Took a little longer because of thing beyond their control but way less expensive than any other company I called and worth every penny and then some! I did not work with this company in regards to a move, but did deal with them as they moved a resident into the apartment building I live in. They parked right outside the garage exit and made it EXTREMELY difficult to be able to make the turn. They had not yet begun to move anything in and so it would not have at all been any sort of inconvenience for them to pull up 5 more feet to make it easier on the thousands of other residents that live in the apartment. When asked if they would move up, they were rude and dismissive the entire time telling us we could make it and then just ignoring us. Not to mention they were parked in a no parking zone the entire time too. I would NEVER work with this moving company considering how their movers feel it's appropriate to treat to others so incredibly rude and act so entitled. There are moving zones in our apartment, we would know considering we have used them in the past, and upon telling them that they told us we were wrong and again went about their business of acting as if no one else mattered. read more

These guys were amazing. I had two movers (Alex, the owner, was one) help me with a Redmond to Kirkland move. They arrived exactly on time on a Sunday morning and got right down to business. Because of a height restriction on my Redmond apartment, I had to rent my own truck (Alex offered to do it for me and just pass the cost on, but I declined), but these guys handled it like pros. It took only 3 hours total, including travel, to get about 1.5 bedrooms worth of furniture and 15 boxes of books to my new house, which was very impressive. I hired A-Ray's yesterday, to move my stuff from a storage unit in Woodinville to a new apartment in Kirkland. Where other moving companies quoted me that it would take 4 hours, A-Ray's did it in 2 hours and 45 minutes. Where other moving companies wanted to charge me a fuel surchage, A-Ray's only charged me for the time involved. Where other moving companies took days to get back to me, A-Ray's called right away. I can't say enough for this company- they were friendly, professional, efficient, and inexpensive. None of my stuff was mishandled, broken, or lost, and they updated me every few hours on their timeline, the day of my move. I ended up moving from Magnolia at the last minute and wasn't very well prepared. I e-mailed Alex, and he managed to work me into the schedule without a lot of advance notice. As others have pointed out, e-mail communication was excellent, which is very important to me, since I work all day and end up making arrangements after dinner. Alex and Billy showed up on time, were cheerful and not scary. The truck is nice and modern looking. Despite my slipshod packing job, Alex and Billy loaded seven years worth of stuff into their truck and we headed off to Lynnwood. I was impressed with the way Alex handled the truck on the freeway. I'm a nervous passenger, but I felt completely at ease with Alex's driving. They did a great job and made moving as pleasant an experience as it could possibly be. The cost was less than I expected. If I ever have to move again I would not hesitate to call A-Ray's, because it's important to me to deal with people I can trust. read more

We checked with many movers before our move in September, right from craigslist listings to personal recommendations to yelp listings. Yelp is always a positive bias for us, so we finally narrowed it down to two movers. But the other movers (gentle giant) took 3-4 days of call-tagging to reach, and finally gave us a quote of $1000 to move an 800 sqft apartment that was already packed and staged. Really? I couldn't believe it would take 3 men 5-6 hours to move our stuff.But we have expensive furniture and didn't want to take a risk. So we called A-Ray. Our call was answered immediately and we got a no-hidden charges quote right then. We managed to get a date 5 days out too. The movers Dan and Logan arrived ten minutes before scheduled and quickly took a survey. They started on the dot and worked efficiently. All our furniture and boxes were well protected and padded in the truck. The men were friendly and joked around as they worked. They somehow managed to get our monster sofa bed into the house without breaking the sofa or their backs.They finished the job in four hours flat. They even disassembled and reassembled our bed in that time. Our total came out to $360 including their travel times to and from the warehouse and whats more, there were no hidden charges and no fuel surcharge. A month later, we haven't found anything more than one little scratch on our furniture- we couldn't be happier! read more

