Not the best foot massage place in town. I prefer massage swaps with LMT buddies but our time and scheduling doesn't always match up, so it's more convenient to do a walk into massage places for me. This place looked like a normal foot massage place that I use to go to for 25/hr. Very small and their "lounger massage chairs" are lined up very close to the walls. So pretty cramped compared to the newer places that charge the same $40/hr. The older Chinese man that worked on me was very quiet and doesn't have great customer service skills. I gave him the benefit of doubt (since a lot of the older guys at other places are really skilled with getting knots out of my back, shoulders and foot...not this man). He started with my neck and shoulders like most place usually do. But the difference here is he doesn't use any creams or lotion and had no pressure on my trapezius when working on it. Also his hands smelled like cigarettes. Faint/ mild smell but yuck nontheless. This happens sometimes at other places too. But even worse, a Chinese lady picked up the phone and talked loudly...came over and handed him the phone! He worked on me lightly...Like petting my shoulders, while he used his right hands to talk on the phone. And...it was a telemarketer that called trying to sell them insurance or something. He told them "little English, Chinese please" and the other person on the line hung up. Oh boy! That, and with barely any pressure on my back/ shoulders/ arms/ feet...that really wasn't worth my time. I voiced to add pressure and he only pushed harder when working on my neck! Neck is not the area to work deeply in...massage therapy training teaches this. Neck area with all the blood vessels is not a deep tissue area. I needed the pressure on my back, shoulders and arms (Not to just be petted there). Also, the bottom or soles of my foot was not worked really well. He spent lots of time on the bony top parts of the feet (it's bony, not much muscles there- why spend so much time there instead of knuckling the plantar area where all the muscles are on bottom of the foot? Another difference with here/ this worker is he did not work my legs at all! Other places they will work my legs and even stretch me out. It wasn't even a full hour!. I tipped only $8 for the mediocre service. I'll make the longer drive to my usual place the next time where the price is $32 and I normally tip $18 there. Or I just need to find another place/ network with other massage therapist. If you're an LMT wanting a swap, lemme know. That may work too! I also teach/train massage students, if you're one who is prepping for the MBLEX exam, we could swap skills also. I'll tutor ya and you can get my knots out. I forgot to mention also, the soap dispenser in bathroom was low and about to run out. I got itchy at the back of my neck and hair area about half way through the massage. Their "pillow" they used is not a waterproof one and just covered with a towel. I'm not even sure that the blankets and towels that they use are swapped out between customers. I hope that it's detergent that Is making me itchy and not lice or something like that. (Though I don't smell any detergent). Also, when I left, none of the linens were changed where I was at and a couple was taken in right after me. Im not sure which "chair" they were gonna sit/lay on. I won't be back here for sure and need to really get a shampoo going soon! Maybe I'll even stop to get lice shampoo just to be sure. read more

I didn't even want to give a star at all. I made an appointment for my mom and I for a foot reflexology massage. We walk in and the place is so hot, no AC in Texas? So I can't be in the heat I ask for a cool towel or something for my neck if they aren't going to turn the air on. No one spoke one word of English. I tell them we are here for foot massage and they keep trying to force my mom to lay down and she is telling them she has a bad back and can't and proceed to try to rub her face, she tells them no I am here for feet, long story short no one understood anything and we left. My daughter purchased a $50 massage gift certificate for me for Christmas. It accidentally got thrown out in the gift bag it was in. I let Lucy know and she gave me the runaround for weeks. I called several times and she kept putting me off. I went by this morning to talk to her about it and she wasn't there but was on the phone with an employee who let me speak to her. Lucy was very rude and the most she would give me is 50% of the gift certificate. She then told me that if I lost a gift certificate for any other store they wouldn't replace it or give me any credit. I have been a customer since she opened years ago. If I could give zero stars I would. Terrible customer service. We bought a groupon coupon for foot massages which differs by $3 dollars on their original price for foot massages which we did not know. When I called