I was working on a project for Halloween, and went here to purchase some items I would need. The staff were all very helpful, they even gave me advice on what I should use for my project. The prices are pretty reasonable, I saw about the same prices on Amazon for the things I was looking for. There is plenty of parking which is always a plus nowadays. HF Escondido Abuse I am 66 years old with painful back. On 12/5/25 PM a tall female cashier at Escondido CA HF abused me TWICE which was mean. I had a product question but nobody was available so I waited for a single cashier serving a single customer purchasing a $1000 generator. Purchase took 10 min, so a long line formed behind me. Waits are common at this store. I never complained. After 10 min a second cashier arrived. The first cashier couldn't answer but the second one did as he overheard me. I was ready to purchase but had to pickup my old part, which took 20 sec. I returned to cashier 1 but a long line was still there, so I stood in line behind cashier 2 with no line. The first cashier ordered me to move to the end of her line. I asked her if I could stay in line at the second cashier, since I had already WAITED 10 MIN, and she knew it. She refused and ordered me to the end of her line. NOBODY DOES THIS! I did not want a scene so I walked out. Worst treatment in 40 years in Escondido . I went in first thing in the AM and bought a $109 set of assorted chucks for lug nuts. I asked if they were returnable and was told yes. I walked out to my truck, realized none in the pack would work and walked rigjt back into the store to return. I was out of the store three minutes total. Return guy, same guy who checked me put let's me k ow there is a $22 "restocking fee" what a freaking joke! I told him I can go put it back for $22 myself. Definitely won't be back for anything again. I understand if my item was Special Order, but a stock item that wasn't even opened, with receipt from a sale three minutes earlier is ridiculous. read more

I tried to purchase two LAGUNA 4-2/3 in., 125 lb. Dual Suction Cup Lifters today and the manager was unable to match an online price. I explained that what is shown online is identical to what the store has in stock. He couldn't match the online price regardless of appearance because a sku number is different. I explained that how was I supposed to know sku numbers matter when when the product appears the same. What's offered online is misleading to customers and even management won't honor something at the customer's request. I'll continue to shop at harbor freight but not at this location. read more

The membership thing is confusing. It used to be simple with coupons. Now there are coupons and membership coupons, deals and membership deals. It just feels like a bait switch here these days. They are also pushing this membership hard. I bought an item I thought was $6 but was actually $8 because I didn't have a membership. The clerk told me I of these savings if I pay $30 for the membership. Yes, he actually wanted me to pay $30 to save $2. Idk man...if I was buying something over $500 sure give me the info but there's a long line and obviously I'm not going to sign up with an $8 purchase. Unfortunately had a really bad customer experience here today. The line was getting long, so an employee came to open another register; they took the back half of the line to the new register. But then the cashier (Marianna) allowed two men to cut the line. After a few minute discussion she left the register. Over 20 minutes later she returned, meanwhile everyone in line just stood there waiting. We asked an employee on the floor if they could open another register and were told "we're doing everything else". A couple things I think would help in the future: 1. When opening a new line, take the next people in line who have been waiting the longest first. 2. When someone attempts to cut the line, redirect them to the back of the line. 3. When there are significant delays at the registers, pull the floor employees to check out. We won't be returning, Home Depot for us from now on. read more

Harbor freight, what can I say. I shop here all the time for cheap tools I'm only using once or twice. And deals on things like lights and car wash. I probably return about 5-10% of tools because they break quickly or are just crap. But that's what you're getting into. Never had a problem with returns. Make sure you check if there is a restock fee before you buy, and don't be surprised. And seriously, if you want quality, you need to pay two or five times as much down at Home Depot. I unde4rstand most of their tools are junk and I only buy there stuff I will rarely use but my experience buying sprayers there has been dismal, the first 2 gal sprayer I bought there started to leak after a few uses but since I was outside of the return window, I was stuck with it. I bought a second one and this time the pressure relief valve was leaking so the sprayer was not holding the pressure. I tried to return it to get an exchange but instead of just replacing it, they referred me to a website to apply for a return. Are these sprayers that much junk that they don't even exchange them in the store? I understand that they don't know what has been in them but in this case, just give the customer a new one and have the customer throw it away, which is probably what they will tell me to do if I even see a refund read more

