I called around to several shops nobody responded, I drive a 2009 GMCSierra 1500 with 159,000 miles on the original transmission I've had it flushed every 60k but have never replaced the filter, Andy called me back from AAMCO transmission in Covina off arrow hwy he was very professional which sold me on the job, I asked. If I could see the magnet at the bottom of the pan, I was impressed for having that many miles on it very little materials were stuck to the magnet, we ended up this time around replacing the filter, pan gasket and 5 quarts of fluid, so far so good, I will definitely go back and see Andy for any transmission service or repair. Brought my car in because it would shake when I accelerated between 50 - 70 mph. Diagnosis took a few hours. Once they got the go ahead to work on my car, my car was ready the next day. Thank you Quinn at AAMCO Covina. Our 2014 Chevrolet Traverse had the transmission fail. I did purchase an extended warranty when I bought the car. Quinn, and his technicians did a wonderful job, as on these new front wheel drive GM cars, the whole front end needs to be removed. So I'm a first time customer here at Aamco. I had a few major leaks that needed a few days to repair. Before aamco started the work on my vehicle, I collaborated with my own family mechanic, after I gave him details & estimate, he said honestly Aamco is pretty much on point with the estimated price so I went ahead & gave service employee ERIC, the green light to start the job! Eric assured me if any other leaks occured, he'd take care of it at his descretion. So Eric did also find a radiator leak & he also changed the spark plugs at no extra cost!! Honestly the worse and most unethical place I had ever been too. Took my perfectly working truck in to get routine maintenance done. A transmission flush not rocket science right?!?! WRONG!!! these people wouldn't know a transmission for their dear life. I gave them the benefit of the doubt by walking in there after all they are supposed nationwide and reliable and all this bull crap they advertise. My truck now won't stay on... I turn it on and it's on for a few seconds and then shuts off... now I sit here at the dealer waiting for them to fix these people mistakes. After I called and let them know what was happening they still had the audacity to act undignified about me addressing the issue. Being Smart Alec about the whole issue. Came in for a slipping transmission diagnostic/rebuild on a Sienna 2011 for my mother. She had rebuilt this once after we had a bad experience at another shop that left us with a pretty bad transmission, so I took her here based on some of my research. I saw there was a change in ownership and Andy was the new owner. Andy was helpful from the start on the phone, got us a accurate diagnostic and quote within a few days. As someone who comes from a mechanical background in a different field, I also can appreciate that Andy took his time and made every effort to keep us informed and educated through the whole process. It didn't take long, Andy quoted a date and it was done on that date. During the 2 week break in period, we did have a small adjustment needed to be made under the warranty and Andy took care of that quickly and educated/informed us on what went wrong. Work orders and all invoices were accurate with info on what work was done, and any codes the car gave. Happy to say we'll be adding this to our conservative list of trusted shops for future needs! read more

Honestly, even writing this note irritates me and I feel like I wasted my time. I should have read the reviews of this place before taking in my Chevy Silverado truck for transmission repair, the guy at the front desk I think he is the owner his name is Randy he is a thief he stole $1750 charging for something not done. I took my truck in due to a jerking situation, I left it there for a week assuming that for those bucks my problem was going to be fix, after I left the shop that person called saying that there was no transmission problem on my truck, he liar to me saying that the opened the trans on inspected and replaced the fluid he also said that my radiator had a leak I replied go ahead and fix it.. To make a long and frustrating story the fixed the radiator and called me to go get my truck, as soon as I left the shop I called them to tell the that the jerking problem still going, when I got there the randy guy asked one the mechanics to do computer check the found a bad sensor, I told him didn't you find this issue before he replied no it didn't show, I asked how much more to fix it he said in order to fix it the cost was going to be an extra $4000 to rebuild my transmission, after of that to make sure his mechanic and I took a test drive and the mechanic commented to me, "that guy loves