I needed a park neutral position safety switch replaced on my 2000 4Runner. The Toyota dealer estimate was suspiciously and outrageously high so I shopped around and found Art's Transmission down the road. Art is friendly, experienced, and his instant familiarity with the error code made me confident he could complete the job. And the total repair cost was a (tiny) fraction of the dealership estimate. Art mentioned the job was a little more complicated than he first thought but he still only charged his original estimate because that is how he operates. Uncommon and refreshing ethic. I am sick and tired of the dealership's practice of charging $199 to diagnose a check engine light. Even though they would apply that $199 to the repair job if I opted to have them complete the repair, I wrote it off and still came out WAY AHEAD by taking the vehicle to Art's instead. read more

This review is MONTHS overdue. I was referred to Arts Transmission by a close friend and coworker, and I'm so grateful I was. I had taken my 2012 Camry to three different shops for a torque converter issue (a known problem with my model year). Every shop told me I needed a whole new transmission and quoted me over $6,000. I had only had this car a couple months and it was lurching forward when accelerating. As a woman, it's hard not to feel like you're being taken advantage of in these situations. Art and his crew genuinely care about customer service, he's honest and knowledgeable. I took my Ford F-150, it had a leak, luckily he diagnosed it was from the cooler hoses to the transmission. Within 24 hours it was fixed and running smoothly, he even fixed a few other things while it was on the lift. I would have paid far more at any other shop, unfortunately women are often marks of the industry. I cannot recommend Art's Transmission strongly enough. I came to Art's to deal with an OBD code indicating a transmission issue. After assessing it, Art was upfront and honest, telling me that the problem was a money sink that was best dealt with by rebuilding the entire transmission, which would cost more than the car was worth. On top of that, he pointed out an issue with the air conditioner (not even a transmission issue!) that would cost me even more to address, and which was a bigger problem. In short, Art told me that it made more sense to replace the car than to pay him to fix it. He wouldn't even accept a little money for that incredibly valuable assessment, so I didn't pay him a dime. He's extremely skilled and knowledgeable, and also shows incredible honesty and integrity. And while I didn't pay him for this visit, I'll certainly be a customer for life. read more

Don't ever take your transmission to arts shop. He does not live by his word. My transmission was not working when he gave it back to me. I took it back three times couldn't fix it. Come to find out there's a guy that was working on it that explains everything. After paying him 10,000 to fix my transmission, I had to go to another transmission shop to get it done right paid another 8000. Please do not send your car to Art's Transmission in Glendora. The thing about this whole situation. What bothers me the most is the car was not mine. I recommended art to my son. My thing is if you can't handle the job, don't take it on end of story. read more

I have an 2003 Explorer that was giving me problems. I was reffered to Art's by a friend who has used him for years. Art will talk to you like a human being and is supposedly knowledgeable about all transmissions cause he's done them for years. As everyone knows; transmission repairs are costly, but he has competitive prices. Plus, he backs his work with a good warranty! Give them a call, what could it hurt? UPDATE months later I've had to take my car back to him four times so far. I keep taking it back because it's warrantied but it's messed up again so I'll give him one more shot cause I can't afford to pay someone else yet... UPDATE #2 Just got my car back after taking it back under warranty for the FIFTH TIME. He had my car for over 6 weeks and I drove less than twenty-five miles before my car was lurching, revving high and slamming into gear again. Warranties are good if you can actually fix the problem.... UPDATE #3 Art stuck with it! After having so many problems and replacing nearly everything that could be replaced he finally built me an entire transmission. Turns out that my old Trans case had a crack in it and when it heated up it opened up and bled out pressure causing all the problems. From what I understand the cracked case thing happens like 1 in 10,000. I highly recommend Art because he WILL get it fixed and figure it out!! read more

My car's transmission was giving me trouble (taking too long to shift) so I stopped by Art's late on a Saturday afternoon to make an appointment. Art was about to call it a day, but he took the vehicle for a test drive to see if he could replicate the problem. The car ran like a charm, so he suggested that I return on Monday so he could check it out. I did so, and he called later that day to say he had inspected the transmission but could find no problems, and he explained what might be the issue (nothing to repair, but something to watch for). I asked how much I owed. Zero, he said. I would have gladly paid for the checkup, but he declined. ... He has won a customer for life, though I told him I hoped it would be a while before I saw him again. :-) ... Art is friendly and honest, and he knows his stuff. Art is an excellent technician, who stands behind his work. I took my Honda to him over a year ago for a complete transmission overhaul, not only did he walk me threw what needed to be done step by step, he pulled out a similar transmission and opened it up to show me exactly what he was going to replace down to the last nut and bolt. this guy is beyond honest if that's even possible, when I first walked in to his shop I was thinking that I was going to have to do my transmission mounts too because before I went and saw art I took my car to aamco and they told me I needed to replace them but then art took me under the car and showed me them and told me that those guys at aamco are conartists because my mounts were perfectly fine, I was really happy because he saved me a few hundred dollars, and the best part is that after a year and 20,000 miles later, it still runs like the day I got it back from him . he gives a 1 year warranty standard on all his transmission rebuilds, and even offers extend warranty's for a little extra. I recently found out that he is doing all automotive work now and not just transmissions, so I will be taking my car to him for everything. his prices are so reasonable that you would have to be a fool to not go see him before you do anything on your car. I just cant say enough good things about this guy, hes the best , and an A+ in my book. read more
