Food 3/5 We got whipped feta, short rib hummus, and Brussels sprouts for apps and they were great individually but dip the Brussels in the whipped feta and it's even better. We got the steak frites, chicken kebab, crab cakes, grilled chicken kebab for our entrees and they were pretty mid. We honestly could have skipped them. The ambiance is always great in there. The music and the lighting. The server was great answering our questions about wines.
Went to Aba for my husband's birthday. Reservation was for 8pm we waited a little bit to be seated. We grabbed drinks while we waited. I had the freeda vita I really liked that it was refreshing and great for a hot day. I also had a expresso martini but it was not as good as some other local restaurants in the area. Our favorite dishes were the green chili shrimp, whipped feta and garlic hummus. The falafel and taziki was good. The beef and lamb kabob was dry the rice was delicious. I think the dips could be better if they had crispy pita bread or chips vs soft pita we needed texture. The sticky date cake was burnt at the bottom. Had a bad taste. The short ribs were just okay. The ambiance was okay I didnt like the music and it was just super loud. Overall I al happy I tried it but will likely not go back. They also charged us for a birthday dessert which I wasn't expecting. The waiter was not excellent he was pretty average didnt do anything to wow me.
Elevated, clean cuisine that is becoming a Chicago classic. Food was fantastic. Dishes are elevated yet carry a rustic charm resembling what you would get from a mom-and-pop restaurant. No dish was too heavy with oils or grease or fats which left us feeling full and satisfied without the groggy food coma. Flavors sing Mediterranean, and truly can't pick a wrong item. If I had to make a recommendation, the mushroom hummus for vegetarians is devine!! For the beef lovers out there, I've been recommended the short rib hummus countless times and I'm certain it would hit the spot. Unfortunately not the best Mediterranean food I've had in town, but definitely a can't miss place when making your restaurant hit list. The ambiance is also elegant and fit for an upscale Mediterranean meal. The indoor section is beautiful but I hear outdoor section is just as great of an experience. Again, can't go wrong on where you choose to make your reservation. The service is where the restaurant falls a bit short. They get incredibly busy and as a result it took over an hour to receive our meal. Was it worth the wait? Definitely, but wish the service could have been a bit more attentive also. Rating: 4/5
Came back to Aba during their happy hour hours and got to try a spread of their hummus -- sooo delicious! The asparagus dish was phenomenal; it was a mix of flavors my partner and I had never expected to be a match made in heaven and i'd highly recommend! There was also a hot honey cheese offering from the HH menu and it was also amazing. The honey was strong and the spice wasn't too much; such an amazing pairing together. Aba never disappoints and I will always come back!
The vibes were great within the restaurant, the food was wow. Of everything we ordered, the only one I'd skip is the whipped feta, just lacking some oomph in flavor, but I love the simplicity of the spread. The things you MUST get: crispy short rib hummus, and the stick date cake (do not skip out on this, you ALWAYS have room for desserts). Service was quick, efficient and very friendly. Great spot overall
I can't hype up this place enough... Aba Chicago is my Top 3 favorite food spot in the city. I've had such good experiences here that I actually took my entire cousins Wedding Party here to celebrate and they treated us beyond well. Took very good care of us. I've gone here for multiple birthdays, that's how much I've enjoyed my time here. Can never go wrong with the crispy Brussels sprouts or braised short beef rib... to die for. I could give compliments all day so I'll stop here. Also, wonderful customer service & vibes, top notch truly. Just know, if you've never been, I highly highly recommend. Came for lunch on a Monday. There were only a few seats at the bar and the indoor/outdoor dining were completely full. I recommend a reservation if you decide to dine here. Service and concept were amazing. The atmosphere of this place is very picturesque. The decor, the plants, the seamless flow into the rooftop patio are all amazing. The food was meh. We ordered the short rib hummus, the crispy chicken thighs, the crispy Brussels, and the short rib entree. Can't say I left feeling like any of it was authentic Mediterranean food. The crispy short rib was more chewy that crispy. The Brussels sprouts didn't appear to be parboiled prior to crisping so it was quite a tough chew. The chicken thighs were not crispy at all. The saving grace was the pita bread. Glad we saw the place because we have always seen the place packed when we visit but I can't say I'll recommend or visit again
