7-23-2025: Just a quick update. A bracket popped off the side of the muffler on my 1988 Fiero. I called A-1 and they were booked out about a week so I made the appointment. I arrived a little early, but he was ready for me and he welded the bracket back on as well as beefing up the welds on the bracket on the opposite side. Got it done in no time and for a VERY fair price. A true life saver! Can't thank A-1 enough for the skill and great service. read more

The reason why this place has such good reviews is because it is owned and operated by Wayne. He cares about his business which entails great service. He also does not gouge you like some auto shops do. The price is competitive and he is fair. I made an appointment with him today to have my exhaust adjusted since the cat back is rattling on my pan hard bar. Wayne previously worked on getting the exhaust tips straight in the valence a couple of weeks ago. It isn't his fault, the catback doesn't fit my car that well and the clamps get loose sometimes. I used to live in San Diego and my go to exhaust shop was American Muffler. You can check out my review I did for them a few years back. Had an appointment booked for a certain day, certain time and arrived as usual . Got out to let them know I had arrived and the boss man told me "sorry too busy" I told him phone call would've been nice and then he claimed the old owner took the appointment calendar with him. I could see the calendar directly behind him in the exact same spot my appointment was written on it two weeks prior. Old owner awesome. New owner June 2026 horrible. A lot of companies go down the tube when they get new ownership due to many reasons, customer service being a huge one. Had I just been contacted the day before I would've been understanding of the situation. But the lack of regard for my appointment booked, I am done with A1 Muffler. I wasted a day off work for nothing. It's too bad, I had great work done in the past but the new owner is off to a great start ruining their reputation Permanently lost my business. read more

I called and visited many middle shops in the area for a rather straightforward job, which is replacing my OEM muffler with an aftermarket one. A-1 was recommended to me by a friend indicating they are inexpensive relative to the work they perform. They were totally right. The location isn't ideal since it's in a busy street, the waiting room is not very clean nor tidy, and the property is filled with cars. If you can see beyond this, you'll find a great muffler shop that's easy on your wallet. In fact, they were less than half the amount that another muffler shop in Bellevue wanted to charge, for the exact same work. They were quick and affordable and made a huge difference in how my old v8 sounds. Highly recommended! read more

I ordered an axel back exhaust system from the manufacturer. Of course, it didn't fit perfectly. The Airport team cut and welded it together and now it looks like it came from the factory. Couldn't be happier with my experience with these people. read more

I started going to A-1 Muffler in 2008 from a friend's recommendation. I've since and just recently have gone back to him and as always A-1 SERVICE! I had to have my brakes and Routers and pads looked at after having to stop by another Shop on my way home recently, for fear of an accident. My brakes seemed low. This (other) Shop just adjusted the hand parking brake. It was adjusted so the brake didn't have much movement and the Brakes themselves were low and not adjusted. Wayne originally installed the Brakes and Routers. After making an appt. and seeing Wayne recently he drove and tested the Brakes and then inspected both and adjusted them. He then told me that they had 50% wear left! He's the Best Mechanic! Honest and interesting to talk with, my go to Mechanic! Truely A Five Star Shop!!! read more

If there was an option to rate my experience at A-1 muffler as a '0' I would most defintely go that route. I drove from Seattle to Everett on a reccomendation from a friend that they did quality work. WRONG. I've been there twice at opening time of 8:30 to inquire about service and both times they were late 30 minutes. I even called the day before letting the owner know I would be there the following morning at 8:30 on the dot and they still were not on time. I purchased a Magnaflow muffler for my 2013 Tacoma and was super excited to hear it. Luckily I work at a lube shop and have the luxury of a lower bay pit. Long story short the weld job was sloppy and missing welds. There also was a exhaust leak. I would not reccomend this shope to ANYONE. read more

I'm going to be honest and give a no B.S review. I'm always skeptical because it seems there are no real mechanics left in this world, only trained monkies with a tech manual these days. But Wayne gave me hope. He is one of the last of a dieing breed of real mechanics. He is also the very best exhaust guy I have ever met, and at my age I assure you that's saying something. While I'm certain he could have opened a much larger shop and charged easily twice as much...he stayed small and ensures perfection based on his 30+ years experience. Wayne's A-1 Muffler in Everett is just great. Honest service, extremely fair pricing. Wayne's just a nice guy to boot. I have a '95 Camry wagon and when the Check Engine light came on, the dealer told me I needed a new catalytic converter and would have to pay a ridiculous price (couple of grand) to fix so I could pass the emissions inspection. On a friend's recommendation, I took it to Wayne's A-1 Muffler, and the grand total was $287, including labor. Camry runs great; no more Check Engine light. Bring your custom work to A1, and you will be happy! I brought a very special vehicle to him, and told him what I wanted done. The owner quoted a reasonable price, and did exactly what I asked for. Finding a good shop is hard, and it's very difficult to get the job done right. My vehicle had to be stored there for a week because he was waiting for a part to be delivered. This part was ordered by me, and he was very patient while he waited. Awesome Service, Great Attitude, and very reasonable. In fact, I would have paid double for the work he did. read more

I was told that I needed a new muffler (from a different mechanic) so I thought it best to go to a "muffler" shop. When Wayne took a look at it, he told we this muffler had several years still to go! I cannot believe how impressed I was with the service and the product, for what I paid for it. I had a custom exhaust built by A1 muffler for my civic, and it sounds amazing. The owner was very attentive, and listened to everything that I wanted my car to do, and helped me to build what he believed would best suit my needs. My daughter borrowed my car and brought it back with the muffler scraping on the ground and the bracket hanging. I was afraid to drive it too far or the whole thing would be gone. So instead of driving it to a muffler shop that I had used in the past, I called A-1 Muffler Service(which was much closer,) and explained my predicament to the mechanic. He said he was really busy, but that I could bring it at 3:00 and he would see what he could do. I arrived at 3 and he had it up, welded and me on the road again in less than 15 minutes! A-1 was recommended to me by my barber who had exhaust work done on several vehicles with high performance dual exhaust systems. I made an appointment with Wayne and he was ready for me on arrival. The muffler on my 91 Toyota P/U 4-cylinder had a hole and I wanted something with a more aggressive sound, but not raucous. He set up a loose installation of a Magnaflow and a Flowmaster muffler for comparison. I went with the Flowmaster. He built fully welded system from the cat converter back in 2.25" pipe. The end result was a mellow sound without being offensive. I appreciate the fact that he gave me a chance to evaluate the approximate sound I would get before completing the installation. If you want a muffler fixed right, this is the place to go. Don't be fooled by the look of the shop. This guy is amazing. He has so much going on, but always has time for the customer. I hated to bug him too long cause he is so amazing at what he does. He always has a lot of cars there, but he can usually fit you in pretty quick if you call and schedule a time or drop it off for him for a day or two if you didn't schedule. I took my daughters moneypit jetta there and he fixed it right up. That is why when my RV muffler dropped 3 miles from home, he was my first choice to piece the old Honeybucket back together again. I was worried it might be too big for him to work on it, but he assured me he could do it and he did. If you are in Everett and you have a muffler problem. This is the place. read more
