Condensing two apartments into one house is not easy. I was very impressed with A Available's skill and professionalism in handling this day long, multi-unit move. The crew on the truck (four guys; I wish I could remember all of their names) were absolutely amazing about moving some of my larger items from a third floor apartment with extremely narrow stairs without causing damage. They were all respectful to me and made a stressful moving situation much less stressful. They didn't complain at all about moving several tons worth of books (thanks guys)! Mike and his team came highly recommended by friends and moved us out of our home and into our new home during the most stressful house closing and COVID19 pandemic. During an extremely stressful and anxiety provoking process (not having the dates we could move in and it changing because of closings), Mike was patient and flexible took care of every detail and communicated us through the whole process to save us the most money and get done the move we needed to. Mike spent a long time at our home prior to the move to give us a detailed estimate and also advised us on how to pack if we want to save on cost. I got estimates from other companies who made me feel like I was buying a used car. I immediately felt like Mike cared and was looking to help and not bullshit me. He was available and patient for my many phone calls as we needed to call him constantly to change moving dates. His guys arrived early and moved super fast. They were super professional and paid attention to detail of where things went and took care of our belongings. They didn't take breaks or waste anytime. They even called us "miss" and "sir". Because our closing went late and we were on a time crunch, Mike even met the guys at our new house to help them get started. This company is awesome! They got me in at the date I wanted. Four guys showed up because I was on the third floor, so they could get the job done faster and save me another hour. Very good move! I had several large pieces of furniture and a few boxes going to a 3rd floor walk-up and the men were quick, careful and all my furniture survived without any scratches (the building was also unscathed). All my wood pieces were blanket wrapped and the sectional sofa and chair were plastic wrapped. The prices were very reasonable and I was impressed by how quickly it was all completed. Plus, I called on short notice and had a Saturday move and there were no additional charges for that. I would absolutely use them again. read more

We had to be out of the house. We contacted this moving company and everything was all set. They started they job promptly at 8:00am as planned and everything was going well. It was me, my husband, my father in law and my aunt in law. Suddenly, without warning, they stopped dead in their tracks and started moving everything back inside. We kept asking them what the problem was and they did not even look at us. They treated us as if we had leprosy. My father is a sickly man and he's now demanding an explanation as to what had happened. All we want to know is what happened. The crew told us to talk to their boss. We called their boss and even he doesn't know what happened. None of them know what happened. And we are out here on the street trying to find someone that will help us since they left us. Do not trust these people. Do not leave them a deposit. Do not give them any money until they have finished their job. In fact, don't even give these people a job. Your business is well deserved elsewhere. There is no communication within the company and they all do whatever they want. I will follow up wth a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. I have used A-Available movers twice in the last 5 years. Both times the crew was not on time they were 15 minutes EARLY and started right away. We had some strange requests as we were moving some items around in the house, some to the garage and some to a separate location. They were extremely accommodating and made no mistakes. I think with any movers you need to be on hand to give instructions as they are not mind readers, these guys not only appreciated the instruction but sought it out to limit any mistakes. We of course treated them with respect and food and drink as it was a hot, dirty job. They were very appreciative and finished in an hour less than the estimate. Ask for the crew of Randy, John, Kenny and Chris and you will not be disappointed. I would call them first before I would call anyone else! read more

Horrible!! Showed up late-1 hr. Took forever. Damaged my dining room table and my computer chair on both arms. Charged me extra 200 dollars. Foolish me, I tipped them and provided cold water for them all day. They didn't put together the beds in one bedroom and the mirror on my dresser. They left a sofa on the back porch that was supposed to go in the basement. Don't ever pay someone without checking everything first. I called to complain and got nowhere. read more

Yes! on time, on estimate for a very difficult move to 3rd floor with some very heavy and large furniture- not a mark on the furniture or walls, very clean and careful. The on time, on estimate part was an excellent part of it, we had 2 pickup points and one 3 story delivery point- they know their stuff, this was not an easy move. We recently moved with A-Available. I have some good things to say, but since some of my belongings were lost, I have to recommend that you not give them your business. The movers arrived on time (30 minutes earlier than they told us, in fact, though I don't think they charged us for that extra time), and they were friendly and professional. They worked fairly quickly and none of our things were damaged. While they were moving our things out of our apartment, my fiance brought a few boxes and a laundry sorter out from our storage unit. He placed them in the alley near the truck and told one of the movers that these things also needed to go on the truck. Once everything (or so we thought) had been packed, they asked my fiance if that was everything. He responded, yes, because we had already looked through the apartment and assumed that the items in the alley had been placed on the truck, as he had requested. He assumed incorrectly, because once we got to the new house, those boxes and the laundry sorter were not there. We realized this about 2 hours after the movers had left, so I called A-Available and he went back to the apartment complex to see if the items were still there. The items were gone - I'm not surprised, given the neighborhood I lived in. I let A-Available know that they were gone, and they insisted that there was no way they could have been left. They were certain that the items were somewhere in our house. Although they were good about looking into my concern and checked the truck for me, when I left them a message a few days later telling them that we were all unpacked and the items were definitely missing, I was not contacted again. I know the error was not on our part, because it doesn't make sense that ONLY the boxes and laundry sorter in the alley would be missing, unless they were left there. I'm disappointed because the company was so certain that they absolutely had not made a mistake, and because no financial compensation was offered. The laundry sorter was worth $50. The boxes contained childhood memory items, so those can't be replaced. We won't be moving with them again. read more

