They have excellent muffins, bread and pound cake. We buy our bread weekly from here. Bought the blueberry pound cake today, and will be purchasing again. Pound cake was moist, not too dense or light, the perfect consistency, and used real blueberries. Tasted very fresh... I cannot get enough of their cookies! Their linzer tarts are my absolute favorite! I was so impressed that cannoli are filled to order. I even watched the girl take the filing from the refrigerator! I had brought cookies and cannoli over someone's house. Everyone was so impressed. Also, on the weekends we treat ourselves to various cookies- linzer tarts, lemon drops, S cookies, chocolate cookies, and apricot cookies at home..They also have a great cheesecake recipe! Me any mom have ordered cakes and cookies here for many years. Everything has always been good. The fig cookies, jelly butterflies, Jelly filled cookies, always Fresh and delicious. My favorites have been the Oreo cake, carrot cake, crumb cheese Danish, and black out cake. On Christmas Day my mom brought over 2 cakes from there which I previously had before one was a seven layer chocolate mousse cake and a carrot cake. This time the carrot cake was better then ever they must of changed the cake recipe to that one it was excellent! The frosting was very good but I prefer the rich cream cheese frosting they had prior so please abbate keep the new cake recipe and bring back that rich cream cheese frosting! The mousse cake was very fresh and delicious! The cakes were a much better quality now even though they have always been good. I asked my mom and she thinks there was some sort of change in owners. The worse experience I've ever had. Racial remarks by the very young staff in the presence of the manager. When I addressed the problem, I was told the little one felt bad that I heard which is why she literally ran to the back! I couldn't believe the indifference from this owner/manager or whoever she was. Did she really want me to express empathy because the comment wasn't meant to be a racial attack but rather a term used to refer to her "cousin"? I guess that should make it ok? Not!! Hopefully my post will prevent anyone who has a problem with bigotry at any level from having to step foot in this establishment. read more

I loved this bakery. I order from here all the time. However the past 2 times I have placed online orders (both 3 days in advance) and paid in advance online the bakery did not have my order. The first time I waited about 15 minutes and they were able to compile my order. The second time they wanted me to come back in an hour to pick up my cake. I did not have the time and had to get something totally different. They charge immediately once you place the order however when you go to pick it up they have no idea what you're talking about. The 1 thing I got when I randomly stopped here was 5 Stars. Linzer Tart.... I love these things so much a picture of them is the background on my computer. Seriously. Abbate brought the Linzer Tart to an other level. The top cookie was CRUMBCAKE!!!! I hate when Bakery's keep the food in refrigerators, and when I saw these sitting out not in a fridge all fresh looking I needed it. It was the most Jelly I've ever had in a Linzer Tart. Normally I'm trying to spread around the extra jelly from the middle throughout the cookie, but no not here. There was more Jelly then I almost knew what to do with....good thing I LOVE JELLY. Terrible experience with staff. Were rude and refused to give a price on a cake. I wouldn't even be able to tell you if the food itself was good because I never even got to purchase anything. I know someone else who was actually thrown out of the bakery by the same staff I dealt with - and for no reason at all other than the staff didn't want to help them or give contact information for a manager to speak to about pricing. So I've ordered from here many times before. This time I had ordered a cake 2 weeks in advanced for my daughter's communion. We were supposed to pick it up yesterday at around 11ish I get a call from them at 820am saying that they can't fulfill my order that they can reschedule or refund me my money. First of all you can't reschedule a communion for a cake. But anyway they were without power which granted I understand you lost power Tuesday. But it's their responsibility to call their costumers at least a couple of days before to let them know they haven't had power that there's a chance you might not have power by this certain date not on the same day that your costumers are due to pick up orders. If they had called me Thursday or even Friday morning I could have looked to see if somewhere else could have made a cake. I mean bjs says they need 24hrs advance so I could have done. I'm just disappointed in their time management. I feel like they could've did better. read more

I ordered a cake for a 90th birthday party. I was very specific with how I would like the cake to look, including sending pictures. The cake was supposed to be purple and they made it white. When I addressed this with them, they acknowledged that it was an error on their part, but that the cake would still taste delicious and there is nothing that can be done. When I asked to speak to the owner I was told he was too busy to talk to me and I was hung up on. If you order a cake from them, make sure it is what you want it to look like before you pay! Yesterday was my first time going to Abbate and I got a dozen cannoli to bring to a friend's dinner party for dessert. I was so disappointed with them! My expectations were high and I loved that they were filled fresh but their cannoli cream is so heavy and not sweet; it is like eating a brick of milk stuffed in a soggy shell. She loves Nutella so I ordered a Nutella cake not only did they charge me $36 for a 7 inch cake but they charged me for the jar of Nutella that they supposedly put in the cake! The nerve! This bakery must have new owners. This is the second time here recently for cake cookies and pastry and got stuck with stale stuff. Will not be coming back EVER. Even the showcases are half full and not clean like they used to be. The bakery is no longer inviting and looks dirty. Better off at Tuscany or Livoti's for cake, cookies, and pastry. I visit Abbate every time I come into town from CA. Their cases are always loaded with fresh cookies, pastries, cakes, and bread. I had a few people recommend Abbate's so we figured we try it. We bought some cookies & a Oreo Cake. The cookies were ok but the cake was awful!! The cake was dry & the icing wasn't even sweet. This was nothing like any other Oreo cake I had had. It was so bad we threw it away. I don't think I have ever thrown a cake away before.