After reading reviews for many movers, went with A-Ray's last weekend and I couldn't be more pleased with the result. They sent 3 movers and a large truck - which called me 20 minutes before they were to arrive to let me know they were in route and would be there a little early (awesome). The three gentlemen could not have been nicer. They were incredibly eager to help and super positive. They were actually having fun working - which for moving, says a lot! They made super quick work over everything. Were happy to take direction and special requests. I was so please I brought a big bag of Dick's burgers for the gang at the new house as a thank you. They then made quick work getting everything into the new home, and just where it all had to be. Second time was even better than the first. This time we were moving from Seattle to Puyallup and had way more stuff and the giant staircase to our Seattle apartment was a daunting task. The guys took great care of our stuff and even handled the plants. Very polite and professional and good natured through the load-up. When we reached the new house the sellers were still there and still had crap all through the house. On top of moving our stuff into the house the guys also moved the previous owners crap into the garage so I could have the junk haulers come and take it away. They arrived on-time and we packed up my 2bdrm apartment simultaneously, me packing alongside the A-Ray's team. I won't be using A-Ray's Moving Solutions again. I've used them twice in the past. Like another review below says, several negative things added up to a not so great experience. The first time I used A-Ray's, they were eager to please (I'm assuming for repeat business) in terms of customer service. They moved fast. However, they dropped a box and broke some items. They also unscrewed my dining table and lost the screws. So, I had to go buy new screws and put the table together myself which was annoyingly inconvenient. One of the movers stood with me as we waited for Alex to bring the truck around to the other side of the building. The mover told me his partner's son is around the same age as him. I had no words. The second time I used them, they were a lot less friendly and terribly awkward. My new landlord came to chat with me as their moving truck pulled in, and neither of my movers wanted to acknowledge my landlord when she was right there. It was uncomfortable and rude. Alex was also talking on his phone as he was unloading my boxes from the truck, as I was standing right next to him. It was very unprofessional and again, rude. Finally, my main issue with A-Ray's is their lack of attention to detail. The movers left behind one of the boards that holds my bed together at my old apartment. I was surprised to see it sitting there as I locked up my old place. I had to jam it into my car and it barely fit. They also rushed through explaining how to set my bed up which frustrated me. It's not professional of a moving company to leave behind items as they did, or to talk on the phone when I'm right next to them as they're moving items. If I'm paying $500 for 4 hours of their time to help me move, I expect them to at least be professional and treat me with respect. read more

I chose Alex's moving company because of Yelp reviews and the fact that they have very competitive prices. I've used his service 2x in the two years I've lived in Seattle. A-Ray's Moving helped me once to move my heavy items from Redmond to Seattle and another time to move my items stacked in a small U-Pack container for my move back to California. Alex and his crew are very efficient. I would highly recommend that you stay organized. Pack all your things ahead of time, which room they will be in and mark which one is fragile, will help the entire process. This makes the whole flow of things very smooth. If it's just load and unload, you won't get a more fair price than these guys. They handle things fast and are very friendly. As for wood furniture, make sure you wrap it yourself first. I got a slight scratch on the legs of my expensive couch (which I plan to rub some walnut so no one can tell) but it's slight. They know how to maneuver things out of your doorway if you're afraid it's too big. It took them only one try to get my couch out my apartment and through to a narrow hallway without damage. Compare that to the furniture company that took 30 minutes to see how they can get that same couch in. Tell them which items you need to protect with shrink-wrap--and they'll get it. (I didn't think about the legs of my couch so check up.) You might need to be lenient to do some dusting after the move and checking up, but I found you'd have to do this with any moving company. They are expert stackers and was able to put my life in a U-PACK with extra space. That's an entire studio apartment worth of stuff--not easy! Alex and his crew is quick, courteous and efficient. If you fill the form online, they'll get back to you very quickly. If you call them, they definitely call you back. They got good attitude and work harder than many people I know. I'd recommend them for prepared, organized people who want to get a move done at a competitive rate. read more

Moving is one of those universally "most stressful" ordeals, and I recommend getting professional help like A-Ray's to reduce troubles and worries. Alex provided a wonderful moving solution as promised! He was pretty responsive and communicative during initial chats, and helped make the overall process less stressful. He even called to let us know a morning appt. had freed up (we had booked an afternoon one), though we didn't take it. We initially needed stuff moved from one apt. to another, though the emphasis of this changed to furniture assembly. On the day of the move, Alex and Ian showed up, prepared with dollies and power tools. We were definitely impressed by their can-do attitudes and expediency to get to work once we showed them what we needed them to do. They multitasked effectively, and amidst other banter, saved us a lot of time and labor setting up various pieces. They even modded our bedframe for better stability with a creative approach to problem-solving -- pretty clever in the spur of the moment! Alex and Ian were also thorough in asking if there was anything else they could help with while they were present. After the job was done, billing was straightforward, and they explained it helpful. One small thing: on their website, they note a "one hour minimum" but it's actually a two-hour minimum including travel time. I emailed them to clarify this. read more

Our move this past weekend was the second time we've used A-Ray's; they helped us move into and out of our condo. Our first experience was really stellar with Alex and another mover helping us relocate.This most recent time was a little less excellent. The two movers showed up on time, only to the wrong location. That wasn't a big deal, I called and had them come to the address with the instructions I listed on the quote. Unfortunately, I would later find that I was still billed for half an hour while they found the right address. Again, I thought that's okay, that's roughly what I was going to tip them. The movers were friendly enough, but complained a lot about the slowness of our (annoyingly non-dedicated) freight elevator. They had a GIANT truck that barely fit, that seemed like overkill for our load, but I understand there are other moves in the day requiring various things. One of the movers was having a lot of difficulty using the dolly they had, and often dropped our boxes as he slipped the dolly out and picked them up again quickly. There were a couple of broken items but nothing major. Lastly, they do charge for transit time, which sucks when they're just north of downtown and we're downtown, but you still have to pay for the 30 mins to an hour it takes to get through that. Overall, I think the movers are better behaved when Alex is around, but it wasn't a BAD experience necessarily. It's combining all those slightly negative things that makes me not sure if I'd use them a third time. read more

