This is strictly for the Avis located in Round Rock, Texas. I rented a car in San Diego and drove to the Cedar Park/ Round Rock area of Texas. I had problems with the car when I got to Texas and needed to swap it out before I headed back to SD. I made many calls with no one really wanting to help me out. When I called the national phone number, they provided no help. I found the Avis in Round Rock and Zack immediately started helping me. He actually stayed late on Saturday afternoon to make sure that I had a different car before heading back home. Zack was friendly, courteous and took care of all the paperwork I needed to exchange cars. A special "thank you" to Zack for helping me out. Have rented 2 cars and have gotten about 30 min to an hour into my trips and have had to turn around and bring them back because warning light have come on. They refused to give any kind of discount even though it was there fault for renting a car that should not have been rented or even on the road. Very rude and un professional service. Tried to go online to make a reservation and couldn't, called then to try and do it over the phone and they say they can't do it. So basically can't even make a reservation. April 3, 2022 we had a car reserved for pick up at 2pm. Which shouldn't have been a problem since the hours state open til 3pm. Our Uber driver got lost and we arrived 10 min late at 210pm this location was closed. More customers arrived to pick up cars and no one was there to help us. We call the location number but no one answered. We called AVIS but they said there was nothing they could do. I asked to please ensure we could still get the car the next day and they assured us no problem for pick up on April 4. We called repeatedly to this location for 2 hours before someone answered and told us they had no car. This is the worst company and I do NOT recommend them. Go somewhere else or just Uber which turned out to be alot cheaper than the car would have been. read more

I haven't ever had an issue with AVIS and have used them numerous times over the last couple of years. This last rental return was very different than my previous experiences with AVIS. I called AVIS to extend the rental I had for 1 additional day. When the location didn't answer, I was directed to customer care and was given a total price (taxes and fees included) by the agent for adding the additional day. At drop-off, I was charged more than the amount given to me at the time of the extension. That is not acceptable to me. Especially after being given an exact price that I would be charged. I would NEVER VISIT this place again! NEVER EVER! Very unprofessional. The store had over 30 mostly dead crickets covering the floor. They should have more pride in their occupation and store and clean it up for customers so we aren't stepping over dead bodies strategically to get to the desk. Irritating as well was the fact that the desk agent never removed his wired ear buds throughout my entire time in the store. I waited nearly 20 minutes for him to checkout another individual who arrived moments before I did. Her frustration grew with every second as he didn't know the answers to any of her questions, even the simplest questions. She asked if there was a grace period on the rental return time, since he rounded backwards on her pick-up time and she technically lost a half hour of her rental, simply dealing with him. Then he stated, "I'm new to this job, I used to just wash cars in the back." After he took her out to the car, he came back in and the first thing he said was- "You didn't make your reservation today did you?" I immediately thought: You let me wait here almost 20 minutes and never felt a more appropriate time to ask that question!!!!???? I said yes and he said we don't have any cars for reservations made today!! I could've screamed! I was on the hunt for a new car. I had my mind made up that I wanted a 2016/17 Nissan Maxima. Through cargurus.com I found one with 21000 miles on it and my fave color blue...for $21000. A new Maxima is ballpark $33-37000 off the lot. So, I drove to San Antonio to test drive the car. The only reason I'm taking a star off is because they didn't inform me I would have to technically rent the car for those days...although if I bought it, that charge would be refunded. We decided to purchase the car. I've bought quite a few vehicles in my life and it's always a headache. This was amazing. We filled out one piece of paper so they could find financing. Two hours later, financing was done and we owned the car. No haggling, no twenty pages to fill out...just awesome. I highly recommend trying them out if you're thinking of getting a used car!! Don't look at their overall rating. The old management earned them that rating. They are under new management now and it has gone very downhill. Allow me to explain. Used to love this location. Old management was awesome. They were friendly and offered upgrades when available. Two months ago it was taken over by new management. My first visit there, I overheard the new management saying negative things to the customers about the old management. Not very professional, but whatever. However, this unprofessionalism carried over to just about every experience I had with them. They are the closest location to me, so I wanted to give them a chance. Unfortunately, they've fallen way short. Here are my expectations when I rent a car. 1) A car is waiting for me 2) It has a full tank 3) The tires are inflated to a safe PSI 4) I'm treated with friendly customer service That's not too demanding. The head guy there has a really bad personality for customer service. He's not friendly. He's disinterested in what is going on. Has no sympathy for a customer if they are late for a reservation. He possesses the opposite skills of what you need to be in the customer service industry, yet some how he was given an Avis franchise. After five rentals with this new franchise (all