***A quick update to our review: After reading this review, Jeff reached out to us to discuss it experience. He offered us compensation for our damaged console, as well as additional compensation for the poor experience. I appreciate then reaching out and trying to rectify things, so adjusting my rating from 1-star to 3-stars *** Here's what I originally wrote: We were initially thrilled that A2B movers were available to move us with just a week's notice... but in retrospect, we wish they hadn't been. In short: Avoid this company. They are slow, expensive, unprofessional and will likely damage your things. The details.. Misleading pricing: We were quoted $750 for 3 hours and 3 guys. We had already boxed up more than half our stuff, so we thought it would go very quickly. They were so slow. It took them 5 hours with only 1 guy packing for the majority of the time while the other 2 presumably preoccupied with loading the truck. They ultimately charged us $1350. For a two bedroom apartment with most things already boxed!! Unprofessional staff: They didn't bring enough packing material or closet boxes and blamed it on having the"wrong truck" (which was unmarked). They spent a lot of time just trying to assess how to wrap and pack things, and didn't really listen to our suggestions or preferences. The team turned up an hour later than quoted (despite the fact that we were paying by the hour for our building service elevator). They took a 20 min lunch break, which, to their credit, they deducted from our bill. But a few hours later, after I hadn't seen them in about 10 mins, I went down to investigate and they weren't at the truck either. They had all disappeared for about 20 mins. I confronted them about it when they returned and they tried to act like nothing happened. Damaged items: As I mentioned, they ran out of packing materials fairly quickly and started to just throw things together into boxes. Metal pans were tossed in unwrapped, expensive hanging clothes were bundled and shoved into boxes with shoes and hangers. We had to move our framed artwork ourselves because they didn't have anything left to satisfactorily wrap them with. Response: I contacted their customer service in an effort to claim reimbursement for damages, but after a week of no response, I'm making my issues public. read more

Awesomest Move Experience Wish it were always this easy. From start to finish, A2B made our move a breeze. Was first attracted to the great Yelp reviews. Requested a quote from a few movers and Nick from A2B made it quick and simple with a few questions and a quote. WE reserved our date, time, and move size from there. Fast forward to the night before. We confirmed details. This morning, the crew called about 15 minutes out. Four guys arrive-- Dennis, Anton, Dennis (#2), and Gabit-- and we are off to the races. They were fast in getting a 2,000 square foot house, plus a 1/3 full two-car garage, packed up into a long truck. The team used padding, wrap, and tape to keep our furniture clean and unbroken. They masterfully avoided corners, railing, walls, doors, and the like, so not a mark was left from their work. And they unloaded, placed furniture, reassembled some items, and them cleaned up after themselves at our new place. Nine hours in all. Wife is happy. Kid is giddily playing in her new room. I hired them for an in-town move of a 4-bedroom house. Unfortunately, they contracted the job out to another moving company, "Make It Easy Moving", without mentioning that they were doing so. I give them two stars because the movers were pretty good with the heavy furniture and didn't damage any walls that I noticed. They weren't the most careful, though. * They needlessly took apart my dining table to make it easier to pack their truck, instead of taking another trip 1 mile. * The took apart my garage shelves, also to better pack their truck, and didn't tighten the bolts when they reassembled them. * I was told they would pack large framed artwork, but they didn't take any precautions like wrapping them in plastic or blankets. As a result, I discovered that one of my larger pieces was scuffed and damaged. * They took 10.5 hours instead of the estimated 8, which wasn't a big deal, except that they acted like they were giving me 2 free hours of work (including their 1 hour lunch break.) The cherry on the top was at the end, when they *demanded* a cash tip, separate from the credit card charge. They were confrontational and wouldn't leave without payment, so I relented. I was doubly irritated when I discovered the damage later because they had not, in fact, done a good job worthy of the tip they demanded. I expect a moving company to act ethically and professionally, and treat my belongings with care and respect. I won't be using this moving company again. read more

