I've been a member of AAA for many years. When I was told you can register your vehicle with AAA in California I wanted to take advantage of that. On a Saturday I went in to take care of that. They were polite and then told me they don't do it on Saturdays, only Monday through Friday 10-4. Okay. I go back during those hours, one person waiting, and tell them I want to register my car from out of state. I was told that because it had rained and the ground was mildly wet the employee couldn't go outside to check my VIN and complete my registration. This is the most asinine thing I have ever heard and also dishonest. I completed my registration same day, same weather at AAA in Oakland. Lazy, dishonest employees at the Alameda location. Brenda Glover was very helpful and knowledgeable. She upgraded us to a higher plan and walked us through the whole process. She also added my husband. We are in the renewal stage so it was cheaper. She also politely ( not pushy ) mentioned to us about a new thing they are doing with home security at an affordable price. So we are looking forward to being reached by that person. I purchased a membership and needed to get a duplicate title. I sent my son who is also a member with the same name and completed document. I have completed numerous transactions at DMV and have not ever ask for my ID to transact business for myself or on anyone's behalf even when registering my son in laws car. Triple AAA hasn't changed in 20 something years still terrible service and rude customer service. I'll cancel my membership and go to All-State. The manager said to go ahead and go wait at DMV for 4 hours so I will because at least it will get done and I didn't have to pay $200 for a membership. AAA Alameda Landing is a brand new location! White glove service all the way. Free wi fi, free coffee (or hot chocolate) no more waiting in line for DMV. WOW, if it's really busy you can go shop and they text you to let you know it's almost your turn! The travel agent is amazing. I don't usually get this kind of service unless I am at Nordstroms or Saks! Love this new full service location. Its right outside of the Posey Tube in ALameda. I know things are different with Covid restrictions and I had no problem waiting outside, but this office didn't adhere to their own policy by stating to wait outside someone will be with you shortly. I stood outside, no one came out. I see employees sitting inside with no customers and one guy standing with a clipboard. Why didn't he come out and get my name? Ask why I was there? Tell me how long of a wait time? I got nothing! The other guy standing outside was already fuming, saying they don't know what they are doing and they are rude. Another lady that came after me knocked on the door, they opened it, couldn't hear the conversation, they took her name and she walking around the parking lot with her husband. I assumed she got her name put in for an appointment. I'm a busy person too. Why post a note telling me to wait, Hefner it should have said, knock on door to put your name in. The guy with the clipboard needs to keep an eye on the people outside and accommodate them accordingly. He did not! I left that office without anyone inside ever coming out to talk to me. I'm upset. Will I go back there? Probably not. Will I remain with Triple AAA? Having my doubts to say the least! Covid is hard on everyone. Show some compassion and understanding for your customers. read more

Can I give a NO STAR rating. I had the worst experience with AAA and it's sub contractor Micki's Towing this morning. Who ever the nameless tow driver (because he didn't introduce himself or have a name badge on) was didn't even wLk down the driveway to see what the problem was before getting back into his truck and driving off...without giving me any next steps or follow up. I then had to call AAA back and review this negative experience and put in a request for a second tow. 3 calls and another hour later I get a call from AAA dispatch saying that in at most another 45 minutes, another company will come out to assess if they can tow the car. It's a car with 1 flat tire parked in the driveway at my house!....what are you good for "Roadside?" AAA needs some.serious regrouping and training or "real" tow truck drivers. My Grandmother just made 89 yrs old and she'd be a better rep. read more

Eh. Lackadaisical service at best. The larger woman at the registration desk was so unenthusiastic and robotic. No greeting, thank you, or have a good day. Pretty lame. The only reason I was able to get out so quickly because no one was in front of me in line. I can't imagine how long these folks would take if there were people in front of me. Also, the parking lot is small and it's difficult to find parking. People drive like maniacs in this plaza too. As I was readjusting my car while parking, a car came racing down the ramp and honked at me. And when I was leaving, a truck blocked my path to let his buddies out and took his sweet time to make room after I had my reverse lights on. It's really not worth coming to. read more

Today was our first time visiting this location, all we needed was a few maps, how can anyone mess that up?! The woman sitting behind the counter looked at us like we weren't even worth speaking to, I worked with the public for over 30 years, and I know what is required. Unfortunately my vehicle broke down this morning but I realized I was only 2 blocks away from the neighborhood AAA office so I hoofed it over there in the cold and the rain. Not too bad. I arrived at 8:18 am. The place officially opens at 8:30. Fine. There is a pleasant waiting area just inside the doors with chairs and a tv on. Perhaps I could just come in out of the cold and rain (did I mention it was cold and raining?) and wait for the next 12 minutes or so until that magical opening time arrives. So I tapped ever so gently (very Poe like) on the office door. A gentleman across the room looked up and, even with my rudimentary lip reading skills limited to profanities yelled in frustration by baseball players in the heat of battle, I made out the words, "We're not open yet." Ah yes, it's now 8:20. Perhaps, you sir, could come over and inquire as to my problem. I assure you I'm not here this early (in the cold and rain, mind you) to pick up a map or some friendly road advice. To no avail. I cool my heels for a few more minutes (the awaited half hour is approaching slowing but surely). I then see a young woman heading in my direction obviously heading to work. Cutting it a bit close there, eh. It's now 8:22. But no matter, now is my chance to plead my case face to face with an actual AAA employee! "Hi, my car broke down 2 blocks from here and I was wondering..." "We're not open. I can't let you in or I'll be fired." "What? I mean, well, my car broke down 2..." "I can't let you in or I'll be fired," she repeats and proceeds to enter the code for the door and goes inside. "I see," I said to the closed door. It is now 8:25. I waited the next five minutes in the cold and rain, as I believe I've mentioned the inclemency of the weather before. Huh, what a curious response. Why would someone get fired for helping a customer? Sure, it's five minutes before opening time but still, seems a tad harsh to me. 8:30 comes and (like the clockwork I suppose it is) I hear a satisfying automated click. AAA is now officially open! Another lady comes and uses a key to open the other half of the double door and swings it open. "Can I help you?" I walk into the office without saying a word. For some reason I find myself in a very ill tempered mood and find it difficult to say anything at the moment. She begins to look concerned. "Um, is there something I can help you with?" I manage to mumble my sad and short story. "Oh, ok, the phone's over there." "What?" "You can use the phone over there," she points to a phone on an empty desk. "But I'm here, INSIDE, the AAA office. Can't you help me?" "No, you have to call in yourself. On no wait, that phone doesn't work, use this one. Dial 9 first." She smiles and walks away. At least I got some sympathy from the AAA lady on the phone who arranged for a tow truck. She was very sorry my vehicle had broken down and hoped the rest of my day would be better. Thank you very much AAA phone lady. I hope so, too. P.S Yeah, I know, they weren't open, blah blah. I'll break down a little later in the day next time. read more

I've been a member for 34+ years. Wouldn't be without it. My DMV tags didn't arrive in the mail. Two days ago, rather than go to the local DMV I went to the Alameda AAA office. Done. In ten minutes. Saved me hours of waiting and processing at the DMV. That alone was worth the annual Plus Membership fee. Don't know why anyone with a car wouldn't join AAA. it's one of the best deals around. read more