of which had issues ranging from low tires, tanks that weren't full, to vehicles that smell like smoke, to them saying they open at 8:00AM but nobody showing up until 8:20) I got an email in my inbox from Avis Corporate to leave a review about my experience at this location. I decided to be honest and leave constructive criticism. In my most recent reservation, I was late (my fault), but they gave my car away to someone else and didn't seem to care that sometimes you're late to things. Not a phone call asking me if maybe I was just running behind. In the couple hundred rentals I've had with Avis, this is the first time I've been late to a reservation. I've learned not to call them after I've personally witnessed other customers at their location explaining that they tried to call them when they were late, but this location never answered the phone. I've personally experienced unanswered phone calls in the couple times I've tried to reach them. So let's get back to my constructive criticism that I left to corporate. When I returned my most recent reservation, they confronted me about the review I left. As someone who has been in customer service for the last decade and a half, I was expecting them to say something like "sorry you didn't have a great experience. We will work to get better" or something that a reputable company would do. Nope. That's not what happened. Some woman that I've never seen there before came out and told me that if I wasn't happy with their service that I should never come back there and take my business elsewhere. I was a bit surprised by her response. I never once raised my voice and kept my composure but was definitely taken aback by that response. You would think that was the end of it, right? Nope. I had my ringer off on my phone. When I left Avis and got home, I saw that I missed a call and had a voice mail. I listened to it and this is what I heard. "Hello this is Dalia (spelling??), after reviewing your complaint about this store in Round Rock, the owner (Tim) would like you to go somewhere else where they can assist you better, and not come back to our store. Take your business somewhere else where they have a better car and better service." I guess thanks for making that decision easy. I won't. Perhaps there is a customer out there that feels like being a burden to the company that serves them is the right way to do business, but that customer isn't me. If you're reading this review, I cannot recommend this Avis location at all. Their customer service is terrible. You'd really be better off taking your business anywhere else. Take their advice! They don't want your business! I never raised my voice with them or anything. Just wrote a review that Avis Corporate asked me to and triggered them. I guess we met Mark on a bad BAD day...if that even is the name of the manager we dealt with this afternoon; you see, he never introduced himself. We have never rented from Avis and if this experience is any indication, we will NEVER rent from them again. We rented a car for business and have to drive to Canada. I know, I know, pretty far from Texas but hey, that's what happened. We called customer service several times in advance to inquire about the form one needs in order to drive a rental car into Canada. We have to have it or we can't do our job. We were reassured multiple times the form is no big deal and they could print one out at the store. Fine. So it was understandably frustrating when we show up and the guy at the counter has no idea what we're talking about. He looked at us like we were speaking a foreign language, but when the manager (Mark?) came in to "help" is when things really went south fast. The manager was THE POLAR OPPOSITE of anything even remotely like helpful. Instead of providing customer service, or making any specific suggestions, he said we would just have to drive around "somewhere in the northern part of the country" until we found an Avis that had the form we needed. Really? Did he even try to suggest a specific location? No. Did he offer to call a location to fax us the form so we had it and wouldn't have to deal with this extra hassle on a business trip? No. Did he act friendly about it? Absolutely not. I said I'm sure it's rare but it's bound to happen sometimes that a person from Texas would need to do such a thing, and he argumentatively said no that never happens ever. Okay, well it's happening now, so please try to behave like an adult and help your customers who just told you they are doing it. Nope. Obviously we were frustrated at being told the wrong thing, since we called and triple checked before we rented there, all of which we explained to him, but his behavior went from unhelpful to aggressive. He was literally slamming papers around and banging on the keyboard like an angry child which echoed through the office making it obvious how angry he was for having to deal with us because we need a form he didn't have. All of this was happening in front of my seven-year-old son, just by the way, so a great role model for kids. My husband waited inside the store while they just stopped helping him... no, "it'll be a minute" or "we'll wait while you call customer service," which I did. Customer service asked to be put on the phone with the store manager. I gave the manager my phone, and he then proceeded to basically chew out his own company's customer service guy about this form! Wow. I took the phone back after it was clear this was going nowhere. He didn't say anything. My husband asked him why he was being so rude and unhelpful, obviously also frustrated. Finally I told them both to calm down because it suddenly felt like I was in the Wild West and someone was going to challenge someone to a duel. I said, "LOOK IT'S JUST A FORM CAN WE ALL CALM DOWN PLEASE" because, again, my boy is standing there and the attitude was getting insane. Then the manager just stopped talking. We stood there. He kept slamming things