The communication regarding policy is almost zero to none. When someone is looking at replacing a transmission, know that they'll not work with you if you're common folk like myself. They say they have financing but financing can double the price of the work with zero work around. They do have a storage fee that they'll fail to mention and won't release your car even if they just did a diagnostic (I have the recording.) It's cheaper to uber it until you can get a car under 5k. took my car to them for a check engine light. They said it would be $3400.00 dollars to fix my car. picked it up six days after they said it would be ready drove it home less than 2 miles parked it that was on Monday 1/5/26 took it to work that Friday check engine light came on as i was leaving my neighborhood got to work at 6:15 am waited until noon checked the oil and they had overfilled it called they asked me to bring it back and they would take a look at it. called me two days later and said that i needed a new engine because my timing belt had been cracking and now there is debris clogging my oil pump and they had told me that when they did the valve cove gaskets. but they had not said anything to me about the timing chain or i would of either had it done when i was already paying them $3400.00 or said no the car is not worth that. i told the manager that no one said anything about a timing chain and asked about the oil being over full he said it was fine and asked if i could prove they did that. i could not and did not think of taking pictures as i thought i was dealing with a repudiable company. was told a new engine would be $2100.00 plus labor. they call their selves AAMCO they should be called SCAMCO. would never recommend to anyone and will actively tell anyone who will listen to stay away. not a good company. read more

Very happy with this AAMCO. I took in an older vehicle where another local repair shop had badly overlooked some much needed repairs. AAMCO was able to get my vehicle back to great running condition, the likes of which I never saw from the other guys. Starts and runs smooth, even though I've got some more repairs to complete, and the price was just a tad on the lower end of what I would have expected for such repairs. Had it back to me in a few days. Stephen took the time to actually show me the problem and demonstrate how the solution would fix the symptoms I was feeling while driving which is so much better than blindly trusting a random mechanic's word on what is going on under the hood. Amy was also really helpful being very conscientious about the timing of the fix and me needing to get to work. Will definitely be back. read more

This aamco branch is a complete ripoff I took my car in and they told me that I would need a full transmission rebuild somewhere in the neighborhood of $5500 to $6000 on my car that has 20000 miles. They said I had overheated all my components, that I needed several new parts and that my clutch was gone as well. I then took it to another transmission shop and all that was wrong with my vehicle was that my transmission filter had fallen apart. No more than a $300 fix. I dealt with Liz during this experience. I highly recommend not going to this location as they try to rip you off. If I could give them a zero out of five starts I would. read more

If I could rate 0 stars I would. Liz was absolutely horrible to work with. Took my car in the get the alternator replaced and they tried to charge a 50% premium to buy the part through them. I supplied my own and Liz accused me of trying to scam them due to an error between the shop and O'reilly's the alternator that they installed has gone out twice since they've worked on it and Liz suggests that it is my fault for not purchasing a part through them. After personally accusing me of scamming them she then proceeded to suggest I call corporate and then hang up on me. Will never bring any of our vehicles to this location again and I will be making that suggested call to corporate. Would've been better off watching a Youtube video and fixing it myself. read more

I've taken my car here for a few big ticket items like the transmission being blown and have had my share of experiences. To start the only person I've found to be any help has been Emran. When I took it in for the transmission there were a few other things I needed done and Emran worked with me and the pricing as I'm a full time college student and don't quite have an amazing budget. Emran couldn't have been more helpful. Yet I got the car back and it was running smoothly, but I was missing a part from the car itself. I reached out a few times to no help and after about a month I finally got some assistance saying they would discount any other work I needed. Now I've taken the car in for a fuel pressure issue and I'm getting talked down to by the techs. However they didn't know that I put the engine in myself and I know my car inside and out. Slightly frustrating, they then tried to quote me 3,500$ to do injectors which is a joke and said they needed to code them in (they don't) and tried to make it seem as tho there was more labor involved than needed. I immediately asked to speak to Emran and he was more than happy to help me out and go over everything with me. This man is a life saver. The only reason they're getting the ratings they are is because of other staff and techs. Emran is amazing and I only have good things to say about him. read more

