I would frequent this laundromat on a weekly basis and absolutely loved my experience. Please note, my shared experience is based on my many pre-COVID visits. As my clothes washed and dried, I sat with my phone plugged into the available wall sockets and watched a show or I listened to the show on the provided television. Funny thing is, this was the only place during our time in Boston where we interacted with someone who was potentially less-than friendly. The dude we dealt with certainly had his guard up, what do you want, that'll be $5, get outta my face kind of thing. A couple of minutes into the conversation, he realized that we weren't the usual tourists (I smile a lot). He started to smile a bit and said, "you know, east coast people get a bad reputation for being rude," he's like "don't worry about it or let it bother you." Haha! Love it! The washers are often broken, card machine is confusing, and employees are unhelpful. On more than one occasion I have shown up at 7:30, and it has not been open. The door states a 7:00 open time. Come here only if you have ample time to wait around to figure things out. read more

Had some cash, but you need two single $1 bills to buy not only their whatever it's called wash card, but another $2 for a money card, to transfer from credit card payments. Uh, k. Got change by buying a drink down the street, but didn't know I needed two more single bills for the second stupid card. They take credit cards, but only to put on the stupid money card. In the middle of 2 business trips I had to do laundry. Walked here from the Omni Parker House (about 15 min walk) and was surprised how clean and nice everything looked. This was by far the nicest Laundromat I had ever been to! Plenty of clean and new machines. The lady at the front was kind and explained how everything worked (you pay by laundry card, not coins). They have small and queen sized washers and dryers, so you can put a bunch of clothes in one load. You can also just drop off a bag and they will do your laundry for you. A little hard to find - there is no outside sign - and the door is literally on the corner, not the street. There is a 2nd entrance that clearly has windows showing the machines, but it is locked. When I called the phone inside to nobody picked up. But for all the indoor signage, there is not one directing new customers to the actual front door. I followed an experienced local around to the front door. The staff was friendly enough. The wrought iron chairs are uncomfortable to sit in to wait. Wifi is dog-slow. Like '90s slow. If you are here on business note that when I was here the card machines did not dispense a receipt. After asking about a receipt the lady at the front desk said "Sorry, out of paper." After she guessed I had just sat down to start to write this review, initially 3 Stars, she offered to create a hand written receipt for my business expenses. 4 Stars. read more

I've seen a lot of comments about customer service. It's not great. The employees are incredibly unhelpful. On another note, it's a laundromat. So I'm not necessarily looking for great service. I just want to do my laundry in a place that has good machines. And the machines here seem to be pretty good. Some are out of order, but my experience overall was good. I left with clean clothes, that looked, felt, and smelled clean. It's a bit on the expensive side but I'd rather use this place than some of the other cheaper but sketchy looking laundromats in the area. And the waiting area isn't bad either. The only reason this place gets any stars is because they take credit cards, and the machines are a variety of sizes. That being said, I am so appalled at the way I have been treated here that I am writing this review while my clothes dry. I came in, loaded my clothes in the washer and sat down. My cart (holding my detergent, delicates, purse and coat) started rolling away. I put my feet on my laundry bag in the cart to keep it near me. The crazy chain smoking lady who works here (no wonder my clothes never smell fresh) started screaming at me about how rude I am and disgusting that is. I apologized and explained the my feet were on MY stuff, not their cart. If she had been a little less rude, things would have been fine. Her response, "you are clearly the rude one here." Oh, btw, the last time I was here (which was my first time), I couldn't figure out how to add time to the dryers. She told me I was "stupid" and that she had "no idea how I made it this far in life not knowing how to work a dryer." Um, lady, your dryers are different...can you just show me? I really want to like this place. It's clean, it's shiny, it has TVs with sports on them. But I don't hang out there. I simply drop off my laundry, pay money, and pick it up. I roll it there in a damn full roll cart, give them my own soap (hey! cheaper for them!), and all I want in return is a quick transaction where I get my clothes back in the cart, clean, folded, and (hopefully) - I'm not treated like an a-hole. First - they (at least the one or two I mainly get to deal with) are ALWAYS outside smoking. Fine. But, when you see someone coming to unload - act like you care. If I had time, I'd stay there and do my own damn laundry. CREDIT CARDS - I get it - you want to be the Laundromat of the future - No Quarters! Well, that's great when your machines are working right and/or people know how to use them. I remember that learning curve. Two weeks in a row it took me over 15 minutes just to drop laundry off early in the AM. They won't start your stuff until you pay, but the guy can't work the machine? WTF? I thought I was over that, but once I had to sit down to write today, it turns out I'm not. SEPARATING LIGHTS AND DARKS - You have a sign there that says you do it on request. I asked once, and got complained at. I asked another time and was told they don't do that. PUTTING IT IN THE ROLL CART - Once you put all the laundry in the plastic bag, it no longer fits in the roll cart and i have to open the bag and one by one put it all in the cart. BUT - if you just stick the bag in the roll cart and THEN fill it...awesome. It took a while to get them to finally do it (I'm still not sure why), and it was great for a while...until today. Today, apparently, I'm an asshole cause I asked you to put a bag that is too heavy for me to carry without the cart. I'm on crutches. I can't carry the bag. This is the day you decide to go back to being rude?!? SERIOUSLY?!?! THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN - For $125 a month of my money - I expect you to not be rude. I'm not rude to you? When I dropped the laundry off and asked it be put into the cart so I could get it home, I was told "fine." Comments like "Well, there are other places you can go to instead." REALLY piss me off. I don't give a flying rat poot if you don't like your job. I can give you 5 people right now who would love to do it and have a paycheck. YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY MORE OF MY MONEY. read more