around. Finally my husband asked if he was still going to rent us the car? Did we need to fill out any forms? Did he need our credit card? The guy's face turned red like a Looney Tunes character and I wondered briefly if his head was going to explode. He snapped with a snarky reply/attitude and angrily slapped the forms on the counter, explaining things as sarcastically and curtly as possible. I have no idea half of what he said because he said it all so fast. He went and got the car, and my husband at least checked for dents and dings. My husband never signed the rental form either by the way. Where it says "customer signature" on our form is a signature that isn't his. Our last name doesn't end with "tz" for starters. So there's that. Should've filmed this and put it on YouTube. Seriously. As we were leaving, my husband said, "Have fun slamming your keyboard around" because by that time we were both angry at being treated like this over a stupid form. I tried to be nicer about it, saying, "I hope your day gets better," which I sincerely meant because wow, if that's all it takes to set the guy off, I sure hope he doesn't own a firearm. His sarcastic response? "It will be in a minute!" Meaning, it will be when WE leave. Nice right? Yeah. He was a real nice guy. Made me wonder how his mother raised him to treat strangers so utterly rude for such a piddly reason. I don't know what the charge will be to drop this car off at a different Avis location so I don't have to deal with the manager at this location, but I will gladly pay it twice. That guy is a poster child for anger management classes. He needs seriously help. I'm pretty sure they make pills for the way he acted. He needs to get a freaking grip. Will. Never. Go. Here. Ever. I like to keep the miles off of our cars so when we travel, we rent. I used to just go to Travelocity and see who had the best rates on renrals. One of those times it took me to Avis and I selected this location because it was closest to my house. Since that time about two years ago, I have rented from this location probably a dozen times for various trips. Why? To answer that question you need to go there yourself on your next rental and talk to Marc, the owner. He's a great guy and always takes care of his customers in a personalized way that you can't find any other rental location... at least not the ones that I have been too. Marc and his crew always take care of you both from a service perspective and from a price perspective. One trip in particular we got rear ended on the way out of town. We had a long drive ahead of us and so as you can imagine we weren't very happy about it. After taking care of all of the insurance information, we drove right over to this Avis location and after some friendly ribbing about me wrecking his cars, Marc had us in a new vehicle lickety-split. Dropped off my rental car at this strip mall location, but to my surprise Mark, the manager, said he could not give me a local ride for 30 minutes, despite the fact that there were 4 people working and no customers waiting. My destination was 5 minutes away. However, their busy work such as washing cars and typing in the computer seemed more important than providing the Local Pick-Up Service that was listed on the wall. While waiting for a taxi (which took , I was solicited by a ticket broker who either works there or is buddies with one of the employees. Make sure you call at least 24 hours in advance if you need local drop off service. The taxi they called started the meter at $10 so be careful. read more

The people who own and staff this location are unprofessional and uninterested in providing anything resembling customer service. My wife and I only own one car, and we used this place twice out of necessity when I needed a car to go out of town for work. On my first experience there in 2016, I walked in to find this zippy young guy sitting behind the desk staring at his computer monitor like a bored school kid. He looked like he'd just rolled out of bed, and he didn't even look up when we walked in. On purpose, I said in a loud voice that we needed to pick up our rental, but he barely even looked up at us. He acted annoyed and more than a bit triggered the whole time he was handling our rental. He even asked if this old car parked out front was mine, like he was trying to find some way to take a verbal dig at me. When we dropped the car off, he looked at the mileage and asked where I'd gone in a really snotty tone, to which I replied, none of your ****ing business. And yet, for reasons of convenience, I used this location again in 2019. On our second trip, there wasn't even anyone in the reception area of the store. We waited for about 10 minutes, and finally I placed a call to Avis to find out what was going on. Finally, this guy walks in the from the back like he's an angry dad who's coming out to see who's knocking on the door. He acted annoyed that we were there, and even had the gall to ask why we called Avis. When I told him we'd been waiting for 10 minutes on him to show, he claimed that he was out back washing cars. Right. Needless to say, this visit didn't go any better, and returning the car brought claims that we were "late," even though I had paid extra to have a drop-off time other than noon. In short, stay away from this location at all costs. It's more hassle than it could ever be worth. In general, the airport is the best place to rent, but if you must rent in the suburbs, find some place other than this. read more

