I don't even know how many years it's been since I've come to this place for food. When I was younger it was a favorite place of mine and my friends, today, many years later, I visit it out of nostalgia. I came in the middle of July, so I didn't sit outside due to the blazing heat, instead taking the food and taking it home with me afterwards, but I only saw metal wiring benches, so it probably wouldn't have been the most comfortable, but they did have a huge sun shade over it. I ordered a Double Burger, with fries and a Rootbeer Milkshake, since this place is known for its milkshakes! The cashier was polite when I talked to her and she took my order. Once I got home I was immediately confused as, they don't put your food in plastic holders or anything, they just wrap them in paper which is incredibly bizarre and I've never seen anything like that before! Threw me off for sure. Anyway, the burger was kinda average. Not bad, but rather plain, and the lettuce tasted kinda old or overly wet. The fries were good. Well cooked with good texture and seasoning. Combined with the ranch, they were very pleasant to enjoy! The milkshake however was Easily the star of the show here! I know it's hard to mess up something like that, but even still, it was absolutely delicious! Overall, while I was disappointed with my burger, the rest of it was good enough to save it from a negative review! I'll definitely go back again for a milkshake sometime, and probably some fries again too! Though I don't think I'll be getting their burgers again. Gathered here with school friends to celebrate the end of the school year. Easy to find with the big signage off Prater. Pulled into their parking lot and had lots of stalls which was convenient. Our group kind of caused a back up in the ordering line. It has an old school feel to it and only one cashier to order from. The lady at the ordering window was great and friendly. Lots of menu signs and tons of options to order especially in the ice cream flavors. We enjoyed their Oreo and mango ice cream shakes. Tasty, thick, and creamy! Scoopers was dinner on our lazy Sunday evening. It was pretty busy and I hadn't been here since I was a teenager. I was sad to see you couldn't drive in and order from the speaker anymore, but I get with the area that they may have had to transition for safety purposes. Food is always fresh since it's made to order, so prepared to wait a little. We ordered a quarter pounder, a single cheeseburger, and a kids grilled cheese, onion rings, fries and a Reeses peanut butter and a marshmallow milkshake. We decided to dine in my car since the dining room was pretty packed and it was too chilly to sit outside. We didn't want to wait any longer after receiving our food to eat. Our food was piping hot and delicious. Their onion rings and their milkshakes are two of my favorite things about Scoopers. Their prices to portion ratio is fair. The outdoor sign advertised a special for a single cheeseburger, fries AND shake for $8.50!!!! Who can beat that price??? We ordered that for my teen daughter while my mom and I each ordered the mushroom burger. We also ordered the chili cheese fries. We had no idea that most of their specialty burgers are double patty! These burgers are huge. We easily could have split one. All the burgers were juicy and perfectly cooked. The swiss cheese pull of the mushroom burger shows they do not skimp and the pickles tasted home made/great quality. My daughter loved the single and I would easily order that that as well since I lean towards being a classic burger purist. The chocolate shake was also very good. The chili cheese fries were amazing. I grew up in Metro Detroit which is known for iconic Coney Island chili dogs and fries. This chili was very similar except for Scoopers adds beans. Makes me want to come back and try a chili dog. If you are in Reno skip the boring casino faire and give Scoopers Drive In a try. Easy stop after a day in Virginia City. went to visit them during Hot August Nights on Saturday. The roads were solid people so we stopped at scoopers. The front neon sign said Open but the sign on the side said closed it was 8:44 pm lots of people waiting so I politely tapped on the window. An older gentleman with a white beard answered and told me "can't I read the sign we're closed " and I said well can't you read the front sign says open he then slammed the window on me , this is no way to run a business. All the people in line left !We have had ice cream businesses for more than 30 years. this is no way to handle this type of question you could've said. I've heard of Scoopers for a long time and we finally stopped by! They have a massive menu with so many options. I went with a hot dog that is filled with cheese, wrapped in bacon, and deep fried! The deep fried part was light and not too much to the point of making it crunchy. It was delicious! The side order of fries is small but they were crisp. It came with a side of ranch which was some of the best ranch I've had in a long time, you can tell it's homemade! I got a small butterfinger shake too which was so good. The amount of milkshake flavors is almost overwhelming, they have