We reschedule for 9am Tuesday and when I arrive he again tells me he doesn't have room for me and he doesn't even know when he will. They didn't even call me! I had to drive down both times just to get turned away! What is the point of making an appointment when they let other people just show up and take my place without even calling? I dropped by the Aamco store on Southern avenue in Tempe on 1/26/18 to have the brake pads replaced on my 2015 Jeep. I had a coupon and felt that the $129 per axle was a fair price. They took my vehicle for a test ride and determined that the brake pads still had a lot more life left in them. It would have been easy for them to replace the brake pads anyway and I would have been now the wiser. But this is what made the experience different, Tom Schuldner, the store manager went out of his way to let me know that the brake pads had a lot of life left in them. While I decided to not get work done to my car, I can say that I would trust aamco to service my needs for my car in the future. Patrick took the time to walk me through the diagnostics of my vehicle. He was informative, respectful, and honest. If something was not worth repairing (which was the case for me), he told me! Instead of trying to milk money from me, he was upfront in weighing the value of the work needing done to my car. He even let my car stay on their lot for an entire week without charging me as I decided what I wanted to do. Although aamco is typically pricier than the other shops in Tempe, they guarantee their work. That's worth the extra $100 you'll spend here! Unfortunately this location has yet to find the true source of the leak in my A/C. Exactly 2 weeks to the day that the leak was "found" and repaired, Freon is completely empty again. It is looking more and more as though someone at Aamco, either in Gilbert or Tempe, did some damage during the initial compressor installation in March or the multitude of times they attempted to find and fix the Freon leak thereafter. My next step will be legal action. read more

I took my car to them because I had taken it to Midas and they did NOTHING but cause me more stress on top of charging me almost $4000 to not fix the problem with my car which I made completely clear the second I walked through the door. Took it to Aamco, told them what my car was doing, they checked it out, told me it was my engine. Same day called me back with a price of how much it would cost to fix it, and told me it would be ready in 2 days. Amazing customer service, great turnaround time and very reliable staff. They did a recharge on my AC system in May, 2018, charging $135.18. They apparently did not notice a what they said was a leak in the condenser prior to doing the recharge. A waste of service, resources, and money. But that is apparently just fine for them to "see what happens". After speaking with the corporate office and submitting a complaint, I have come to the conclusion I will not be using AAMCO because there is just no point. The manager responded to my Google review and the comment was laughable because a competent mechanic was able diagnose my problem without a recharge. He used a vacuum leak detector to see if the system remained pressurized. By the way, Tom, my A/C condesor DID NOT have a hairline fracture that was causing the leak but it was some how missing the screw. You mention you had to evacuate the system, right? Make sure you put all parts back, including bumpers. Hopefully people will read reviews and not give into desperation due to the looming 100+°F weather and read through your other horrible reviews that showcase you attempting to be a legitimate mechanic. Honestly, you are a disgrace and hold up the stereotype that auto shops just take advantage of people. read more