Wow!! Amazing food, excellent service, and beautiful ambiance! I'm so glad I took my boyfriend here for his birthday! The decor is beautiful! The romantic lighting and lovely trees all around really create a special atmosphere. Olivia took great care of us and made excellent recommendations. It's family style and it was suggested that we share around two dishes per person. We started with the wild mushroom hummus, and it was so creamy and delicious. The homemade bread with it was fantastic too. The Shawarma-Spiced Skirt Steak Frites dish was perfection! The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and served with red wine jus, za'atar and feta, and the fries were well seasoned and crispy. We really enjoyed the green chili shrimp, with garlic, Parmesan, and breadcrumbs. The dish had a nice spice level and kick. The Brussels sprouts were a tasty side dish too. For dessert, the Chocolate Hazelnut Torte was phenomenal! The dark chocolate mousse was divine and the praline crunch was the best texture and flavor. The candied orange slices around the sides provided a really nice compliment to the dish. Olivia treated us to a frozen Greek yogurt for a birthday treat. It was so refreshing and such a lovely palate cleanser. Smooth cocktails too. I really enjoyed the Paper Plane. My boyfriend liked his Mediterranean Mule too. And we enjoyed a cappuccino and cortado to end our evening. It was a wonderful night!
I stopped by Aba's after work hoping it was OK to simply walk in. I arrived at the restaurant around 5:45pm and saw that the place was already super busy. That said, I had no problem snagging a spot at the bar, which was first come first serve. I can totally see why Aba was a trendy spot. The restaurant was quite stunning, and the impressive menu matched the aesthetic. The bartenders were awesome. There were 2 gentlemen in charge of the bar, and they were both very friendly and helpful. Loved chatting with them, hearing their food recommendations at Aba and advice on the local scene. Food came out lightening fast. I felt that as soon as they placed an order, the dish came out in 5 minutes. I enjoyed everything I had. I started off with their Oasis G&T, which was a "tropical" spin on a gin and tonic. The cocktail paired perfectly with the Hamachi & Charred Avocado, which had coconut cream and lychee. This dish was so light, cool (thanks to the mint), and refreshing. Last but not least, I got the chocolate hazelnut torte that one of the bartenders raved about. It was clearly a popular opinion as the server who delivered it to me also confirmed that it was their best dessert off the menu. The torte was fantastic. The chocolate mousse was silky, and the praline crunch broke up the texture in a good way.
Aba is in Fulton market and has outdoor and indoor seating! The restaurant is open and bright. I loved the olive trees that made the room feel like I was outside! The plates are shareable so this is great because you can share a few dishes! I tried the smoked garlic hummus (comes with pita bread), short rib Shakshouka, crispy potatoes, and the beef and lamb kofta! This was for two people and we had left overs. The hummus was fantastic! I highly recommend getting the crispy potatoes as well! I have never tried shakshouka with meat in it before and didn't love the texture. However, the flavor was sweet and savory! The only thing that was not ideal was that an optional surcharge was on the receipt, when we tried to get our server to help remove it per instructions on the receipt no one was to be found. That was disappointing and potentially strategic? I would have rather just tipped. I'm not sure how others feel about the surcharge?
(3.5/5) For my birthday, we decided to try Aba, a Mediterranean fusion restaurant with a beautiful interior. We were seated at a high-top table next to the bar, which wasn't my preference, but I also didn't specify what type of seating I wanted. The server was a nice lady who introduced the menu to us and suggested some dishes to order. The meal began with bread service. I really liked the soft pita-type bread that was made with yogurt. When the short rib hummus arrived, it also came with the soft bread. The short rib was tender and wonderful, and wasn't too salty. I especially liked the brussels sprouts and found the sweetness of the honey very memorable. I would also recommend the truffle orzo as it was flavourful and baked to perfection. Apart from those dishes, everything else felt standard and not too memorable. For dessert, I selected the house-made frozen Greek yogurt, and I loved it! The pistachio and candied orange paired really well with it. My friends also prepared a cake for me, which I had no idea of! The server suggested that we could cut the cake ourselves to avoid the cake plating fee. This was a kind suggestion. I decided to round up the review to a 4 for the beautiful ambiance and wonderful service.
This lives up to the hype and more. I've visited this restaurant twice in a month, and I leave wanting more. My first visit, my table split the short rib hummus, and my sole critique is that I had to share the appetizer. The unique spins on what could be considered standard dishes is so impressive. Another example of that is the chicken kefta burger. It's so moist, packs a ton of flavor, and is so filling that I didn't even need the accompanying fries. Lastly, the restaurant is stunning inside and out - I didn't see a bad seat in the place, and there's a partially (?) covered patio to sit on for the nice days. All in all, a great place to take visitors if you want to impress them with Chicago eats!
I've heard amazing things about Aba and was so excited to try it when I was in Chicago! Our waitress recommended getting 7-9 items for our party of 4 so we got the whipped feta, hummus, potatoes, Brussel sprouts, falafel, and chicken kefta. My favorite item was the whipped feta with the warm pita. Everything else was good but didn't WOW me. The chicken kefta was flavorful but really salty and a bit dry. I wasn't the biggest fan of the texture either. This place is definitely beautiful and the vibes are immaculate- it gives RH a run for their money. Would definitely come again for a perfect week night dinner. read more

