The most fresh and delicious doughnuts in the area, made on the premises. Anywhere I bring these everyone loves them. So many to pick from...Sprinkle doughnuts with vanilla or chocolate icing, Boston crème, apple filled, prune, glazed, and the jelly sticks are all great. Go early for best selection. Asstd. danish are very good too, in fruit flavors and cheese too. All made fresh daily. They are typically closed on Monday. Plenty of free parking available in their lot on the side of the building. read more

Royal Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Parlin, New Jersey

Great donuts but they are always sold out or only things no one wants. Maybe try making a couple more trays of your most popular items. Shouldn't be sold out at 10:30 on a Sunday morning. Come on not your first year in business. You know your best sellers. read more

oh yes, a Good Reliable Bakery on Washington Road. They don't change, so if you have a bread or apple turnover or anything, it's precisely as it was m/tasted 40-50 years ago. Which is good. Esp. with food, don't improve upon the wheel, it's 100% perfect as it is. read more

The baked goods are very good with a nice selection and the prices are very fair. They have some very good doughnuts with quick and friendly service. read more

Donuts are always fluffy and soft and fresh! We love their prune donuts. Small place and friendly service. I'd call ahead to see if they have donuts still esp towards noon, they usually sell out. read more

New baker? Rye bread and pastries are not the same. Not in a good way. Need to go back to the original recipe.

Great bakery. Been coming here for years! Even though I've moved away now, I still stop by whenever I am in the area. The pastries are delicious. Here is a selection of stuff I picked up yesterday. I'm glad the prices have still stayed reasonable through the years. read more

Love the doughnuts and rye bread here. For a polish bakery they make exceptionally great cannoli. I love their cheesecake but it is different, it's very fluffy not dense, again I love it but it's a preference. The people there are so sweet. Bread and doughnuts sell out fast so get there early. read more

I've been coming here since I was a little kid because my grandma lives down the street, and it would always be the highlight of my visit to stop at the Royal Bakery! This bakery is soooo amazing and it's really unique for Jersey because it's not an Italian style but a Polish style which makes some of the treats different and gems in the state! everything is so great and it makes me so happy that this bakery is still here! Come early in the day before everything is bought!!! read more

Royal Bakery - a box of assorted donuts - Bakeries Near Me - Parlin, New Jersey

Saw a loaf of pumpernickel bread on the shelf in a plastic bag. Had them slice for me. On the way home I dreamed of a cream cheese sandwich. Opened the bag when I got home; the bread crumbled out, it was stale! It should never have been sold! read more

the girls there are having conversations in the back and make the customers wait until they're done talking and even then they move sloowww!!! they must train the help that talk is more important than customers. too bad , this is the second time this happened. I'll go elsewhere there is a great bakery in port reading ill go to from here on out . read more

This place is possibly the worst bakery I have ever been to.The Italian pastries were stale and flavorless.I'm sorry I would rather go to shop rite for fresh baked goods. Sorry read more

Better doughnuts than in Poland!!!! I always buy sweets anytime I'm in the area Jelly filled with sugar!!! read more

I wrote my initial review 3 years ago. Bread is still delicious. The donuts are top notch. The best is getting there before 7am and getting a warm donut, especially a jelly. If you go early the bread is sometimes too warm to slice. You can prepay and come back. Im serious, the rye is outstanding. Im sorry but this is not a 2.5 star bakery. Its probably a 3.5 bakery easily, maybe 3.99. I just bought two small, but large, loafs of rye for $6. Their donuts are fresh and delicious. The women who work there always are friendly to me. Please don't discount this bakery as an option. I wish I had taken a pic of the donuts and bread but they didnt survive long enough. Next time Im in Ill post some pictures. read more

Royal Bakery - One of the best jellies you can get locally - Bakeries Near Me - Parlin, New Jersey

I don't even know why this place is open. Nothing on the shelves except 2 loaves of bread and a few donuts. If you don't have anything to sell or aren't going to make anything to sell just close for the day. Make people walk in and see you have nothing and then have them walk out. What an incredible waste of time. This place should have stayed closed when they didn't pay their taxes years ago. read more

Everything is so delicious but the jelly donuts are out of this world, esp those coated in granulated sugar!!

Everything here is out of this world but the jelly donuts (we prefer the granulated sugar topping) are the best every!!!

Delicious Donuts & Cookies! The donuts were super fresh (and I went 30 min before closing). The granulated sugar with jelly was soft and had the perfect amount of jelly. Prices are super cheap and the woman who helped me was super sweet! Highly recommend this bakery! read more

Baked goods are very tasty the time they open for a bakery it's ridiculous they don't open till 6 AM the old on is used to open at five 5:30 AM read more

Bakery has nice selection to offer. Got some polish cream cheese cookies then went to the deli next door it's called "Polska Chata" was happy I stopped in got a great lunch homemade and everything!! Parking is private so that's real cool. On my way to Amboy and got hungry. This place will not let you down. The place is run by polish women old school a la madre!! Love it the way the check you out and are surprised to see a Latino come in . I enjoy quality food, so when I come across it, have to keep integrity and be honest no matter what. That's what different from my post and remarks. I will always be 100% regarding food wine and cigars. The ultimate trifecta!! read more

I have gone in there a couple of times to purchase bread and babkas for holiday meals. The babkas were ok, but there is a lady who works in there who is just nasty and rude. I also had to tell her 2 or 3 times what type of cookies I wanted, even after pointing and almost having to shout the ones I wanted! The baked goods seem fine, but I don't know how you can have someone working behind the counter and dealing with people all day who is a poor communicator and obviously does not like people! read more

