I went into Don's as I have before with what I thought was a simple request I had all the specifications of what I wanted I knew the name of it I just didn't have the part number but this was too much. I like supporting local businesses so I put $4 a gallon in my tank to drive across town to be told that my request was too much I didn't have a part number it took me 30 seconds to a minute on Amazon to find the part and order it . It'll be delivered to my house in a few days for free the 30 seconds to a minute is too much to ask you need a part number if you go here and I came here for years and been mildly irritated quite a few times with this service and I won't ever be back again it's just too easy to order it online must be nice having that kind of money to turn down a polite cash paying customer just 30 seconds is too much to ask . read more

Dont go to Dons ! I paid $ 449.00 to repair my oven. The repair lasted just over 2 months. They charged me another service fee to come out and told me it would cost me another $449.00 to repair again and the warranty would only be 90 days. So i thought $898.00 was a bit much to pay to fix it and have it break again after 90 days. I tried to reason with them to make it right, but she wasnt having it! This place is actually pretty nice and clean inside. It's a surprisingly professional looking place. They don't have great customer service as I waited around forever and nobody was ever inside. Maybe they were closed, but it was the middle part of the day. Very happy with our experience with Don's Appliance Center. We have a Speed Queen clothes washer, and they are the local authorized repair place. The service man came out and assessed the problem, and even noted that the washer was still under warranty! He arrived within the appointment window promised both times, was very polite and thorough, and my washer is back to it's normal operation. The washer my friend purchased a couple years ago a whirlpool started to leak after the cycle was over coming from the bottom of the washer I called they couldn't come out for 10 days we didn't do laundry for two weeks I had to call Allstate because the floor was so wet they had to rip up the floor they came out said they found the leak and that I could use the washer but to turn the valves off after I was finished which I did this morning I wake up to a wet laundry room again valves were closed I called they can't come out again until they get the new part whenever that will be so I'm left with calling Allstate again to come re-dry the floor out so in the meantime or again without a washer for probably two weeks horrible customer service will never do business with them again!!! read more

How truly awful is this place? Let me count the ways. 1. Overpriced and outdated inventory. Quoted prices for fridge, stove, dishwasher and washer and dryer were 20-43% higher than best quotes from other retailers. 2. Owner is RUDE and seemingly deliberately unhelpful. Refused to provide part number. 3. Parts have a minimum 110% markup from actual MFG suggested retail. Recently was quoted $75 each for 3 replacement refrigerator drawers. Purchased SAME GE OEM drawers for $35 each which is suggested retail. If this was the last place in Eugene to purchase appliances, service or parts I would drive to PDX before I did business with Big Don! read more

Worst experience with a local business ever ! We went to Don's because we prefer to support local businesses, but we would never go back!! They sold us a Maytag model refrigerator that would never stabilize with proper temperatures - either freezing vegetables in the refrigerator or thawing things in the freezer. We tried every setting. After three ineffective repair visits from Don's, with a week between each visit and two visits to the store to try and get better service, they told us that we needed to work directly with the manufacturer if we were going to get it fixed or replaced. By this time it had been well over a month and that was the end of Don's Maytag's involvement. Never once did they call us to see how it was going. After multiple hours on the phone on hold with Maytag and multiple more repair visits, a new technician, (not from Don's) took us seriously and discovered the problem, which was not repairable. Two weeks later we got a replacement frig and quickly realized that it too didn't work. Eventually the second one was replaced with a third one. We wrote to Don's asking for some compensation for being without a working refrigerator for over three months, laying out all that had happened. We received an unsigned letter, the gist of which was that they took no responsibility. read more

We called them to service our Jenn-air ovens. We were told to contact them through our warranty service. Don's appliance told us they would not come out if we could not "prove" we had a problem even though we told them the screen had said "shut down" and the system quit working a couple times. They said they wouldn't come out unless the appliance didn't work...and if they had to come out then they would have to charge us regardless the warranty. We thought that they would have some kind of diagnostics to trouble shoot...but he said to call back when the ovens didn't work anymore otherwise they were not interested. read more