Tempe AAMCO is the worst!!! Even 1 star is too many. My a/c system including compressor was replaced under warranty 53 weeks ago at this store. I ultimately found out (at a Firestone Store) that AAMCO Tempe installed the compressor with only 2 of the 3 required bolts. As a result, the compressor vibrated itself to an early demise with only about 2500 miles since the work was done. Now the store is "under new management". No, they would not honor the repair under warranty because I was in the 53rd week of the 12 month warranty. The new owner agreed to supply new parts if I would pay for the labor under purchase of a new system. Now let me introduce Tom, he is the new store manager. I received the worst customer service I have ever received from any person for any service I have ever had in my entire life. I agreed to the terms the new owner specified (only because I could not get this service cheaper anywhere else) only if I would receive a new 12mo./12k mile warranty on all parts and labor. At first Tom said no. I was about to leave and he changed his mind and agreed to a full warranty. Tom looked at my original service order and said I was over charged for the previous labor charges and that he would charge less for the current work (labor only). I agreed and left my car the morning of Friday 7/20/18 with a commitment by Tom to finish the car the following day. I called on Saturday, Tom said the car was nearly finished and I should come pick it up. Before I paid him by phone, I asked him to specify the full warranty on the service ticket. Now, he again said he can not provide a warranty because I am only paying for labor. I argued that we had already agreed to the terms of the warranty before the work started. He then said he would have to call the owner to get permission for the warranty. I asked, if that was necessary wouldn't that have been appropriate before the work was done. He then agreed to specify the full warranty on the service ticket. After I paid by phone because the car was done, he called me back and said the car would not be ready as the "brand new" compressor was defective. And, yes, he over charged me. Yes the labor charges he made me pay were in excess of what he previously agreed to. Yes, I needed my car back so what choice did I have at the time. This guy is a total con man. He called me on Monday, 7/23/18 and said my car was ready. I informed him I wanted to revisit the labor charges on the ticket when I went to pickup the car. When I went there I was in disbelief. Not only did he charge me $89.95 for PARTS (yes, I was only suppose to pay for labor) in addition to the labor charges, he did not specify the full warranty on the service ticket but instead specified only a partial warranty. Yes I argued about it AGAIN and he finally changed it. This guy is really rude, a total jerk and con man. I also had to beg him to sign the service ticket that certifies the repairs were properly performed and restored to sound working condition as he was reluctant to sign it. I wonder if the new management knows who they have running the store. Beware, the trendy phrase, "under new management" does not mean things have changed or anything has improved. I have since visited another AAMCO (Henderson, NV) under warranty and got great service. Why did I have to do this? Because in only a few days after receiving this a/c service at AAMCO Tempe, my a/c was not working properly due to poor workmanship. Yes, they sent me out of the store with a freon leak. No wonder Tom did not want to certify my car was fixed properly. This place will never last. Any doubts that what appears in this statement could not be possible. I have tape recordings and service statements. I invite the owner of AAMCO Tempe or ATI to contact me by phone. BTW, don't be fooled by the hand picked reviews that the store has posted on their website. These reviews have no dates associated with them and there is know way to post a review there. I wish I could give this place zero stars. Don't ever go there. Warning. It's a legitimate scam. The employee tried to get me to pay over 1400 for something that was solved with a transmission flush. On top of that, when they test drove my vehicle, it was gone for about 40 mins. They traveled at least 15 miles because I made sure to write down my mileage before i got out. They're such snakes that when I went back in to drive my car the trip meter was off ( I left it on before I got out) and the normal mileage odometer was pulled up. On Friday, Feb 16th, 2018- I called AAMCO and spoke with Tom at 3:45 PM and asked him about pricing. I told him that AAA had my car at a repair shop and that they were going to charge me $2400.00 to fix the transmission. Tom told me that AAA does not specialize in transmissions and that he could do better with the price and rebuild the transmission. Tom told me that the transmission that AAA was going to give me was from a junkyard and did not come with a warranty. Tom assured me that AAMCO would find the problem and fix it for lower than the price that AAA was offering. Tom told me that the tow and inspection of transmission to diagnose the problem would be free. Saturday, Feb 17th, 2018- I called Tom at 9:04 AM before the car was towed to AAMCO. I asked Tom about the pricing and if he was certain that he could get the price around what AAA had offered ($2400.00). Tom told me that I would hear from him on Tuesday after he had done the inspection to find out the exact problem. He asked me for the last four digits of my Social Security number as if he needed it for identification before completing the tow. There was no mention of a fee for an inspection or a fee for towing. Tuesday, Feb 20, 2018- I called AAMCO at 3:40 PM because I had not heard from Tom about the car. He rushed off of the phone and told me that he would call me the next day with a report on the transmission. There was no mention of a fee for inspection or towing. Wednesday, Feb 21, 2018- I called AAMCO at 4:41 PM and Tom told me that there was corrosion that had caused problems with the pressure values in the transmission unit. Tom stated that it would cost me $3000 to have the car fixed. I told him that I did not want to have the car fixed at that price. There was no mention of an $850.00 fee during this phone conversation. I asked Tom to email me a copy of the invoice for the work that he was proposing. He sent me a document with fees that I had never seen or agreed to. He put the last four of my social security and the letter CL next on the invoice as if I had authorized this work to be done. The invoice has a date of Feb 17, 2018, 10:01 PM. The inspection was not completed until Wednesday, Feb 21, 2018. That means that this invoice was prepared before the car was towed to Tom's AAMCO location and before the transmission was inspected. I trusted that AAMCO was going to help me out with solving my transmission issues. I feel deceived and lied to about the service that I received at AAMCO. I never signed anything with AAMCO. Tom has refused to release my car for the last two weeks. He is trying to extort me for $1000. He says that he will not release my car without me paying an $850.00 fee for the transmission inspection. He has also added a $69.00 fee for towing. He has also threatened to charge a storage fee for keeping the car despite the fact that he does not want to release it. I do not trust AAMCO to fix my car and feel that they have completely destroyed my transmission and may have done additional damage to my car. As a result of my transmission being removed, the car is not drivable and now I do not have a vehicle to get back and forth to work. read more