Five stars for a laundromat...but it earns them! First of all, no more hoarding quarters...thank goodness. Instead, you put money on your card (which only costs $1), either with exact change or a debit/credit card. I told the guy working there that it was my first time there (actually, he asked) and he was very helpful and nice in explaining how to get/load up a card and how to use the machines. When I first saw that the 20 lb. washers were $2.75, I had sticker shock, since I used to pay $2 at my old apartment for the same washers. However, I used one of the larger dryers to dry both loads of laundry, which only cost me $1.75, so I ended up paying about $7.25 to wash and dry both loads...not bad at all and less than my old apartment! That, and both the washers and dryers were very fast: about 25 minutes for the washers and 30 or so for the dryer. Laundry in less than an hour is my kind of laundry. Throw in some plasma TV's and laundry is almost enjoyable. read more

New Spin definitely lives up to its title. The concept is great, not having to hoard quarters to do your laundry anymore. Upon arrival, you purchase a little plastic card for a $1, which you then turn around and load with money via the machines on the walls which accept cash coin or cards. THEN, you use your pre-loaded card to pay at the washing machines and dryers! If you have extra money on your card, no big! Save it for the next time you come in. Its that simple. The place itself is super clean, and features an array of different sized washers to fit your load requirements. Lets face it, a lot of us out there DO NOT do laundry often. It's easier to rationalize the purchase of 5 new tops then to drag yourself to the laundromat to do a load. But hence, in theory, your laundry pile grows and then, in the end, you're stuck with a larger pile of clothes. SO, for those of us with a lot to wash, the super sized washers at New Spin are perf. New Spin has free wi-fi and lots of seating for those who chose to wait. Plus it only takes about 20 mins for a wash and 20-40 mins for a dry depending on how much cram into the dryer. I stuck 2 large loads into 1 dryer and it was finished in 20 mins.Me likey a lot. read more