I have spent at least $20,000 at Harbor freight in the past couple years at least couple years if not more. Built a mobile recording studio out of an RV soundproofed it did everything myself it's amazing it really is I am proud of that. And for power supply I was stupid enough to choose the cheaper option of going with Harbor freight generators and solar. Really can't say enough good things about this store, altho they may not have every tool made, they have most of them, but more importantly, especially when it comes to something like tools, they know their stuff, and not just one of the employees, but pretty much all of them. Here's the story, I had recently bought a small, cordless drill from Home Depot, where I knew more about the products than the employee (this is a common occurrence in Home Depots, and not because I'm a tool genius, but because you're usually hard pressed to find a knowledgeable employee in HD). I wanted to get a case for it and was told, at Home Depot that no such case existed. Enter Harbor Freight, this is where I wish I had gotten the employee's name because she was really great, personable, funny and knew her tools. I told her what I wanted and she suggested that we go over to their portable drill section and find one that was the same size as mine (as they don't sell Ryobi, the brand I had bought). We found a matching size drill and she brought it back across the store to the case section and proceeded to help me find the perfect size case for it. When I got home, my drill fit like a glove. And even as we were walking from the drills to the cases, a couple of other customers asked questions and rather than ignore them, she told them what she was helping me with and asked them to come along. Multi-tasking works (then again, she was a woman). She helped about five other people find what they were looking for while simultaneously helping me. I have bought many things online from Harbor Freight in the past, but rarely get into a brick and mortar store, this is by far my favourite outlet. Wow... customer service seriously lacking at this store today. Store manager was no where to be found! I was second in line and The cashier (Mariana) allowed a customer to cut the whole 15 person line, then she left for 20 min? Leaving the line confused. Another customer informed a store employee that she had left and he rudely replied "we are doing everything else." As soon as I heard that I dropped the $100 worth of tools I was going to buy and decided to never shop at this store again! Place has possibly every known tool made. There are no bounds to the tools they carry. I've purchased the usual bar clamp; screwdriver; jigsaw; cordless drill; etc. Looked at drill presses; bench sanders; and air compressers. Good selection as well. All the usual tools you would expect at a hardware store. But, also tools to fix my watch; sextant; brass compass; car repair parts. Like Walmart, most of the things here are made in China. So don't expect much quality for what you get. The prices are dirt cheap. So if you want to buy a tool to use once or twice, this is hte place. There are some jewels here. I've bought bar clamps that are some of the best i've used. Some items also carry a lifetime warranty. Its also fun to just look at all the tools :-) read more

It's good if you're in a pinch, but if it's something that your life depends on ( car jack / safety equipment / any type of electric saw) you probably want spend more for quality elsewhere. - The have coupons available every day ( in mailers, their website, and even in Smithsonian magazine) so cheap prices get even cheaper. They also have "free item" coupons but you have to find those the items in the store, which is a pain. - If you need something for a special job and will only use it a few times, then this is the perfect place. read more