to get peoples money without doing nothing" we not even open the transmission to check, I feel bad putting the Mechanic on bad spot. I left the shop little upset and took my truck to get fix after fixing it at this other shop the mechanic asked me you drive a lot of miles right? I replied why? I can't say enough good stuff about this location of AAmco I took my Hummer there after it was maintained by what I thought was a trusted mechanic for years. I went to AAmco and they pointed out many different things that were incorrect, incorrectly installed and things that just weren't maintained on my Hummer. I kept wondering why I would take my car to the mechanic and would be back in a month for something else. They really took care of my Hummer. They also gave me discounts and were actually very helpful and stayed late one time just to check a light that came on on my Hummer. I trust them and I can say I think you should trust them also. Worst fucking experience I've ever had.... took my truck in to get transmission fixed, they replaced a bunch of sensors on the transmission told me the problem was my gauge and they couldn't find one for my truck, well it took me and dad less then 4 calls to find a guy who can fix my gauge, so we went to pick it up and come and be hold my dash is broken, missing bolts, and the truck is obviously not fixed. After wonderful ammco charged me $574 after having my truck for 2 weeks and getting it back in worst condition then when I left it, the gauge guy finds nothing wrong with my gauge, but that the wonderful guys at ammco just forgot to put a fuse back in the truck!!!! I'm not one to go out of my way to write up complaints unless needed, but this calls for it. 1) Cost From day 1, the manager, Jim, told us they are 30% cheaper than the dealership price with a free evaluation. We were very pleased with the things he had to say on the phone, so we decided to go ahead and have them work on my car. After they diagnosed it, found out it was an $800 charge, whereas Ford's price was $125. The price we got from Ford was about $4,000 for a new transmission including labor and all. Jim told us it would be between $1500-$2500. Later in the week, he changed his answer to $3800 for the final price. I couldn't take it to Ford where I would've rather taken it back to because I was apparently down $800 regardless, so we stayed with not much of a choice. 2) Rental/charge The first thing he told us was the rentals were free. Another time, told us only the $25 rental was free (a Fiat). We had the "upgraded" car that was $40 so he said he'd take off $25 off each day. Great! When I was picking up my car, I found out he had tacked on all the charges on top of the original price he gave us. The whole cost of this entire thing was about $4500. The "discounted" price should have been off the $3800 total that he gave us. He failed to provide us with those details. Not only was that inching toward one grand more than his original price, his quote of "30% cheaper than the dealership price" was invalid. 3) Timeframe/duration Day one, he told us it would be 3-5 days until I have my car back. We had it towed over there on Tuesday and told us they would call us Friday and again, changed his answer to 5-7 days. That following Monday, he calls and tells us that they barely took it apart and gave us the cost. He then told us it should be ready Wednesday. Wednesday comes and they test drove it and it jolted when changing gears so they had to work on it and would be ready Thursday. Thursday comes, nothing. Finally got my car back today (Saturday) with no communication in between. Overall, we will not be doing business with them again. We don't work with shady liars and will be contacting the headquarters about all of this. The lack of communication is very unprofessional. The fact that he tacked on money we weren't aware of is very unprofessional. We were taken advantage of and it ruined the entire company for us. I hope you're proud, Jim. read more

My issues with AAMCO have nothing to do with the quality of their repairs. They have everything to do with their level of customer service and overall professionalism - two words this AAMCO doesn't know the meaning of. Here is my saga: Tuesday, December 21 - I had previously arranged with AAMCO to overhaul my transmission, which was in need to new bearings, possibly new gears, and likely a new clutch. This is a ONE to TWO day repair. I call to tell them that instead of bringing my car in Wednesday as planned, I will bring it in Thursday. This would have been a good time for Robert to mention that AAMCO would be closed all of Friday for Christmas Eve, but he does not. Thursday, December 23 - I bring my car into AAMCO around 8 am. Around 4 pm, I call THEM to ask about the status. At this time