First off, the facility looks great. I walked by to check it out before I had to do laundry and was impressed by the machines and how clean everything looked. I noticed the prices ($4.75 to wash and $1.00 to dry small loads...$9 for large washers) and that there were lots of machines out of order. Decided the convenience of the location was worth the money and brought a single load in. After buying a card that you load with funds (no coins allowed!) I got started. After the wash I had five new spins when trying to dry that load. 5. First one heated my clothes into a soaking wet, steaming mass. I decided to split the load into two machines, side by side, and they ended up running different length cycles (28 min vs 40 min). The 28 minute one was slightly damp so I checked the 40 and it was soaking wet and freezing cold. I took the clothes from the 28 home and asked the 40 minute clothes in a new machine. At least the lady at the desk was nice and gave me a free cycle but this whole process added an extra hour to my evening. Then I come back and the machine had an error message...ended up with my fifth dry cycle (second free one). I took the clothes home to fold and half had brand new stains on them. I would upload photos to this review if I could. Some of the clothes had the pattern of the drier drum (little dots) on them. Not happy. I'll be going elsewhere from now on. I have been doing my laundry at this place for about 6 months but after today's experience I am done with a New Spin. It is kind of expensive, about $4.75 per load than $1 for 20min of dryer time. I could live with the price because the machines are very fast. I can usually be in and out in about an hour. The reason I am not going back however is due to the service at this place. The woman that works there is absoultely insane. Today I asked her to help with the detergent machine and she rolled her eyes, scoffed, and said " C'mon you can't figure this out?" I then said I am sorry, I usually bring my own detergent. I essentially had to convince her to help me. After she decided to help me, I sat down and overheard he speaking to a friend(?) about President Obama. Her comments were borderline racist and were certainly not politically correct. The washers in my building's basement were broken, so I stopped by this pretty little laundromat on a Sunday afternoon to get some laundry done. Given my past experiences with laundromats, I expected the usual... big crowd (Sunday laundry) and consequently waiting for machines, unreasonably high prices, and the boring 2 hour wait while my clothes did their thing. Ohhhh how wrong I was. This place is, firstly, *impeccably* clean. Everything is clean. The floors, folding table tops, washers and driers. Feels like your own private laundry room. Secondly, there are SO many machines, that you have space, and I had absolutely no wait. Third - the cost is so reasonable. I did 2 loads of wash and 2 loads of dry for somewhere around $7. And fourth - my favorite - there is FREE WIRELESS. That's right people, free wi-fi at a laundromat, which you can't seem to get at your standard cafe. I spent my 90 or so minutes doing work, watching hulu, etc. Despite that I have laundry in my building's basement, I'll be going to A New Spin to get it done -- it's faster, surprisingly cheaper, and absolutely cleaner. read more

This place has gone downhill over the years. It used to hire young and pleasant (who I could only assume were college students) workers but that seems to have come to an end as now the only two individuals I ever see is a middle aged gentleman and woman. This would be fine on its own but their demeanor is much less pleasant (sometimes downright rude) and occasionally they are nowhere to be found. That being said, the facilities themselves are on the higher end of the spectrum: they have large machines; the place is kept clean and it's spacious; and you don't have to worry about quarters, they have a charge card system. Given all this, the price is fair (but a touch pricy). Lets just hope they can get some new blood in there to liven up the place. read more

No quarters needed! Put money (cash or credit) on their cards (cards cost a buck) and get washing! The washing machines are pretty cheap and they have big and small sizes. Same for dryers which are a buck a minute. Very clean, attendent on duty always and a huge HD TV while you wait. Takes under an hour though to finish washing and drying, so read a book! Or walk to any of the restaurants/shops on Salem Street since it's so close. read more

The 2 ladies working there were so nice! One helped me purchase my wash card, and walked me through starting the machines. She even helped me again when it was time to do the dryer. Super nice and helpful! And when I forgot a bag when I left, I called back and they found it and held it for me until I returned. The place was very clean and machines worked perfectly and quickly. Really a great laundromat. I have only done self serve, never drop off, so I can not give much insight into that service. Though I have other places a little closer to me, I always make the trek to New Spin for the following reasons: - Machines are extremely fast, approx 25 min to wash and around the same to dry - Everything is electronic so you don't have to worry about quarters! - Good atmosphere - clean, well lit, nicely decorated, large TVs provide entertainment, beautiful building and windows to look out on the bustling intersection - Wireless internet - great to get work done! - Helpful staff that are fun to chat with read more

The hours posted are misleading. The sign on the door says they are open until 11:00 pm but the man who works there LOCKS THE DOOR at 9:30. He won't let you in to do a wash even if you don't plan on drying it. The wash cycle is about 20 minutes- so if he were to let you in to run a wash you would be out by 10:00 and they are supposedly open until 11:00.... its bizarre. Equally frustrating is trying to do a wash early in the morning- again the sign on the door states the hours as one thing but the reality is different. The sign says they open at 7:00 am but I have never been able to get in there before 7:20. read more

I'm not going to break the streak of 5-star reviews: this place is awesome! I love the fact that you use a card instead of quarters. And there are TVs everywhere and WiFi. I could actually watch the Patriots, and the experience was possibly better than my TV at home (kinda pathetic I guess). The loads are a little more expensive than coin-op laundries in the area (or in my building), but you can fit a lot more into the HE washers and dryers too. So, in the end, it's a wash (bu dum). read more

