I recently ordered a product online from A-OK Power Equipment and unfortunately ran into some shipping issues. What impressed me was how quickly and professionally they handled the situation. They were very kind and understanding and made sure I received the product I ordered right away. When I came into the store to pick it up, Angie greeted me with a smile and was incredibly helpful. Since it was my first time there, she took the time to show me around and helped me with several other products I was interested in. She even went the extra mile to look up additional information on the computer for me. Great customer service can make all the difference when something doesn't go as planned, and A-OK Power equipment definitely came through. I'll absolutely be coming back and purchasing more products from them. Highly recommended! Vincent read more

Took my chainsaw for repair went to go pick it up. They said they fixed it, but was still having issues with it. Then they said the carburetor was bad. It took nine months to get the carburetor in. They told me they would replace the carburetor all I would have to do is pay for the carburetor and then we install it for free since they already charged me for the previous service. I said OK I went to go pick it up. They said they didn't fix it because it was a cost-effective . It was gonna be more than the chainsaw was worth, but the carburetor was only $70 so they didn't wanna spend their time replacing the carburetor because they were gonna get paid for it after they said they were gonna do it. They didn't anticipate it was gonna be a lot more work than expected so they basically said we're not gonna do it unless you want to pay the $235 for service. I will never do business with them again. The service lady was rude and disrespectful. Basically said to bad we don't alwyget what we want. Instead of working me she brushed me off.. worst service I ever experienced. She also said we have had issues with our technicians and had to have them replace. I wonder how many people got ripped off. read more

horrible customer service from the service technician, owner should send him to school to learn customer service and speak with a little of respect. Or find another profession. read more

Mechanic was really helpful. Definitely coming back here again. Great service and attitude!

I recently brought two chainsaws in to this place to service one I purchased there before it changed its name to A Ok Power Equipment as a mom and pop shop. I just called him this morning because one of them doesn't start at all and the other one is hard to start. I spent damn near $200 there and now they're telling me that there's no warranty on the service work they did because it's been over 30 days even though this saw hasn't been used at all this poor customer service steer clear at all cost sure wish this was a small mom and pop shop once again. Once again corporate America destroyed a really decent mom and pop small business!! read more

Horrible well no basically no customer service, sends wrong item doesn't answer phone or messages. If you want to get ripped off do business here read more

Aok Power Equipment is the cleanest best stocked power equipment store I have ever seen! They have all the top brands including the best selection of Arborist gear and ropes . You can go see your gear and try it in store ! The customer service is excellent and they have a quick turn around with their in house mechanic. read more

This. Place. Is. Awesome. Holy crap, they have the gear. Needed a 25" full skip sthil chain and they had it in stock. The girls behind the counter knew exactly what I was looking for. Rigging equipment? Yup. Climbing gear? Yup. This place is for the pros. Ended up getting my chain and walked out with so much more. I'm a firefighter and fire season is coming up, found a lot of useful things in this place. It would be awesome if they carried Rouge tools, but for a little hometown shop, you can't beat it. Great customer service, amazing stock, and friendly people. Can't believe it's right down the street and I've never been in. Highly recommended! read more

I've struggled for years with my weed trimmers and chainsaws, and in past week I went to 5-6 other places and the salespeople have no idea about the equipment. Eddy helped me, went over pros and cons, step by step written instructions, maintenance and fuel options. I absolutely recommend this place, total pros. read more

This place really sucks they don't seem to know what they're doing! I kept calling every week for a month try to find out what was going on with my walk behind weedeater they kept telling me that they were waiting for a part. I got tired of waiting and went in and spoke with them and they told me know that the machine wasn't worth fixing so they did not order the part and I would be reimbursed my money. When I came back to pick up the machine with my truck they charged me for the part that they said they never ordered and it seems to be the wrong part. I don't think these people have a clue how to fix anything! Save your time and your money take your equipment elsewhere read more

I have been going to this store for over 25 years through three owner for my equipment repairs. Jim, the present owner is rude and repairs are not done properly. I have never experienced a problem until he purchased the business. Angelica and Sudi are extremely rude to customers. I've experienced this several times in the past year now and I've decided never to go back to A-OK. They recently took in my repair and made the item worse than when I brought it in to begin with. When I returned to addressed my concerns, I was treated horribly and charged an additional $40 to recheck their repair or lack there of. I was shocked when Jim proceeded to tell me his workers spent too much time with me addressing my concerns. Time?? I was never called as agreed with an estimate before they worked to repair the item. Angelica, it seems, changed the story to her boss to cover her A** because jim's attitude towards me was totally uncalled for and out of the blue. And once I returned back with my item and asked again for a call, it sat for a week with no phone call and no assistance. Just an additional charge do to nothing. I am filling a complaint with BBB to get my money back for non repair and damage to my equipment. Chaotic, horrible, incompetent repair and extremely rude to customers. I highly suggest you go elsewhere. I certainly will. read more

