The best Hungry Caterpillar cake ever!!!! The flavor was amazing and the look was exactly what I asked for!!!

This is one of my favorite bakery's here in Metuchen. We moved into this beautiful town just before my sons 1st birthday and scrambled to find a delicious cake which was reasonably priced. We hit the jackpot!!! The cake was made to perfection and the flavor was phenomenal! I will use this bakery for all our future events! You have to try them!!! Ps fondant is one thing that is hard to do but Carousel bakery gets the flavor and texture spot on!!!

I decided I wanted to treat myself to a little cake. I usually visit a local bakery for cakes, mini desserts, and cannolis. It's generally pretty good, although it can be a bit hit or miss depending on what you order. While searching online for bakeries nearby, this place came up with stellar reviews. I was surprised to see it was only about an 11-minute drive from my house, so I decided to make the trip. The bakery was set up much like a classic neighborhood bakery, with beautiful cakes displayed along one side and cases filled with mini desserts, pastries, cookies, and cannolis. While chatting with the staff, I mentioned the bakery I usually go to. That's when they told me that bakery actually gets its cakes from Normandie. I found that fascinating because I had always assumed every bakery made its own cakes from scratch. Suddenly, a lot made sense. I had originally planned on buying a small birthday cake, but since it was only for two people, I decided to put together an assortment of mini desserts instead. I picked up tiramisu, carrot cake, lemon cake, and several other mini cakes. Every single one was outstanding. Not one dessert missed the mark. The carrot cake was moist, the tiramisu was perfectly balanced, and the lemon cake was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, high-quality, and thoughtfully made. The minis were slightly smaller than the ones I'm used to buying elsewhere, but honestly, they were the perfect size. Now that I know where those cakes are actually coming from, I'll happily make the extra 11-minute drive and buy directly from the source. This will absolutely be my new go-to bakery for birthdays, special occasions, and hostess gifts. A wonderful birthday discovery that turned into finding my new favorite bakery.

I got an assortment of cupcakes and pastries and there was hair in my cupcakes. Lots of it. It was really gross picking tons of hair out of my mouth. I thought it was mine at first but then my hair is slicked back and there was more and more of it. They had.no peanut butter cookies or cherry puffs either. They're way too pficy for that, I was so excited about this Bakery and Now I see the bad reviews were correct.

I had the bistec à la Mexicana (Steak Mexican style). We also had a medium order of guacamole. Daughter loved her tacos. My steak had very good flavor. It came with yellow rice and black beans along with those fajitas. Which I sent back as I had enough food. The food had good flavor. However, I wasn't a fan of the guacamole. I needed more flavor and spice. The negative: they have substituted the skirt steak with flank steak. Skirt steak seems to be the choice meat for every Mexican restaurant I've been to. The flank steak can be chewy and a bit tough if not cooked properly, which is what happened. So while it had very good flavor, it was just a bit tough and chewy as it also had fat and that chewy gristle. Not sure of proper name. I removed 2 stars because of this, the guacamole and because of the credit card price vs cash price. Not every restaurant charges this. The tip was also based on the after tax amount versus the before tax amount as well as on the credit card amount. It's an annoyance. So I adjusted the tip and gave 20% based on the actual subtotal, which has always been customary. They also included tip amounts for 30%. Things are getting ridiculous. I do plan to return and try other menu options that do not include steak and guac and update my rating based on my experience.

They have a legendary deli counter loaded with subs, wraps, cheeses, soups, sauces, and their famous fresh-baked bread. The butcher counter is top-notch -- and you've got to try the chicken cutlets, they're some of the best around. Their fresh mozzarella is made daily, and the baked goods (bread, pastries, cookies) are always fresh and impossible to resist. They even have a well-stocked pantry section with all the Italian essentials -- from jars of their own house-made sauce to Antonio's pasta and more. You can even grab Nasto's ice cream for dessert! One of my favorite things about DeMARCO'S is their family dinners, which feed 4-6 people and make weeknights so much easier. I tried the Sunday Sauce Family Dinner and it absolutely did not disappoint -- hearty, homemade, and full of that comforting Italian flavor. And if you're hosting a gathering or event, their catering menu is enormous -- seriously one of the biggest and most impressive I've ever seen. Whatever you need, they've got it covered. DeMARCO'S is one of those places that feels like home -- friendly service, fresh ingredients, and food made with care.