I moved out of the area a few years ago, but Royal Bakery was always a bakery of choice for my family. When Daylight Bakery in South Amboy closed it became our first choice for cookies, doughnuts and breads. I have never tried their victory cake, but their kifels are the best. When I was a kid my relatives would make this delightful Eastern European cookie. I however am much too lazy to make them so whenever I am home I always stop to pick up a set. Prices are reasonable and cookies, breads and donuts are awesome. read more

I really wish there was a 3.5. I enjoy coming to this bakery. I know a lot of the negative reviews involve the staff. The old lady that is there can be nasty. I don't think she realizes it. I just think she's an old polish lady that has that take it or leave it attitude. The young girl who works there however is incredibly helpful and nice. As for the food, it's not bad. I've never gotten anything there that was bad. It's also not great however. It's a little better then average. The key to the place though is the little freezer. Open it up and there are delicious pierogies inside. Get the pizza ones and thank me later! read more

My whole family loves the delicious confections from Royal... from the "jelly buns" to the cookies and the rye bread and babak to the banana cream cake, it's all scruptious! read more

Coworkers and I go in once in awhile and get a few donuts. They are great. Boston cream and a glazed apple filled are my usual. The donuts have gotten a little smaller and the cost did go up. The current price is $1 a donut. This is why I gave it a 4 and not 5. I have only purchased donuts but the cookies look good. I have tried the sample danish which was good. The donuts are always fresh and 1000 times better then Dunkin' Donuts. read more

So disappointed with the lack of quality! On several occasions - I purchased baked goods that I am convinced had been sitting for several days. I could not even cut the nut horseshoe danish it was so stale! My husband took it back & complained. They gave him an apple turnover on the house. I took it out of the bag & was disgusted! It was so burnt & hard - that too ended up in the garbage! It use to be decent but has gone down hill! I hope they can get their act together - but we are taking a royal bakery break!!! read more

I love the Royal Bakery. I've never had a bad experience. My favorite - orange cruellers! My only issue is that they don't usually make enough of them, and when I get there on Sunday mornings, there aren't any left. SO - I try to remember to call the day before, place my order, and give a pick up time. Then on Sunday after church, I can pick it up. I've had lovely people wait on me, both young and older, and I always leave a tip! read more

THIS REVIEW IS 100% ACCURATE AND I AM EXERCISING MY 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHT IN THE POSTING OF THIS INFORMATION: VICTORY CAKE?! MORE LIKE A DEFEAT. Much to my dismay, my family has been purchasing cakes from Royal Bakery for many years. One in particular, the "Victory Cake" has been at the center of every Griswald-esq family controversy at the dinner table - one which always leads to disappointed guests who leave with empty stomachs - or aching ones, for that matter, if they've been had the unfortunate luck of eating a forkful of this monstrosity of a dessert. So what is a Victory Cake, you ask? Well, apparently it is a cake that dates back to WW2...and upon tasting this cake, you would think that it's been standing in the Royal Bakery display case since WW2. The cake itself is round with an off-white, whipped cream type substance (for lack of a better description) covering the outside of the cake, with a 'V' scribbled on top for decoration. There are also chocolate cake crumbs thrown haphazardly across the outside of the cake for additional decoration because, well, some beautiful mind must have thought it would be more appealing to the eye. Then there are a few layers to the cake on the inside alternating the same off-white whipped cream substance and chocolate cake. The whipped cream tasted rancid and had a sour taste. That's the only way to accurately describe it. The cake just crumbled upon slicing through it. There is NO WAY that a freshly baked cake would crumble in the same manner. I'd venture to guess those chocolate cake crumbs on the outside of the cake are the scraps from the leftovers gathered from a weeks worth of work. The baker must throw them over his shoulder and hell, whatever sticks to the week old cake is less mess for him to clean up. I honestly wonder how this bakery is still in business. Maybe it's because the elderly folks in town who have been frequenting this place for years are creatures of habit and refuse to go anywhere else. Maybe it's because they've lost their sense of taste along with their hearing. Maybe it's because they are of the generation that emerged victorious from the WW2 conflict and they believe in this cake under matters of principle. Whatever the case, I implore every American: AVOID ROYAL BAKERY! read more

Service is awful. They are so slow. You cant get rye bread there on a Saturday morning at 11am unless you had preordered it. I know it's St.Patricks Day, but i don't understand why it has to be preordered. Luckily, the polish deli next door has fresh homemade rye bread that they sliced it for me right there. It's called Polska Chata and their pierogies are also much better than the frozen ones they sell at Royal Bakery. read more

Food is good. Service is terrible. Family business, but these people have no idea how to run a business. 5 people working behind the counter and still clueless. There is one lady who is so slow... she was taking my order and another customer was having an issue with another worker about his order. Conversation got heated and she literally stopped what she was doing with my order to stare at the other worker and the other customer . I was literally like "hello? can you finish my order ?" There were at least 5 people behind me waiting. (Entire argument was about if he did or didn't pre order bread - they finally gave him a loaf they had in the back) - I've recently seen activity at Sun glow bakery PLEASE PLEASE let them be open again!! read more

Best cookies compared to another favorite bakery of our family's, hands down!!!! Love the pierogis!

A lifelong Sayreville resident/business owner who greatly appreciates the service and quality of the Royal Bakery. The donuts are exceptional, the rolls and rye bread cannot be beat. I have searched far and wide near the shore area to find a bakery somewhat comparable, and have been disappointed time and again. I continue to share this experience with friends from around the State and all have been overly satisfied with their products. Keep up the great work. read more