to set the appointment they did not ask what kind of massage or how many people or my name which if you're familiar with these massages you would know they ask this information and I stated it. When we showed up to get our massages she tells us they don't allow Groupons to be used simultaneously. This information was not stated on Groupon or their website. She said the reason was because they don't make money of the coupons. I was very upset due to the fact we rushed during traffic to get here and drove pretty far. I am truly saddened that i have this review, but it's the principle. I have come here and experinced awesome massages most of the time for the last two. My this last time was devastating. I Experienced poor service and an incomplete massage. No back or hands done. Very dissatisfied. The guy giving the message was new and acted very rude as if I was wasting his time and a hassle. He used a blunt object on my foot that hurt so much even when I expressed discomfort he kept going. When it was time to leave he made overly expressive noise like I was getting on his nerve. I've been there twice and have had a great experience that helped me feel relaxed overall afterwards. Place is clean with soothing music. 1) Went there a couple of weeks ago for the first time on a Saturday afternoon, had a 60 min combination of 30 min foot massage & 30 min back massage. The back massage with the hot stone was awesome and made me feel so relaxed! Scalp massage during foot reflexology session felt so good and the warm small pillow on the back felt very nice, too! Great pressure and smooth hand which is important. Unfortunately, I didn't get her name. It was an older lady, I would get back massage by her again. 2) Went there again this evening, had a 90 min combination: 45 min back massage and 45 min foot massage in that order by another lady named Ching. Great pressure and smooth hand, she did an excellent job with the foot reflexology, I almost fell asleep because I felt so relaxed during the massage. Definitely would get foot massage by her again! The back massage was nice as well almost like a deep tissue massage. Looking forward to going for a 2 hr foot massage next time. A descent massage? Sure... Relaxing? NO. Happy Endings? STRONG Possibility So I walked- in and was immediately taken to the back, they didn't start on me for abt 15 mins. It was extremely noisy, from the opening and closing of the door in a non subtle way, the employees talking up a storm and Papa Johns kneading their dough, I was ready to go before my massage even started. The guy working on me talked the first 20 mins of my massage to his co-worker, at times he would even walk away for minutes at a time and come back without anything such as a hot stone, towel or anything that was beneficial to my massage! So i thought to myself "What in the heck are you doing" ughhhhh so fast forward to the back massage part- you are escorted to the back room area to lay on the table. hmmmm I side-eyed this process b/c Midtown reflexology or any other place I've been to has never had to do this.. I've always stayed in the "chair bed" thing and turned over when it was time for my back. DEAR GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the first 20 minutes of my back massage a guy in the room next to me kept saying "Oh God" "Oh God" "Yes" " Yes" "YESSSSS" "Oh God" it was so uncomfortable. I'm used to loud or hard groans if maybe they are working kinks out on a person but someone was straight up receiving a hand job or fellatio. I finally had enough and said pretty loudly "Is he having sex" The masseuse laughed and said its the guy in the next room and the noise immediately stopped!!!!!!!! By this point I only have 10 mins left and he's finished and he asks me "Are you finished" I say huh? I was able to come in and receive a complimentary massage which turned out to be wonderful! The masseuse was very attentive to the areas I needed her to focus on but also made sure it was relaxing. I'm glad I got to come back and see why I enjoyed this place so much before. Thank you Lucy and I will continue to be a customer. All the best. I've been going here for about a year now and today was the first time I left EXTREMELY disappointed. Bless the poor guy's heart who was doing my massage because I did have a lot of tension in my back to be worked out but NOT ONE SECOND of my hour combo massage was relaxing!! He moved too fast in each area instead of doing slow relaxing motions, used his elbows much more than I enjoyed, and I felt on edge the entire time. I literally considered going elsewhere right after for another massage because the whole point of me going was to relax, which I didn't get to AT ALL. I wish they asked you what type of massage, pressure you were looking for, or where your pain is before they start because I feel like I just wasted my money. $45 ($35 with a $10 tip because I felt he really did try) but I will have to go elsewhere tomorrow ans from now on to seek the relaxing massage I was hoping to get today after a long day of work. :( read more