Even though I wrapped all my boxes with duct tape (which doesn't stick, as I found out), they thought of a creative solution to move all my (falling apart) items. I picked A-Ray's based on their excellent Yelp reviews, and Yelp users were right. We had a complex move from an older Craftsman-style home (with narrow doorways and steep stairs) to a house down a long, steep driveway. I communicated with Alex (the owner) beforehand, shared pictures, discussed the difficulties, etc. Throughout, he was very communicative and responsive. With only a couple days notice, we had to delay our move by two days, then had to delay it again another two days, due to construction activity at the new house - Alex took it all in stride and rescheduled us each time. On moving day, they showed up with two trucks and four guys as planned. We knew we were their only move for the day, and I was very clear with them that I cared more about "doing no damage" than I did about speed. They moved swiftly, but safely, and got everything packed in under 4 hours. That included full disassembly of bed frames, wrapping furniture, etc. After a drive to the new house, they unpacked it all in another 2.5 hours, for 7 hours total, with not a scratch on a single item. It's too bad that I don't move very often, because I would happily use these guys again. read more

I hired A-Ray's Moving Solutions to do my move after contacting a dozen or more other moving companies. The reason I went with A-Ray's is because they actually responded to my form request with an email. They were the only ones - all of the other companies phoned me and wanted me to tell them all of the information I had spent time filling in on their forms. No thank you. If I wanted to talk to you on the phone, I would have called rather than fill out your stinking form. Thank you A-Ray's for making it so easy. The 2 guys did an excellent job with our move. They showed up on time and both had a great attitude and personality. They did a stellar job fitting all of our stuff in the moving truck. To be honest, I didn't think they would be able to do it. When we got to our destination and started unloading, they explained to me that none of our big items would fit downstairs, but said they would be willing to give it a try to show me. They did this on 2 big items, which didn't fit (they were right). I really appreciated the extra effort. I had a very large move with 2 locations that filled their entire 27' truck. It took 6.5 hours with my husband and I both helping a lot (which we planned to do - otherwise we would have hired 4 movers with all the stuff we have). The charge was $80/hr for the 2 movers and 30 minutes of travel time added on, which was less than actual. We had a paper lamp that got torn, but we failed to pack it properly. Even so, A-Ray's deducted it from our cost. Plus, I have never moved myself without at least one thing getting broken - I can't expect movers to treat my stuff any better than I do. The thing is, A-Rays did! 3 months previous when I moved my stuff into storage (waiting to move into a new house) I broke a bookcase, lawnchairs fell all over the truck, my BBQ tipped over, and countless other things got damaged. My boyfriend and I were moving in together. I was coming from a small studio in Cap Hill and he from an apartment in Northgate to our final destination near Green Lake. Alex and co arrived to my apartment on time and made super quick business of hauling my stuff up and out to their truck. After loading up my apartment, they headed over to my boyfriend's place. My boyfriend had a lot of stuff (a lot more than anyone realized). They were very patient and worked with my boyfriend to get everything into their truck in one load and we were off! The off load was super efficient. Our move took a few hours longer than anticipated so I ordered pizza for everyone and felt bed that they only took a 15 minute break before getting back to work! I have to be honest - when I booked A-Ray's, after receiving in-home estimates from six different moving companies, I was certain Alex's estimate was wrong. I told my husband and my in-laws "they quoted 5-6 hours but it's going to really take 7-8; that's what EVERYONE else quoted." Behold my shock when, a little over 5 hours after they started, everything was done. Done! And that included 20 minutes of them doing everything humanly possible to fit our couch down a staircase that turned out to simply be too small for it. I have never seen humans move so fast carrying so much stuff. No damage to anything, including our awkward/bulky/fragile items. Seriously I can't get over what a good choice it was to pick A-Rays; we could have paid double if we had gone with the first quotes we got. Our Realtor recommended A-Ray's and as they have a location near to the Lower Queen Anne Apartment we were moving out of it seemed like a good idea. I reached out via the website explaining what we needed and when as per the very clear online form, and Alex called me within the hour to tell me his recommendations for the service we needed and to book it in. I had asked about boxes and Alex came to the apartment that very afternoon to deliver a selection of packing materials, all of which made my job a lot easier. On the day Alex called early to check all was OK, and as we said we were ready he and his team came straight away. All three were polite, friendly and worked really hard from the moment they arrived. The job was not without adversity as we were six floors up and the elevator key didn't show up as promised by our landlord but they didn't complain at all and made an easy job of packing all our worldly possessions into the truck. Our new place is a house so no more elevator trouble but some different challenges with various bits of staircase and some awkward turns to navigate but Alex and his team worked carefully but quickly to get everything to its right place without a scuff or scratch on anything. Hopefully that's us done with moving for a while but if we need help again I wouldn't hesitate to call A-Ray's and would heartily recommend them to anyone else moving to, from or within the Seattle area. read more

These guys were able to accommodate my last minute (next day!) move, with professionalism and great customer service.