Good group of movers, especially Nick, but Russ, Ali, Kerry were all respectful, hard workers, and made sure we were happy with the move. Some 4 hours delayed on their company's insurance certificates to our former condo HOA... Took a 4 hours delayed, it was extremely stressful for all of us. By 6:45 pm, they were able to arrive at our new place, they got it unloaded, set up the bed, and done by 8:30 pm... What a day . If you have a terrible HOA like ours, make sure to coordinate insurance ways in advance. My hubby emailed A2B and it was on their part till last minute! Still please CALL THEM, it's faster that way. Regardless 5 stars for the 4 movers that helped us! We bought them lunch & dinner. Plus 20% tip on credit card & some cash tip! Always take care of the people take care of you! They send enough people to handle the move quickly, and each team member knows exactly what they are doing. I had doubts our stuff would fit into the large truck they sent, but they packed everything very cleverly and just the right way, so everything fit together perfectly. 4 stars for scheduling and San Francisco movers: -We had some flexibility in our move date and when we confirmed with the company, we believed we would easily be able to obtain a discount by combining with another move. Unfortunately the 2 combo move dates we were offered did not work for us and were offered too late such that we had already given notice for our lease and thus we had to pay more than we expected for the move. -Nikita Matveev and his associate were incredibly kind and skilled movers. My only points of feedback were regarding the contract and gratuity. In terms of the contract, I felt pressured to sign what they said was a standard contract including that I received a booklet that I didn't receive. In terms of gratuity, we asked if they would be the same team at delivery and when reassured they would be, we planned to wait until delivery to tip although ultimately tipped after pick up upon request by Nick. He requested 20% for the entirety of the move of which he wanted 60% at pick up. He made it sound like the company did not provide a living wage at $20/hour and that the tip was necessary to cover expenses for the drive across the state. After being given a cash tip, he requested the difference between what he asked and what we were able to provide be sent via venmo. He did say, "only if comfortable," however, it can be really uncomfortable to discuss your financial limitations when asked somewhat persistently. Ultimately, a different team did delivery and we had a difficult decision to make about how to tip them when the pick up team had already received the majority of a very large tip. 5 stars for San Diego movers: -Tim, Max, and Andrew were friendly with good attitudes including moving our heavy furniture upstairs with a smile. -Tim was particularly great. He drove our furniture down from San Francisco that morning, covered the floors as we requested floor protection, unloaded the truck, and responded promptly to texts about missing shelf brackets (including communicating with the pick up team and guiding us on obtaining replacements). read more

Since my last review, the company has refunded us $300. They are now asking me to update my review to 4 stars so that they can remain a 5 star company, so I am here to update as they requested... While I don't necessarily feel like $300 was enough, I do appreciate their effort to rectify the situation. However, I will note that it took 2 weeks of emailing, texting and calling to receive a response and another 2 weeks to receive said refund. I understand they wanted to get all the details from their movers, but that sounds like more of a back of house issue than something customer should be held up over. It turns out that when they are busy, they contract out to smaller moving companies in the area. This is not something I was made aware of when booking. So the movers they sent were actually from another company. And the movers they sent called their own personal contacts to come help, so essentially our movers were a connection of a connection and far removed from A2B. They assure me they will not be working with this company again, but not sure why that should console me as that sounds like their own business and has nothing to do with me. In addition, the movers the contract company sent have since called my personal cell phone to beg me to plead with A2B to be back in good graces with them. On the phone they were desperate and hostile, claiming they almost lost their life in a previous move, etc. I didn't understand the connection and it made no sense but I don't love that these people have my home address and feel like I owe them something. All in all, you're probably better off booking with a smaller local moving company. Since A2B likely contracts out to them anyways, and would obviously have to up charge for both companies to be making any money. Do with this information what you will. read more

Overall this was a good service for a long hall from the bay area to L.A. We were able to do the quote via zoom which was quick and easy, and an estimate was emailed shortly after and they kept the price that was agreed upon. The moving team came on time in an unmarked van (no logo or branding) which is fine and with 4 movers, which was appropriate. The cost was sufficient as we checked the price with other companies and felt it was fair. They wrapped everything, disassembled and reassembled. For as much stuff as we had, it was relatively quick. Ultimately, this company was very responsive, professional and able to answer all my questions quickly (others were too but price and availability made it more appropriate). The movers were professional and cordial. Minor miscommunication on a couple items when they were on site, light damage to a couple things but company was very responsive. read more

My wife and I just completed a move of our 1 bedroom apartment and we were incredibly impressed with the entire experience working with A2B. The company came highly recommended by a colleague who has used them for a move every year for the past 6 years (Bay Area Landlords are not great). We worked with Rob on the quote and everything was explained clearly and all of the prices were laid out in our estimate. On the day, Nuris, San, and Sasha showed up right in the middle of the window we agreed on (they texted their ETA earlier in the morning) and they walked through the whole move with me prior to starting. After that, they beasted out our move and did the whole pack, transport, and storage in the storage unit within seven hours. We would have been happy paying way more for the service we received (don't tell them :)) and we will be recommending them to all our friends who have an upcoming move. They were able to get started with minimal guidance, and packed the truck with all of our boxes and furniture in record time. I chose A2B for its stellar user reviews on Yelp. In fact I booked another mover and paid $300 deposit but gave up on them in favor of A2B. The overall experience was okay. I booked a 4-person crew and a big truck because we had an upright piano. The team was polite and followed COVID protocols. They were pretty careful but that means they were very slow. In the end we paid for 11 hours (10 hours moving plus 1 hour round trip charge). TBH I was very surprised that we needed 10 hours of 4 people to move. Then I was asked to pay $200 (instead of $150 per quote) extra for moving the piano. I refused to comply, but paid the "suggested" $600 tip ($150/mover, which was way over my budgeted tips). We didn't immediately see any damages done by the crew until a few days later. I reached out to A2B and they were responsive initially. They didn't offer any dollar amount as compensation and instead asked me for a figure. I shared my perspective after talking to my general contractor who would do repairs for me. Afterwards I never heard back from them again. I'm sure many others had better experiences than us, and hope nobody will have the same issues as we had. UPDATE (11/23): Jeff, who handled my initial quote, reached out by phone and offered to resolve the issues. I appreciate that they took my review seriously and have changed my rating from 3- to 4-star. Will update again once all issues are resolved. read more