A great experience! Our waiter was very attentive and the food was great. You can't go wrong with the crispy short rib hummus. It's definitely a must! All of us enjoyed our food. I loved the crème brûlée. I would go back just for that crème brûlée. read more

Walked in last night and luckily got seated pretty quickly! Although I will say, the staff at the front wasn't the most welcoming, and seemed annoyed that we didn't have reservations. Anyway, we started with "A whole mood" (reposado) and "Aloe, it's me" (mezcal). A whole mood was DELICIOUS, I loved the yuzu foam. We also got- Short rib hummus- really unique, short rib was nice and tender Brussel sprouts- these were okay, a bit too sweet for my taste Shrimp- my fave! the presentation was like chargrilled oysters, I loved the flavor Cauliflower kebabs- these were okay. the cauliflower tasted smoky but I wish it had more flavor Turkish coffee ice box cake- this was very unique! I also love Turkish coffee so this hit the spot I wanted to try one of their "old world wines" so we got a Greek bottle that wasn't too pricey, it was good! The ambiance is very trendy and modern, I can definitely see why this is a hard rez to grab! The food, however, didn't really stand out to me. read more

Fellas this is the perfect date night! First off I recommend getting reservations as this is located in the west loop area and pretty popular. When arriving the door is ducked off and you have to take an elevator up. We started our dinner with two espresso martinis and our waiter coursed our the rest of our evening. We had the lamb and beef kefta fire, the Brussels were smacking, and the scallops were delicious. After eating dinner take your date to the patio area and vibe. read more
Aba is sooo freakin good. First of all, what a beautiful ambiance. This place is perfect for a brunch with girlfriends or a date. We ordered several plates that were shareable, and the must try items are the short rib hummus and chocolate french toast! I could eat both all day! The french toast didn't look appetizing in the picture, but it's amazing! Thank me later. Honorable mentions go to the strawberry-rhubarb biscuit and brussels sprouts. I could have done without the skirt steak. It wasn't cooked to our liking and was kind of tough and chewy. This place is a winner though. Service was also great. read more
Had some good company paired with great food. All the food dishes are shareable. A couple different dishes came out at a time. I thoroughly enjoyed every single dish I tried. The food was amazing! Highly recommend the whipped feta and the grilled chicken kebab. One of the best meals I've had in Chicago! Great ambiance! The service, however, was subpar. The waitress was very nice but overall the staff was not very attentive. Our waters weren't refilled the whole meal, just at the end when the check was brought to us. They were also very slow to clear our plates, we had stacks of empty plates on our table the whole meal. Stopped by at this place with a friend. Reservation required. It's a very pretty place with amazing food. We tried some zero proof cocktails as well as food dishes. Service was quick too. We got fava beans humus to start with, a side of egg and cheese pide thing (forgot the real name), and some falafels. While I loved the rare cooked egg oozing out of the pide while cutting it, my fav was the fresh falafel. I wasn't a big fan of fava beans hummus because it seemed a bit dry. The ambience is really pretty too, they have indoor and outdoor patio. Indoor has a huge glass ceiling that gives it a patio feel itself. I'll surely try this place again. read more
This was a highly recommended place from a few locals and I am glad we took their word for it! Aba is a Mediterranean restaurant in the West Loop. We had to make a reservation for Sunday morning brunch for a party of 6. Initial impression upon walking in was giving influencer vibes. The decor and ambience of this place was top notched. We were sat in semi-outdoor area where there was adequate sunlight and somewhat of a view. Our server was very informative and helpful. Now the highlight of this place HAS to be the food. I think this might just be my favorite Mediterranean spot! What we got for 6 people: Hamachi Short Rib Hummus Whipped Feta Hummus Beef Tartare Short Rib Shakshuka Lamb and Beef Kefta Khachapuri We over-ordered for the 6 people we had, but we do not regret trying everything that was served. The hummus we ordered were SO good. The pita they offered was warm and they were probably one of the best pita bread I've had. Everything we ordered was so good. We did definitely struggle to finish the Lamb/Beef Kefta towards the end since we were all stuffed. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food and vibes! read more
