For that price point the parlor is not clean enough, not nice enough. - Kevin is back in China. The massagist I had was not nearly as good. The massage was kind of dull and not forceful enough. - "Tips are greatly appreciated" is not true any more. The Chinese lady at checkout made it very clear that for one hour $10 is mandatory, $15 for 90 minutes. I had the strong feeling that they do not pay their massagists at all, they depend on every cent of tip. I know better places (a lot better) to spend $100 for a mediocre massage. Had a migraine and so I decided to go get a foot massage. My masseuse was Jason and he was very thorough and found pressure points that helped my headache. The price is reasonable, $30, and it includes massages for other parts of the body not just your feet. I felt very relaxed afterwards and slept very well that night. He took his time and did not rush at all, everything felt so good, I asked what his off days were so I could be back again. For one he talked on the phone during my massage left the room and everything, second he was rough and took me asking him 3 times to soften up for him to do it, and 3 third when I asked him to focus on specific spots he basically ignored me. So of course by now I'm not thinking of tipping but I gave him a dollar and what does he do? He tried to force me to give him a 5 dollar tip. First, 5 min were spent with the guy filling a mop bucket with hot water down the hall. I could hear him hacking mucus up during the process. Then the water is poured into a big bowl for me to soak my feet. It was lined in plastic which was a plus. I had asked for only feet and I got 20 min on my face and hair, had to ask him to stop. The massage was a lot of his hands flat on my face rubbing them around. Pulling my face up and down. He finally massaged my temples and I told him I like that a lot more and if he could rub my jaws, I grind my teeth at night and my muscles are always sore. Through this process all I could smell was the cigarettes on his hands. Then finally finally my foot massage starts. A majority of the foot massage was on my toes and it was just him poking his fingers in and out of the spaces between my toes. Eventually some actual massage was done on the arches of my feet, which were just a few passes. He did do some massage on my ankles that felt good. At the end he went to the back to run some more water and more mucus hacking and brought back warm towels to wipe my feet and legs. When it came time to pay I had chosen the $35 1 hour and was charged a $2 fee for using a credit card. If your bill is more than $60 you are charged a $3 fee. I still gave a tip and he made and exasperated show of me not tipping enough.... When I got to my car and turned in the ac the vents were aimed at my face. A strong smell of cigarettes was so strong! All that lotion he rubbed on my face carried the cigarette smell with it! I am so disgusted. Never going back. Such a waste of an hour and frustrated that I spent 45+ on that experience. "Er, no," was my response, as we were almost there. ** They did both my beau and I at the same time and in the same room, which was great, but I'm curious to know why my guy (who's 6'5") was given the petite woman and all 5'2" of me got the fella with obviously stronger arms. I always come back to this place even though it is so far from central Houston. Here is what you need to know: This is a Chinese massage salon. Not a River Oaks Spa. Do your research so you know the difference. Purchase the $20 foot massage. This really means an hour long full body massage. You are fully clothed, but wear something comfortable to be massaged in. I suggest yoga or form fitting clothes. They tend to give relatively hard massages so don't be afraid to ask them to not massage so rough. You will start by soaking your feet in a warm tea spa while they work on your face and head. Next, hands, arms then feet and legs. After this part you will move to a massage table where you will have your neck, back legs, arms, etc. Again, you will be dressed so wear something comfortable for a massage. You pay when you leave. Tip between $5-$10. They do their best to keep it quiet, which I've noticed other Chinese massage salons have trouble in this area and don't care if people are talking. The place is clean with a calming environment. Employees are friendly. And the massages are cheap!!! read more

This is my favorite foot massage place on Bellaire. While most of the places offer a $20 hour-long-foot-massage, not all the massages are created equal. I make my rounds and try different ones when I come into town, but A+ Foot Massage remains consistently the best. Unlike some other places that just offer you a flat rate, here they offer you a menu of three options: $20 for an hour long foot massage; $30 for an hour long half foot, half body massage; or $40 for an hour long body massage. I have never tried anything over the $20 massage here, and I don't think I ever will. In truth, even though the $20 massage is advertised as a "foot only" massage, there's only so much you can do with the feet and about 40 minutes later you get taken into a room,and put on a massage table to have a decent amount of work done on your back and legs. So in essence you do get a full body massage even for just $20, and although the $30 option may get you more attention on the body portion of the massage, I'm perfectly happy with just the $20 option. I'm am a little confused though, I must admit as to why they include the body massage when they advertise the $20 massage as being foot only. So I would caution you to not expect the body massage if you pay for just the foot massage, and take it as a welcomed extra bonus if you get it. Personally, I am of the school of thought that every pain in the body can be alleviated by foot massage, so I wouldn't mind a full hour of foot massage. There's so much going on in the feet (and buttocks) that people don't consider when they get massages! In any event, the massages here are very routine-based, meaning the therapist just goes through the motions. Some may not even speak English, so you can't really ask them to focus on any one particular area or to customize their massage. But it's a through routine and it gets the job done. You're fully clothed the whole time, even when you are asked to get on the massage table. People who don't do well with hard pressure may not like these massages, or should be prepared to voice your displeasure, as the therapists can really dig into you. Days later, I still feel a tingling sensation from my feet. While these massages can't really replace a good traditional, full body massage from a licensed massage therapist, they do hold you over and allow you to go to the LMTs less frequently, if you go at all. read more

