We went to A&W Restaurant for lunch, by the time we arrived at the restaurant, there were a few customers but they weren't very busy. We approached the kiosk to place our orders: A 5-pc Chicken Tender combo with a medium Pepsi and medium fries, a Double Cheeseburger with a diet Pepsi and onion rings, a Coney Dog with a side of fried cheese curds and a Large Tropicana Fruit Punch, a Spicy Papa Burger with a side fries and a large Root beer, and a Spicy Chicken Sandwich with a Large Tropicana Fruit Punch. After a short wait, the lady behind the counter called out our name to bring out our drinks, after a couple of minutes she brought out our food. All the food was the stereotypical fast food, the burgers were messy, the coney dog was a little too salty for my liking, but the kids to enjoy their chicken tenders and spicy chicken sandwich. We enjoyed our burgers, as messy as they were; there was so much sides leftover, it was enough to male another meal. How can you go wrong with A&W? There's not one single thing here that I don't like. I've always been a sucker for root beer floats. It's the number one dessert that I will always need at least once a year along with the vanilla ice cream cone. The onion rings and cheese curds can be a little over cooked sometimes, but even then their still good with BBQ sauce. And I really love the mushroom Swiss burger! it is perfect every single time. The caramelized chopped onion is so good! It is always very clean inside, and the staff couldn't be more fantastic! Everyone is always so nice. Oh my, how I forget how good this little fast food restaurant is until I have it. It's been years and last visit was at their Reno location with my last pregnancy. My kids asked for burgers last week and we rushed to get through their drive thru before the Mendive and Reed students got out of school. We ordered a Spicy papa burger, two cheese burger combos and an order of their corn dog bites! They are so good here! I'm a sucker for a sweet and salty snack! I drive by here many Wednesday evenings en route to run club, and I LOVE that A&W seems to host a car show every Wednesday. A&W seems so classic as a brand, and as a car person, it makes me happy to see vehicles with their hoods up and their owners in camp chairs. After driving by this location many times, my husband and I finally stopped in for our Sunday lunch date. I am a sucker for booths, so I appreciated that they were an option. I was pleasantly surprised to see corn dogs and cheese curds on the menu: definitely a differentiator from other fast-food options. My husband and I ordered burgers and fries, and I was delighted that even though I ordered DIET root beer, it still came in the awesome frosted mug. The customer service was top notch. The person who took our order was so friendly , and it is unique for fast food that the staff bring the food to your table. It's so nice to not have to wait around the ordering area. As we were packing up, the cashier was out in the dining area, and she asked me if I'd like a to-go cup of diet root beer. That is above and beyond customer service! We went here for the first time in YEARS and we were pleasantly surprised at how good A&W was. We went through the drive through and our order came out perfectly as ordered. The French onion burger was mighty tasty with a lot of flavor. And of course, the A&W root beer (even diet) tasted creamy and perfectly crisp. The only one left in my area is this one on prater and sparks Blvd. I love their food and floats they're famous for so decided to take a stop here for dinner. Friendly staff and clean interior with little business in the restaurant for a weekday at 6pm. The first thing I noticed immediately was the inflated pricing. There's no combo meal under $10. Chicken meal combos are $13-$17 which is extremely high. For 2 kids and 1 adult our total was $36! Those weren't even combo meals. Another issue is like another review said, the Root beer floats overflow and half emptied on the table. They do come around though and refill your mug with more Root beer. Their food is good, but I'll never go back there. We were sitting inside eating when four high school aged boys barged their way in WITH their bikes AND bags of junk food from Smiths. They didn't buy any food from the restaurant, but sat in a booth talking loudly, swearing like sailors, and making a huge mess. That's called false advertizing. Shame on the cook and manager plus the server. Also one girl went and picked up the dirty trays in the lobby and instead of putting them in back to be washed she just stacked them on the counter with what I am now guessing were more dirty trays for the next unsuspecting person to have their food served on. Yum yum. I went to BIG R to go shopping, so A&W in the parking lot and I was so excited. My hubby and I like extra pickle on our burgers and everywhere we go they just put two extra pickles on your burger which is frustrating. This place put a lot on the burger and I was so excited. I went here on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 for dessert. I miss the old A&W Restaurant in Reno on East Plumb Lane by Atlantis Casino Resort Spa. They closed last August. It was popular among the car enthusiasts for Hot August Nights, which is held each August at Atlantis in the parking lot. The restaurant is close by and has a large parking lot where people drive their classic cars. They were open late too. But I digress... I had to try the other A&W in Sparks, as I had never been there before. It is in the plaza with Smiths, at the southeast corner of Sparks Boulevard and Baring Boulevard. I have been to many A&W's in California, but everyone is a combined restaurant, usually with KFC. (The one I used to frequent in Pleasant Hill, CA had a lot of homeless people hanging out.) In Nevada, they are all stand-alone A&W's. I was so happy being here. All the employees at the counter were a little hurried, but so nice. I was greeted right away. I ordered a classic root beer float with genuine A&W root beer. The mug was straight from the freezer and I could see the mist/ice on it when I was served. The soft serve ice cream made the root beer overflow, so I had a mess, lol. But this is good--they do not stinge on the amounts! By the way, do not get the root beer float to go, since it is served in a paper cup. You need to try it for dine in, with a genuine frozen mug. I went a got a long straw and long spoon. I decided to first attack the root beer so the mug wouldn't keep overflowing. Then I worked on the ice cream with a spoon. It is so delicious when those two are combined. I wish they had refills (of the root beer). At the ones on California, the soda is in a self-serve fountain, but here it was behind the counter. Maybe they did have free refills on the soda, but I didn't ask. I noticed there was a genuine life-size Papa Bear in the store for decor, as well as digital sign by the door. There was plenty of seating, including handicapped searing. I also noticed there was a busy drive-thru, the lane of which wrapped around three-quarters of the building. There were also a few chairs outside by the door for people to rest (not eat). If you are interested, all locations sell genuine A&W root beer by the gallon. This location did not have a bell at the exit ("Ring the bell if your meal was swell"), although if you want a bell, Long John Silver's in Reno has one. At the end, I returned my empty mug to the counter to secure it, because those classic mugs have been known to be stolen by customers. The only thing that bothered me was some person parked too close to the parking line at front, so I couldn't fit in. But that isn't the restaurant's fault. read more