We have a 2009 Nissan Murano that wasn't running well. We had a complete tuneup done for over $550 but there was still a problem. We then had a sensor replaced for $250 and this still did not fix the problem. We were told we needed a new transmission and so we brought it to this AAMCO. We paid close to $4000.00 and when we went to get the car.. it wouldn't even run. They said it was because of a sensor that was replaced at a different shop.0ur car had to be towed to the previous shop where they said AAMCO damaged a different sensor and that is why it wouldn't run. The manager was screaming at my husband and we as the customer are baffled we spent all this money and our car is being towed out of the place. Horrible customer service and then when my daughter went back to get the car... the Mgr was telling her how awful her dad was. Never go here!!!!! read more

Do not use AAMCO! I heard so many horror stories of people getting repairs here, one from a guy who ended up sinking his truck in a lake after a repair at this exact shop! I have an 06 Honda S2000 and got my car towed here for a new clutch since it was the closest shop. They even comped the tow charge. I thought all was well, they set me up with a payment plan for this 1800$ repair and I had my car the next afternoon. I picked up my car and drove it about 20 miles and the clutch got stuck to the floorboard and wouldn't budge. So I paid out of pocket to get it towed back to be fixed. They "fixed" it in a few hours of them opening and that should have been suspicious since you have to drop the whole transmission out of my car to reach the clutch. They said it was driving fine etc etc. I knew it felt a little weird and just assumed I had to break it in. But as time has gone on and I went over my warranty mileage allowance (by only a few hundred miles) it is totally broken. My clutch makes terrible noises, gear 3 grinds insanely bad every time I shift, and I have been told I need a whole new clutch which will cost me thousands more. Don't waste your time at this shop, it is privately owned and their corporate won't do anything to help you. Worst car repair experience ever. Highly inconvenient and they admitted no fault or concerns either time I picked up my car. read more

Shop Around before you get anything done here. This place is a snake pit! I had a great experience at the Glendale location last year so I decided to give this place a shot since I now live closer to this one. I brought my car early in the morning to figure out what a sound coming from my front wheel well was. I was pretty sure I had a bad strut but it sounded like more than that. After I left my car there literally all day(I was told they would call once it was on the lift and I never got a call) I called them shortly before closing only to find out I had a bad strut.(Duh) This is where it gets bad. The guy tells me I need struts and my brake caliper slide pins need to be greased. The slide pins was a lie to attempt to pad the ticket. My brakes were fine. I was not even offered to get new pads or get my rotors resurfaced( would have made sense to just do a brake job if you're already taking it apart to grease them), he wanted me to pay him 180 dollars to grease my brakes. What an upsell! This was a couple weeks ago, I waited to post until after I verified that my brakes are greased and in perfect order. This guy never even looked at my car. They tried to bullsh** me into paying 1000 dollars for two struts by making up some garbage about my brakes. I feel as for any trusting person that wanders in here. read more
