I visited this shop a few weeks ago with the intention of supporting a local business while purchasing a vacuum. I ended up speaking with one of the owners--and he sold me a Panasonic vacuum with replaceable bags. It felt a bit pricey, but I appreciated the 30-day trial policy he mentioned and was willing to give it a shot. After using it at home for about a week, I realized it wasn't the right fit for my space. The vacuum was quite heavy, and since I don't have carpet, the idea of constantly replacing bags seemed unnecessary. When I returned to exchange it, the guy was noticeably more frazzled and less friendly than before. I explained I was looking for something lighter, ideally bagless and possibly secondhand. He showed me a few options, but they felt outdated and still fairly bulky. We eventually landed on a lightly used Dyson cordless model, which was around half the price of the original vacuum. This is where the real frustration started: rather than issuing a straightforward refund, he first said he would cut a check--which surprised me, given the advertised 30-day trial policy. He then seemed unsure how to process the refund at all, referencing the invoices and appearing overwhelmed by the system. After some back and forth, he ran my card again, saying the receipt indicated a refund had been issued. But when I checked my bank account, it looked like I'd been charged a second time instead. I returned to the store and showed him the transaction. He remained convinced the refund had gone through, but after I insisted--firmly--that he contact technical support or else I'd need to involve my bank's fraud department, he finally got the system to process the refund correctly. It took about 45 minutes in-store, and the money hit my account 2-3 days later. In the end, everything was resolved, and I did leave with a vacuum I'm happy with. But this was a pricey transaction, and the whole experience felt more complicated and time-consuming than it should have been. I'm sure this store does good work with vacuum and sewing machine repairs, but based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend purchasing a new vacuum here unless they improve their return process and customer communication. read more

Our Shark stick vacuum stopped sucking and I brought it in for a fix. Josh examined it and the belt motor had melted. Note: Shark Vacuums don't sell parts even to repair shops. Very quick turnaround and he didn't charge me. I'll certainly do business with these folks again. And I'll never purchase a Shark again. read more

I needed some basic repairs done on my vacuum cleaning involving a crimped hose and a broken wand connection. The owner fixed both of these quickly and NO CHARGE. I highly recommend this place! read more

It turned out the vacuum needed more than just a belt replacement. They did replace the belt twice for free before acknowledging this to be the case, which was appreciated, and were friendly and professional every time. But in the end, they weren't able to repair my vacuum (a Kenmore- my bad on buying from Sears!). read more

Brought in my vacuum and the repair was a nice, quick fix. I was expecting to pay about $100, but it turned out to be $18.50. The repair person was pleasant and courteous an extremely knowledgable about my german machine. I would recommend this place to anybody who wants to maintain their vacuum. read more

I have done business with Twin Rivers Sew and Vac for several years and have been very happy. Recently I took my vacuum in for repair. The gentleman asked if I could wait a few minutes while he looked at it. He tightened a couple of screws at no charge. He did change the belt for $3. read more

My kids tried to be helpful and accidentally jammed a small attachment into an internal tube in my nearly new Shark vacuum. I fought with it for a week trying to unjam it myself. I finally broke down and brought it to another shop. I was told sharks were "unfixible". They offered to try for $35 and a three day turn around. They gave no guarantee that my vacuum would be salvageable. I brought it to Twin Rivers next. Josh met me at the counter, listened patiently to my stressed out saga and said, "give me a minute". I walked next door for a coffee, and when I returned my vacuum was fixed at no charge. The other gentleman in the shop even offered to try and reshape the mangled attachment. I had a wonderful experience with twin rivers today! Knowing nothing about them, I took my 20 year old Oreck vacuum in to hopefully get it a little more life out of it. I was asked if I ever thought about replacing it, Yes was my answer but couldn't afford it at this time. He was not pushy about buying anything. I told him what the problems were. After figuring out my vacuum was a hot mess, it sounded more feasible to buy a new one. I was stuck in a pickle. I needed a Vacuum to get me buy till I could afford a new one. He worked with me to figure out how he could make this happen for me. He was so generous, helpful and kind! when josh his assist opened the vacuum up he noticed we had much bigger issues than we thought. without hesitation they gathered used parts to piece it back together for me at a very affordable price and not charging me for one of the used parts that I needed but couldn't afford a new one. He so generously just found a used one that would get me by. He didn't need to do any of this. This is what makes a business stand out from the rest. Going above and beyond the call of duty and having a customer leave happy! That is exactly what happen to me! I called my husband right away and told him about how excited I was to get my vacuum fixed. It's the small things in life, but he made my day!! I was very surprised to read the other reviews and the experience they had. It was such a different experience for me! I would just like to say everybody has off days and deserves a second chance. I immediately disliked the salesman/repair man. His tone was pompous & when we asked a question he looked at us & responded in a tone that made us feel like he thought we were stupid for asking. I don't know much about vacuum mechanics or I wouldn't have brought it in! After telling us it was un fixable he tried to sell us a repurposed vacuum. We don't want another crappy vacuum, we'd just like to fix ours. After his young and fairly helpful associate showed us to a vacuum comparable to what we wanted, to which we said no thanks, he berated him slightly in front of is for not showing us a different vacuum & for not offering a better price. He really wanted us to buy one & was still trying to sell us something as we walked to the door. We are now trying someplace different & will not be going back. read more

Recently received POOR customer service from Twin Rivers Sew and Vac and will not go back! Here is a message I sent to them and received no response....not even an acknowledgement of receiving this message. "I purchased zcoils from you (I think it was the owner who waited on me) in December. They are great! I also purchased coil covers and about a month ago one split in two so several weeks back I returned. 1. the guy working didn't seem real interested in my problem but eventually sold and put on two new ones for $24.95. (I thought I paid $20 when I purchased the first ones. The ones I have have recently starting coming loose, while walking, on the inside of each. I walk about 4 mile a night in my job and now have to stop about every 5-10 minutes to put them back inside their tracks because they squeek when they come loose. 2. Tuesday March 22, I came by your store again and the younger guy was working. I explained the problem and that I needed the shoes each night because of all walking I do. Again he didn't seem very interested and said I would have to leave them because, he said; "I can't do anything right now each now because of the s**t I have to do." I said I could not do that because I need the shoes each night. He just looked and me saying nothing and so I left. Very disappointing....." Owner is a total jerk. I walked by the store and saw a piece of a tortilla on the sign out front, and because I thought an inconsiderate person had just left it there, and I didn't want my puppy to eat it, I picked it up and tossed it in a near by trash can. The owner then came rushing out the door yelling at me to not touch his sign. He ranted for a couple minutes about it and seems to have some serious anger management issues. Beware. read more
