I needed to add another driver onto my rental agreement so popped into this Avis location to get this done. The reviews were not mistaken, as the lady that helped us provided great customer service. Unfortunately she was not able to add the second driver for just two out of the six days that I requested, and I had to pay an additional $65 to have an additional driver for the duration of the rental (other places will do this free of charge), but this is more of a corporate thing and not due to lack of service by the rep. We were in and out within 5 minutes - she made everything very easy and convenient.

Its a freaking LONG drive!! But I called Longhorn and told them about my concerns and their pricing was much better than U-Haul or Penske or even one way trips from Vegas to Austin. I have to say they did great with customer service in every way...I told them I had one hell of a trip coming up with 20hrs there and back and over 40hrs driving and here's what I rented and what they did to the truck before I rented it to make sure by trip was safe and without problems. - 15 ft, 2019 Box Truck with only 40,000 miles - New front tires - New brakes - Oil change - Diesel fuel and diesel exhaust fuels both full And they gave me their repair tech's cell number to call anytime on the road in case of problems or concerns. Seriously I got treated very well and I just finished my grueling three day drive and dropped the truck off. Also went through a snow storm in AZ around Flagstaff and this truck handled just fine thanks to the new front tires they put on for me. The miles I paid were 15 cents a miles compared to way over 70-90 cents a mile charged by U-Haul or Penske and the rental was very affordable and also my Geico Insurance covered the truck no problem at no extra charge. This is my 5 STAR review for Longhorn Rentals since I have read so many bad reviews on here and I had a really quality experience renting from them! My advice, make sure you know that the truck you are renting has good tires, oil change, good care and give Longhorn a try since they are priced way better than other truck rentals and their customer service rocked!

I booked my rental reservation using the number I thought was for the Enterprise that had a shuttle with that location but the day before I was to pick it up I got a call (on a Sunday) saying that location did not have a shuttle or transport to that body shop location. I then had the right direct line because of the email confirmation and called the location. They transferred me to this location to move the reservation that same day but this location also didn't have a shuttle service BUT Nick Knight was very helpful and said they would do me a solid and make sure someone could pick me up so I didn't have to be routed to yet another location! Even though they were short staffed that day (a few folks had called in sick), they picked me up, got me a good comparable car, set up me up with a decent rate, and when I returned it made sure the rate was adjusted to 4 days vs. the 5 days the system was quoting me. And one of their employees who didn't technically work at that location but was there for some admin because he helps with their luxury rental line, took me back to Caliber to pick up my car since they were short staffed. I really appreciated them trying to make things easier for me despite the challenges they were facing and everyone did it with a cool and easy attitude! Hard to do these days, so I was extra appreciative of the team that worked there.

To offer a review of this place that has nothing to do with Uber rentals or one-off events like the…read more2021 winter storm: this is arguably the best place to rent a car in Austin proper (meaning not at the airport). If you're an Avis Preferred member - which is free & highly recommended, although you can't simply head straight to the vehicle and drive off, as is the case at most of their American airport locations - they usually have a vehicle set aside & ready to go (and always have with me personally each time I've rented there). Just FYI, on-site car rentals at Austin's airport (along with most others across the U.S.) cost more because cities tend to add sizable "convenience fees" (a.k.a. taxes) to vehicles rented by visitors instead of locals. In some cases the taxes/fees alone can exceed the entire rental expense! Definitely not the case here. It does, however, have two drawbacks: the facility is quite small (a literal converted gas station, meaning the old-school variety with a cramped waiting area), and the area's a little dicey at night given its proximity to a number of homeless encampments (though nothing like the situation when Austin rescinded its ban on camping, plus it's not even open at night, unless you're doing an after-hours drop-off).

It was returned fully fueled and in the same clean condition as we received. The Avis employee who accepted the vehicle made no mention of any cleaning issue and provided no inspection or documentation showing the vehicle was dirty or damaged. We believe this charge is unjustified and request that the $250 fee be removed. Two other people in our group also rented from Avis and also received bogus cleaning fees. We are escalating these charges with credit card company. I've never had a problem before with any rental car company. This is ridiculous. We rented based on Costco's recommendation. That was mistake.

I took an Uber there and arrived just at 8:00 when they opened (I needed to get to work) and I was immediately greeted by a friendly face of an employee there. They were super helpful and kind and got me all set up with a nicely maintained, clean car within 20 minutes. As I was waiting, I witnessed several interactions with the employees and customers and they were knowledgeable, professional and kind. One of the employees was training the other and they both still had time to get everyone taken care of quickly. I'm a recruiter so I notice these things and I'll admit it- I was really tempted to try and recruit these two! Today I called because I needed to extend my rental and again received the kind, knowledgeable, courteous service I received when I first went in.
