering at one time. Unfortunately I spent $37 on a dozen donuts that we were not impressed with at all. I was really hoping to like this place and show my support but to spend that much I will definitely have to go back to Duck Donuts where their donuts always taste fresh and hot, they are bigger, and are loaded with toppings. Not trying to knock a local business at all. Just giving my true and honest opinion as most do rely on ratings and reviews.