The team of three movers were inefficient, careless, and abrasive - Corey, especially. They were constantly dropping things, knocking them over, and stacking things poorly, so that they later fell over. When asked if they could put items together, to make them easier to find later for assembly, they said it was fine. When asked if they could rearrange something, so perhaps something else could fit, they said it was fine, and left everything where it was (side-note, at the end, there was a large patio table that did not fit inside the storage unit, and they looked at us, like it was our fault. They actually said they didn't know what we wanted them to do, because we had wanted to keep certain items near the door, at the opposite end, so that we could access them, implying that it was those items that were making it impossible for the table to fit. At that point, since it was at the end and I was fed up, I told them I was sure they could make it work. After a little rearranging they were able to fit the table.). When asked if they could move something so that it didn't scratch something else, I was asked if I saw the cardboard layer that was supposed to protect it. When I told him that I did, they said it was fine. When I said that it was a treasured piece of varnished, wood furniture, and that an item balancing on the top corner with other items being thrown on top of it could scratch off the finish, they asked me if I wanted to unload the truck, and arrange things myself. I have worked with a lot of movers (I work in real estate), and I have never worked with a crew with such an attitude. It was like dealing with sulky teenagers. One of them took a smoke break, while they were supposed to be unloading, which I don't want to smell, and should not have to pay for. They took their time unloading things - they just did not have a cohesive system to get things unloaded and stacked into the unit. There were three of them, but I rarely saw all three of them working together. At an hourly rate, that is just unacceptable. They also took the time to refold all the blankets, on our time. Other moving companies I have used have always just thrown the blankets into a pile, shaken them out before they left, put them back into the truck, and then folded them on their own time. They were not careful with the glass pieces, which were not wrapped, but just put in between the cardboard boxes they had in the truck or the piles of blankets. When they set them inside the unit, they were simply leaned against the wall. Their comments and cursing were also not appreciated. I do not need to know their opinion of my stuff, nor their opinion of the amount of my stuff. That is not their business. I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere to find yourself a mover. Even if you have to pay a little more per hour, a better team of movers could move your belongings far more efficiently, and thus save you money. read more

I've moved quite a few times over the past 14 years. I've used a different company each time. After a friend used A-Available I tought I would use them too. This company was a refreshing change from the other companies I have used. They were polite, curteous, respectful and careful. I have 3 young children... never was an inappropriate word used... which ranks high in my book. Everything was yes maam.. let me move that maamm. All boxes were placed in the appropriate room and if they weren't they moved them for me. There estimate was spot on.. not bad for a 5 bedroom house. I've had other companies off by hundreds of dollars on smaller homes. When the estimator and I were chatting about all my moves he said obviously you hadn't used us or you wouldn't have used so many different moving companies. He was right on. Should I need movers again... A-available it will be. One other major plus. We needed to store our belongings on a truck over night. He told me where the trucks would be parked and we were free to go check out the area. That was comforting. The other companies told me they couldn't tell me where the truck would be parked over night until the time of the move because it would depend on what was on the schedules... One company told me it might be Naperville it might be Schaumburg they didn't know. I'm glad A-Available understands that people want to know their belongings are secure overnight. read more

One of the problems that I have discovered is that EZ Movers started using pink trucks within the last few years. I know that A-Available has been using the pink trucks for at least a decade, and when EZ Movers saw that there was such a good reputation attached to those pink trucks, they started painting their trucks pink too. It really is a shame that the EZ Movers company, which does not have the sparkling record of A-Available, has been able to tarnish the record of a really great moving company. I would highly recommend to people that you double-check that you are working with A-Available. I recommended A-Available to a friend, knowing that A-Available had a really great record, and was astonished when my friend called to let me know they had been totally duped. I couldn't understand what had gone wrong and was about to scratch A-Available off my list, but then we realized that she had gone with the pink trucks and gotten EZ Movers instead of A-Available. Bummer. I would recommend that anyone interested in finding a mover in their area should refer to the Better Business Bureau or Angie's List. read more