I had a Maytag washer and dryer that I purchased years ago from that store. After time passed and heavy usage, I needed a repair on the dryer heating element. After looking at info provided, they did some research on the model and determined the part was not available anymore for that dryer. It is one no longer made. They called and explained when they cancelled the appointment which saved me a service call. I went to the store and found a new dryer I wanted, purchased it and when the delivery came, the amazing tech/delivery guy, measured and could see that they one I had purchased was not going to work well in my space. He explained it to me and told me about a different model at the store with very similar features. It was less expensive and had a five year rather than a one year initial warrantee. I followed him and he took my old dead dryer back to the store along with the one I had purchased. They helped me exchange it to the other model and for just a few extra dollars I got a new washer as well. My current washer was the same age as my dryer. The next morning, he delivered them both and installed them. The amount of care he took to be sure I would not regret my first purchase, was amazing. It was no skin off his nose, the sale was done, but he felt that the amount it would have stuck out in the door to that room would have made me unhappy and he was right on target. While in my home he took great care with my floors, walls and furniture. He was very knowledgeable, polite and kind which is such a treat these days. Now my new appliances are in place and they are amazing. I could not be happier. The in store experience was also very good. They are what a local business should be. Their price tag on the appliance was $50 more than the MSRP.. I found stores that charge less than the MSRP which I now believe is what many stores do. I should have shopped around first. I don't like doing negative reviews. I have worked in the Service industry and was always bothered when negative reviews came through.... But, this time I feel it is justified. When our fridge stopped working, we called in the 'pros' after we couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. But, we asked that they order a thermostat and bring with them based on the research we had done, this seemed like our problem. It took 3.5 weeks for them to get the part because they had to order it from the factory.... ok, fine. We had to keep calling and there were "shipping delays". We finally got the repair guy out and he instantly calls my husband and says the good news is thermostat isn't our problem, it is the fan that circulates the fridge. The bad news is that GE was bought out by another company and they don't make this fan anymore. Our fridge is 4 years old and a top of the line fridge! So, we TRUSTED the 'pro' and went out and bought a new fridge. After weeks of not having working fridge we were ready to be done with the ordeal. Frustrated with GE, I decided to call and give a customer complaint. They said, we still make that fan, here is the part number, it is $120. This phone call took me less than 10 minutes! WHAT?! I had the part FROM THE FACTORY in less than 3 days. It took my husband 15 minutes to repair what is now the nicest garage fridge in Lane County! Not to mention, the grates on the back of the fridge were not screwed all the way back on, and wires were sticking out. We call Don's Maytag again about their findings and they tell us GE doesn't make the part. The Service Parts lady was horribly rude when we called in and had an attitude still insisting we didn't know what we were talking about after we had already gotten the part from GE and fixed the fridge ourselves. We asked to speak with the owner, but he didn't bother calling us back. He had the parts lady call us back and say "oops, that must have been an error, we will refund the $90 service call". REALLY, thanks for the $90. But, this doesn't really help the matter when we bought a new fridge for $2,300!!! The people that work for this company are not helpful, rude, and lazy!!! This was not an error on someone's part, they were lazy and dishonest. I will NEVER recommend this company to anyone I know. I had a technician from Don's Maytag come out to look at the defective monstrosity that I purchased from Hank's Appliances. After an improper installation by Hank's caused thousands of dollars of damages in my home, I decided I couldn't trust Hank's anymore and needed to find somebody else to help us out with the faulty machine. Don's was very polite and professional. The technician was helpful and examined the washer, explaining what he was doing as he did it. Even though I was paying for a diagnosis only (to have proof that the washer was broken, as Hank's has a bit of a lying problem), he ended up repairing the problem. It wasn't time-consuming, but it was still more than I expected, and that's the sort of thing that makes a difference. I highly recommend Don's Maytag for appliance repair. read more

Not happy with Don's Maytag service or appliances. They installed a freezer/refrigerator combination unit and a dishwasher. Getting the fridge and freezer measured and scheduled was a nightmare. It took them forever to schedule the install and when it was installed it was not leveled properly. I had to remove the unit and level the fridge and freezer myself. The super expensive aesthetic vent that goes around the unit was left installed very loosely. The dishwasher leaked and ruined the tile and subfloor around the unit. They did not have a problem not caring. This is after we spent $5000 + with them. We were told it was out of warranty one year and two weeks after it was installed, 9 months after we began using it. The owner is a grouchy cuss and his workers are following suit. Recommend you go to Oldfields. read more