This place is a joke. Stay away..there are better dealers in the Escondido area...almost any of them are way better the A-ok. A-OK is over priced for parts, and equipment, has poor customer support, and the folks working there ..well ...they shouldn't be working there. there are 3 other dealers/parts/repair services in the area that are top notch. read more

There is a lady up front her name is Angie , I don't recall her last name . But she is very rude . Bad customer service !!!! The other lady is very sweet with a young man who helped me get what I needed asap . He really knows his stuff !! But that Angie lady made me feel very uncomfortable, especially her attitude and her staring problem. Very disrespectful to other customers as well . Not to be the bad guy , but i go in a lot and I always see her eating and sitting around doing nothing . I hope the business owner does something about her and hires someone who knows what they are doing . I think she lied on her resume . I don't think she knows what she is talking about . Hopefully she gets customer service lessons . read more

Nathalie gave the best customer support, one the best customer services I've received in awhile. Found everything I needed, got in & out. Highly recommend for equipment!!! read more

Based on this companies reviews, they SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS! BUYER BEWARE! This company put PICTURES on their sales listings of kits that include all parts. No where in their description do they state something is "not included" or "sold seperately" so when you order, you THINK you are getting the COMPLETE KIT. But when the package comes, you do NOT GET all of WHAT YOU PAID FOR! Then when you call them to find out where your part is that is missing, they offer to SELL YOU that part in addition to what you already paid for. They REFUSE to offer any solution other than to get more money out of you and when you push back, their MANAGER accuses YOU of ABUSE! AND if you decide you are done with these people, YOU have to pay the shipping to get the package back to them for their MISREPRESENTATION of product. RIP OFF and FRAUDULENT!!! Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, these people are UNETHICAL and CROOKS! read more

I took my chain saw chain in to be sharpened. Just picked it up and it didn't appear to be sharpened correctly. Took it to another repair shop in town where I am having the carburetor rebuilt because A-OK only has a technician onsite one day every two weeks. The other shop told me the chain was sharpened incorrectly. Went back to A-OK for a refund after telling them what the other shop said and I was told it was sharpened correctly. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the chain isn't sharp. They refused to refund my $10.67 because labor was put into the sharpening. I am having the other shop resharpen the chain for only $5.00. On a side note, I purchased 1 foot of fuel line from A-OK for $4.00 and change. On Amazon 10 feet is only $8.98. You think I was ripped off? Is this review worth $10.67? There are other repair shops in Escondido that are more reputable and reasonably priced. Stay away from them!!!! read more

About as bad as it gets with customer service, if you can call it that. They operate under an ignore the customer policy I believe. As well, Matt told me that text message was the best way to communicate with them... how many businesses do you communicate with via text message? To top it off he doesn't even reply via text, which is what he said is the best way to communicate... WTF? I ordered parts in October, that they said would be in the first week of December. They contacted me saying the parts were in, but now in the middle of February they have yet to provide me with my parts, which they said will be sent to me because of the delay. These people are a joke... not too funny, however. The drive to a different city to deal with your equipment needs will not be nearly the hassle or as lengthy as dealing with these monkeys. read more

When it was locally owned by Paul & Family, service, friendliness, along with fair prices were why folks went there. This place is so bad, I'd think anyone will go once and never come back. Poor customer service - rude and obnoxious folks at the counter. High Priced - For service or purchases, mark up way beyond what's reasonable. Repair service- Forget it... Highly Recommended that you take gardening equipment repairs and purchases to other local shops in Escondido. read more

They don't fix the equipment, they don't honor the warranty, and they blame the customer. Never again. The worst.

Do NOT bother taking your equipment to be fixed at this location. They will overcharge you even if you chose not to have them work on your equipment. You are going to loose one way or another with these guys. This used to be a locally owned and family operated shop. It was sold to somebody with headquarter in Santa Barbara who has to inspect your equipment and get back to you maybe in 30-35 days later with a ridiculous repair list and very high price. If you complain to the guys at the counter, forget it, they are not going to help. clueless. I brought a weed wacker and hedge trimmer, they quoted me over $500 to repair both, more than they are worth, and charged me $75.00 to get them back ($37.50 each). Which they never told me.. I took them to Capo Beach Equipment in Capo Beach and they fixed both for $120. Working perfectly too. They replaced the carburetors and fuel lines. With my experience with them, I would stay away from A-OK Power Equip. in Escondido. read more

Buyer beware here for equipment. Just purchased equipment value over $700 and found out that it was on the shelf for over 2 years. They serviced the equipment and scratched the bottom of the saw and did not even fill the oil reservoir up. Then registered the saw and found out that I could have extended the warranty if I had purchased the mfg fuel. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!! read more

