What an awesome place. If you're looking for some cool, high quality shirts that don't cost a fortune, this is the place. I went there twice yesterday to get a couple shirts for friends back home in Vancouver. After the first purchase they gave me a 10% off card which of course I forgot to bring back. When I mentioned to them that I'd forgotten it, the nice lady (who seemed to be the owner) immediately said of course I could still get the discount. One funny thing though. When they found out I am Canadian they all pointed out that Justin Bieber had been there and showed me an autographed picture of him hanging prominently in the store. I had to tell them that wasn't a good selling feature, lol! Seriously, a great shop that I'll be returning to whenever I return to Honolulu. read more

No shooing out for browsers which is good because the selection is enormous from their own brand 88 tees to more mainstream brands like LRG ands TITS. If I could give this place ten stars I would. I am a stupidly large person and finding t-shirts that fit me is really hard but the staff here went really out of their way to help me. I am 6'6 and about 320lb and they didn't stop until they found something I was happy with. The store itself is an awesome mix of random retro objects and cool shirts and accessories. My family was wandering, looking for a place to eat quite late at night, when we stumbled in front of this place. It definitely wasn't a place to grab a bite, but I noticed the store because I went to the 88 Tees Store on Kuhio Avenue a few days before and absolutely loved it there. I wandered up the stairs with my father, despite being quite hungry, and wandered around. I was quite overwhelmed because there was so many people there, and it was quite messy, but I really loved the atmosphere of the place. And what i loved more were the clothes! I was really looking for a place that had great souvenirs. I was pretty upset that a lot of gift shops or stores had such uninspired gifts or products but when I went here I was really impressed. The clothes were so cute and the staff were very kind. I ended up walking out with around 12 shirts and a bunch of gifts! They gave me two bags (one that was orange and one that was blue), as well as a handful of temporary tattoos, small drawstring bags, three 88 Tees CDs and larger colorful stickers. read more

I've heard so much about this store prior to visiting O'ahu. I was beyond excited when I found out that our hotel was across the street from the Kalakaua Ave store. I bought a canvas clutch to match the one that my brother had purchased for me on his last trip. Richard was very helpful and we even got some freebies (2 mixed CDs, stickers, tote bag). I definitely will be visiting again. One thing that I do request is that maybe they add some larger sizes for both men and women. It was hard looking for some pants for my husband (he's 6'3). A super hip Japanese style tee store. My fave store in all of Honolulu so far for cute/hip tees!! The tees come in all styles or vintage, tanks, cropped, etc. they gave us an amazing deal on the tee shirts we bought and the quality of them is so good!! This store is great. I walked in and was overwhelmed at the amount of shirts, but the staff is very friendly and chill. Although it took some time to search through the many shirts, eventually I stumbled upon the shirts I liked. I told the staff I saw their place on Yelp and they gave me free stickers/tattoos and a mix. The stickers and tats are pretty cool, some were even the ones they were selling. I really hate to give this place a two star review, but I will justify my reasons why shortly. First off, I LOVE 88 tee's t-shirts. They are super cute and unique and I honestly think they are worth the $15-$20 you pay for them. (You get a 10% off card if you live in hawaii, all you have to do is ask) I have bought several shirts here, and brought my friends that come visit me in here to purchase trinkets and tees for their families as souvenirs. I have also modeled their clothing both in promotional photoshoots and in a fashion show that they co-sponsored. I was super excited to do it because it's fun modeling something you truly like. So, you may be wondering why I gave it a two-star rating. This is the scoop: My friend and I were walking back to her house the other day from the beach, so we both had backpacks on. I had a DVD in mine for whatever reason. I tend to use my backpack as a catch-all. It was tripping off store sensors all day which was kind of annoying, but seeing as I tripped it off as I came in the stores, no one thought anything of it when I walked out. When we walked up the stairs and into 88 tees, the sensor went off. Keep in mind that there is a narrow staircase leading up to the store and virtually no way I could have managed to steal anything on my way up it. Immediately, the bouncer standing at the door and a Japanese woman behind the desk ran up to me and asked me to open my bag. My friend, who was already off in the corner looking at something didn't notice what was going on until a bouncer ran over to her and asked her to open her bag as well. I tried to explain to them I had just walked in and i had a DVD in my bag, as I opened it and practically was made to dump it's contents onto the floor. The Japanese saleslady informed my friend and I that if we wanted to shop there, she had to take our backpacks and keep them behind the counter. I was super embarassed as everyone was staring at us now as if we were thieves, and I was very angry. No way was I going to hand over all of my personal belongings to some lady so that she could put them behind her counter. I felt it was extremely rude and unwarranted. I immediately told her no thank you and that I was thoroughly dissapointed in their behavior, and my friend and i left. I have never been back, nor will I model any of their clothing in future fashion shows. You lost two loyal customers and an enthusiastic promotor of your cothing, 88 tees. read more

This place is super cutesy and Asian. They have a small store that just seems packed to the brim with T-Shirts and accessories. I really like some of their scarves and the hoodies. Perfect thickness for Hawaii weather not so much for actual cold weather though. But it was nice to bring a cute, little piece of home with me back to Vegas. I loved that they give you a little extra special something when you check out. I got a cute little sticker, and a 10% discount card... on top of the cute reusable tote in a hot pink. **One bonus - I have a longer torso and the hoodie I got was made to be long. Huge space, and impressively kitschy in terms of decor. The staff was very friendly and helpful and showed me to a tiny corner room to try on some of the tshirts. The products are super cute, but pretty pricey at anywhere from $19-29 for fairly basic tshirts. you don't see 88 tees from the street. all you'll see is a small sign with a staircase to the 2nd floor. they actually carry a lot of tees and other knickknacks up there. this is more for the person who wants Tshirts that are different from the 5 for $20 souvenir ones. although there are quite pricey tshirts, there are also deals. you just have to look around. saw kitson bags against the wall too. they don't have used stuff here...not that i saw. don't know why it is in the "used, vintage" category. there is a security guard at the top of the stairs in case someone is prone to shoplift. at the checkout, they asked us if we were local because you get 10% off. my hubby said, "yes.." but then the guy looked at his ID to match his credit card. lol. the cashier didn't care. he was like, "thanks. have a nice stay!" then he gave us a 10% off card for next time too. as i left the store walking down the staircase, i gave the 10% off card to a customer walking up. i'm sure she was happy to receive it. read more

Surprisingly cool store located in a nondescript building on the famous Waikiki shopping strip. Known for their trend setting t-shirts and vintage wear its retail heaven. Some of the pricing was confusing. Many items are not tagged so I kept having to ask for prices. Towards the back of the store there were some pretty neat purses but again I was put off by the no tag problem. Another confusing detail is the pricing signs on the walls. You get to a tag and its different from the pricing on the wall. ????? So other that issue its a great shop comparable to a store you would find in Japan or on Melrose Ave in L.A. read more