You do have to buy a wash card but that seemed to be the standard in Boston. The employee had a extra one laying around so he let us load our money onto it to use for the machines. I started doing laundry here because I realized it was actually less expensive for multiple large loads than the other quarter-only places in the neighborhood. After a year or so of perfect laundry day experiences, I have to ask: if you don't do your laundry here, why the hell not? The service is great, there's cool art, it's "green," and it's right across the street from the Beanstock. In the time it takes to go across the street, get a coffee and drink it, your wash is ready to be moved to the dryer and you probably payed less and spent less time doing it. This place is awesome and convenient. -While I've heard some customers complain that they don't like the "card system", I love it. I'm not a fan of carrying around coins, so the cards are extremely helpful and easy. the prices are reasonable for being in the city...and they have a great variety of washers. Their dryers are also pretty great too. -Recently I've been just dropping off the laundry and it's around $11.50 which isn't bad at all for drop-off. The staff always gets it done in a timely fashion so I've never had a problem. -Very clean. -Only downside is that sometimes when I go to drop off my laundry, the attendant is nowhere to be found...so I'm left standing around for 10 mins waiting for someone. We are never coming back to this place again after today. We've been doing our laundry here (both self service and wash and fold) for the past year and the young lady here has always been polite and helpful. This review is for the older lady with glasses. I know that they get busy on weekends so I usually call in advance to check if they can still take same day wash and fold if I go on a Sunday. Called today and the older lady said yes, they can still do same day. I walked in with my laundry 5min later, and she said they "may or may not be able to do it today and will only know later in the afternoon". I asked if I could leave my laundry there, and come in in the afternoon to either do it myself or pay then if they could do it. She insisted that I pay $27 for wash and fold, otherwise there's no space to keep my laundry in their closet. Well, so basically asking me to pay for wash and fold that they may or may not be able to deliver. I tried to make the point that we come every weekend and I was running late for something and would really appreciate it if I could leave my laundry there and come back in the afternoon, and she simply laughed, looked away, and pointed to there payment policy on the wall. How rude. Ended up paying for it cuz I was running late for something. But we will go somewhere for laundry from now on. read more

I didn't want to leave a negative Yelp review and tried to resolve my issue by contacting New Spin directly but given the lack of response I am here. I've read other reviews about this same issue and it's extremely frustrating to bring your laundry here for drop off service only to be continuously told (by the older woman with glasses) that the weighing machine doesn't work. If it's an issue with having too much to do and can't get it done the same day, just say so and I'd be fine with picking it up the following day. She's extremely rude and dismissive and after the third time I've lugged my laundry there to be told it can't be done, I will no longer be coming to this establishment. I also see that they are going to soon have dry cleaning services but wondering how that will work when they can't even provide regular services. Might want to get more or a better employee to handle this as the other woman is lovely but I can't take my chances anymore. Rant over. read more

While in Boston in June, our laundry was in dire need of a wash. I wasn't planning to use the laundry services at the hotel because of the ridiculous prices, and so the hotel recommended A New Spin Laundry. It was a convenient taxi ride from my hotel. The laundromat itself was very clean, and the woman working there was very friendly and helpful! You need to purchase a card and then put money on the card before running the machine. It is a not a coin-operated laundromat. The location is also great because while your laundry is running you can walk around to all the adorable bakeries and boutiques. If we're ever in that area again, I would definitely go to New Spin if needed. read more

This place needs to get it together. I've been going here for years and it's really gone downhill. Half the dryers and a few of the washers are broken. If you go there when it's busy it's a total clown show. The bigger washing machines have a terrible spin cycle so your clothes come out dripping wet and have no chance of drying in one cycle. The smaller washers are better but sometimes using the big machines are unavoidable because all the small ones are in use or reserved for wash & fold service. The actual facility is quite nice, located in a beautiful old building on Salem street. They use a card system which is way better than feeding quarters. However it's gotten to the point where I bring my clothes to another laundromat down the street on the weekends because the experience at New Spin has gotten so bad when it's busy. They obviously do great business, would it kill them to invest in repairing the broken machines?? read more