Still I went back because after my experience at the Pain Relief Center, I simply did not want to risk trying another crappy place. After my massage, when I went to pay--I was rather rudely told by the lady in front that "No one leaves a $2 tip. Everybody leaves a tip of at least $10 or above". Er, except I often leave between $3-$5 tip for a $20 massage (15-25% tip on services rendered) which is fair imo. And as far as I know, nobody leaves a 50-100% tip unless they had an out of the world experience. And how tacky do you have to be to demand $10 tips and insult a customer in front of several other people? The one time my foot massage was fab, I gave the guy $10 tip. But that was the best foot massage I'd ever received. I cannot leave a $10 tip for mediocre massages, especially when they aren't trained massage therapists. Her explanation was their pay was low so they depended primarily on tips. Hey lady, how about you start paying your employees a decent wage and correspondingly increase the price by $5 to $10 than demanding tips from customers? When my friend told our group at dinner that she was going to get a massage in Chinatown, it was only natural that we made about 10,000 "happy ending" jokes. But my jokes turned to curiousity when I saw her again later that evening. She had that dreamy, half asleep look that people get when they are super relaxed. And when she told me the price -- $20 for 60 minutes! -- my curiousity turned into determination to give it a shot. I walked into A+ after work without an appointment. The peacefulness of the ambiance began soothing my work-frayed nerves immediately. The guy at the desk informed me in a low voice that there would be about a 40 minute wait, so I plopped down on the couch and half dozed. 40 minutes later, I was led to the back where I was told to remove my shoes and socks, have a seat, and put my feet in the hot tea bath. A word of advice, wear shorts or something other than slacks to a foot massage parlour. I was forced to roll my pants up to my knees like it was flooding outside. As noted in other reviews, the massage is actually a full body, with a focus on the feet. My masseuse started with my face and temples and worked his way up my scalp down to my neck and upper shoulders. Then he worked each arm and hand before moving down to work on the feet. I'd say this took about 15 minutes or so. Normally I don't like people touching my feet because I giggle like an Elmo doll and then instinctively try to kick them in the face. But this guy had magical feet-loving hands that tamed my five-toed beasts of fury. Around this point I think I fell into a semi nap. After about 35 minutes or so of feet and lower calf massage, he moved me to a massage table, where I laid myself face down. He massaged upper back down to my glutes and thighs for about 10 minutes before informing me that the session was over. If I hadn't had dinner plans, I would have got back in line and gone again. That was the best $20 I think I've ever spent, including the time I paid my buddy to eat a wad of wassabi the size of a golf ball (which, incidently, I don't recommend). Jack was my masseuse. He could tell that I was sore in certain places and spent extra time on those areas without me having to tell him. I have no idea if this place has certified massage therapists working here but it really didn't matter. The service I got was well worth $50+. He spent 30 minutes on my feet and about another 20 mintes on my head, back shoulders and arms. When I thought I was finished he led me into a room next door that had a massage table in it. This place is like a foot massage assembly line. Walking in you'll see a receptionist and a seating area. Walking to the back you'll see about 20 massage chairs that will likely be full of customers. They have a few small rooms. Some with massage chairs and others with full massage tables. I got my initial massage in a room with 2 chairs. A few other reviews talked about the receptionist recommending a tip (which I think is rude) but it didn't happen when I visited. The decor was okay. not like a place you'd visit in the Heights or Montrose but I wasn't expecting that. If you're looking for a A+ foot massage at a great price and you don't have to have the high class atmosphere, I'd definitely recommend them. read more

I have personally been here twice. The first time was fine. But this second time was such a terrible experience! My boyfriend and I had two ladies who were barely using any force unlike the men who did our massage the last time we went. After paying we tipped 18% because we did not have an additional 2 dollars for 20% and we felt as though they only deserved 18%. And they pestered us to tip more!!
