Awesome family run business; so glad someone recommended this place! Brought in an older jeep that couldn't pass smog. Front office girl was extremely nice and told us everything that we needed to do since our tags were expired. Johnny's performed an all day diagnosis and reset something that 2 other mechanics failed to do. Smog passed the next day without issue! Wonderful experience at Johnny's! As a first time car owner, I was pretty lost in all the car maintenance talk. Chris made the process incredibly easy. I got an appointment the same day I called, got an oil change with a free 59 point inspection, and got a text within a couple of hours after with the results. The only extra thing I needed was a tire rotation which I suspected. No annoying upselling! I even had a large scratch on the side of my car that they didn't even try sales-talking me into getting repaired. The staff at Johnny's seem honest, fair, and feel like family. My 2002 Chevrolet Suburban could not be smog tested due to an evaporative emission control system problem. The check engine light would always come on the dashboard. I took it to Covina Hills Chevrolet on Citrus Ave for repair at the recommendation of a mechanic I frequently patronize. The dealership was horrible. They had my vehicle for approximately 40 days,off and on over a two month period. They replaced a sensor, but the check engine light would always come back on. They had no answers and said their technicians could not figure out the issue. I finally abandoned any hope they possibly knew what they were doing. So I looked around and found Johnny's, who specialize in Chevrolet vehicles. Byron promised he would find the issue and get my vehicle fixed. Boy, was he right. He had my vehicle repaired and back to me the next day. It passed a smog without any problems and the check engine light has not come back on. Trust me when I say he knew what he was doing. In one day he did what the incompetent dealership mechanics could not figure out. I will definitely be back to Johnny's for any future vehicle issues. I am someone who is skeptical of auto repair shops. A flyer brought me here. I was able to get the service I needed scheduled. I got there for my appointment and was greeted and offered options. The timeline was met as told. They seemed to have sufficient spaces for working on the vehicles and there was plenty of space to park nearby or to get in or out. The place appeared overall well maintained which to me says they like to be clean and tidy. All in all a very pleasant experience and I will be back. Called and a female answered asked about sensor reset which I've had done on my car before due to the battery dying just didn't want to drive out to where I got it done figured I get it done locally. Her response was it can only be done by the dealer which is absolutely false. She should of said "we recommend " taking it to the dealer. At least provide the correct info to your customers. We have been bringing our cars here since our car dealer's service warranty ran out. We plan to drive our cars until we no longer can, and Johnny's is the auto repair shop where we plan on doing our ongoing maintenance, as they are fair, and they do excellent work. Shanna always explains the work that needs to be done, and she gives us clear estimates, in case we want to shop around. We have found their prices to be reasonable, and they don't cut corners. I know sometimes people want the cheap way out, but Shanna will refuse to do the work if it means endangering her customers. It is the way I treat my customers, and it's the way I would expect anyone to treat their customers. In the long run, it's the best way to do business. The way I see it, if you're going to drive, then you need to be willing to pay what it's worth to have car properly maintained. read more

BEWARE! I believe these guys are crooks. We took our Taurus in because it had a blown head gasket. They gave us an estimate of $2500 (ouch) to fix it, my whole tax return, I checked around and found out that's about the rate although towards the high end. So we agreed and they asked for a $1200 deposit and we'll pay the rest when the job is done. Well a couple days later they said there was a problem and said it would be an additional $1400, raising the total to $3900 (wtf!), which I don't have and wouldn't pay that much if I did. Of course they said the $1200 I gave them was used in costs already. So they took $1200 from me and gave me back a car in worse condition than when I brought it in. I definitely will be notifying the better business bureau. read more

I don't recommend this shop. I'm from out of town and my starter went bad. It happened at night so I left a note saying just to replace starter. When I came to get my car they charged me for visual inspection $56.00 I did not ask for this. A starter they charged me $188.00 for a Chevy cavalier plus the labor. Over $300 To replace a starter . A starter cost @ $50.00 average with a good warranty not just for 1 year.Yes, this place is a ripoff, do your wallet a favor and go elsewhere. Our family has been taking our vehicles to Johnny's for the past few years, since moving into the area. Johnny's is always very professional and diagnoses the problem with our vehicles very quickly. Most recently, this month, we took in our older model Scion and had it serviced for noises coming from the engine at time of ignition (in the early morning). Johnny's was able to find the source of the issue and addressed the problem (tightening of timing belts). In addition, they changed the spark plugs and did an oil change, all for a reasonable price. They may do decent work but they pride themselves on being rude to you and gouging you on the cost for parts. oh, and dont find the parts for less money, because they will lie to you all the way to the bank. i.e. my part was over 1000$ through them. I got it, same quality part for 600$. Got a bs. story about insurance and its impossible to have a business or make a prophet in California. Beware, this guy just wants to take your money! Had my car towed there as a recommendation of AAA because my car wouldn't start. Johnny's called to ask if they could do an inspection. I said yes. I was charged $250 to inspect the car. Johnny's recommend a new battery. I didn't buy his battery because he wanted another $250 bucks. I brought my own battery and was charged for him to swap them out. This guy is a rip off. $250 buck to tell me I need a new battery in my opinion is a rip off. read more