I just had a repairman from Don's come out to fix my fridge. The phone service was incredibly polite and helpful and got a repairman out to my house faster than the other companies I called. They had to come out twice and both times, they were punctual, friendly, knowledgeable, and fixed the problem! I even had him check out my dryer while he was here and fixed that too within 20 minutes! The prices were fair and I would recommend them highly. Also, the repairman said they have a showroom too. I needed a washing machine part, I called dons and was told he can have the part next day. Told him to order the part and payed for it. I called the next day at the time he said they usually got there delivery's, he said he didn't see it come in, and would figure out where it was and call me back. Calls back and said that the part was 2 weeks out! I said that's not what he told me and that it doesn't work for me, he said that he would of never told me have told me that. Then said he didn't talk to me said he talked to my wife, which he has never talked to my wife ever.... and couldn't tell me her name! Lol I asked for a refund he got more agitated and said he would have to mail me a check, I said great mail it to me. He did, fairly fast too. Look at check and it was pay to the order of some cleaning company I have never heard of! I called got the same guy and he said that's who my wife said to pay it to! We called dons because our dishwasher wouldnt turn on and they came out the next day and said it was more than an electrical issue and to fix it would be close to $500 and then we might as well just get a new dishwasher. We were bummed but ready to take the next step. The next day they called us back and the guy who had helped us previously said he thought of one more thing he could have tried (he said it came to him in the middle of the night) and he came over and tried it. Sure enough he fixed out dishwasher and didn't charge us for parts or labor. We thanked him and said we'd purchase our next dishwasher with them because of his amazing and honest service! Very happy with my service, my dishwasher was making a terrible sound. I called and the repairman came out at the time they said they would. He thought it was the motor on initial inspection, but further digging showed that it was clogged with small chicken bones, which he cleared and it has been just fine since. What I thought would be around $400 minimum to a new dishwasher was $100. They could have easily ripped me off and I appreciate there honesty! These guys are great . After suffering thru the Big Box Store maze of intellectual hell, I remembered the folks at Don's, from whom I have purchased appliance repair parts in the past. And although I simply wentin to buy an inexpensive dryer, I confidently upgraded to a front loading washer/dryer combo at a fair price after they explained differences and all my options with no BS, and no sales pressure whatsoever. I hauled/installed it myself (it was on a Sat.) and had a loose wire that I had connected poorly that caused the heat to not function properly. Totally my fault, but they had a repairman there within 4 hrs. Up and running in minutes. They were professional and respectful the entire transaction. I own my own business, and I couldn't help but compare my own service to their performance, realizing that Don's sets the standard. The guy behind the counter didn't know much, and didn't want to help much either. He seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. They didn't stock the part I needed, and he wouldn't even tell me what the part number was. Getting anything out of him was like pulling teeth. I was reminded that I had been out there once before and found them difficult to work with. I decided to order the part from Maytag myself rather than have to drive all the way out there and deal with that attitude anymore. I'm probably paying more because of shipping, but at least I get the part delivered to my door in 2 days. Since they are the only Maytag place in town, I won't ever buy that brand again. Stay away from these bad business people. I called to make an appointment for my 2015 LG refrigerator - they said one week before they could get someone out here. Because of the good reviews, I decided to wait for them. I gave them the model number and all the specifics of my product and issue. One week later (after I called them to find out when my appointment was) they set a 3-5 pm window for arrival. Fifteen minutes later they call back and tell me they don't work on my model!!!!!! These folks helped me find a repair service that would deal with a built-in refrigerator and handle refrigerant if needed. They did not deal with either of these issues, but got me in touch with the Appliance Refrigeration Hospital, who are based in Portland and did the work once I got the refrigerator out of its cabinet. They have a presence in Eugene and do not charge for travel. It turned out, cleaning fixed the problem, and they did a good job. However, it was Don's that helped me make the connection. They were really caring! One person at Oldfieds's was helpful after the fact, but she was the only one that seemed to care. read more