Very nice and updated. BUT the REALLY need to work on their service. My boyfriend had called to make an appointment for both of us for the 75 min and we arrive, we are seated immediately!!!! AWESOME right?! NOT! They had us laying there for at least 20 minutes before they finally got to us, or shall I say ME? In those 20 minutes people kept on walking past us, the door was opening and closing and they kept on talking. So I the massage was below average. Oh and when they started on me I had assumed that they had started on my boyfriend too but come to find out they RUSHED to him to catch up to where mine was. So he got shorted on his massage. I found this little gem about a yr ago when I first moved to the area. I am an RN - I work hard and my muscles suffer for it. I have always found the staff here very pleasant and inviting. Once you go often enough you begin to discover who has better techniques. Lee (the guy) is firm but works your muscles very good - his massages are especially good after a long work week. When I'm in search of a more soothing approach I go to Jessica, Amy, or Kacee. Their soft petite hands are very therapeutic. I also find the prices to be very reasonable. $25 bucks to be massaged from your head to your feet for an hr isn't bad at all. CONS: Location - The business is right next to a VERY NOISY Papa Johns which makes the calm quiet atmosphere needed for a relaxing massage almost impossible at certain times of the day. Esp at lunch time you can hear pizza workers yelling orders, phones ringing, and pans bashing onto countertops. Decor & atmosphere - recently they have placed a door to separate the front lobby area from the massage chairs. This has helped SOME to shut out excessive light and external noise. However, there are times the noise comes from inside ; workers constantly coming in & out of the door, new customers coming in inquiring about services offered, workers talking amongst themselves, or simply coming through the door & not closing it lending way for daylight & noise to enter. Lack of consistency - some days I leave feeling like I'm floating on air & other days I feel like I slept on a sack of rocks. Each worker has their own varied approaches. One day a worker might do everything right with just the right amount of pressure & force. And other days he might seem rushed, massaging too deep, or failed to adequately lotion & warm up his hands before rubbing my skin. In summary, I keep going back. So often that I honestly should purchase a membership. Why? Because the staff knows me, greet me warmly when they see me, and do their best to accommodate me & keep me satisfied. I've been to this establishment on a number of occasions. Each time a different experience. The first time I went there, I got a full body massage. I think this was during their grand opening. They directed me into a room with a only a fabric door... asked me to undress and hop onto the table. The massage was pretty decent though I felt a little bare. The towel was thin and didn't really cover me at all times. At one point, I was laying on my front and she lifted me off the table...and I was feeling quite exposed. But nonetheless, the massage was relaxing as I expected. My second visit, I had the foot massage by this lady, Jeannie (I think). She barely speaks any English but she was by far my favorite therapist I've ever had in my life. She knew exactly what to do...I was completely relaxed while she kneaded away all my tension. My most recent visit though, I must admit was poor. I opted for the foot massage again, and a man approached me to begin my massage. The second he touched my temples, I cringed. Coarse dry fingers. He began to massage my forehead and then I had to ask if he could have a woman assist me instead. So I thought that the woman would be much better...but she went very sparingly on the lotion too...so it didn't seem like a very smooth massage. And since I asked for a woman, on the spot, the gentleman asked her to do me...but she was the receptionist...so I think she's just inexperienced all together. Not so great. Would I go back again? Probably for the price. But if I get another sub par massage... I'll probably have to come to the conclusion that the management has changed since they've opened and find a new massage joint. read more

