We've always had great service from the old…read morestore in Valley River Center, the one on Gateway and recently, for the first time, the one on Oakway. Last week we stopped in because we wanted (needed) to upgrade some of our furniture. We met up with one of the managers, Manny. He was very appreciative of our changing needs. He listened to our concerns and guided us to the style of recliners that fits our current situation. We found the perfect combo of recliners at reasonable prices. Manny made a call and managed to get us an early delivery date as well. We also utilized the option for the delivery team to haul away the old heavy, electronic mini sofa for us. We had to make a separate call to the delivery team to confirm the haul away, but that turned out to be very easy, plus they are a local team in my area and know it well, no having to wait at the end of the driveway to flag them down. Well, the delivery truck just left and we are very satisfied. They did an awesome job turning that truck around and getting it lined up right in this tight turnaround. The delivery guys were very polite and courteous. They easily dismantled the old stuff. They brought in the new, out with the old, no scuffs, bumps, scrapes.... Just an excellent job of navigating furniture up steps, around corners and through doors. They set up the furniture and made sure everything functions properly. I can't see us going anywhere else for furniture, every Rife's location has done right by us.

Just had one of the *worst* customer service experiences in a long time. I had two items to return -- totaling $48 -- with my receipt. The items were purchased from an Ace store in a different state, just 20 days ago. I was informed that this store is an "independent" store and that they would not be accepting my return because "it's their policy." Top it off the "assistant manager" (guy with a beard) had quite an attitude -- no customer service skills of any kind, rude, curt. I'll not get into it, but suffice to say this guy shouldn't be dealing with the public. He made me feel like a criminal for trying to return something bought in another store. Like I was trying to get away with something. It was surreal. This is contrary to every experience I've ever had at an Ace Hardware store. And any national chain frankly: You bought something in a different store, any store should take it back with a receipt and a smile. This incident reflects poorly on the entire Ace brand. They told me I could call the store where I bought it and mail it to them for a return. Yeah, not helpful. "Ace is the place with the unhelpful hardware man..." The irony here is I go out of my way to buy local and to support my local businesses. Ace Hardware of Veneta has just made the perfect argument NOT to. Had I purchased the two items from Amazon, I'd have returned them with ZERO HASSLE. Well, Ace Hardware of Veneta you got your wish: You will never have to worry about me returning anything to your store EVER. Because I will not be buying anything from you. Or ANY Ace Hardware store ever again. You just walked 35 years of customer loyalty by showing me your POLICY is more important than my BUSINESS. Congratulations on holding onto $48! I just bought a property in rural Lane County and the we're gutting the house and barn, rebuilding a fence... MAJOR renovation. Over the next several months, I will need paint, tools, hardware, plumbing, HVAC, electrical... tens of thousands of dollars worth (only tens if I'm lucky). I'm doing much of the work myself. Rest assured Ace Hardware of Veneta: I will not be returning anything to your store. Every single thing I need can and will be purchased on Amazon. Every. Single. Thing. Before they arrived, our family received pillows as a Christmas gift and ended up loving those. When the Mattress Firm pillows were delivered, we never opened the box. Within a few weeks of purchase, I returned to the store to request a refund. Despite the pillows being unopened, unused, and brand new, the store refused to take them back. What made this experience significantly worse was the behavior of the store manager. She was rude, dismissive, and completely indifferent to the financial impact this had on our family. She refused to be helpful in any way, would not allow me to speak with anyone else or escalate the issue, and essentially shut the conversation down in a hostile manner. Being treated with this level of disrespect while being denied a refund for $500 of unopened merchandise is outrageous. There was no empathy, no customer service, and no professionalism shown. I strongly advise anyone considering shopping at this location to be extremely cautious and to get return policies in writing. Based on this experience, I will never shop here again.

A person with dementia or some other impairment, or even accidentally, would end up on the floor. The bed would simply dump them. What if they could not get up? This should have been pointed out to us at the point of purchase. Also, a person who needed to sleep in a heads up reclining position would be on a downward slant, which would be uncomfortable and untenable. You couldn't stay there. You would continue to slide downward. When I called the store, the salesperson said I had to pay 250.00, to return the bed. I think this is unfair. The bed is unsafe. He would not give me a supervisor's name or number and says that there is no one in a supervisory capacity he would give me a name or number to. This is wrong!

The customer service is lacking. Makes me feel like Walmart has more intelligent employees at times. This would also be when you can find one walking around to help you. Otherwise, you're just kind of left in no man's land to find whatever on your own. I've never had to return anything, so I have no opinion about that. The cashiers are OK, and really just OK. They kind of border on, get your shit and get out, while doing it with a smile. I've never been a huge fan of the store, it would get three stars at best. After going to the new Springfield store and comparing the two, it's barely a two star experience. The simple fact I can't give any specific example of them being terrible, is why it gets two stars. It's simply not an impressive place to go. I'll stick to the Springfield store where I am always greeted, asked if I need anything and shown where the item I need is.