Stopped into A&W and I had the new pub style fish and chips. It came with fries and coleslaw and it was really good for fast food. The fish was nice and crispy without being overcooked and I was impressed with the coleslaw. It was was very reminiscent of KFC coleslaw but better. read more

So just getting to a BBQ while covered in A&W Rootbeer, now probably thinking on how this happened. Well before getting to the BBQ I stopped by to grab some rootbeer, now went thru the Drive thru seeing it would've been quicker or you would think so. When pulling up to A&W and placing my order and then was instructed to pull around to the window where I paid and then waited about 5-10min and when my order finally came to the window the employee handed me two dripping covered 1/2 gallons of A&W where the employee asked me "Would you like more napkins" I replied "Were you gonna wipe this off" he didnt say anything he just gave me napkins. So as I put the cartons in the car I've got it dripping all over my car and in my lap, now if the employees would've wiped it off and would've presented the order as they would've liked their order. Starting to drive off the lids popped off and there goes more rootbeer all over the flooring of my car. Now I'm now gonna have to get my car cleaned and possibly detailed because it's all sticky. Thank you A&W. I just emailed the supervisor because trying to call the store all I got was a buzzing sound like a fax machine. As for my experience, I dropped the star rating to a 1 star if I could I'd give it no stars if I could. Until further notice I will not return to this location nor recommend it too anyone. My son and I are definitely fans of A & W. We only go from time to time, but when the craving hits... we have to get there fast. My son loves their bacon cheeseburger (big surprise there) and I really enjoy their cheeseburger with grilled mushrooms and onions. You can't get a good one of those in very many drive-throughs. We also love their fried cheese curds and A & W root beer. My son gets the regular and I get the diet. We have only been to this location's drive-through. We have never been inside this particular one. They are really good here. Never had an issue with a wrong order or anything and we have been there a ton of times over the years. You definitely, however, want to avoid this A & W when the high school across the road is out for lunch. Actually, should just avoid that whole area then. read more

One of the things I like about this A&W store is how consistent they are in delivering friendly service and hot and fresh food. At times you might have to wait a couple of minutes, but I don't mind that because that wait is always worth it in the end. Most of the other fast food restaurants around the area are hit or miss. If you get tired of being served dried out and stale burgers and cold, limp fries at those other places, give this A&W a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more