something for everyone. My husband thought his chocolate shake was even better than In-N-Out shakes! Not the most healthy meal, but that's not what you come to a drive-in diner for--we enjoyed treating ourselves! We were a bit surprised by the price, it was $50 for us to get a hot dog with fries, a burger with fries for my husband, a kids meal, and two shakes. I would've expected closer to the $35-40 range. This is for the food, not the ice cream. Save your money. I've never eaten here before, my husband wanted us to order "drive in diner" food. I glanced at yelp to see what the rating was and it was high so we ordered. It's somewhat my fault, I should have gone through the reviews on yelp which are mostly positive because of the ice cream- not the food. Hot dogs - Costco beef hot dogs in soggy bun. Go directly to Costco and get it for $1.50 instead. Grilled cheese- I realize we ordered takeout but this is the soggiest grilled cheese I've ever eaten. The cheese was rubber and the bread was like wet cardboard. Hamburgers- the patties were mid. Hard to tell if they were Costco beef patties but they probably were. They were also soggy and smothered in a watery copy of McD Big Mac sauce. Fries- ordered crispy and got frozen fries from a bag that were super soggy. Chili cheese fries- same as the fries above but added canned chili and canned cheese. Onion rings- previously frozen maybe Oneida onion rings from a bag. Cheaper to buy and make yourself. Corn dog- my daughter liked it but she likes the corn dogs that come in the freezer section at Safeway which this is exactly like. To sum it up- if you're getting any food, I'd go elsewhere. I'm sure the ice cream is good though given the other reviews. Maybe in person the French fries wouldn't be so soggy they disintegrate in your hands. The food was gross and overpriced for being what it was - resold frozen food items and Costco hot dogs. I thought this was like old school drive in diner food but it's not. Super disappointed as I ended up not eating any of it because it was just gross. This place is absolutely my favorite #1 place to go to. The service is spectacular. They are kind, attentive and friendly people all around. The food is excellent, particularly the bulls eye burger and I genuinely can not find better chili cheese fries anywhere. My husband was craving a classic diner burger and scoopers had great reviews so we decided to give it a try! When we got there, there was no line. You park your car and you order at the window. I ordered a double cheeseburger and my husband ordered the half pound burger. I asked the cashier if she liked their fries and she said yes but well done is better so I said I'll have that and a chocolate banana milkshake. They said they'd bring our food to our car which was nice. We got in our car and waiting like 3 minutes and our food was delivered to us! Such quick service and nice staff members! I have been here in person, and I know the service is good. So is the ambiance. A nice old fashioned drive in. This review is about a recent order, which I did via DoorDash. It was for my mom. She didn't want what we were having for dinner so I asked her what she wanted. She said a burger and shake. I wanted to review somewhere I haven't done before, so I chose Scoopers. Plus, mom has never tried them. And I wanted her to have the best milkshakes in town! I ordered the Orange Creme because she loves that flavor and it isn't offered anywhere. Came here on a friday night around 6-6:30 ish? We walked from the nugget casino hotel and it was a pretty quick walk, like 10-15 minutes which is convenient. They have a decent line but it moves and they have menus everywhere so u can easily pick and choose what you want to order. The lady who took our order was sooooo sweet and awesome. We ended up ordering a combo with quarter pounder, med cheesecake shake and med fries and another quarter pounder. Total came out to be around 16 + tip so 18 which is pretty good. I also checked in so we got a free soft serve and it was bigggg!!! Food came out in ten minutes which is quick. First impression, the fries werent as big as i expected for a med? And burger was pretty decent sized. Burger was decent, was filling, but i feel like it was mainly bread lol. It would def be muchhhh better if the bun was toasted but i didnt mind that much. Also cheese costs .90 cents extra! But we didnt know until after lol but wtv. Fries were solid, i appreciate that they were actually crunchy and were lightly salted to a good amount so it was good. The cheesecake shake just tasted like the soft serve... so wasnt that cheesecakey?? Idk they have sooooo many diff flavors tho which is honestly so cool and i want to try all of them lol. Everything was so delicious the chicken was tender and just a lil bit salty for my taste, the onion rings were so crunchy and OMG I was amazed by the variety of flavors they have for the milkshakes. I tried the matterhorn with cheddar cheese instead of swiss cheese and it had a really nice classic burger flavor. I would prefer my bacon a bit crisper but it was a very standard classic cheese burger with good flavor. I did enjoy the chocolate malt milkshake!
