Just returned from an antagonistic trip to Prince St Laundry. Let me begin by saying they charge $2.00 per wash in a machine that barely holds more clothing than a sink. Let me continue by saying that I'm fantasizing about laundering a suitcase full of rocks in said machine because of how rude their staff is. Oh, and you get a measly five minutes of dryer time for each quarter you're willing to spend. Hooray. Let me spend $20 and an entire afternoon waiting for my clothes to get clean in your hovel. I would sooner drag my clothing to Back Bay Laundromat because at least they have decently-sized commercial machinery and they don't rob you blind by charging extra for the convenience and, dare I say it, classless ambience offered in their pseudo-kitch, wretchedly-colored, Murphy-bed-esque dump of a room. I will never go back. read more

Doing laundry became slightly less of a chore after I started going to Prince St. For one, it's several blocks closer than the laundromat I used to go to. Second, the number of dryers is pretty close to the number of washers, which was also a problem at my last laundromat - too many people waiting around with wild looks in their eyes to snag the next free dryer. Plus, the dryers actually dry everything thoroughly. The prices are pretty typical for the neighborhood (at least to my knowledge). My favorite part about this laundromat, though, is the woman who owns it. Catch her on the right night and she'll talk you ear off... in Russian. You can catch a few words in English every now and then, but even with the language barrier she's fun to talk to. Plus she's super nice, especially if she recognizes you as a regular. The only downside to the place is the lack of seating if you decide to wait out the cycles there. Luckily, though, most people seem to drop off their laundry or go elsewhere while they wait, so I've never been deprived of a chair. Plus there's a huge bin of magazines to read, which might not be a flat-screen tv, but works for me. read more

I needed a quick wash on a pair of jeans and found this laundry mat. They have drop off for a minimum price of $9, but told me just to wash it myself to save money. They had change, were so helpful, and had a nice, clean place to pass the time. Granite tables for folding! Clean! No wifi. $2.50 for small washer, $3.25 for front loader. Reasonable dryer prices! read more

I would give Prince st laundry 6 stars if I could. Mama Rose, the Portuguese lady that works there, folds my t-shirts and boxers so tight and hangs any wrinkle-free shirts right after they come out of the dryer. read more

The best wash & fold (drop off service) in the North End. Price is great. Service is excellent. The owner remembers you by name even if you go weeks without seeing her. Honestly, I have trouble understanding the owner's mother, but she's a sweetheart. Do not waste your time trying anywhere else (they are either too expensive, or the service is horrible). I recently moved from Unity to North Sq and so had to hunt for a new laundromat to replace my beloved Waterfront with its ancient pop songs (Love Will Lead You Back!). I figured Lan's was the closest and meant I didn't have to cross Hanover with all the tourists staring at my bag o' undies. Lan's was BAAAAD. Just, uh uhhh. Uh uhhh. No. I've been going to Prince ever since. Best part is all the machines work and do their thing. No 15 quarters to dry one load. I think the ratio of dryers to washer is a tiny skewed with a few more washers than dryers. Initially I was worried it may lead to street fights over dryers. But since the dryers are efficient and people get their loads out after the 24 min cycle or whatever, I've never had a problem. The owners and operators are nice and pleasant. After months of going, I am recognized as a regular and they always say hello and are generally nice. Machines that work. Nice people running the place. What more could you ask for. read more

Oh Prince Street Laundry, how I love thee. I have tried several different laundries around the N. End for drop off as I don't have laundry in my building and enjoy not having to worry about spending hours in a laundromat. Admittedly I have not actually sat down to do laundry there so I can't speak to that experience. I enjoy seeing Isabelle (the older woman who is there all the time during the week) in the morning. She and I have conversations about the weather, the neighborhood, etc. She is always delightful and now knows me and makes me feel welcome and seems to appreciate my business. At some of the other laundries I felt like a burden and was being annoying since I was doing drop off. I am willing to walk the extra distance from my apartment to go to Prince Street as I get reliably good service at a good price. read more

I love Prince Street laundry! The machines are very efficient. I usually only pay about 75 cents for the dryer because it works so quickly. The Portuguese women who own the laundromat are very nice, and the turn around time for drop-off is impressive. read more
