When I came to this restaurant. I was rudely approached and when confronting about how rude the server was. They said to leave.

Rude, poorly trained wait staff. Food made me sick (perhaps intentionally). Will never return.

Love this location for before a game. You need to make a reservation, but it works out well. Booked about a week ahead of time. Quick in and out. Ordered food and drinks right away. Server was friendly, made recommendations for us and also helped us navigate a gluten allergy. Food was served quickly and was your average pub food. We loved paying with Apple Pay because it allowed us to take care of the bill quickly without back and forth with the server. Again, ideal for when you're trying to get to a game or concert across the street. read more

Loud music, varies between quite a few styles. Food is ok. Don't order the ginger beer!! They charge you & don't take it off the bill for crappy tasting stuff. It's 96% of the ADV for sugar. 48g of sugar!!! I dislike that they didn't take the drink off the bill when I didn't like it after the first sip. I wasn't making a mule, just drinking it like a soda. Just left the Celtics game. Have to say I'm pretty impressed. I work in the industry and when I see great service I like to acknowledge it. Steve and Bryce were on point. Working seamlessly together. Cabernet was priced at $9 on menu; my wife and I were billed for 3 glasses at $10. Small desert menu clipped on side of table also had cookie at $9, billed for $10. Yes, I told our server to alert management (but of course it wasn't his fault). Busy, popular place near TD Garden. I would have been fine with a notice indicating food costs have gone up, a line through prices on menu, etc. But to just blatantly ignore the changes (with paper menus, easily changed) is unacceptable! read more

I went to A&B on Sunday, September, 12th. I absolutely loved everything about this place! Location was perfect, a block away from TD Gardens and the North Station subway. It offered a gorgeous backdrop with their big windows overlooking the Zakim Bridge. It happened to be the first Sunday of the NFL season, and they had 15 flatscreen TVs to watch the game. Due to my gluten allergy, I find it difficult to find restaurants that can accommodate me. Luckily, my waitress assured me that the kitchen could modify almost anything on the menu for me. I got a burger with a gluten free bun that was actually fluffy unlike most gluten free breads. The waitress also made sure to have my fries cooked in a separate frier! I am a huge burger person, and the burger itself was phenomenal and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I kept telling my boyfriend that it was seriously one of the best burgers I have had! I also had a frozen cocktail. I tried looking up the name, but I can not find it (I remember it had passion fruit in it). It was delicious, and I also highly recommend it. I've visited 4 times since they opened here on Causeway Street. I have no previous experience with the A&B in Beverly. And I fully get that this store just opened, so been giving them time to get themselves in order. The first 3 visits occurred in the first 2 weeks they were open. (I typically wouldn't do that early on but was excited). The 4th visit was last week. First visit was just for a milkshake togo. Was fine though $7 for tiny cup seemed hardly worth it - won't bother again with that. Second visit I sat at the bar. Music was LOUD. Bartender (might be named Jay not sure) was very inattentive, slow to take order, slow to clear menus, slow to clear plates, slow to bring bill even though sitting with my credit card in front of me at bar. Too busy chatting with other staff and polishing glassware to be attentive to customers. Poor at beverage or food menu recommendations. Poor at general convo in my opinion. Won't sit at his end of the bar ever again. In fact been just walking back out if I see him working at bar. Third visit was in dining room with friends. Music was LOUD. Only good server was the diligent bus boy who refilled our water glasses 3 times, while waiting for the server to come take beer and food order. The restaurant was empty so no real logical reason for it to take that long. Was about 30 minutes based on water refill timings. The draft beer I ordered - one of their regular ones - was out. No big deal but was irritating to wait another 10 minutes before having a beer in front of me. So 40 minutes total arrival time til beer in hand, NOT GOOD. Food was fine, sweet potato fries maybe overcooked. Waiter was fine when he was with us. Just rarely present. Again delays cashing out - check presenter sitting with credit card sticking out for quite a while. Fourth visit now many weeks after opening, gives me hope. Music was great. The shite bartender still there - somehow. But everything was on point in this dining room visit. Except waiter somehow ordered the completely wrong burger for my dinner guest. No at all what was ordered, good thing he has no allergies! Anyway he kept it as was considering that burger for his meal as well. We both got the Wagu upgrade - not sure it's worth the $5 - also no mention of Wagu by the food deliverer or any indication in plating that it's the Wagu beef. Just have to trust I guess... I'll be back again for sure, and hope that they've settled into their groove, and will HOPE to see they've realized how bad that bartender is and not see him there. Will update my review/rating then. I felt compelled to write a review after seeing the less than stellar reviews. This place is very new in a very busy location so I didn't expect them to have everything perfect, none the less, the hosts were friendly and found us a table quickly. The server spoke fast and was very busy but efficient and got our orders right. He explained the menu, some of the better options and gave good beer recommendations. We ordered two burgers, salad, sweet potato fries and a side of greens for our toddler. Everything came out quickly, the food was excellent, and the beer selection was awesome. Areas of improvement are definitely the hasty service, and to be expected in this very busy location. If you like burgers and beer, then you need to check it out! read more

