Staying on Beacon Hill while a family member was in the hospital at MGH. They had a bathrobe and had an accident with it. I needed to get it cleaned and returned that day. MAI was very accommodating and nice about just washing the one item and making sure I could get it before the end of the day since she would be closed for several days after that. I dropped my clothes off on a Saturday and was told to return Monday at 10 am to pick up the clothes. I came by at 11 am and initially was told they couldn't find my clothes. After looking for 5 min, they told me to come back in an hour because they were "delayed". Frustrating and unreliable service. read more

Went on a Saturday late morning expecting it to be very busy -- there were a lot of orders, but the shopkeeper was kind and helpful while juggling a lot! Got clothes back same day within hours, right at the estimated time given to me by the clerk. She also answered my call asking about the status of my clothes. Very friendly one-woman show. This place accomplishes everything I want in my dry cleaning service: friendly, finish articles when they say they will, and reasonably priced. The lady who works there always greets me by name, and not only does she do a great job cleaning clothes (got out a huge blood stain in a white dress shirt, for example), but she has also been fantastic at sewing/patching clothes for me. I dropped off a suit jacket to be fixed (sleeve had a rip). I checked back in two weeks as requested and it wasn't complete. I checked back in another week, it wasn't complete. I checked back a few weeks after that... it wasn't complete... I was busy and forgot about it so I checked back in a couple of months... not complete... I checked back a few days ago (almost a year later), still not done. When I stated I was moving the reply was, I didn't know you were moving." I replied, "I dropped it off almost a year ago." Response, "oh, come back tomorrow and I will have it done for you" I asked to just have it back and she wouldn't give it to me, insisting it would be done by the next day. WHAT!!! I drop it off and it takes a year to complete something she can magically do in one day?! Shame on me for not throwing a fit 10 months ago. She also overcharged my significant other $10, claiming he owed her (which he didn't) when she learned he was moving and It would be his last laundry pickup. read more

I live around the corner and use Suds and Duds for dry cleaning and random clothing repairs for the past two years. They know both me and my husband by name - and have started greeting my dog too. We have had a great experience here - it's convenient, the prices are competitive, and I appreciate that the lady who runs it is very vocal about when our items will be ready for pick up. We've been using Suds & Duds for years. I feel that many of their reviews here on Yelp are outdated and don't capture level of service provided. The Suds and Duds staff never have to check the receipt to know our name, or to find our items. The dry cleaning and laundry services are well done, and I am delighted with their tailoring and alterations work too. read more

I would give Suds & Duds negative stars if I could. I dropped off a blazer and a silk blouse about a week ago. When I went to pick them up 2 days ago, the blazer had white hairs all over it and the silk blouse still had a stain on the sleeve. It looked like they had pressed the garments and, in doing so, set the stains. When I pointed this out, the woman who works there was quick to offer a re-cleaning. I picked up my clothes yesterday, still unsatisfied with the cleaning of the blouse. To me, $12 for two items should buy you much better service, Beacon Hill or not. When I got home, I decided to check out the other things I had dropped off in weeks past. It turns out that they managed to tear half of the seam of a sleeve on one of my dresses that I sent in for a simple dry cleaning..... Avoid this place at all costs! read more

I'm mostly mad at myself for continuing to give them a chance because the people who work there are so friendly. Nothing is ever ready when they promise. I've just started going 2-3 days after they tell me to pick up and expecting only a 50% chance that my items are finished. The cleaning and alteration work itself is fine and the prices are comparable to other places in the neighborhood. It's just worth walking 2 blocks in any direction to another dry cleaner if you actually want to the garment back sooner than 1.5 weeks for a simple hem. read more

I want to like them. They are one block away from my apartment and sooo convenient. The woman who works there is really sweet. However, every time i pick up my laundry, OTHER PEOPLE'S CLOTHING are in my bag as well. I continue to bring things back to her (and she smiles and laughs and says, "oohhhhh, sorry!"), but it is a pain. Plus, why is some other lady's sports bra and underwear with my things? I am not so naive as to think that my clothes haven't also "gone missing" but it is entirely hard to keep track of everything I bring for laundry. This place is the worst!!!! I live just down the street so it's very quick and easy to get to, but they just never get it right. They are always late returning my garmets and forget details. The first time I took my clothes there they were two days late. They also forgot to fix the zipper on one of my pants. The next time I went there my clothes were over a week late(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and they forgot to put a botton on one of my pants. One time they told me to come back any time after 5:00 to get my clothes but when I showed up at 6:10 they were closed (they're usually open until 7:00). I flew out of town the next morning at 4:30 so I had to wait five extra days before I could get my clothes. The last time I went there the lady told me three different times to come back later. Well, two days later my clothes were finally done. The quality of the work they actually complete is decent at best but definitely not worth what it costs. I am definitely going to keep searching for a better dry cleaner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
