Loved a pair of shorts but the fit just wasn't there. Daughter ended up getting the shorts I wanted because they fit her better. So jelly!! But happy she found stuff she loved. Store is cute and employees are friendly but one of the items I purchased- black drawstring pants- had the tags attached to the back on the thin material so when they were removed, they left 2 holes in them. It already looks like the holes are getting bigger... It's only a matter of time before the holes will rip. I think I paid around $79 for them and can't go back to return or exchange cuz I live in LA! They should attach tags to the tags (that show the sizes) especially for thin/delicate material. Everything in the store related to the Rip Curl logo was 40% off. I was there August 24th. I think it was related to the end of Summer Labor Day weekend sales. They still had some cute sweatshirts and shorts available. I noticed after I checked in with Yelp that there was an additional 10% coupon on Yelp. Everyone was friendly and helpful. If you like surf and casual wear you should check it out. Parking can be tricky and expensive. We parked at the Hale Koa Resort and it was $29 yikes. Son wanted a shirt but it was too tight, the lady helping us was nice but didn't offer to call the other shops to see if they had a different size, but she did help us out by giving my son a larger size to see if it would fit in the event that we did find the same shirt at the other store (two others, another one in Waikiki and one at Ala Moana Shopping Center). I took a photo of the shirt so we could remember which one it was and I looked closely at the photo and realized my son had put the shirt on BACKWARDS!!! Searching for a mesh bag and new swim gloves I stopped in Rip Curl. Like most of these shops, they focus more on swimwear, clothing, sandals and backpacks than actual gear. They have a great selection of bikinis and bathing suits; nice long shorts for the guys. I found a long sleeve rash guard with a fun print so picked that up so I could snorkel without getting scratched in coral or getting sunburned. Right on Kalakaua and across from the beach, it's a prime location. Service was friendly and helpful. read more

Saw exactly what he was grabbing for the deal picked out the shorts, shirt and sandals that he wanted . takes it up to the counter and the girl at the counter tells us that it is not available for the $99 deal. Purchased a $60 UV long sleeve shirt for my daughter at this store. She wore it one day in the hotel pool after swimming we found a hole on the sleeve. Went back to store to see if they would exchange. They said no, they said "we should have checked before leaving the store and that my daughter may have caused the rip." I thought these shirts are made for surfing if it can't stand up to a kid playing in a pool are they really selling products that are for surfing? Last time I buy Rip Curl products, they don't stand behind their brand and have very poor quality. Can't believe paid $60 for a shirt that can't last one day in a swimming pool. read more

My boyfriend and I were hanging out down in Waikiki and ran into this surf shop. We parked at the international market place which was walking distance to this store. You can also get validated if you buy something in the international marketplace. We went to the Eat Street plaza and bought drinks, got validated and parking went from $12 to $4. At Rip Curl! Since he was interested in looking for new board shorts, we went in! We were looking for such a specific size of shorts and the young lady was super helpful! I have to write this not only because of the great items they have, but I have to write this because of the experience I had here. The best experience are the most memorable, right? The size is not too small that you have to go up 2 sizes from your regular size. Their prices are reasonable for beach area! Slippers for $30. Woman's bathing suit set is between $70-80. The people works here are actually very friendly and pleasant. They look like regular people... no surfer girls or dudes with perfect body makes you feel uncomfortable to ask for your size! As I was nearing the end of my vacation my ever growing baby bump got suddenly bigger and the remaining shirts I had would not fit my tummy anymore. They had a great selection of women's shirts that were slightly longer for good tummy cover. The designs are very tourist centric. All revolving around Hawaii and the beach theme. Received a $100 gift card to ripcurl two years ago on my birthday. Finally decided to spend it and buy some board shorts. The selection and quality of clothing at ripcurl is excellent but unfortunately my overall customer experience was frustrating as it took near 45 minutes to check out because of either their lack of process (or the employee lack of knowledge) on processing their gift cards. He had to contact their customer service line to validate the card, which gave me a balance of $75 instead of $100. It's been two years so I didn't have the purchase receipt and no way to prove it, so I let it go. But the frustration cake from having to wait all that time as he could not find how to process the gift card on their register. Seriously, something that could have taken 10 minutes (had some common sense been applied) took nearly an hour. Not to mention this was on Fathers Day as my family waited at the beach. The only reason I didn't leave was because I feared the entire process would have to be repeated at a later time, and that I would ultimately lose the gift card by never coming back. Now that they don't carry surfboards I have absolutely no reason to set foot in this store. They don't staff the most polite employees at this location. A while back, one of the employees almost did a back flip into me (he didn't look behind him) while he was trying to impress some girl & her mom. I was also looking at their bikinis one night but ended up not buying anything because no one offered to help me get my size, which was too high for anyone under 6 feet tall to reach. I bought a surf suit as a gift for a friend in the mainland, but it didn't fit and I tried to return it- oh my God! It was basically impossible! Customer service online told me that I should call a store as they don't have the same system. I called a store in FL, which was closest to me (MA), but they said they don't accept returns from other stores. And the Waikiki store- well they told me I should go back and bring it in person or ship it to a friend in HI and ask that friend to return it to the store. What stupid system is this? The staff was helpful to hold it for us while we checked out the other stores. A few hours later, we returned and the same sales guy remembered us. Prior to us purchasing the item, he began to ask quesiton on what we planned to do on our trip and offered a better style surf suit. It's lightweight and has several settings, sits perfectly comfortable on my back, has a huge backpack area, an attached pillow and cup holder.