I used to be in LOVE with Harbor Freight for years. But then the more reliable Chicago Electric brand tools began disappearing from their shelves and were replaced by Bauer brand. Make sure you ask for, Curtis the manager, because he is the only one there that knows anything about the products in the store. You will most likely be misled if you speak to anyone else. Today I wanted to buy a large tool box and had some logistics to figure out to get it. The manager Jazmine went above and beyond to help me even if her store did not get the sale. Harbor freight im rater disappointed in some of their policy but this store/Jazmine handled it well. When most retail associates would say no, Jazmine said "let me see what I can do". I shop here fairly frequently, and the staff at this location is very knowledgeable and helpful. I recently purchased a 21 gallon air compressor, and as it was my first I had a lot of questions. Sheryl came to my aid and helped direct me to the best compressor for my needs. I have been using this compressor now for a couple of months, and other than the noise I love using it. I wear ear muffs to save my ears....easy breezy. Having compressed air has changed the way I clean my bike and truck. So handy to be able to quickly blow away dirt or dry a just cleaned part. Really helps to blow away moisture on my smaller bike parts, chains, hubs, brake rotors. So convenient. Sheryl also helped me on another recent visit with more maintenance tips on how to care for my compressor. As well as adding a drop of lightweight oil (available here) to my tools before use to protect them. Awesome advice!! This place is great for cheap tools, even power tools. I've bought an air compressor, reciprocating saw, rotary tool and misc. other crap here, and for the price? It's great! Yeah it's all made in China, so we're not talking Craftsman quality here, but for the price, it's great for a tool that I won't use a whole lot. Keep an eye out for coupons in the mail and papers... there are some killer deals to be had! They also have some free item with purchase coupons too. My only complaint really is with the store itself... it's a bit of a mess and disorganized. When it's busy on a weekend, it can be a zoo and a pain in the ass to walk around in. Also, there is an employee that seems to be drunk quite a bit. I'll come back... especially if it's a tool I won't use too often. I have been an Inside Track Club member for over 5 years at Escondido and have bought a lot of tools. During this period Harbor Freight has NEVER honored the lowest price on anything I have bought. The fact is I am paying a membership fee for a premium discount and to be notified in advance of special sales events and even greater discounts on store specials. Before making a large purchase I spend many hours cross referencing my online HF deals, regular sales circulars, store special circulars, ITC catalog, HF phone texts and junk mail inserts. Most of the time the lowest price I find is not in the ITC magazine or special ITC coupons, but in an HF text. I usually bring my lowest price coupons to the store with me, but sometimes I forget. In these cases the store clerk looks up my membership but refuses to honor the lowest price I have; even when the coupons others used for this same discount are on the edge of the counter in front of them. What is truly upsetting though is seeing regular non ITC customers hand a newspaper coupon for a larger discount on the same tool. With all the HF ads I am already cross referencing; should I be paying for a newspaper subscription too? I don't think so. This is grossly unfair to ITC members who are paying $44.99 annual renewal for a premium discount they are not receiving. On a few occasions I have driven home disgusted by HF staff; and empty handed. If I still bought the tool though; I return a few days later with the coupon I forgot. HF has never refunded the difference. This makes ITC members suckers and fools. I have also seen regular customers ask for a supervisor or manager and then ask for a huge discount on a tool chest or other major purchase tools. HF and ITC coupons specifically exclude tool chests, jacks, air compressors, and a large number of other popular selling items. However, HF asks the buyer to sign up for a new ITC membership at a discounted $29.99 and then they apply the huge discount manually; often 30 or 35% off the lowest store price. There are quite a few people who live locally and bring friends when the store has an unadvertised special price on tool chests, jacks, engine cranes, etc. I see these new tools and chests listed on Craigslist all the time, and even at yard and garage sales on Saturdays when I head into town. Some Escondido residents are running businesses out of their homes and have sales almost every weekend loaded with Harbor Freight and Sears Craftsman tools. This just reinforces the fact that many longstanding renewing ITC members and Harbor Freight customers are suckers; and that those who exploit and really take advantage of HF are getting the best deals. I will no longer renew my membership with the ITC because of this. 2 weeks ago I came to town on Sunday instead; so I could get a bargain at the Parking Lot Clearance event. I was shocked to see nothing on sale and no high ticket items discounted above the usual advertised deals. The prices were the same as the Saturday before. What they did do was was put boxes outside on tables with small general low cost items which are often in the store at exactly the same price. You could not use an HF 20 or 25% coupon in conjunction with these prices. So in truth; there were no additional savings a regular customer or ITC member would naturally expect. The heavily advertised up to 92% off parking lot sales prices were simply not true. I asked for a supervisor / manager to discount a store returned jack which was missing the packaging, manual, etc. and he said no. According to HF comments online, HF puts out returned or reconditioned tools at parking lot sales events at steep discounts. Starting on Friday ( or Thursday) and ending on Sunday, these discounts are larger each day and can be up to 75% off the lowest price for new merchandise. Unfortunately at this store though they wouldn't even give a 1 cent discount. If that weren't bad enough, they wouldn't accept the 25% coupon I had either. Frustrated, I asked the HF gentleman to show me anything that was actually being clearance'd or discounted. He said there was nothing and that HF ITC membership only entitles members to early access to HF events and that it was the members responsibility to search their website and all available coupon sources for the best prices; since they can vary weekly in all the different ads. ITC membership terms are carefully worded so members will not receive any automatic discounts when they present their cards or give their phone number to the cashier. This is highly deceptive. Essentially ITC membership guarantees you will pay THE HIGHEST available retail price in most cases with absolutely no discounts. Clearly ITC membership is simply another marketing strategy except for the fact that you PAY for it and assume in error that you will get the discounts they advertise; or any so called exclusive advertised deals. As others have posted, do not buy an ITC membership. read more