I finally found the time to stop in and try this hot spot in the West Loop! Located on the 3rd floor, this spacious and beautiful spot is a tapas style restaurant with a wide variety of offerings for both food and drinks. It can be difficult to get a 'dinner' reservation here as we were able to snatch a 9pm spot so I recommend planning accordingly when it comes to making reservations. Our server Alexis was great in addition to the sommelier - it made the experience wonderful. With the help of their sommelier, we started off with a glass of red wine, which paired wonderfully with all of our dishes. The Hamachi was super light and refreshing as it was paired with citrus and starfruit - one of my favorites. The famous short rib hummus is definitely a must-try as it melts in your mouth. I would recommend asking for more pita bread on the side! The lamb and beef kefta was flavorful and juicy, pairing well with the basmati rice. The roasted pork belly was good but this one didn't wow me as much. We somehow got our crispy potatoes last which I had hoped we got it first before everything because by the time it came out, we got full. The cripsy potatoes remind me of sour cream ruffle chips - super good but only when fresh. We wrapped up our meal with the amazing sticky date cake that my friend had recommended - we practically inhaled this and everyone and their mother should get it! I would love to bring friends here and look forward to visiting during the daytime! read more
We were here after my daughter's graduation for celebration. It's very nice restaurant with great ambiance. We were sitting on the deck, it beautiful. The food is tasty and inviting! 7 of us finished 17 plates! Oh my god. What a meal. I think we probably had everything on the menu i don't know. Great flavor profiles! Well thought through dishes and beautiful restaurant layout. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes here. Be sure to make a reservation well beforehand! Ambiance: Located on the third floor, this restaurant has beautiful rooftop views of Fulton market, lots of natural lighting, and has an array of seating options. Decor is lovely and perfect for your Instagram brunch photos. I rate the ambiance 9.5/10. Food: Everything I tasted here truly was divine. I truly loved every dish I tried. I came here for brunch and ordered the Whipped Feta spread, Jerusalem bagel (with the smoked salmon dip), Hamachi, and Short Rib Shakshuka. I definitely recommend ordering the bagel with the smoked salmon dip and whipped feta. The bagel tasted awesome with both dips!! I couldn't stop eating it. The hamachi I got came with pomegranate, lime, and kiwi which sounds odd together but it paired perfectly and was very refreshing. The short rib shakshuka was everything I wanted it to be- this is a safety, definitely must try dish. This dish tastes like home - it's warm, seasoned with hints of cumin with tender short rib, so tasty! We also got the Carajillo Martini (Aba's espresso martini) which was perfect with our brunch! I rate the food 9.7/10- really amazing. Service: We sat at the bar and our server was attentive when available. He answered our questions and gave us worthy recommendations. Where do I start! From start to finish it was amazing. Top professionalism. Ambiance within the restaurant was fabulous and serene. Disappointed that we couldn't get reservations on the patio especially since it was covered and snowing, which I think would have felt like setting in a snow globe! Was impressed that we were able to get reservstions for 3 at dinner on a Saturday with a couple days notice We were greeted with a genuine smil! And our waitress was phenomenal! Helped us navigate ordering with a vegan guest (which I forgot to take photos of her food ). Highly recommend the salmon kebab as well as the house-made stracciatella but it could use a few more "croutons" read more