So the chipper went to Santa Barbara. the tech there took off the inspection plate over the blade which does not allow any view inside really. they sent back a quote to replace everything inside; the flywheel, bearings blades... everything and they did this without taking the housing off and seeing the taperlock bushing, the shaft... nothing. This was a complete waste of time. I trailered the chipper over and went back and retrieved it and paid $39 for the privilege of getting this shoddy estimate. I was suspicious when I was told they would take it apart for $39 and give an estimate but now my suspicions are confirmed. I paid for them to do nothing. If you tell them OK go ahead because you don't know any better then they make a killing. And if you don't they still make out fine. The machine is going elsewhere or "away" but it won't be coming back here. read more

When my mower wouldn't start I called Sears as I have a service contract, and they told me to take it here. A-OK kept it for weeks, and wrote in their diagnosis that I was at fault, which led Sears to decline coverage. And they told me they'd fix it for $160, $60 for parts, the rest labor. I found a YouTube video that showed how to clean the carburetor, which I suspected was the problem, and this took several hours, as I am not handy, but now it runs just fine. And although I didn't need it, I researched carbs online, at Amazon they are $35. This place is slow and a major Ripoff -- I don't recommend them for service and I don't recommend Sears service contracts (I'd purchased service contracts from Sears for years, and they'd always been 'no fault', but no more and thus I'll no longer go there). read more

This is the worst shop in county twice they tried to say customer abuse anybody notice a pattern. They do this to everybody second time they tried to say customer abuse on lawnmower bag after waiting 4 months to get answer they said bag not covered. So I asked for bag back they said they threw it out and would order 1 after 2 months of calling they then said bag was discontinued. I contacted Sears the same day and told them issues I am having and they gave me the same discontinued bag same day. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHADY SHOP read more

I will never come back here. A 2 week job took 5 weeks. They did unauthorized work and wouldn't return the machine until I paid for it.

This used to be a local shop. Now when you drop off something off, they ship it to santa Barbara and charge YOU for their equipment repair location costs. I found it odd, it took weeks longer and can't just go ask for it back. Bad business model when they stick you you there transport costs. They make money just moving you stuff around and told me it was just out of gas. Total bs.. cost was $37.. $17 was their shipping costs. Guys at counter ok, but don't expect a call back when they tell you they will.. ain't going to happen read more

I like the counter people, but there is a problem with their business model and those in charge. I was questioning the estimate for parts and service and was pretty much told I could get a monkey to work on it if I only wanted one thing repaired. Well if a monkey fixed the main problem, then guess what... a monkey fixed it and not them. Very unhappy with management. Somebody needs more customer relationship training, and you know who you are. read more

This place is the WORST. I brought my backpack blower in to be repaired because it was hard to start. Had to leave it for 2 weeks because they only have a mechanic who comes in once in a while. Paid 75.00 and took it home. Still hard to start so I took it back for another 2 week wait. Picked it up and still wouldn't start. So my third time back I was pissed. They wanted it for two more weeks and I told them to forget it and I would let everyone I know to avoid this place. They said I had a bad attitude and that nothing pleased me. Are you kidding me!!!!!!!!! read more

My husband took the riding lawnmower in to get the oil changed and serviced. He asked them to check out a rattle when the clutch was engaged. They gave him a quote that the cost would be $2,400 to repair the mower as the motor was shot. The cost was as much as a new mower. In order to pick it up they charged us $75.00, and they never serviced the mower as requested. We found out that it needed an $11.00 plastic pully to be replaced. The motor runs as good as it was new without any rattle or play in the shaft as they claimed it was. We brought this to their attention and they would not refund us the money or be honest about the situation. I do not trust this company. read more

the company they bought the business from was great....this company does not have it all together yet....2 months to fix a mower the first time.... This second time, it has taken 3 weeks to get an estimate. I hope that they start getting it together, or some other business will open, and take all their business away....Right now they are the only game in town. read more

The only reason I'm choosing one star for this review is I can't choose zero or even less. I was absolutely robbed by these people today. I brought my riding mower in for a belt replacement and to have the battery checked and replaced if it no longer held a charge. Both things are listed on the work order. Not only did neither of them get done, I was charged $150 for the same "work" that had been done less than a year ago: lubrication, spark plug replacement, and "cleaning out the fuel tank". My fault for not checking the itemized labor charges before paying. I realized I needed to check it only after going outside to load the mower into my truck and seeing a guy using the pull cord to start it. No apologies from ownership; just an offer to look up info on the battery so I could order it myself. Absolute rip-off. Fool me once, shame on you; there won't be a second time. Go somewhere else - these folks are crooks. read more