they inform me that the car is not done, and that oh yes, they will be closed on Friday so I can't pick it up until Monday. I live 50 miles away from this AAMCO, and now I'm stuck. I ask Robert if I can get a rental car. He shrugs his shoulders and says, "It's the holidays, so they are all out." Thanks for the concern.... Monday, December 27 - I once again drive 50 miles to await the day I will finally get my car. Once again, I get a call in the late afternoon saying my car is not ready as a supplier brought the wrong clutch. Once again, I am stranded. Also, I tell Robert that I am going out of town Tues - Thurs and won't be able to pick up the car until Friday. He tells me this is fine. Thursday, December 30 - I get a message from Robert that I won't be able to pick up my car on Friday or Saturday because they will be closed for New Year's. Once again, thanks for the heads up. It would have been nice of him to offer to drop by for 5 minutes at an appointed time just so I could pick up the car, but no such luck. I don't get the message until Friday (as I was out of town.) Also, I had no way to contact them because they were closed. Monday, January 3 - After a week and a half, I finally pick up my car. I express my frustration and ask for a $200 discount. Robert says he the manager had given me a $100 discount, I asked to speak to the manager who said he could not do this "because he already priced the job too low." I'm sorry, but the face that YOU priced the job low has nothing to do with how much AAMCO screwed me over! I ask for him to talk to the owner about getting another $100 discount (also they had a coupon that had just begun to be offered for $100 off transmission service). I never heard back. All in all, I got a transmission rebuild (new bearings, 2 new gears, new clutch, and new synchros) for $1,400 which is in fact a good deal. But not worth the amount of trouble I went through dealing with AAMCO. If you're looking for a friendly, honest shop in the area, I would recommend Glendora Import Specialists. read more

My hybrid ac broke down and took it here to get fixed. Would I ever come back or reccomend, NEVER. First, he gave me a couple of different prices for the cost of the ac compressor unit. Of course it ended up being the most expensive one. He tried to get the part from the dealers, and when he was told it was back ordered, went to another vendor he knows to get it. What he neglected to inform me was he had to overnight to get it the next day. $200 charge. If you're going to make an executive decision with my money, you'd better ask me first and not make it before. Of course he ate that cost. Then says it'll be ready Friday after 1pm. The car has been there since Wednesday morning. I couldn't get it Friday but showed up Saturday morning 40 minutes after they've opened. Where was my car? Inside the shop on the lift. Wait, what? Why is it still being worked on still when you called on Friday and said it will be ready at 1pm the day before. Has all the stories lined up; "it's a hybrid and I don't really know it. It's a learning curve for me. X Y Z and blah blah blah." Very apologetic about it and says he'll make sure to have it completed, even if he has to stay after closing to do it, they close at 12pm on Saturday. We show up at 11:40 am to see if it was ready. It was. Did we get a call, nope. It's sitting outside like it should have been 3 hours ago when we initially came to get the car. My points here are. If you are going to accept the job, be honest that you don't know how to fix it and need time. I'm understanding, I get it, but don't try to play me as a fool and lie about things. Yes, it's a business and you're trying to fix other cars too. But if you call to say the car is ready, it better be. Again, I would not recommend or ever go back. Find another trustworthy place. I'd wish there was a negative to give it but 1 star wil have to do. read more

He went out of his way to answer my questions and concerns and even questions I had that didn't even regard to the work being done. When i inspected the work they even went above and beyond a trans service ( I have an aftermarket intake that had a hose without a hose clamp that i needed and they put one on for me). Was in the area while visiting from Isla Vista and my check engine light came on. Sam helped me out and fixed my transmission for a reasonable price. For whatever reason, this location quoted a much lower price ($400 less) than the AAMCO in Monrovia. They also diagnosed a coolant leak problem in my '96 Lincoln which they recommended I get fixed in the near future, so I will be back again soon. The last oil change I got was from here as well, and the whole process was a lot easier than when I previously went to the Jiffy Lube down the street. read more