Such a cute restaurant with photogenic decor. The passion fruit H&P and espresso martinis were delicious! Our faves were the truffle salmon, falafel, whipped feta, and chicken schnitzel. The short rib hummus wasn't as good as Avec's but still good. read more
Aba is possibly my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Chicago. Most of the items I have had here are fantastic and their aesthetic and service are hard to beat! Get the crispy short rib hummus. The hummus is delectably creamy and the short rib is tender. It also comes with some fresh pita which I adore. Other outstanding appetizers include the house-made straciatella and brussel sprouts. For their main dishes, standouts for me include the chicken kefta kebabs, the roasted pork belly, and the skirt steak. The skirt steak has a very nice and pronounced beef flavor which I appreciate. The only item I didn't like is the tamarind-braised short rib. The meat was not quite fork-tender and the vinaigrette was kinda odd flavor-wise for me. I've tried the sticky date cake and really enjoyed it. It's warm and not too sweet, a great end to the meal. Although parking is an absolute pain in the West Loop, I'm still going to suck it up for Aba. Can't wait to return and try more of their menu! This is a beautiful LEYE establishment, but unfortunately its not easy to get a reservation but personally I like going in the early evening or for brunch. The drinks are nice - pricey but in line with most restaurants now of days - and the food can be hit or miss. My personal favorite is the hamachi, so good that I don't like to share. The dips are always delicious and of all the things I've had, the only thing I wasn't thrilled about were the lamb chops. They were okay but I just expected more. WOW! This experience set the bar high for 2023 dining. Definitely one of my new top favorites in Chicago. Ever gone to a super hyped up restaurant, and the food just didn't live up to it? You certainly will not have to worry about that at Aba! Getting reservations here is definitely a challenge, but if you're able to snag a coveted seat you will be treated to quite the experience. The space and ambiance at Aba is perfectly curated, and is a nice blend of Mediterranean touches with a modern flair. If you want you can also try your luck at walking in. There are 2 bars, and some lounge areas reserved for walk in guests. The food is all meant to be shareable, and the portion sizes are generous. The menu is Mediterranean inspired with influences from Turkey, Lebanon, Greece, and Israel. The bar program here is also well planned out with drinks to compliment the food. All the menus are easy to explore as they're broken into sections. Everything is coursed out appropriately even if you place your order at once. We started with the spicy lamb ragu hummus, marinated olives & feta, and ahi tuna carpaccio. All of the flavors were fresh and bold. The carpaccio and the hummus were definitely top dishes for the evening. We then moved on to the heavier fare with the brussel sprouts, tamarind braised short ribs, pan roasted white striped bass, and the salmon kebab. It's hard to say what our favorite part of the meal was as every dish was extremely well put together, and delicious . My personal favorite was the short ribs. The brussel sprouts were a great sized portion for a side dish and nicely charred. We ended the meal with the sticky date cake, which was so delicious we almost ordered another round. The top was caramelized, and reminded us of creme brûlée. The bourbon caramel sauce complemented the cake well, and the whipped cream was airy & fresh. If we weren't so full from our meal there were several other dishes we were interested in sampling. We honestly thought we were ordering only the first round when we put our order in, but ended up stuffed as the portion sizes were generous. Aba is definitely a must try restaurant in Chicago so try to snag a reservation on opentable, or walk in for bar/lounge seating. You will be treated to a wonderful meal in a gorgeous space. They also have a brunch menu as well as an open air dining space in the summer months. In the summer I can imagine you'll feel like you've been transported somewhere else! read more
Aba's ambiance is beautiful and serene at first impression. Great place for a date, share with friends and family. Feels like you're in someone's private garden. The service is friendly, however a bit slow, so if you're not on a schedule, and just want to sit back and chill, it's perfect. The food is delicious! Plates: -Tuna tagliata with radish, chili, and satsuma ginger vinaigrette. Fresh, refreshing, and well balanced with the vinaigrette. -Tamarind braised short rib with green garlic purée, nigella and barberry vinaigrette. Tender and flavorful. -Diver scallops with fig, fenugreek, sumac, and date vinaigrette. Scallops seared to perfection, and great combination with the sumac and date vinaigrette. -Broccoli with date tahini. Beautifully charred served with lemon and tahini. -Lamb and beef kefta served with lemon, tzatziki, and rice. The kefta is seasoned and grilled perfectly. read more