I took off work early to return the Pathfinder - which was amazing by the way. We had it cleaned out and I got it washed. I arrived there about 5:50pm and they had already closed down. I know we were cutting it close, but when the hours open clearly state 6pm you should honor that. My wife and I wasted quite a bit of time for nothing. The employee I returned it to the following day flat out denied that they had closed earlier than 6. He also did not even look at the vehicle....so if you must use them, please keep this in mind. I've been renting cars from this location for 15 years. The previous owner was perfect ! We own junky vehicles so every time we go on a road trip or put one of our cars in the shop we rent here. New owner - not the same experience. My water bottle opened and some water got on the seat. She told me I was going to have to pay to have the car detailed - FOR WATER! I said heck no. She argued with me. I said water dried - NO. When I picked the car up I pointed out a rock chip on the front windshield. She said oh it's just bird poop. It'll be fine. 6 days later the chip turned into a crack and she told me I'd have to pay for it. I said heck no! She argued with me. The previous owner NEVER harassed me about anything. I prepaid for this rental but when I returned they tacked on extra fees. $50 misc charges ? Vehicle license recoup $1.95 per day & energy recovery fee .60 per day. What a scam! Previous owner never would have done this. I will be disputing all the extra charges and never use this location again. I can't believe they rip you off like that. I trusted the previous owner. It's sad when you use a business 10 to 15 times per year for probably 15 years and now we'll have to start using Enterprise. read more

I had made my trip from Austin TX to Minneapolis MN and rented from Hertz. I was returning my rental and accidentally went in to the Avis return at the Mpls airport. They lady that checks the cars in said I was at the wrong location that I needed Hertz rental. So when I asked if I could get through to get back out she replied "you will need to back out the way you came in !! So I did just that and backing out did not see any signs that would indicate going the wrong way would cause tire damage. Well guess what?, it did just that and flattened both tires on the right side of the vehicle. Now for those of you that have used these services know, you sign a contract that holds you responsible for any damage to the vehicle including tires !! Because of the ignorance of that Avis employee I missed my flight back to TX that day due to the time spent waiting to get somebody to help me and then get me back to the airport where I had to take another 1/2 hour of my time to do the paperwork required so as to make sure they get their money. All said and done, I got to the Frontier window and they advised me the next available flight back to TX was Wednesday (2 days later). So at that point, I missed my flight....thank you Avis !!!!!! So I have no idea what they are going to charge for 2 new tires, not to mention the extra $200 it cost me to get another place to stay for two more days and the two days of lost pay at my job. I am going after Avis with a legal battle to cover these extra costs that was caused by one of their very under educated employees. Because of this, they will never ever get any business from me and I hope by spreading the word with Twitter, Facebook, and all online media including Yelp, that all others may follow suit? read more

We needed a vehicle due to a car accident and had it by the end of the day. I normally rent from here when I visit my kids in Austin. In the past I've had good experiences here. Not this last time. The rep who I assume is some sort of manager was unfriendly and curt. When I dropped the car off he gave me a Hassle about dog hair in the car. I did not have animals in the car but some hair transfers via clothing. I showed him my pants and the hair that was on them. He said he was talking about the passenger seats. Uh yes, my passengers are staying the same place so same result. He said he's not charging me but it's hard to vacuum. Guess I'll have to do the work for him next time. The low tire light came on while I had the car due to rapid temperature change. I paid myself to air the tires. Rented a car while my car was in the shop. Car got repaired in in less than 24hrs returned my rental early clean full of gas. Assured from Marc that I would be credited back minus some fees $72.07 for returning early. Month later no credit back to my card. Can't get the store to answer the phone!! Are they out of business? Called 800 number get rude condescending customer support stating "Oh we quit returning money for early returns 6 months ago". I don't get anywhere with them after letting them know at the counter when I returned my car early I was assured a credit. They suggest calling the local store I said I would but no answer. Saturday I dropped my Tundra off at Lamb's for a lube and rotation. My plan was to pick it up later before they closed at 1700. Didn't happen. I was thinking they would be open on Sunday, and, if not my truck would be outside. Nope, they had it locked up inside. So on Sunday, I am without a vehicle! I'm pissed of course. I pull out my mobile and checked for rentals on yelp in Round Rizzle. One was closed, one opened at noon, and, then there was the smart one, Avis. They opened at 0900. They were exactly three miles from Lamb's. I made a "b" line and was greeted with excellant, professional and friendly customer service. I explained my situation, and, the sales agent said "Oh, let me give you the Lamb's rate. They have an account with us. It'll be 1/2 the price". Awesome. I decided to pamper myself and I rented the Mustang. The car was $42.00 and I bought the $18.00 insurance. Didn't want to risk crashing and burning. Apparently, even though my insurance would have covered an accident, Hertz bills separately for each day the vehicle is inoperable! I didn't know this. It only had 9400 miles on it. I had a blast driving it, but, missed my Tundra dearly. I took the car back the next day and they cheerfully agreed to drive me back to Lamb's. If I ever need a rental again I am going to Avis. If you leave any items in the car he will not find it and you run the risk of the car being rented with items in car! So basically you may never see them again!!
