What a great concept. The execution not so much. The idea of an all you can eat sounds fantastic, but it's a bait and switch. $15.99 lunch special gets you just the vegetable/sauce/noodle bar. The meat is a Al cart for another $12-16. The all u can eat meat and veggies is $40. The broth is the blandest most watery, no flavor beef broth I have ever had. Although it looked good, all white and creamy beefy looking, it was so bland that I had to put half a container of salt in before it was even tasty. The veggies are weak and the sauce bar is virtually nonexistent. The staff is super friendly, but that doesn't make up for the low quality food. I ordered the prime beef brisket along with the veggies and it was so fatty and thin. $15 it was not worth it. J's mini is 1000% better than this place. Ok first off, I love sitting in booths which 9292 Shabu has plenty of. When we were seated, our server let us know since we were dining on a weekend, our base price was somewhere in the $13-ish range. That would be our price for each person for access to the veggie, noodles, and hot foods buffet. If we ordered meats then each type had a set price per plate. We opted to do AYCE which was about $30. The choices at the buffet are pretty numerous but I'm basic so I just stacked my plate with plenty of mushrooms, potato noodles, and lots of watercress. My husband also got me a plate of japchae and fish balls which I was unable to finish since I like to call my stomach space real estate when I do AYCE. We ended up having two plates of prime brisket, one of non-fat beef, and one of shrimp. I think we assumed we'd eat a lot more cause it would've been a better deal for us to just buy meat per plate. Overall, I think 9292 is a nice hotpot location. However, it's missing certain special items like fried tofu skin... My husband also mentioned he circled the buffet looking for eggs. 9292 BBQ being one of my favorite KBBQ spots, I had to try their Shabu Shabu spot as soon as I found out about it. Needless to say i was not let down. I went here for lunch with some friends and we got the all you can eat. It was 25 bucks, which isn't that bad in my opinion, especially considering all the choices you had. We ate 2 different cuts of beef (my favorite being the prime brisket), pork, clams, and shrimp. Plus there were tons of veggies, noodles, mushrooms, and sauce to pick from. I ate until I was physically hurting! This is now my favorite hot pot place, but take that statement with a grain of salt as ive only eaten hot pot in a handful of places and none if the others were all you can eat. So I've always left the other spots feeling a little hungry. It's located in a strip mall so their is plenty of parking and their were plenty of space in there as the restaurant is pretty big. The staff was quite rude. That should've been my first clue. It took a very long time to get our drinks although they did immediately bring water. The broth was extremely bland and no matter how we dressed it there was no fixing it. We went around 7:30 on a Friday night and the bar was mostly empty and they did not replenish it. This is my first time trying Shabu, but not my first time trying hot pot. This place has a buffet which is about $15 dollars per person, not so bad due to the wide variety of selections. My waiter was so helpful and very professional, he helped us pick out a bottle of soju. Their grape flavour soju is their most popular and best seller. I would definitely be coming back soon! This is what you can call the body restoration restaurant. They have literally infinite choices for vegans, vegetarians, and carnivores. They have a wide variety of seafood as well. My favorite is the vegetable broth. The buffet bar is well over 100ft of goodness. Fresh vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, noodles, dumplings, fried rice, ddukbokki, cold soba noodles, pasta, and of course varietal fish cakes. It's only 13 or so per person for this unlimited health potion. Check out their all you can eat meat as well! You can get nice lamb, prime beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, clams, crab.. they even have a DIY spring roll wrap option where a platter of veggies come out with vietnamese wraps. Not the best Shabu Shabu I've had in Atlanta, but a definite OK. I'm not quite sure what would've made it better. I like the concept of the restaurant. Everything at the buffet bar (all the veggies and sides) seemed very fresh and clean. There is an assortment of veggies, various kinds of cabbage, mushrooms, sprouts, watercress, squash, sweet potato, corn, etc. They also had sausage, hot dogs, fish cakes, tofu, various types of noodles, etc. They also had a sauce bar where you could make your own sauce and have instructions of how to make the type of sauce you want. Everyone had their own pot and you could choose the type of