This restaurant is beautiful! The greenery, lighting, and rooftop are so picturesque. This restaurant is in the Fulton Market area and the open rooftop seating offers great views of the city. The food is very fresh and tasty. Some favorites of our group were the short rib hummus, different but really delicious. Also the whipped feta, chicken kefta, and the chicken schnitzel was really great as well. My sisters loved their cocktails, all around a great night out. read more

Get the whipped feta and Japanese sweet potato miso spread. Served with unlimited, warm baskets of sesame pita bread. Dangerous but delicious. Other menu items can be a bit of a miss, and I would not reorder. Kalbi was tender but didn't have that signature sweet or charred flavor. It had the fattiness, but without the flavor the first taste you get is oil. Chicken meatballs were nicely spiced and had a nice texture, but the rice was a bit dry and lacking seasoning. Tuna cucumber watermelon salad could have been fresher. One person in my party got sick the day after, and she suspected the fish. Crispy potatoes looked impressive due to their size but lacked flavor and was more mushy than crispy. Service: Impeccable service. The servers thoroughly checked for allergies first, which was much appreciated. Ambiance: Incredibly romantic. You're seated among trees lit with lanterns. I'm no connoisseur of Greek/Mediterranean cuisine, but this was the absolute best meal/experience I've had in that genre in a long, long time. My goodness, from the dramatic entryway, to the ambiance leading you into the dining area, to the short rib and garlic hummus, the tuna carpaccio was amazing, muhammara was a bit more spicy/peppery than I'm accustomed to but was great. My family really liked the lamb chops, crab cakes, shrimp scampi, salmon kebabs. Will be back. Amazing food, great/friendly service read more

One of the top restaurants in Chicago! Aba has been a popular spot ever since it's opened up and I finally got around to write a review. Unsurprisingly it was impressive from the decor, to the service and of course the Mediterranean tapas. This place is such an experience the moment you walk in after taking a short elevator ride to the second floor. Sort of feels like you walked into an olive tree grove to have an intimate dinner. Large amounts of greenery fill a warm dining room. The staff is very friendly and incredibly polished. You'll notice it in the subtleties of how they pair and deliver all of the the tapas dishes you ordered. Last but not least the food! Yes it's Mediterranean but it's elevated and the flavors are robust. The black garlic shrimp scampi is a must. I really liked the sea bass and crispy chicken thighs too. Oddly, one of my favorites is just dipping the warm and well seasoned house bread/pita into the whipped feta....delicious! I can quite confidently say that this is the best fine dining Mediterranean in Chicago! read more

Does the restaurant add an additional service fee on the check?
Yes, I think they add a 4% service fee to offset rising operational costs. The fee is optimal and you can request to remove it and they will!
When making a reservation, what is the difference between the Outside patio lounge and Outside patio table options? Also, is the outside patio different from the rooftop?
Lounge is couches and low tables
Hi, I just booked a reservation for outside seating on Oct 20 in the late evening. Is the outside seating going to be okay if it is cold? Do you have an enclosure or heaters or something?

I was wondering what time does the kitchen usually close? Looking to make a late night reservation but not sure how much time we would have to dine. (ex. 9:45pm reservation, but you close at 10pm)
Hi Dominick! As long as you are seated for your reservation within our open hours, you will be able to order from the kitchen and enjoy our full menu. Our close time is when we stop seating for the evening. We hope to welcome you in soon!

Anyone knows why there aren't reservations available between 1:15 - 6:45pm on Saturdays? Do they close during that time?

Menu looks amazing! But we have one in our party allergic to olives/olive oil...anything on the menu for him?
I would recommend calling the restaurant. I cannot say much was made without olive oil, but the staff would know. It will be limited for sure. Good luck.

If we plan to walk in and sit at the bar this Saturday what time frame would you recommend before it typically gets busy? I know you cannot guarantee but was just curious based on your experience. Thanks
They open at 3 on Saturday for dinner. I would recommend arriving at 3 or 4 as it fills up quickly with reservations. Brunch begins at 11, but not sure how that works and such