Came in for a meal and maybe some wi-Fi while waiting for a train about two weeks ago. I really dislike giving negative reviews but service was HORRIBLE. I felt rushed to finish my meal, my server kept hinting that I should leave, even though I was sitting in a restaurant that was about 70% empty on a Sunday afternoon--- well before closing time. On top of the horrible service, I ordered the chicken and waffles which came without any ounce of spice or flavor, and worst of all: the chicken was still RAW in some parts. I wanted to vomit. The good things were: the hostess was super chipper and pleasant, the drinks were fantastic. Unfortunately, the way the server treated me and the awful food just turned me completely off. Cook threw dried old anchovy on top of Caesar(why bother?). Condiments (aoilis) are pre-poured way ahead of time with crust on top as old. The staff turnover and bad food says more about management than the establishment. The hours are not consistent, the food is not always edible, and the zombie manager has the worst attitude I have ever seen!! They are the slowest bar on the street for a reason!! The food has never been great at all, but it was convenient when the other places had a wait. The only thing that kept us returning was the bar staff but to our surprise, our favorite bartenders are no longer there. read more

I was SO psyched about the opening of this place because I love the Beverly spot. I hate that I have to say this but the food just wasn't good. I came on TWO separate occasions to get food to give them the benefit of the doubt that they were new. The first I got the sweet and salty burger to go and no joke there was maybe a half teaspoon of cheese and jam. It was a fairly tasteless burger and they really skimped on the toppings. The second time I came I decided to go in and stick with regular options: baked Brie and roasted acorn squash. Both again had the tiniest portions and were fairly flavorless. This place is a fun spot for drinks before or after the game but I was super let down by their food. I will say that the staff was super nice and accommodating. read more