broth you wanted out of the 4 or 5 different broths. If you wanted a protein that wasn't provided on the buffet it is an extra cost. $8.99 for premium beef plus the cost of the buffet, which was $11.99 at lunch. Hm, I wonder if you could just pay for the beef and not get the buffet. I guess a question you could ask if you want just protein and broth and no veggies. If you wanted protein you can order it with extra charge or do the AYCE option. However, the service wasn't the greatest. We had to find and grab our own booster seats, no acknowledgement there were two baby toddlers (not a big problem but good to know) I had asked for the spicy dashi base while everyone at my table asked for the original non-spicy version. Incase he forgot, I reminded him as he was pouring everyone's, and the server says "okay sure" and skipped mine. To my surprise, I thought he was going to return to grab the correct broth but all he does was pour the same base but mine last. Huh? What difference did that make?? You can grab whatever veggies from the diverse buffet line. The veggies are extremely fresh. You also have carb options of which are flat chewy bites of flour,dumplings, noodles, and rice cakes (). I been wanting to try out this place since I saw the advertisement of $13.99. The price was pretty good but never realize ayce is actually $29.99. Not a big deal for me. What i wish could have been better was the service the server who served my family. The server forgot to bring out our broth. We went on a Sunday and it was not busy so for the server to forget several thjngs we ordered was disappointing. But in terms of the restaurant and food quality it was spot on. I've been here a couple of times and I honestly don't know why this place has such poor rating. First, the price is cheap. AYCE (without meat/seafood) is about $11.99-12.99. You really don't need to order meat a la carte (I've only done that once before realizing all the ingredients they provided) or do the expensive $29.99 AYCE (with meat) option because even without the meat, there is SO much variety of ingredients you can choose from, including different kinds of fish cake, sausage, mushroom, noodles, veggies, etc. FYI- I am farrrr from being a vegetarian, yet I am perfectly fine with the regular AYCE option because there's just so much food to choose from. They also provide a selection of pre-made hot & cold food options as well, e.g., ddukbokki, soba, japchae, etc. Their carb selections for the shabu/hot pot is amazing. They have rice noodles, ramen, ddukbokki, soojaebee, etc. I always leave super full & content. 9292 Shabu is one of my go to places for shabu. It's the best value, great quality buffet style veggies, fish cakes, mushrooms, etc. and the broths and meat quality does not disappoint. The servers are attentive as well. Even if you are doing the choosing for your sauces and food items to put into your hot pot, the servers are quick at taking care of your empty plates, replacing your waters, and giving you more broth or whatever you may need. I am in between 3-4 star. Food: Pretty Decent since it's only Hot Pot meaning you pretty much cook everything on your own. The broth I got was Dashi which is commonly used at most hot pots. They do have a vegetable broth which is also super good. The benefits here is you can get all the veggies and extras ( crab meat, fish cake, noodles, kimchi, sausage, rice cake etc) you want. It's buffet style so it's self served. They do have a hot bar with fried rice, spaghetti, cream pasta, and spicy rice cakes called Tteokpokki. All mediocre and what's to expect at a buffet Service: The front/host service was good they sat me down pretty quick (2pm) they had a promotion and it ended so it was pretty slow. They girls were super nice and asked me how I was doing. Now the waiters.... I guess in the beginning when we ordered our food it was okay. He came greeted us and got our meet types, after that we never saw him again. I use the button to call the server 3 times ( water, chopsticks & our check) I understand it's a buffet but if you want the full 20%+ tip I need the restaurant service. The waiter was non-existence during our visit and when I clicked the button that called the waiter they just all stared at me. A manager came up and asked what I needed. PRICE: Please come before 2PM if you don't want to be charged dinner price. It's not big of a difference but at least you know. Also they have an unlimited option or you can do no meat. The servers were really nice. The vegetables and sides are on a buffet and then they bring the meats out as you order them. A little pricy but lots of options and everything tasted really good. My only negative is that they stop making the side items at least 4 hours (when we got there) before closing and 3 hrs before the kitchen closes (because the kitchen closes an hour early).
