We shopped around for different moving companies. Not only did A2B give us a very good quote, they also promised our move from CA to WA will take only 2-3 days (ended up taking one day). Other companies were going to have us share a truck which would cause delivery to take 6-10 days. This is a challenging review to write. The front office for A2B Movers is very friendly and I greatly appreciated their professionalism throughout my move. However, I'd like to advise anybody scheduling a move with A2B to find out as much as possible about the people who will actually be moving your belongings before booking. I learned from my experience that A2B uses contract movers and the quality of those movers can vary. In my case, I had a pretty awful experience with the moving crew assigned to me. On the day of our move, two movers came to my apartment and instantly started complaining about how much stuff my wife and I owned. Granted, we did have a lot to move, but that kind of seems like part of the job. After loading about half our stuff into the truck, they told me that I should pay to add two more movers to the drop-off location, which I agreed to do. On top of that, they suggested that I help them move some of our belongings to help speed up the process. Next thing I knew, I was moving our entire backyard set-up while they worked on the inside of the apartment. Eventually, the truck was packed and they left to meet the two additional crew members and my wife at the moving destination. My wife oversaw the second stage of the move and called me to come by when the crew was wrapping up. When I arrived, I was handed a bill that included a $400 gratuity (about a 40% tip) and $224 charge for one hour of travel (we lived about 10-15 minutes away). When I questioned the movers on these charges, they tried to convince me that this was standard for a job well done and that the added travel charges were for the additional crew members who came from San Francisco. At this point my wife and I were exhausted and felt intimidated by the crew standing around making us feel like we were in the wrong for questioning the extra charges, so we settled the bill and went on with the day. After the movers left, we went inside and found a number of scratches across our walls and doorways. This was especially frustrating because everything was repainted prior to our move. After assessing the damage and reflecting on our negative experience with the move itself, we decided to follow up with the front office and let them know about what happened. After speaking with a front office representative, we found out that not only is a 40% tip not standard for a good job (we assumed as much), but A2B policy is that movers shouldn't put a suggested tip on the bill under any circumstance. To be clear, we planned to tip the movers...just not almost half the cost of the actual move. The person I spoke with also acknowledged that the 1 hour of travel was an overcharge based on the distance of our move. I was ultimately transferred to a manager, who was very apologetic and explained that the movers were new contractors who had not been properly trained on A2B's practices. The manager ultimately offered to refund our overcharge and pay to have our walls repainted where they sustained damage. They moved quickly to rectify the situation and processed our refund/paid for repainting within about a week. We definitely appreciate how the issue was handled and management's desire to make things right. However, the overall experience with our movers left a lot to be desired. read more

We did our 2 bedroom 1 bath 1 balcony move yesterday and it was very smooth. I couldn't believe it took 8.5 hours but they were hustling the whole time. We just have a lot of stuff ;-) Rus and his team of 2 helpers were working tirelessly for the full day. Our packed boxes took very little time to move but the furniture took awhile to wrap protect and move. I had no idea the work until I see them do it. Everything was very well protected. Our stuff filled the truck to the max. Rus and team also did a great job unloading. They also helped us move the furniture a few times so we can see how it looked. The beds were reassembled very nicely and to original firm. Very sturdy and no squeaks. Overall recommend them. Pro tips 1. Expect to take longer than what you expect as it takes time to wrap the furniture and protect them 2. Buy them lunch and offer water. They literally don't stop to do it but are very thankful when we provided. We got them sandwiches and they ate for 15 min and got right back to work 3. Floor protecting materials were hard to use. My hubby and I ended up doing it vs them so they can unload instead. Saved a little time 4. They allowed me to temperature them on forehead with infrared thermometer so I had piece of mind 5. Prepare to also pay for their truck parking if you live in city. We did have one small crack on one of our ikea furniture. Not too worried as they were not made too sturdy. Overall moving is always stressful. They at least made it less so for us for a pretty reasonable price. read more

These movers are legit! I've never hired professional movers before and was skeptical about such services, but these guys were honest, hardworking, knowledgeable, and amazingly fast. They got a bunch of furniture and appliances (some REALLY heavy) taped up and out of our 3-story house in a matter of hours and probably would've been even faster if we didn't still have some small things to clear out of the way -- sooo efficient you can tell they weren't trying to milk you for the hourly rate. They went above and beyond trying to reinstall our appliances in our new house, even troubleshooting when they wouldn't work in the new space. This is a revision of a previous review that I posted here a couple of weeks ago. I booked a last minute move with A2B at the end of May. Unfortunately, this move did not go well for me, which included damage and the movers leaving for an hour with my belongings. I wrote A2B to let them know of my experience. Jeff at A2B was very quick to respond and to remedy the situation. He let me know this is very unusual for them (I was also surprised because they have so many good Yelp reviews). He also let me know that they are doing everything possible to make sure this doesn't happen to any other customer -- which I feel is important to include for anyone who is considering hiring them. They reimbursed me for the items damaged and for the move, which to me feels like a generous resolution and which I'm extremely appreciative of. While, I've only had this one experience with A2B, my followup conversations with Jeff gave me the impression that this is a company that cares about its customers and cares about the quality of the service they provide. read more