At first I was skeptical and unsure, but decided to take her up on her offer. She explained that the person who was supposed to massage me the last time, had some sort of family issue. So, I contacted Lucy and went back in today. Everyone was attentive when I arrived and showed me to an area for the foot massage. Today, Helen, was who helped me. I found it to be enjoyable and relaxing. The room was quiet and I was able to focus on some relaxation. At the end, I felt like the old JQ was back and it gave me confidence to be a repeat customer again. I've been going here since they opened and have always had a good massage and experience, until yesterday. I walked in and there were many women that apparently worked there at the front, like 5. I followed someone back and she pointed to a chair. She filled the bucket with warm water and I put my feet in and then started on my head. I asked her to work a little bit more on my sinuses because of my allergies. That was fine. Then there was a lot of commotion and talking and back and forth. The woman picked up my eye mask and said she would be right back. I wait. More commotion. Then she comes back with her phone and tells me something I don't understand with the gist of she would be back in 10, no 5 minutes tops. Her phone I guess was translated to saying something like the man is broken? She tells me she will give me $5 off and walks off. I lay there 5 then 10 and then 15 minutes while my wet feet sit and get cold because they were yanked out of the water by someone else. No one is around, no one comes to check on me and the woman who was told to lay down two chairs over is still sitting there with no one helping her. I decide I'm tired of waiting and walk to the front. I explain what happened and the front desk person, who spoke perfect English, tells me she can call her boss. What for? I say not to bother because I'm not paying for 7 minutes of massage and 15 minutes of waiting. She tells me she's not back there and can't tell me what's going on? Don't you run the front so why wouldn't you know what's going on? At that point, I just shake my head and leave. Not going back ever again after going there for like 10 years. Oh well. read more

THE BEST massage place in Houston! This is my weekly "fix the damage of sitting at my computer all week" stop. I live closer to Chinatown and could get massages a few bucks cheaper, but the quality of massage at JQ Foot Reflexology is far superior and a real bargain. The 60 minute foot massage is really a full body massage, and they do an awesome job massaging your back. I'm a big guy (6'7, 240lbs) and they have 3 masseuses that do a great job of walking on my back to work out the knots. I recommend JQ to all of my friends, and everyone I have brought with me has had a great massage. Just make sure you specify whether you would prefer to have a female or male massage you if you have a preference. read more

My Sister and I walked-in on Sunday afternoon to see if they had any availability. After waiting for a couple minutes, someone emerged from the back and just looked at us! No smile, greeting or "may I help you?" So I asked if we could get a foot reflexology massage or did we need to make appointments. She looked annoyed, looked back behind the curtain and then said maybe 30 minutes. I said ok, and then mentioned that it was our first time and I had a couple of questions about what I saw on their website & Facebook page. She immediately snapped that they didn't have a FB page. I said they did and the website mentions it. She adamantly denied that they had a FB page. So I asked if this was JQ and she said yes, and then I showed it to her. She then said it was old info & hadn't been updated in a while. I said ok, then asked about the specials they had on their website. Again, she said it was old information. At this point, I felt like she didn't want to be bothered with us and definitely didn't want our business. So I said, "thanks for your time, but I think we will go somewhere else that's a little more welcoming." Then we left, she didn't say wait, bye, or anything. I don't know if she didn't feel well, was in a bad mood or just didn't want to be bothered...either way, that is NOT how you treat new customers that choose your establishment out of a list of 6 in the area to receive their first ever reflexology treatment. Needless to say, we went right down the road, about a mile away and had a MUCH better experience!! They greeted us with smiles and thanked us for coming in!!! This place is great! I've been to a few off of Bellaire and by far this is the best one! I would give it 5stars but throughout the entire massage I can hear the people next door and people outside. I did a 70min foot massage for only $30!!!! The lady I had was Jessica. She has the softest hands and actually knew what she was doing. After she was done with my feet she took me into another room for a body massage, I didn't take my clothes off bc I wasn't comfortable nor did she ask which is fine. The massage was pretty good for having my clothes on and at one point she hopped on the table a few times. Needless to say I really enjoyed it so much so I'm going back today to have her work on my back. I did ask if I can take my shirt off so she can work on my back better, so that I will do!