Was not very happy with my experience today. To start off, we sat for over 10 minutes before our waiter greeted us. The service was very poor and slow and the restaurant was not busy at all. Multiple parts of our order were forgotten or wrong. Our waiter also never checked in on us. We never got our appetizer, upsetting. Once the food arrived, the burger portion was VERY small and dinky. We also never got our fig jam, which was part of the burger. The Mediterranean bowl also was wrong. The menu listed feta cheese and it was serviced with goat, very disgusting. To top off the afternoon, the waiter proceeded to take the credit card off of my cousins wallet to pay the bill, BEFORE we ever got a second to check out the bill. Not great. Food fair at best. Ordered beet salad with grilled shrimp. The beets were canned beets in slices on the bottom of the plate and covered with the greens. Super weird. Typically a beet salad has diced and roasted fresh beets. Drinks fair- a gin and tonic in a water glass basically with flat tonic and no garnish of lemon or lime. We were visiting Boston and stopped into A and B for lunch. I ordered the beet salad. The beets were good as were the walnuts and the goat cheese but the main part of the salad, the salad greens, were not. They had not been washed properly and every bite was gritty. I took about three bites thinking maybe it was my imagination, but it was not. The greens were dirty. I mentioned it to the waitress so she could alert the kitchen to not use those anymore. She said she would but that was all that was said. I was charged the full price for my salad and no one said a word about the fact that I was paying for food that I couldn't eat. This spot was right below our hotel so we definitely wanted to try it out. We ordered takeout, but decided to wait at the bar and have some drinks. The margarita was delicious! The bartender was friendly and accommodating. As for food, we ordered a burger, chicken pot pie, and Korean bbq wings. All in all, the food was hot and tasty and we were satisfied with our meal. One of the worst customer service I have ever encountered. The bad review is only on customer service as we did not even touch the food we ordered. First when we got there is was busy. We went to the host section and asked if we could get on the wait list, the young lady rudely said we have too many reservations at the moment and went on to speak to the other host. I found a corner and ordered some drinks. There was an empty seat and since I'm disabled I just sat down for approximately 10 minutes. The general manager came by and told us we would need to get up, I complied and proceeded to stand and finish my drink. The waiter Matt L walked by and I asked if it was ok to order appetizers while I was standing in the corner. He took our order and came back and asked us if we wanted to sit at the corner of the communal table by the bar. I said yes thank you and he came and brought us our food. That's when Kim the general manager came and told us that we could not sit there. We proceeded to tell her that her waiter Matt L sat us down there. She looked at us like we were lying and told us to get up that the waiters do not sit people down. We explained that he did and that she should speak with him, she told us that we need to get up or leave. I asked her are you kicking us out? She said that there is no way Matt sat us there. Matt finally showed up and by then I was furious, he told her that he did, I asked her for my bill for a beer my wife was having. While she was checking us out she was having a discussion with Matt and came back to apologize for the confusion and asked us to sit back down, by then it was too late. My daughter and wife were also furious about Kim insinuating that we had sat ourselves down . So we paid our bill and left. I would never visit this establishment ever again. I visit Boston every month on business. I will make sure that all my colleagues and business partners know about the terrible, horrible customer service I received from A&B Kitchen and Bar! read more

I dunno,...this place was great when it first opened...burgers and beer...nothing better. It's always been pricey, but I never had a problem paying for quality food. Now, though, the prices are out of control...5 of us recently ate here and our tab was $198! Boston prices at a northshore location. Yikes! Yes, we had several drinks but holy crap! We're not going back very soon (ps...the place was a ghost town, so maybe the prices have something to do with that??). Anyway...I think they've lost their way...sad...remember your roots! read more

The service was nice and I enjoyed the ambience. I ordered the calamari and Asian chicken lettuce wraps. The calamari was good and came with a marinara sauce and a non-spicy aioli. The leucine wraps were sub-par. The peanut sauce was very watery when a thicker sauce would have been perfect. It leaked all over my hands and had no taste. Also, the chicken was cold when warm chicken and a warm peanut sauce would have balanced nicely with the cold lettuce. When the chicken, sauce, and veggies are all cold, the flavor is extremely bland. I would not order this again. Lastly, they have a good selection of beers. I'd stop by here again. read more

Great spot for pre/ post drinks at the garden. Late night menu is ahhhmazzing- serving food until 1 am. My boyfriend and I first chose A&B for the convenience as we will across the street. We pop in for drinks/ dinner all the time. Bar is open until 2am; you must try the blood orange margarita. Truffle fries, Mac & cheese, & burgers are our go-to eats. From the hostess upon walk in, to bus boys & management as they walk past, it's clear that customer service is #1. We are always greeted and asked about our experience. We love the urban vibe, chill atmosphere, always playing the best music. Restaurant overlooks the Zakim bridge & Charles River. Outdoor patio directly on causeway/ Beverly street. I've visited A&B Burgers in Beverly and was so pleased with the food over there. I was super excited to find out there was a A&B Burgers opening in Boston, since I live in the city! We've tried take out here twice and we've always had great customer service. The food was also delicious as expected. We decided to dine in this time, and I made reservations for 6. I had a pleasant phone call with the hostess. Everything went downhill once my party arrived later that night. Our waiter was a little rude to us when we first sat down. He kept slamming our drinks on the table and didn't make conversation with us at all. We are in our early 20s and he probably thought we were much younger and thought we weren't going tip him well. (which we did) I ordered the B burger and told the waiter I would like it well done and unfortunately the burger was very pink. The same happened with my boyfriends burger who ordered his medium and it came out looking rare. We did not send back our burgers because we pretty much just wanted to leave since our waiter was rude. At the end of the night, we will probably be back but will probably stick to only takeout and order our burgers to be cooked more. read more