~NOTE: This review is for a move we did at the end of July 2019. I've had this review drafted since August and have just forgotten to publish until now!~ WHY WE DECIDED ON A2B: Two and half weeks before we needed to move, I contacted several companies for quotes. A2B was recommended by a friend, had the best price ($154/hr cash for a Fri or weekend move), and were available for the day we needed. They were very easy to reach, both by email and by phone, and very clearly explained their policies and prices. OUR ESTIMATE: We were given an estimate that the move would take 9-10 hours for $1,426.00 - $1,580.00, which seemed like a very conservative over-estimate to us. DETAILS OF OUR MOVE: We moved from the Mission to the Excelsior in San Francisco - about a 15 minute drive. We had a 2-bed apartment plus a ~250sf basement storage unit. We had 2 beds and 1 crib that had to be disassembled. In the end I believe we had about 50 boxes. OUR PREPARATIONS: We were gung-ho on taking MUCH LESS than the 9-10 hour estimate. I called A2B several times asking advice how to make the move go more efficiently and also talked to friends who've hired movers. Here are some steps we took: - Didn't ask A2B to do any packing (there were a few loose items - brooms, large baby toys, that they put into wardrobe boxes) - Labeled every single box and piece of furniture clearly with the room they were going to (I do want to note that when the movers arrived, they did say that we had everything packed really well!) - Very clearly labeled pieces that did not need moving - As suggested by the office, stacked all our boxes to the appropriate height (4 small, 3 medium, or 2 large) - I even created a floor plan of our final house in the Excelsior to show them where each room was DAY OF THE MOVE: Nicholas, Sam, and Ivan were very professional, very polite, and worked very hard. They were a complete pleasure to have around all day and I would highly recommend their team! Nicholas called with a 30 minute warning and arrived even earlier than that. We did a brief walk through, I signed the contract, and the clock started. We didn't anticipate actually having free time while they were moving our boxes into their truck and ended up just sitting around doing work. In retrospect, we should have just used this time to disassemble furniture, because when they were done moving boxes and disassembled, this seemed to take the most time (granted we did have one bed that was very tricky). All three of them protected our furniture very carefully, and have done this a lot so they were "familiar" with some of our more heavy/tricky pieces of furniture (a marble coffee table, a heavy bar cabinet). I noticed they were really careful to not scrape against the wallpaper on the stairs, which is embossed and easily dented. However, there were a couple small slips - as they were taking apart our coffee table, the 3rd person who was supposed to stabilize the legs wasn't ready so those fell over on the floor (they are very, very heavy pieces). When they put down our glider at the new place, they let it drop a couple feet on the hardwood floor. The bottom has a metal piece with a pretty sharp edge and it may have dented the floor - though now the glider is sitting on that spot so I haven't been bale to check. FINAL COST: The 10-hour move cost us $1500. We were a little surprised it took as long as it did. When I tell friends that our move took this long, many of them are completely SHOCKED, especially since we only moved 15 minutes away. However, the friends who had recommended us to A2B thought this cost was fair. When I think about why the move took so long, despite all our efforts to have everything ready to go, maybe it was a few things: - We have a long set of stairs, as we were moving out of a 3rd floor walk up - The entrance to our old condo had a tricky corner around which the movers had to navigate each stack of boxes - Our basement unit is accessed from a back door, so poor Sam, who was assigned to this area, had to bring our items back and forth around our house by himself - As mentioned before, we have one bed that's tricky to disassemble. It has about a million screws that need to be taken out in order to access other screws to take it apart I mentioned my surprise at the amount of time the move took when I called A2B about another issue (screws missing in our crib, which they refunded us for), but there's nothing really they can do, as long as the movers were working hard (they were!). As they mentioned, I am not a professional mover, so I don't have a good sense of how long these things take. Also, technically, they were within their estimate. In the end, the move was much easier for us than if we had attempted it ourselves, and I tell myself that A2B is about the quality. Maybe there are other movers who can do a super quick job, but they might not be as careful as A2B is, and it is that time and quality that you are paying for. read more
